Shiv Thakare recounts ‘Bigg Boss 16’ journey in his music video ‘Aai Shapphat’

Mumbai: Shiv Thakare, known for participating in the reality show ‘Bigg Boss 16’, has collaborated with music composer Mayur Jumani for the one-minute music video ‘Aai Shapphat’, which captures his journey on the reality show.
While MC Stan lifted the trophy on ‘Bigg Boss 16’, Shiv emerged as the first runner-up.
He shared a friendly bond with Abdu Rozik and a close bond with Nimrit Kaur on the show. The video captures a few of his catchwords also.

Talking about the peppy track, Shiv said: “One day I got a call from Mayur, he said I have made this song called ‘Aai Shapphat’ which captures your ‘Bigg Boss season 16’ journey, can you meet and discuss the same? I always appreciate and respect people around me. So I took time and went to meet him and when I listened to what he had made, I was so happy and felt blessed about it.”
Shiv has also participated in reality shows like MTV’s Roadies Rising’, ‘Bigg Boss Marathi 2’, and recently became a guest commentator in one of the matches of IPL 2023 between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals.
Sharing more about his collaboration with Mayur, Shiv said: “I know Mayur. He is a very creative person and does make such things. In one minute, he has shown my full journey of Bigg Boss, from words like ‘Aai Shappath’, ‘Aai Cha Gawat’, ‘O Mandali’ to love from people and Ganpati Bappa. He just asked me for my time to shoot the video.”
Talking about what he liked about the video, Bigg Boss 16 finalist said: “The way I was portrayed in it.”
“The way he presented Shiv Thakare I really enjoyed watching it and people also loved it. Within an hour of posting it, people started sharing, liking, and commenting on it. Also, it has gone viral to the extent that people have started calling me and complimenting me personally,” Shiv said.

Praising Mayur, he said: “While shooting for the video also, Mayur was so concerned about me. He keeps asking me whether I am comfortable with certain dance steps or not.”

Telangana: Maharashtra Shiv Sena leader Dilip Gore joins BRS

Hyderabad: Maharashtra Shiv Sena leader Dilip Gore here on Wednesday joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi in the presence of Chief Minister and BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao.
KCR formally welcomed Shiv Sena Beed district president Gore into the BRS by offering him the party scarf.
On Sunday, the Vice president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra Syed Abdul Khadeer Maulana joined the BRS.

While on Saturday, over 150 leaders from Shetkari Sangathana led by its State Youth president Sudhir Sudhakarrao Bindu joined the BRS.
On Wednesday, BRS leaders staged a protest outside Hanumakonda District Court against Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Bandi Sanjay while he was bought to produce before the magistrate.
Telangana BJP president Sanjay was detained post-midnight on Wednesday from his residence in Karimnagar ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state.
The police have registered a case under sections 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 4(A), 6 TS Public Examinations (Prevention of Malpractices and 66-D ITA-2000-2008 at the Kamlapur police station of Warangal district.
PM Modi is scheduled to visit Telangana on April 8 to inaugurate the Vande Bharat Express from Secunderabad to Tirupati and launch several other developmental projects.

‘Shift Aurangzeb’s grave to Hyderabad’, demands Shiv Sena MLA

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The ruling Shiv Sena legislator Sanjay Shirshat on Monday demanded that the grave of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar should be shifted to Hyderabad.
The city MLA Shirsat’s quirky call came in response to the indefinite agitation launched by All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) on Saturday protesting the name change of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and reverting to the old ‘Aurangabad’.
“If they have so much love for Aurangzeb, then shift his grave to Hyderabad… Let them build a memorial there or do whatever they want, nobody will bother, but stop this agitation,” declared Shirsat, who belongs to the faction led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Reacting, the local AIMIM President Shareq Naqshbandi dismissed the SS leader’s demand as “only politics and intended to create disharmony among communities to consolidate their position”.
“If they have so much hatred for Emperor Aurangzeb, then why did they take the G20 delegates on a tour to view his wife Rabia-ul-Daurani’s tomb, the ‘Bibi Ka Maqbara’, built in 1668, by their son Muhammad Azam Shah,” Naqshbandi countered.
Going further, he asked, with so much animosity for the past rulers, why the Bharatiya Janata Party government wants to earn revenues from the Taj Mahal (Agra) and other monuments for its coffers.
Naqshbandi said that since the BJP and its allies have no issues left to take to the people they are resorting to such politics and driving a wedge among different sections of society.
Last month, the Centre okayed a state government proposal to rename Aurangabad to ‘Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar’ and Osmanabad to ‘Dharashiv’.

