Apologize to Telangana farmers for ignoring them: Sharmila to KCR

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: YSR Telangana party (YSRTP) chief YS Sharmila on Monday came down heavily on CM KCR, for his ‘sinister plot to unconditionally gift Sri Ram Sagar Project waters to Maharashtra.

It is absolutely ridiculous and autocratic on part of the chief minister to openly offer Maharashtra to take Sriram Sagar Project waters. This project is the legacy and lifeline of Telangana, irrigating more than 16 lakh acres, and no one has the right to play with the farmers in this manner.

“How can KCR openly invite them to lift SRSP waters?” she asked, adding that Maharashtra had already built several illegal projects on the river Godavari, locking horns with Telangana in this regard.

“KCR has looted the state treasury and plunged us into a crisis of more than Rs 4 lakh crore debt. On top of it, he has not kept any of his promises. Now he is giving a green signal for the loot of SRSP waters, which are already mired in litigation, sunk by the layers of silt, ultimately leading to the suffering of the north Telangana farmers,” added Y S Sharmila.

“The worst is his reluctance dislike towards the slogan Jai Telangana, the sentiment and the expression that he exploited for decades to come into power, and loot the state. Leave the state of affairs to him, longer and he will even sell Hyderabad and Charminar. As such there are multiple issues with the neighbouring states on river waters,” said Y S Sharmila.

She further added that KCR is an insensitive chief minister who is concerned about the plight of Nanded farmers, but conveniently fails to own 8000 plus farmer suicides in Telangana, during his rule.

This is from NCRB, Police and Rythu Swaraj records. Why isn’t he owing up or speaking on these suicides that are a result of his inefficient rule where all the subsidies were withdrawn, loan waiver was not done at all, last three years saw crop loss to the tune of Rs 3000 crore, but no compensation given, no insurance to farmers aged above 60 years.

“If this is the plight, why won’t the Telangana farmer choose to die? We demand that you give an explanation and apology to the Telangana farmer, before continuing your cheap ‘Ab kee bar Kisan Sarkar’ politics, across the country.” she said.

KCR failed to develop Warangal as Dallas: Sharmila

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader Y.S. Sharmila on Sunday lashed out at Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for his failure to develop Warangal and recalled that he had promised to develop the city as Dallas.

She addressed a massive public meeting near Hanamkonda petrol bunk as part of her ongoing padyatra.

She highlighted that CM KCR had earlier promised an annual fund of Rs 300 crore to the corporation, irrespective of its revenues. His hollow promise of transforming Warangal into Dallas is a lie, she said.

The YSRTP leader said that KCR’s other promises such as making Warangal an IT hub on the lines of Hyderabad, generating thousands of jobs, reviving Mamnoor airstrip into a full-fledged airport, industrialisation, metro rail for the city, all have been fake promises.

“What about the model journalist colony supposed to be the world’s largest,” she asked.

Sharmila said land for Mega Textile Park was acquired with high-handedness but not even a single plant can be seen. “What happened to the underground drainage system? Floods wreak havoc but no traces of sidewalls or other relief and reconstruction measures as promised?” she asked.

She said that last year’s untimely rains damaged crops in 56,000 acres in the district and 25,000 farmers suffered losses to the tune of Rs 900 crore, but no compensation was paid.

“Even the great poet Sri Kaloji Narayan Rao was insulted. Where is the world class auditorium named after him?” Sharmila questioned.

Hyderabad: Sharmila to meet governor today

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: YSRTP founder-president YS Sharmila would meet Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan today at the Raj Bhavan. The meeting is scheduled to be held at 12 noon. She will submit a representation to the Governor highlighting the failures of the nine-year rule of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. Sharmila will leave for her padayatra directly after meeting the Governor at Raj Bhavan. The padayatra will be resumed at 3 pm at Sankaramma thanda of Chennaraopeta mandal of Narsampeta Assembly constituency.

It may be noted here that the Warangal police have granted conditional permission to Sharmila to hold her padayatra. Although the YSRTP sought permission from the police to hold the padayatra from January 28, the police granted it to hold the padayatra from February 2 to February 18, 2023.

The police imposed 15 conditions on Sharmila to hold her Yatra. They asked her to begin her padayatra from 10 am every day and end at 7 pm every day. The padayatra of Sharmila will be held in all the remaining Assembly constituencies of the undivided Warangal district. The padayatra will conclude in Palair Assembly constituency of Khammam district with the conduct of a public meeting.

  • Telangana: As Sharmila prepares to resume walk, she emerges a challenger

Telangana: As Sharmila prepares to resume walk, she emerges a challenger

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Till a few weeks ago, political pundits in Telangana were hardly taking note of Y. S. Sharmila but today she has emerged as a serious player who can no longer be ignored.

The alleged attack by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) activists to stop her state-wide padyatra in November shows that the YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) has become a thorn in the flesh for the ruling party.

Sharmila’s detention after the attack on her padyatra, her subsequent attempt to stage a protest at Chief Minister KCR’s residence in Hyderabad, her dramatic arrest with a car with Sharmila sitting inside being towed away by the police and her hunger strike to protest hurdles being created by the BRS government in the resumption of her padyatra all helped her to capture public attention.

Political observers say Sharmila succeeded in gaining sympathy in some sections by portraying herself as a woman who is at the receiving end for questioning the KCR government.

