  • Sharad Pawar has failed to create successor who can take NCP forward: Shiv Sena (UBT)

Sharad Pawar has failed to create successor who can take NCP forward: Shiv Sena (UBT)

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) on Monday claimed Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar has failed to create a successor who could take his party forward.

An editorial in Shiv Sena (UBT) mouthpiece Saamana also claimed the jumbo committee set up to decide on the new president of NCP after Pawar announced his decision to step down included some members who were keen to go with the ruling BJP. But these members were compelled to ask Pawar to continue due to pressure from NCP cadres, it said.

Notably, the Thackeray-led faction is one of the three constituents of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) along with the NCP and Congress.

    MS Education Academy

“Sharad Pawar is like an old banyan tree in politics who had left the Congress party, founded NCP, and expanded it. Pawar is indeed an important figure in national politics and his words command respect. However, he has failed to create a successor who could take his party forward,” the editorial said.

This was reflected when Pawar announced his resignation as NCP chief, which left many (leaders) shattered to their core, it said.

“Pawar has a fair idea of people around him and their intentions. Pawar had said he would not stop those (leaders) who want to leave NCP. It (the announcement of resignation and its withdrawal which galvanised party cadres) means those who wanted to defect have temporarily suspended their plans,” the Shiv Sena (UBT) said.

The Saamana claimed the pressure mounted by NCP cadres compelled the jumbo committee set up to decide on the new president of NCP to ask Pawar to continue in the position.

Sharad Pawar last Friday decided to rescind his decision to resign as NCP chief, heeding to pleas of party leaders and cadres, three days after he announced his decision to step down.

The editorial has evoked a stinging reaction from NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal who rebuked Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, the executive editor of Saamana, which is published in Marathi and Hindi languages.

“Uddhav Thackeray has already clarified what Sharad Pawar has written in his autobiography ‘Lok Majhe Sangati’. Thackeray had said he didn’t want to create any problems in Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). Why is Sanjay Raut doing this? What is his problem? Does he think that the NCP shall leave the MVA? Sharad Pawar Saheb has done politics for years equal to your age,” Bhujbal said in Nashik.

He said there are capable leaders like Ajit Pawar, Supriya Sule and Jayant Patil in the MVA who can ably handle whatever responsibilities assigned to them.

The editorial also took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP.

“The BJP is calling Pawar’s resignation a political farce. But it should look at its own leader Narendra Modi who is world famous for farcical behaviour. The BJP is the only party that doesn’t wish anything good to happen in other political parties,” it said.

The current BJP is formed by breaking and wrecking other political parties in the country, it alleged.

“Pawar returning to head the NCP has not only re-energised that party, but several Opposition parties in the country also felt relieved. Those who are getting ready to join the BJP should first answer the question of whether they want to live for 100 days like a lamb or one day like a tiger,” the editorial asked.

The Saamana further said people will end the political careers of those leaders who will defect and join the BJP.

“No matter how big a lieutenant is, joining BJP is like inviting trouble,” it said.

Without taking names, the editorial claimed the leaders who had ditched Shiv Sena are facing a worse situation than that of a dog living on a pile of garbage.

“There is not an iota of morality left in the BJP. People can join the BJP under the threat of ED or CBI but the sword will continue to hang on their heads for the rest of their life,” it said.

The Pawar saga also means that leaders do not represent a political party, but its workers do, it said.

“When hoards of party workers gathered outside Pawar’s residence and the party office, it gave a clear message. After Eknath Shinde’s rebellion, Shiv Sena witnessed the same thing. MLAs and MPs left Shiv Sena but party workers are still with the original Sena,” the Saamana said.

Sanjay has led to doom of MVA and Shiv Sena (UBT), says Shirsat

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: The Shiv Sena on Wednesday accused Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut of leading the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and the Shiv Sena (UBT) to their doom.

Talking to reporters, Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Shirsat also said that Raut had a war of words with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar, who will not tolerate it.

“Sanjay Raut has led to the doom of the MVA and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena,” Shirsat said.

    MS Education Academy

Ajit Pawar on Tuesday slammed Raut without taking the latter’s name and said spokespersons of other parties were behaving like NCP’s spokespersons.

The NCP leader was apparently upset over Raut’s weekly column ‘Rokhthok’ in his party mouthpiece ‘Saamana’, in which he claimed NCP president Sharad Pawar recently told Uddhav Thackeray that his party would never join hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) even if anyone takes an individual decision to do so.

  • 48 hrs after Shiv Sena (UBT)’s plea, Maha govt bans open-air rallies

48 hrs after Shiv Sena (UBT)’s plea, Maha govt bans open-air rallies

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: In a major decision, the Maharashtra government has banned all open-air public meetings/rallies between 12 noon to 5 p.m., state Tourism Minister Mangal Prabha Lodha said here on Wednesday.

The move came three days after the deaths of 14 people, ‘Shrisadasyas’, who died hours after Union Home Minister Amit Shah conferred the ‘Maharashtra Bhushan Award’ 2022 on social reformer Dattatreya Narayan Dharmadhikari, revered as Appasaheb, at an open-air event which attracted an estimated 20 lakh followers.

The development also came 48 hours after Shiv Sena (UBT) Kishore Tiwari made a strong plea to the Centre and state governments to come out with a set of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all such mega-events and prevent recurrence of such calamities with loss of precious human lives.