However, other parties like Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, Nationalist Congress Party, have not yet responded to Shirsat’s outburst.
Meanwhile, last week the AIMIM state President Syed Imtiaz Jaleel, MP, demanded that the names of Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Kolhapur and Malegaon must also be changed in honour of prominent icons.
He has suggested Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Mahanagar (Mumbai), Jyotiba-Savitri Phule Nagar (Pune), Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Nagar (Nagpur), Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Nagar (Kolhapur) and Maulana Azad Nagar (Malegaon).

EC a slave of those in power; it can never take away Shiv Sena from me: Uddhav

Khed: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday targetted the Election Commission over allotting the party’s name and symbol to the rebel faction and termed the poll body a “slave” of people in power.
Dubbing the EC a “chuna lagav” commission weeks after losing the party name and election symbol “bow and arrow” to the faction led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Thackeray said the poll body can never take away the party, founded by his father late Bal Thackeray, from him.
He said it was Bal Thackeray who stood with the Bharatiya Janata Party when it was politically “untouchable”, and dared the former ally to seek votes in Maharashtra only in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi without invoking the Thackeray senior.
“You (the Election Commission) have taken away the party name and the symbol from us, but you can’t take away Shiv Sena from me,” the former chief minister said pointing out a huge turnout at a rally, his first after losing the party name and election symbol.
“I have nothing to offer to you. I have come to seek your blessings and support,” he told the gathering.
Khed constituency in Ratnagiri district in the coastal Konkan region is the home turf of former Thackeray loyalist Ramdas Kadam, who has switched allegiance to the Shinde-led faction.
In a big blow to Uddhav Thackeray, the Election Commission last month allotted the name Shiv Sena’ and its poll symbol to the group led by Shinde who has the support of most of the MLAs of Shiv Sena.
Thackeray said he didn’t accept the EC’s decision.

“If the Election Commission is not suffering from cataract, it should come and see the ground situation. The EC is a ‘chuna lagav’ commission and a slave of those in power. The principle based on which the EC took this decision is wrong,’ he said.
Thackeray said the party has appealed in the Supreme Court.
He said the BJP was trying to finish off Shiv Sena brutally and cruelly but won’t succeed.
He said the move to destroy Shiv Sena was akin to the attack on the unity of Marathi people as well as Hindus.
“When BJP was untouchable in politics, Balasaheb Thackeray stood by that party,” the former chief minister said.
He said earlier sadhus and sants used to be part of the BJP but the party is now full of opportunists.
“The largest number of corrupt people are in BJP. First, they (BJP) accuse the people in the Opposition of corruption. However, those accused of corruption are then inducted into BJP,” he said.
Dismissing the criticism that he did not venture out of his house when he was the chief minister (November 2019-June 2022), Thackeray said, “I didn’t go out because of the COVID pandemic but I worked from home, and my work was praised during the pandemic”.
He said his supporters will decide whether they want him as the party president and not the Election Commission.
“People will have to decide whether they want me or Eknath Shinde. I will accept the verdict of the people but not of the EC. If people say they don’t want me, I will leave just like I had left ‘Varsha’ (the official residence of Maharashtra chief minister after resigning from the post”), he said.
Targetting BJP, he said like Eknath Shinde who “stole” my (Uddhav Thackeray’s) father, the BJP has “stolen sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Subhash Chandra Bose because that party has no icons to bank on”.
” When you see someone with a bow and arrow, he is a thief. Will you vote for him (a reference to Shinde)?” he asked the audience.
“Earlier, the BJP’s dais used to be full of sadhus and sants but now it is full of opportunists. I dare the BJP to seek votes in Maharashtra only in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and not Balasaheb Thackeray,” Thackeray added.
He appealed to his supporters to make BJP bite the dust in the elections in Maharashtra.