The daughter of former chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy has drawn the ire of the BRS by launching a bitter attack on its ministers, MLAs and MPs during the padyatra. Her verbal attacks provoked BRS leaders, triggering strong protests and even physical attacks.

When Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy floated the YSRTP in 2021, not many took her seriously. The BJP and the Congress had dubbed her the arrow of KCR to divide the anti-incumbency votes, especially the votes of the powerful Reddy community.

Interestingly, Sharmila’s foray into Telangana politics was not liked by her brother who wants to confine himself to Andhra Pradesh. She, however, received support of her mother Vijayamma, who last year resigned as the honorary president of the YSRCP.

Last month, Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan condemned the manner in which Sharmila was arrested and several BJP leaders expressed solidarity with her.

There were reports that Prime Minister Narendra Modi called her but she refused to answer queries about it. All this prompted the BRS leaders including KCR’s daughter K. Kavitha to dub her a BJP plant in the state.

Sharmila, however, claims that the YSRTP is the only party that is fighting on behalf of the people of Telangana. She said both the Congress and the BJP failed to expose the failures and corruption of KCR.

The YSRTP leader even submitted ‘documentary proof’ of corruption in the Kaleshwaram project to the Central Bureau of Investigation.

“YSR Telangana Party is today a threat to KCR and his BRS and they have bitterly turned against us. If you are not scared of the changing public mood and the growing strength of our party, why these attacks,” she asked.

In October 2021, she embarked on a padyatra like her late father YSR, who had undertaken a walkathon in then united Andhra Pradesh in 2003 and led the Congress party back to power in 2004.

She has been constantly reassuring people that Rajanna Rajyam or the golden era welfare of the late YSR would be brought back, if the party was voted to power.

Sharmila has already covered over 3500 km and is set to resume the walkathon this week from Warangal district where it was stopped by BRS supporters on November 28, 2022.

The YSRTP is yet to attract major leaders from other parties. A couple of days ago, former MP from Khammam and BRS leader Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy met her, triggering speculation that he will switch loyalties to the YSRTP.

Sharmila has already announced that she will contest elections from Palair, one of the Assembly segments of Khammam Lok Sabha constituency. Ever since launching the YSRTP, she has been focusing on Khammam district, which is located on the border with Andhra Pradesh.

According to political analysts, she chose Palair as it is considered a soft seat for a debut. The party will be looking to capitalize on the advantages Khammam district offers with the strong social and cultural influence of Andhra Pradesh.

As her evangelist husband Anil Kumar hails from Telangana, Sharmila calls herself a daughter-in-law of Telangana to counter those calling her non-local.

However, analysts say as Telangana sentiment is not going to be strong this time and the TRS itself becoming BRS to expand to other states including Andhra Pradesh, Sharmila and her party may not face any adverse campaign by those who see it as an Andhra party.

Telangana: Sharmila lashes out at KCR for not holding R-Day parade

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Telangana Party chief Y S Sharmila came down heavily on chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) for attempting to cancel the full-fledged Republic Day parade and other celebratory activities.

Sharmila hoisted the national flag at the YSRTP office premises here on Thursday.

Attacking KCR, she accused him of disrespecting the Indian Constitution. “His utter disrespect towards the Indian Constitution is yet again evident in his reluctance to conduct a full-fledged Republic Day event at Parade Grounds. What a shameful irony, he dishonors the Constitution of the country, and then dreams to rule the country!” she said.

She also asked why the ‘promises’ made by KCR during the formative days of Telangana is not yet fulfilled. “This is the same KCR who, by taking Constitutional cover often, sparked off the Telangana sentiment and became chief minister. Today, he shows scant respect for the Constitution, by breaching every promise he had made. What stops him from keeping his promises, from making a CM Dalit to building double-bedroom houses or giving one job per family to giving zero-interest loans to women?” she asked.

  • Telangana: Sharmila to resume padayatra from Jan 28

Telangana: Sharmila to resume padayatra from Jan 28

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: YSR Telangana party chief Y S Sharmila on Tuesday announced the resumption of her ‘Praja Prasthanam Padyatra‘ on January 28.

The leader came down heavily on chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and mocked him for ‘enthralling’ in national politics while keeping Telangana citizens in distress for the past nine years.

“It has been only the YSRTP that steadfastly and unconditionally took on KCR and his corrupt and tyrannical government. We never bowed down even when they tried hard to corner us, abusing power and authority,” said the YSR chief.

“With honesty in our intentions and affection for Telangana, and above all, recalling the people-friendly reign of YSR, we travelled across Telangana and covered 3500km, only to be troubled and threatened by KCR, who was now scared of our growing prominence and the manner in which we exposed their local MLAs and MPs.” added Sharmila.

Recounting the chain of events that she claimed were born out of KCR’s growing sense of insecurity, Sharmila went on to add, “We will continue to battle his inefficient rule marked by failed promise, as we did with Kaleshwaram or Palamuru or unemployment or other issues.”

“My entry to Paleru has rocked his morale and now he realized that the YSRTP is growing in its popularity and presence in the entire district along with contiguous parts of Nalgonda,” she contented.

YS Sharmila also ruled out early elections to the Telangana Assembly, as she claimed KCR was not ready to take on the anti-incumbency and also for the much-needed stature as a chief minister to travel across the country.

She further lashed out at Congress’s Revanth Reddy and BJP’s Bandi Sanjay for their inefficiency in exposing KCR and his corruption.
