Kangana turns film trade analyst! Dubs Akshay, Emraan-starrer ‘Selfiee’ a ‘flop’

Mumbai: Kangana Ranaut has once again targeted filmmaker Karan Johar but this time it’s a film he has backed with his Dharma Productions – ‘Selfiee’. The Bollywood actress called the movie a “flop” and even compared the first day collections to her film ‘Dhaakad’.
Kangana slammed filmmaker Karan’s co-produced film ‘Selfiee’ starring Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi on the day it hit screens.
Kangana wrote on her story: “Karan Johar movie Selfie has hardly made 10 lakhs on the first day I don’t see even one trade or media person talk about it forget mocking or bullying him the way they harass me.”
In her next post, Kangana re-shared an article, the headline of which read: “‘Male version of Kangana Ranaut!,’ Netizens react as Akshay’s ‘Selfiee’ fails to impress viewers, may be his 6th flop film in a row.”
She captioned it: “I was looking for news about selfie flop I found all the news is about me. Yeh bhi meri hi galti hai (This is also my fault). Wah bhai Karan Johar wah.”
‘Selfiee’ is the official Hindi remake of the Malayalam film ‘Driving License’. It’s backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Production along with Magic Frames, Prithviraj Productions, Cape of Good Films and Star Studios.

Akshay Kumar’s Selfiee leaked in HD format online

Mumbai: Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi-starrer Selfiee’s song ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’ managed to impress audiences as it was trending on Instagram. More than one million reels have been made on the remake song of Akshay’s film but it seems that the film may not attract audiences in large numbers because it has been leaked online. Selfiee got released in theatres today, February 24.
According to various reports, Raj Mehta’s directorial has leaked online on various torrent sites like Filmyzilla, Tamilrockers, Movierulz, Telegram etc. The film got leaked in HD form online and fans are getting a chance to watch the movie either free or very cheaply that too in their mobile phones or laptops.
Selfiee is the latest film to fall prey to piracy and it seems makers might have set their minds to face the loss. Despite various attempts and requests, most films in India get leaked either on the day of release or before the release date.
Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi left no stone unturned to promote the film and they are expecting that the film might attract the audience in larger numbers. The duo worked together for the first time and makers might be expecting something big at the box office.
According to the Copyright Act of 1957, piracy is a criminal offence and violators of the law get punished but we have observed in the past too that various makers lost money because of piracy.
A day before its release, Akshay Kumar urged his fans to watch Selfiee in the theatres through a tweet. He wrote, “Iss #Selfiee ka asli maza phone pe nahi, bade parde pe aayega! Don’t miss out – book your tickets today!” Let’s see how Akshay’s tweet can help him in dragging the audiences towards theatres.
According to reports, Selfiee will be released on OTT platform Aha on 14 of April, 2023.
On the professional front, Akshay Kumar will be seen in OMG: Oh My God 2, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, official Hindi remake of Tamil film Soorarai Pottru and Hera Pheri 3 next while Emraan Hashmi will be seen in Salman Khan‘s Tiger 3 next.

‘Selfiee’ second trailer is out, teaser mentions boycott bollywood

Mumbai: Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi are raising the temperature high as their upcoming film ‘Selfiee’ is about to hit the theatres. Amid promotions all over the country, the makers of ‘Selfiee’ unveiled the second trailer of the film on Wednesday.
Fans already know that the film is a tussle between a superstar and a super fan. In the second trailer, the situation gets grimmer and the fight between Inspector Om Prakash (played by Emraan) and superstar Vijay (played by Akshay) takes an ugly turn involving their families.
Taking to Instagram Akshay posted the trailer with a caption, “Aam aadmi ki kahaani toh bahot sun li, ab Vijay Kumar ki bhi sun lo.. Dekhiye #SelfieeTrailer2. And watch #Selfiee in cinemas on 24th Feb.”
Sharing the same trailer Emraan wrote, “Superstar ke saath #Selfiee nahi, panga le liya.
Watch #SelfieeTrailer2 Now. Aage ki story – only in cinemas, Feb 24.”
There’s another treat for the fans. In a new teaser of the movie, ‘Boycott Bollywood gets featured. ‘Boycott Bollywood’ is trending for quite some time on social media, as Bollywood is repeatedly attacked for diverse reasons.
Taking a hilarious stand on the burning subject, the teaser shows, when ‘Boycott Bollywood’ is mentioned by a producer, Akshay points fingers at himself suggesting if he were the reason or not. The producer in the teaser promptly replies to Akshay’s gesture, ‘No, Sir.’
‘Selfiee’ is the official Hindi remake of the Malayalam film ‘Driving License’, which starred Prithviraj and Suraj Venjaramoodu in lead roles. Akshay and Emraan will reprise their roles in the remake.

The film will also showcase the recreated version of the 90s hit song ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’, sung by Udit Narayan, and Abhijeet Bhattacharya and recreated by Tanishk Bagchi.
Helmed by Raj Mehta, Akshay and Emraan have collaborated for the first time in ‘Selfiee’.