Shiv Sena row: Shinde faction now focusd on ‘ownership’ of Shiv Sena Bhavan, ‘Saamana’

Mumbai: With the Election Commission (EC) recognising Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s faction as the real Shiv Sena, it remains to be seen whether his group also stakes claim to the party headquarters ‘Shiv Sena Bhavan’ and party mouthpiece ‘Saamana’, both currently controlled by the Uddhav Thackeray camp.
While the Shiv Sena Bhavan is located at Dadar in central Mumbai, the ‘Saamana’ head office is situated in the nearby Prabhadevi area. Both these establishments are currently run by different trusts.
CM Shinde has maintained that he would not stake claim to the Shiv Sena Bhavan even though he has got the party name and symbol. However, the rival camp is wary and on guard. Recently, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader and Thane MP Rajan Vichare submitted a letter to Thane Police Commissioner Jai Jeet Singh, urging him to thwart any attempts by the Shinde group to usurp the Shiv Sena ‘shakhas’ (local party offices) in the city.
The EC last week recognised the Shinde faction as the real Shiv Sena and allotted it the party’s ‘bow and arrow’ symbol, giving a jolt to the Thackeray camp. Earlier, the Shinde group was officially referred to as ‘Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena’ and the Thackeray group as Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray). The Supreme Court is hearing various petitions related to the tussle between the Shinde and Thackeray factions.
Due to the EC verdict, the Thackeray family lost control of the party that was founded in 1966 by Bal Thackeray. The party, founded on the principles of justice for the sons of the soil, had adopted Hindutva as its key ideology and partnered with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1984, an alliance that continued till 2019 when Uddhav Thackeray joined hands with arch-rivals Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress to become the chief minister.
The Shiv Sena Bhavan is controlled by ‘Shivai Seva Trust’. Its founding trustees include late Bal Thackeray and his wife late Meena Thackeray. Many of the founding trustees are not alive now.
Its present trustees include senior leaders Subhash Desai, Diwakar Raote, Leeladhar Dake, former Mumbai mayor Vishaka Raut and Uddhav Thackeray himself.
While ‘Saamana’, the Shiv Sena mouthpiece founded by late Bal Thackeray, is managed by Prabhodhan Prakashan, whose printer-publisher is Thackeray loyalist Subhash Desai.

Uddhav Thackeray had resigned as the editor of ‘Saamana’ after assuming the chief minister’s charge in November 2019. He had handed over the editor’s post to his wife Rashmi Thackeray in March 2020. However, after the Shiv Sena split, Uddhav again took over as the editor in August 2022. Sanjay Raut is the executive editor of the party mouthpiece.
Senior journalist Prakash Akolkar, who has written ‘Jai Maharashtra’ – a book on Shiv Sena’s history, said, “CM Shinde has taken a mature decision of not staking claim to the Shiv Sena Bhavan and Saamana as both these institutions are operated by private trusts. Staking claim to these establishments would lead to further legal complications. It is also his indirect message to supporters to exercise restraint.”
Harshal Pradhan, a close aide of Uddhav Thackeray, said there are 350 Shiv Sena ‘shakhas’ in Mumbai, while outside Mumbai there is one such unit in each municipal ward.
Shakhas are the premises where the Shiv Sainiks (party workers) gather for political meetings, resolving local issues of citizens.
Vaibhav Purandare, the author of ‘Bal Thackeray and the Rise of the Shiv Sena’ said, “As a political party, the Shiv Sena directly owns very few properties. Shiv Sena Bhavan and Saamana are owned by trusts. While most of the Shiv Sena shakhas are either owned by the ‘shakha pramukhs’ or by private individuals who have given their property to set up these offices. It is up to these individuals to decide which way to go.”

