Telangana govt even today hesitates to celebrate Hyderabad Liberation Day: Amit Shah

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah hoisted a 103 ft high national flag and inaugurated the ‘Gorata Shaheed Smarak’ and memorial of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Gorata ground in Bidar district on Sunday.

On the inaugural of the memorial Shah attacked the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana stating that the Telangana government even today hesitates to celebrate Hyderabad Liberation Day.

“In this Gorata village, hundreds of people were killed by the army of a cruel Nizam for hoisting just a 2.5-ft tall Tricolour. Today, I proudly say that on the same land, we have hoisted a 103-ft tall Tricolour that can’t be hidden from anyone,” stated Shah.

“On the same land, a memorial of those immortal martyrs has been erected. This 20-ft tall statue of Sardar Patel is a symbol of the significant role played by our first Home Minister in ousting the Nizam from Hyderabad. That is why this area, this Bidar could become a part of India,” he added, stating that the BJP will celebrate Hyderabad Liberation Day in a grand manner.

Telangana is due for elections at the end of this year.

Later, in an apparent move to woo the two dominant communities, Lingayatas and Vokkaligas, in the poll-bound Karnataka, where elections are due by May, the BJP leader will unveil the statues of 12th-century social reformer Basaveshwara and the founder of Bengaluru city ‘Nadaprabhu’ Kempegowda on the ‘Vidhana Soudha’ premises.

  • Step up efforts to win all Assembly seats in Chhindwara: Shah tells BJP workers

Step up efforts to win all Assembly seats in Chhindwara: Shah tells BJP workers

    [ad_1]

Bhopal: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday appealed BJP workers to step up their efforts and ensure that the party would win all seven Assembly seats of Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district in the upcoming elections.

Addressing a public gathering in Chhindwara, Shah said that in 2019, BJP had lost Chhindwara Lok Sabha seat from narrow margin, “thus the party workers need to step up their efforts and ensure that the party would win the seat in 2024 general elections and all seven seats in upcoming Assembly elections”.

Chhindwara is considered as the bastion of Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Kamal Nath.

Shah urged the people to vote “overwhelmingly” for the BJP in the Assembly polls to be held later this year.

Meanwhile, hitting at Nath, the Union Home Minister said the former did nothing for the people of the state when he was Chief Minister between December 2018 and March 2020. “Previous Congress governments did not care for the tribals, the poor and those from the Backward Classes. Only the BJP can provide security, prosperity and ensure welfare of the poor. Prime Minister Narendra Modi cares for the respect of tribals, whom the Congress has neglected for years.”

He reminded that it was the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi “who decided to make a tribal woman – Droupadi Murmu – the President of India”. He also reiterated that the Narendra Modi-led BJP government has announced nationwide celebration of legendary tribal leader Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary on November 15 as ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan levelled several allegations on Kamal Nath, such as “stopping” various public-centric schemes during his 15 months government in the state.

Chouhan said the BJP government sent a lot of money for development of Chhindwara, but Kamal Nath was taking credit out of it.

“Since the day Congress leaders came to know that Amit Shah is coming to Chhindwara, all their leaders went on panic mode. Kamal Nath has started making big announcements to counter BJP’s promises. But, let me tell you all that Chhindwara will no more remain Kamal Nath’s bastion now. BJP will win all seven Assembly seats and Lok Sabha election this time. We have taken a pledge for it,” Chouhan added.

Kamal Nath was first elected to the Lok Sabha from Chhindwara in 1980 and repeated the feat several times, with his only loss coming in a bypoll in 1997. Even when the BJP won 28 out of 29 Lok Sabha seats in 2019, his son Nakul Nath won the election from the seat. The Congress has won all assembly seats in the district in 2018 polls.

