Gubbi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday held a massive roadshow here, waving at a large enthusiastic crowd along the route, as he sought people’s support, ahead of the May 10 Assembly polls in Karnataka.

Shah, standing on a specially designed vehicle accompanied by Tumakur Member of Parliament G S Basavaraj and other leaders, was greeted by people gathered on the sides of the roads and on nearby buildings.

A large number of party workers walked along with Shah’s vehicle holding BJP flags and shouting slogans praising BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, amid drum sounds.

At the end of the road shadow here in Tumakuru district, the Home Minister urged people to vote for the BJP candidate, and to ensure that a “double engine government” under the leadership of Modi comes to power.

Former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai have done a lot of work for Karnataka, he said, adding that the BJP government has ended four per cent Muslim reservation and has increased the quota of Vokkaligas, Lingayats, and SC/STs.

“If Congress comes to power, they will take back all these reservations (hiked) and once again bring in Muslim reservations. Do you want four per cent Muslim reservation? (to come back)”, he asked.

Highlighting measures taken by the BJP government for the benefit of Areca nut farmers, Shah said: “If you ensure a double engine government comes to power in Karnataka, Modi ji will once again become Prime Minister in 2024”.

  • CPI (M) MP John Brittas summoned by Vice prez over ‘anti-Amit Shah’ article

CPI (M) MP John Brittas summoned by Vice prez over ‘anti-Amit Shah’ article

    [ad_1]

A show-cause notice has been served to Communist Party of India (Marxist) MP John Brittas by the Vice President of India and Rajya Sabha chairperson Jagdeep Dhankar on Sunday over an article criticizing Union Home Minister Amit Shah for outbursts against Kerala.

Brittas’s critical article – Perils of Propaganda – on Shah was published by The Indian Express on February 20.

The summon was made based on a complaint by the general secretary of Kerala’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) P Sudheer.

    MS Education Academy

Confirming the news, Brittas said it was the Centre’s tactics to silence dissent.

“Yes, I was called for a meeting over an article I wrote and I explained sufficiently my position on the issue. I told the Rajya Sabha chairman that writing the article was my fundamental right and part of my freedom of expression. If a cryptic remark can be made on Kerala, I am fully free to respond,” Brittas said.

Brittas had written over a remark by Shah while touring Karnataka in February that the saffron party is the only hope to keep the country safe. “There is Kerala near you. I don’t want to say much,” Shah had remarked.

“Shah’s periodic outbursts targeting Kerala are proof of his desperation as well as his attempt to turn India into a Hindu Rashtra and rewind this country to a past with the Manu Smriti replacing the Constitution. Kerala has tirelessly resisted his party’s designs,” Brittas mentioned in his article.

  • BJP corrects Congress’ mistake by scrapping Muslim quota in Karnataka: Amit Shah

BJP corrects Congress’ mistake by scrapping Muslim quota in Karnataka: Amit Shah

    [ad_1]

Udupi: Lashing out at the Congress in poll-bound Karnataka on Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rectified wrong done by Congress by doing away with Muslim reservation quota in Karnataka.

The Home Minister made the remarks while addressing a gathering in Byndoor.

Amit Shah said, “BJP has rectified the wrong done by Congress by doing away with the Muslim reservation quota in Karnataka. Congress wants to restore it. Ensure that it is not given this chance; it is unconstitutional as well as compromises the rights of Vokkaligas, Lingayats, SCs, STs and Dalits in the State.”

    MS Education Academy

“BJP scrapped the 4 per cent Muslim reservation. That reservation was not as per Constitution. Our Constitution does not permit reservation on the basis of religion. Congress says that once their reverse gear government comes, they will bring back the Muslim reservation once again. Do you want that?” questioned Shah.

Alleging that Congress was incapable of the protection of coastal Karnataka, Amit Shah said, “Only BJP can do the job of securing Coastal Karnataka. Greed for a vote bank, Congress can never ensure the security of Coastal Karnataka. We worked to provide security to fishermen by building a new port in Udupi.”

“BJP banned the PFI and ensured peace, safety and security for Karnataka,” the Home Minister added.

Earlier, Amit Shah said that Congress would put the state into “reverse gear”, depriving it of the benefits of “double-engine sarkar”.

Addressing a rally at the Navalgund Assembly constituency, Shah said, “One hand, there is the Congress under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and on the other, is the BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. This (Karnataka Assembly) election is an opportunity for you to decide if you want a double engine sarkar led by PM Modi, which will take Karnataka forward, or the Congress’s reverse gear sarkar, which will take Karnataka backwards.”

The polls for the 224-seat assembly will take place on May 10 and the counting of votes will be held on May 13.

As part of his two-day visit to the state, Modi will first tour Humnabad of Bidar district, and then head to Vijayapur after which he will reach Belagavi later in the afternoon.