    MS Education Academy

Lodha said that the decision has been taken after the “unfortunate disaster in Navi Mumbai and to avoid similar tragedies in future”.

State Congress President Nana Patole said on Wednesday that given new social media photos/videos, the government must clarify whether the deaths took place due to a stampede at the award venue.

“What is the truth, and what is the government suppressing? Both the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis must resign. I am appealing to Governor Ramesh Bais to sack this regime,” Patole said sternly.

On Tuesday, Nationalist Congress Party’s Leader of Opposition Ajit Pawar had demanded a judicial probe by a retired judge into the tragedy, and lodging culpable homicide cases against all those found guilty for the shortcomings.

Pointing out that the state government had sqaundered Rs 13 crore for the Rs 25-Lakh Maharashtra Bhushan Award, Tiwari asked Shinde-Fadnavis to give compensation of at least Rs 1 crore to the kin of each deceased who hailed from very poor families.

Senior leaders of other political parties including Atul Londe, Clyce Crasto, Dr. Raghunath Kuchik, Trade Unions Joint Action Committee state convenor Vishwas Utagi, NGOs and social activists have slammed the state government for the lapses leading to the tragedy.

Moved by the tragedy, Shah expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives after he gave away the Maharashtra Bhushan Award to Appasaheb Dharmadhikari on Sunday.

“My heart is heavy with the passing of the ‘Shrisadasyas’ who lost their lives due to heatstroke while attending the Maharashtra Bhushan Award ceremony held yesterday I pray for the speedy recovery of those who are undergoing treatment,” said Shah.

There is one Shiv Sena, others are traitors: Aditya Thackeray

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Terming the current Maharashtra government as “highly autocratic, highly dictatorial and opaque”, Yuva Sena president Aaditya Thackeray said on Tuesday that there’s only one Shiv Sena and the others are “gaddars” (traitors).

“They (Eknath Shinde group) have tried to steal everything from us, they’ve tried to steal our party logo and party name. They’re trying to do everything they can. But the fact of the matter is: Someone who has run away with everything can only be tagged as a chor (thief), nothing beyond that,” he said, while interacting with the students of GITAM (Deemed to be University) at its Hyderabad campus, as part of a Changemakers session moderated by Smita Sharma, visiting faculty, Kautilya School of Public Policy.

“It is sad to see that Maharashtra — which was competing amongst the top five states in the Covid times and was one of the top players in terms of investment, tourism, sustainability, urban growth — is now lagging. During our time as MVA government, we saw zero incidence of communal violence, everyone worked together, the state had Rs 6.5 lakh crore as investment coming in, we had multiple MoUs for factories coming up there.

    MS Education Academy

“Today, look at where Maharashtra is. We have an unconstitutional government, which is keeping aside the constitution and running a government which is highly autocratic, highly dictatorial, and opaque. We’re not one of the most attractive states for investment, because of political instability,” said the Shiv Sena-UBT leader and MLA from Mumbai’s Worli.

“At least some people in the past had the guts to call an Emergency an Emergency – Today we’re in an undeclared Emergency. To completely knock out any opposition and alternate voices is troublesome for a country,” he said.

Reaffirming his faith in people and judiciary, Thackeray iterated that it’s very crucial to see which debates we choose for ourselves. “What we engage in our country today is religion vs religion, region vs region — everything apart from the core issues. Are we debating unemployment, inflation, and problems we face as citizens? We’re not debating the right things, we’re fighting over something that happened 50-60 years ago, over the personalities that lived 100 years ago or whether some king/emperor did the right thing. But we are not fighting for the future. What will our future generations think?”

  • No Shiv Sena worker involvement in Babri Masjid demolition, claims Maha minister

No Shiv Sena worker involvement in Babri Masjid demolition, claims Maha minister

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Maharashtra minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Chandrakant Patil on Monday said not a single worker of the Shiv Sena was near the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya when it was brought down by the Bajrang Dal and Durga Vahini on December 6, 1992.

Patil, minister of higher and technical education in the Eknath Shinde government and a former Maharashtra BJP chief, made the comment while speaking to a regional news channel.

Incidentally, Shiv Sena founder late Bal Thackeray has often been quoted as saying that he was proud if any of his Sainiks took part in the demolition of the disputed structure.

    MS Education Academy

“I was placed there by the Bajrang Dal for three-four months to facilitate kar sevaks arriving in Ayodhya. People participating were either from Bajrang Dal, VHP or Durga Vahini. Former Bihar state deputy CM (and senior BJP leader) Sushil Kumar Modi, legislator Harendra Kumar and I were given the task to manage the kar sevaks and ensure their safe passage,” Patil claimed.

“We three were working there as national general secretaries. The RSS’ strength was behind us but it did not participate openly. It had distributed its work to like minded organisations,” Patil claimed.

Patil further said Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut keeps talking about the Babri Masjid demolition, adding he wondered if the latter was even there at the temple town in Uttar Pradesh at the time.

He also took a swipe at Uddhav Thackeray for accusing Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of stealing the legacy of Bal Thackeray.

The late Shiv Sena founder was not the property of anyone and was someone who was hugely respected by the people, Patil added.

“Balasaheb is the property of all Hindus and everyone is free to use his name (legacy),” said Patil.

The Shiv Sena split in June last year after the rebellion by Shinde, who got the party name and ‘bow and arrow’ symbol, while Uddhav Thackeray’s faction was christened Shiv Sena (UBT) with a flaming torch as its symbol.