  • Most of the narcotic drugs are shipped in Pakistan, says Home Minister Amit Shah

Most of the narcotic drugs are shipped in Pakistan, says Home Minister Amit Shah

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Friday security in the ocean needs to be strengthened as most of the narcotic drugs are shipped in Pakistan and go via Iran to Sri Lanka and Africa.

He stressed that drug control was not just the Centre’s fight but of the states, societies and citizens.

“At least 60-70 per cent of drug smuggling happens through the sea route,” he said addressing the regional conference on ‘Drug Trafficking and National Security’ for southern states and Union Territories.

“We need to have a top-to-bottom and bottom-to-top approach sparing none who are involved in drug trafficking.”
He highlighted the need to investigate the chain of networks down below when a big fry was caught.

“When we catch a big fry, we need to investigate the entire chain of networks down below. When we catch a drug addict, we need to investigate those who supplied them”, he said.

“If drug addiction is not controlled, it will become an incurable ulcer in the body”.

“We have set a goal of a drug-free India. We have the target of (becoming) a developed nation by 2047 and a five trillion (USD) economy in 2025. Drug-free society is the foundation to achieve these goals. All the governments should join hands. We have to make the eradication of drug menace a people’s fight,” Shah said.

Shah urged all the government departments such as revenue, social welfare, education and culture should join hands with the health department in the drive against drugs. Drug detection, network destruction, culprit detention and addict rehabilitation are the four pillars of the fight against narcotics.

“I am sorry to say that the detention of culprits is taken very lightly. We are not being stern against them. We should not take drug cases in isolation. We have to deal with it sensitively. You have to fight collectively through detection of drugs, destruction of networks, detention of culprits and rehabilitation of those addicted.”

According to Shah, there are strong provisions in the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act, which are not being implemented effectively.

“Please review it and find out how many properties of drug dealers have been confiscated, and how many of them have been jailed using these laws,” he suggested.

He reminded the officers that the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has adopted a zero tolerance policy against drugs to make India drug-free country.

He further said that under the platinum jubilee of the Indian independence, it was decided that during the 75-day campaign starting from June 1, 2022, 75,000 kg of narcotics will be destroyed.

A total of 5,94,620 kg of narcotics worth Rs 8,409 crore has been destroyed so far, over achieving the target manifold, Shah said.

The Union Minister noted that his ministry has adopted a three-pronged approach to crackdown on narcotics, which includes strengthening institutional structures, empowerment of all agencies related to control of narcotics and launching an awareness campaign.

Shah told the gathering that a total of 1,257 cases were registered between 2006 and 2013, which increased by 152 percent to 3,172 between 2014 and 2022, while, the total number of arrests during the same period increased by 260 percent to 4,888 from 1,362.

Similarly, during 2006-2013, 1.52 lakh kg of drugs were seized, which doubled to 3.30 lakh kg during 2014-22. Drugs valued at Rs 768 crore were seized during 2006-2013, which rose by 25 times to Rs 20,000 crore during 2014-2022.

During the event, 9,298 kg of seized narcotics worth Rs 1,235 crore were destroyed.

Apart from this, a Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between the Rashtriya Raksha University and the Government of Karnataka to open a new campus of the University at Shivamogga.

  • New National Education Policy accepted by all, whole country working to implement it: Amit Shah

New National Education Policy accepted by all, whole country working to implement it: Amit Shah

    [ad_1]

Gandhinagar: The new National Education Policy (NEP) has been accepted by all and the whole country is working to implement it, unlike the NEPs in the past which created controversies owing to ideological links, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said. Addressing graduating students at the 4th convocation of the Central University of Gujarat on Sunday, Shah said the NEP 2020 will work to bring education out of the scope of narrow thinking, and teachers must read it “between the lines” to understand its implications.

“Normally, education policies have a history of being mired in controversies. There were two NEPs in the past and were always surrounded by controversies. Many commissions were also formed in between for the implementation of educational reforms, but they were always surrounded by controversies,” Shah said.