SC refuses to stay EC order recognising Shinde faction as real Shiv Sena

New Delhi: The Supreme Court Wednesday refused to stay the Election Commission order recognising the Eknath Shinde-led bloc as the real Shiv Sena and issued a notice to the group headed by the Maharashtra chief minister on the plea of the rival Uddhav Thackeray camp challenging the poll panel’s decision.
A bench headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud took note of the submissions of senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Thackeray, and sought response of the faction led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Shinde.
The counsel for the Shinde faction told the bench, also comprising Justices P S Narasimha and J B Pardiwala, that it will not issue any whip or initiate process to disqualify the lawmakers of the Thackeray faction in the meantime.
“All right, issue notice. The counter affidavit will be filed within two weeks,” the bench said.
While issuing notice, the bench, however, refused to stay the decision of the poll panel acknowledging the Shinde faction as the real Shiv Sena, saying it cannot be done without hearing the other side.
The top court had on Tuesday agreed to hear the plea of the Thackeray camp against the Election Commission’s decision.
Besides recognising the Shinde-led bloc as the real Shiv Sena, the poll panel had also ordered allotment of the party’s original ‘bow and arrow’ poll symbol to it.

Another blow to Thackeray as Shinde faction gets Shiv Sena office

New Delhi: After the Election Commission gave Shiv Sena’s name and poll symbol to the Eknath Shinde faction, the Uddhav Thackeray group suffered another major setback as the office allotted to Shiv Sena in the Parliament House in Delhi was given to the Shinde faction.
The Lok Sabha Secretariat allotted room number-128, earlier allocated to Shiv Sena party, to Eknath Shinde faction on Monday.
The Secretariat wrote a letter to Rahul Shewale, the leader of the Eknath Shinde faction in Lok Sabha, informing him of the same.
Moreover, the Supreme Court on Tuesday agreed to hear on Wednesday a plea by Uddhav Thackeray against the Election Commission of India (ECI) decision recognising the Eknath Shinde faction as the official Shiv Sena.
On February 17, the Election Commission allotted the Shiv Sena party name and the bow and arrow symbol to the faction led by Eknath Shinde.

Uddhav holds meeting with his camp leaders at Shiv Sena Bhavan in Mumbai

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray on Monday held an urgent meeting with his close associates at the Shiv Sena Bhavan in Mumbai to decide their future course of action, specially after losing the ‘Shiv Sena’ name and poll symbol ‘bow and arrow’ to the faction led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Leaders close to Thackeray, including Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut, Subhash Desai, Anil Desai and Anil Parab, were present in the meeting held at the Sena Bhavan located in Dadar area.
Thackeray has also invited several district level leaders of his camp to discuss the future course of action.
The Election Commission on Friday recognised the Shinde-led faction as the real Shiv Sena and ordered allocation of the ‘bow and arrow’ poll symbol to it, in the process delivering a big blow to Uddhav Thackeray, whose father Bal Thackeray founded the outfit in 1966.
The EC allowed the Thackeray faction to retain the name Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and the flaming torch’ poll symbol, given to it in an interim order in October last year, till the conclusion of the upcoming Assembly bypolls in the state.
Former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray had on Sunday said all political parties need to open their eyes and remain cautious in the wake of the Election Commission’s decision of recognising the faction led by CM Eknath Shinde as the real Shiv Sena.

Opinion: How Shinde group gets name, symbol of Shiv Sena

I was not surprised to hear that the Shinde group gets the name and symbol of Shiv Sena. However, the compulsion, helplessness of the Election Commission, and the pressure of the government were realized. Ever since this government came to power, the constitution has been constantly being threatened, and independent bodies such as the President, ED, Income Tax department, CBI, which is not needed because no one would have been punished for their actions. The Election Commission which has left with no merits has been playing the role of the government’s puppet.
When it has been proved that EVM can be rigged with no trouble and in the developed countries where people calculate each second, they vote with ballot paper and use their right to vote by standing in long queues and on the other hand the Indians who waste a lot of time, however, the voting is being done through EVM, which is directly benefiting the BJP and these people are coming back to power despite poor governance and leading the country towards destruction, where 40 crore people are forced to have meal ones a day. The 55-year-old unemployment record was broken.
The BJP lacked candidates in 2019 elections, so a convict, who was serving a sentence for her serious crime in jail, was first released on parole, then given ticket to fight election against the former chief minister and was manage to win the election with the help of EVM.
The Supreme Court, while hearing the results of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, ruled that the results of 357 seats are suspicious where more votes were polled than the voters. However, instead of disregarding the results, the judiciary remained silent.
Shiv Sena was founded in 1966 in order to weaken the labour union, the then Prime Minister known as Iron Lady enters in coalition with Bal Thackeray who was a cartoonist and the formation of this coalition weakened the labour union, however, due to Bal Thackeray’s hard work and efforts, the party got control over Bombay Municipality with public mandate. The budget of Bombay Municipality is equal to the budget of a small state and this municipality includes Bombay Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) as well.
Shiv Sena started participating in the state assembly elections after gaining complete control over the municipality and as a party with a sectarian mentality, it allied with the BJP and in the 2014 assembly elections, with the support of the minority political party, the coalition manages to cut the votes of secular parties on 30 to 35 seats. The minority party was succeeded in dispersing the minority votes, resulting in the Shiv Sena in coalition with BJP came to power for the first time and immediately after the swearing-in ceremony, a complete ban was imposed on cow slaughter, as a result, about 5 lakhs people have lost their jobs who were into this business.
In the 2019 assembly elections, the minority political party nominated 55 candidates and once again the secular political parties suffered a loss, but due to the stubbornness of a fugitive and the wisdom of the NCP president, the government was formed by the alliance of Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress. Shiv Sena’s action has made the people sympathetic towards it and a different type of government with ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ motto was formed.