He will reach Bengaluru by the evening and take part in the mega roadshow from NICE Road to Sumanahalli Junction.

    MS Education Academy

The Prime Minister will spend the night at the Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru.

On Sunday, he is slated to address a huge public rally in Kolar and also visit Channapatna, where former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy is contesting from and holding a mega public meeting.

Modi will later reach the historical Beluru town in Hassan district, the stronghold of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda’s family.

In the evening, he will be in Mysuru and hold a mega road show from Vidyapeetha circle to Bannimantap.

The state’s ruling BJP government is relying heavily on Modi’s visit and is planning to rope in some 2 lakh people for each public rally. In the north, his visit is expected to counter rebellion and keep the Lingayat vote bank intact for the party.

In the south, the BJP wants to consolidate its position and break the stronghold of the JD (S) and Congress in the districts of Kolar, Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapur.

Also on Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also take up high-voltage campaigning in Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

Amit Shah says Congress will take Karnataka into ‘reverse gear’

    [ad_1]

Dharwad: Lashing out at the Congress in poll-bound Karnataka on Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said the former would put the state into “reverse gear”, depriving it of the benefits of “double-engine sarkar”.

Addressing a rally at the Navalgund Assembly constituency on Friday, Shah said, “One hand, there is the Congress under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and on the other, is the BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. This (Karnataka Assembly) election is an opportunity for you to decide if you want a double engine sarkar led by PM Modi, which will take Karnataka forward, or the Congress’s reverse gear sarkar, which will take Karnataka backwards.”/

Earlier, on Friday, the BJP’s star campaigner addressed a gathering at Shirahatti where he said each vote to the BJP will go to protecting the state from the banned outfit Popular Front of India (PFI).

    MS Education Academy

“Each vote counts. So ensure that it goes to the right leadership. When you cast a vote in favour of lotus (the BJP’s symbol), you will not vote to elect an MLA or a minister or Chief Minister. Your vote will further strengthen PM Modi’s hands in creating a ‘Mahan Karnataka’. Your vote will protect Karnataka from the PFI.”

Further hitting out at the Congress over its national president Mallikarjun Kharge’s “poisonous snake” barb at PM Modi, the Union Home Minister said, “The whole world admires Modi-ji. But see the level that the Congress and its leadership has stooped to.

The remarks made by their leaders about Modi-ji are utterly shameful. Kharge-ji called Modi-ji a ‘venomous snake’. Can you vote for such a party?” he said.

The polls for the 224-seat assembly will take place on May 10 and the counting of votes will be held on May 13

  • Shah Rukh Khan, Byju’s staffer ordered to pay compensation, return fees

Shah Rukh Khan, Byju’s staffer ordered to pay compensation, return fees

    [ad_1]

Indore: The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Indore in Madhya Pradesh has issued an order against a staffer of ed-tech firm Byju’s and film superstar Shah Rukh Khan for alleged “fraudulent behaviour” and “unfair trade practice” on the complaint of a woman who enrolled for coaching to become an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer.

In its order passed on Wednesday, the commission said Rs 1.08 lakh in fees deposited by complainant Priyanka Dixit at the time of admission in 2021 must be returned along with 12 per cent annual interest, while Rs 5,000 must be given to her as litigation cost and Rs 50,000 as compensation for financial and mental agony.

The commission said the local manager of Byju’s and actor Khan must pay the amount “jointly or severally” to Dixit. The term ‘jointly and severally’ refers to a partnership in which each party involved is equally liable with respect to liability.

    MS Education Academy

“Since the respondents (Byju’s manager and actor Shah Rukh Khan) remained absent even after notices were served in the case and no reply was submitted on their behalf, unilateral action was taken against them,” the commission said in the order.

“The woman complainant was encouraged to take admission in Byju’s coaching (course) by placing false and misleading online advertisements on behalf of the opposition parties. No coaching facility was provided after receiving the fee and despite assurance of refund of the amount, the fee was not refunded, which in itself is fraudulent behaviour and shows unfair trade practice,” the commission’s order said.

Dixit had named Shah Rukh Khan as one of the respondents after claiming she had enrolled for the firm’s coaching course in order to prepare for the Union Public Service Commission’s civic exams after being influenced by its advertisement issued on January 13, 2021.

In her complaint, Dixit alleged the firm had assured her of coaching by good teachers and that her classes would start from January 14, 2021, which did not happen.

She said in her complaint she had asked the firm to refund her fees and cancel her admission on January 27, 2021.

Despite repeated requests, the firm did not refund her fees, Dixit’s complaint alleged.

As per provisions of the Consumer Protection Act, a person can file a complaint against a company for errors in services as well as against those advertising it, Dixit’s lawyer Suresh Kanga told PTI.

“We filed a complaint against Byju’s and Khan under these provisions as Khan featured in the advertisement of the company, which prompted my client to take admission in the said coach course,” Kanga said.