Referring to controversies, he said, unfortunately, we had a tradition of linking education policy with ideology and turning it into the mould of that ideology.

“But nobody could protest or make allegations against the education policy bought by Narendra Modiji in 2022. In a way, the entire society has accepted it and the whole country is moving forward to implement it,” he said.

Shah appealed to teachers to especially study the New Education Policy, because only when they read it “between the lines”, could they understand its implications.

He said the education policy is going to bring Indian education out of the scope of narrow thinking and offer a platform to the students right from their childhood till the end of their education.

“The aim of education is to (make a student) a complete human, and this NEP gives you a choice to become so. The task of the new education policy is to create such a citizen who is imbued with the feelings of national pride as well as the world welfare,” he said.

Shah also asked graduating students to take at least one pledge regarding their contribution to the country when it celebrates its centenary 25 years later.

“If 130 crore people take a pledge each, then it will be enough to make the country great. If each of 130 crore people walks one step, the country will walk 130 crore steps,” the home minister said.

He said the Modi government has also worked towards job creation, and its start-up policy has seen their number jump from 724 in 2016-17 to more than 70,000 in 2022.

As many as 107 Indian start-ups have become unicorns, he said, adding the number of patent applications also rose from 3,000 in 2014 to 1.5 lakh in 2021-22.

“Of the 24,000 patents granted, 23,000 are individual patents,” Shah added.

  • Union minister Amit Shah urges youth not to abandon mother tongue

Union minister Amit Shah urges youth not to abandon mother tongue

    [ad_1]

Vadodara: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday asked the youth never to abandon their mother tongue.

Addressing the graduating students of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda here at its 71st convocation, he also asked them to study the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020.

“I would like to tell all degree-holders that do whatever in your life, but never abandon your mother tongue. Come out of this inferiority complex that (mastering a particular) language will give you acceptance,” he said, speaking in Hindi.

“Language is an expression and not a substance. There can be any language for expression. When a person thinks and conducts research and analysis in his mother language, the capacity for the same increases many times. Along with analysis, it increases his capacity for logic and decision- making,” he said.

One’s mother tongue is the best medium for personality development, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said.

“The languages of our country have the best grammar, literature, poetry and history, and unless we enrich them, we cannot improve the future of our country,” Shah added.

For this reason, Prime Minister Narendra Modi thought of “making mother tongue compulsory in primary education” under the NEP, he said.

He also urged the graduating students to study the NEP, which he said will clear their concepts about the use of education.

The NEP includes “Maharaja Sayajirao’s idea of accessible education, Sardar Patel’s idea of empowerment, Ambedkar’s idea of knowledge, Aurobindo’s idea of cultural and nationalistic education and Gandhi’s emphasis on mother tongue,” Shah said.

Sayajirao Gaekwad III, the erstwhile ruler of the Baroda state, tried to establish an exemplary governance system, he said.

Dr B R Ambedkar framed our Constitution which is “among the best” in the world, Shah said, adding that he could accomplish this because (early in his life) Maharaja Gaekwad had given him a scholarship.

Gaekwad worked to spread education, establish justice, uplift the deprived sections, provide irrigation for farmers and carry out social reforms. He worked to provide compulsory and free education, and laid the foundation for the Faculty of Fine Arts, Shah said.

The NEP has tried to make education “stream-less and classless,” he said.

“When it becomes so, you can think freely. The aim of education is not to gain a degree, good job, to get comforts in personal life. Its aim can be to become a complete human, and it is possible only when education is streamless and classless, and which is why (PM) Modi-ji has tried to make it so,” he said.

The NEP was the first education policy in the country that did not face opposition from (the proponents of) any ideology or political party, the Union minister claimed.

Earlier in the day, Shah inaugurated a redeveloped lake at Nardipura and laid foundation stones for various developmental projects at Kalol in his Lok Sabha constituency of Gandhinagar.

He also chaired a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committees (DISHA) in Gandhinagar.