However, the BJP succeeded in creating differences in Shiv Sena and nominated Eknath Shinde, an auto driver as the Chief Minister for the first time in 75 years of independence. The former Chief Minister gladly accepted the position of Deputy Chief Minister which shows that he can fall to any extent in the greed of power.
Now, in the fight for succession of the original Shiv Sena, the Election Commission has given decisions in favour of Eknath Shinde and handed over their distinctive election symbol of arrow and bow. However, the people of India are well aware of the formation of Shiv Sena and its founder Bal Thackeray. In this way, Udhav Thackeray is the legal heir and has the right to lead the party. The Shiv Sena has filed a petition in the Supreme Court and if the Chief Justice of India hears this matter, Udhav Thackray may get his rights.

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday said all political parties need to open their eyes and remain cautious in the wake of the Election Commission’s decision of recognising the faction led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde as the real Shiv Sena.
The Election Commission (EC) on Friday recognised the Shinde-led faction as the real Shiv Sena and ordered allocation of the ‘bow and arrow’ poll symbol to it, in the process delivering a big blow to Thackeray, whose father Bal Thackeray founded the outfit in 1966.
“What has happened to Shiv Sena, how we have been treated, can happen to you too. All parties should keep their eyes open and be cautious,” Thackeray said during an interaction with members of north Indian community here.
“You want my father’s face, but not his son. I was ready to come along. If you ditch me when I wanted to implement a promise given to my father, what should I do?” he asked while targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“I never wanted to be a chief minister, but was asked by Congress and NCP to take over because otherwise a government could not have been formed. Had BJP honoured the commitment given, both Shiv Sena and BJP would have got their chief ministers for two-and-a-half years each,” he said.
Some people from my party defected. Those who want to leave can go, but they should merge with another party. However, they want to throw me out of my house and take it over, he alleged.
My father groomed these people and Shiv Sainiks supported them. But now they want to become owners and our institutions are such that they have made a thief the owner of the house. What is happening in the country, he asked.
But what has happened is good because people are angry and realised what has happened is wrong, Thackeray added.

Taking a jibe at Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Thackeray said, “‘Mogambo khush hua’ on the Election Commission order.”
Thackeray said the BJP pushed him towards joining hands with the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) as it dishonoured a commitment given.
“I have left the BJP and not Hindutva. I don’t accept BJP’s Hindutva which divides people. The BJP is misleading Hindus, who are now awakened, by bringing issues like ‘hijab’ and cow slaughter during elections. There was a Hindu Akrosh Morcha in Mumbai recently. Why should Hindus make ‘akrosh’ when a powerful leader is ruling the country,” he asked.
Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Thackeray said, “The leader whom we voted for a strong India, himself became strong while the country has become weak.”
Terming as “injustice” the EC’s decision to allot Shiv Sena name and party symbol to the Shinde faction, he said, “This is dirty politics. If you wanted to fight against Shiv Sena, you could have come on the poll field and let people decide.”
Thackeray said Shiv Sena was never against Muslims and north Indians.
“All those who consider India as their motherland are our brothers,” he said.
This is Thackeray’s second interaction with members of the north Indian community settled in Mumbai by Thackeray in the last few days.
