    Hyderabad: In one of the biggest catches in recent times, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials on Monday caught a woman who was in possession of 5.90 kilograms of heroin valued at Rs. 41.3 crore at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA).

    According to DRI officials, the female passenger, an Indian national, arrived from Malawi to Hyderabad via Doha on Sunday.

    “On examination of the checked-in baggage of the passenger resulted in recovery of 5.90 kg of creamy white powder granules in transparent packets, concealed within false cavities of the suitcase. On testing with the narcotics field-testing kits, the substance tested positive for “Heroin”, a narcotic drug covered under the NDPS Act, 1985,” said the DRI said.

    The contraband has been seized and the passenger has been arrested, after which she was remanded to judicial custody under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985. Further investigation is underway.

    SRINAGAR: Arms and ammunition believed to have been dropped by Pakistan and picked up by overground workers (OGWs) have been recovered in the Mendhar sub-division of Poonch district, The Tribune reported.

    This comes after the arrest of six OGWs who were assisting the militants behind the ambush on an army truck in Bhata Dhurian area of Mendhar on April 20.

    Two of the arrested OGWs, Nisar Ahmed and Mushtaq Ahmed, shared details about the hidden arms and ammunition. They disclosed that the arms were hidden in a forest and at a home. Acting on the information, a joint team of the Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K police, CRPF, and Army conducted a raid near the house of Mushtaq Ahmed in Gursai police station’s jurisdiction. The team seized one AK-47 magazine, 15 rounds of AK-47, and a body cover of an assault rifle.

    Another OGW, Nisar Ahmed, was found to be in possession of two hand grenades, two AK-47 magazines, and Rs 19,000 in cash when his house was searched.

    Director General of Police Dilbag Singh while speaking to The Tribune confirmed that the arrest of the six OGWs, adding that they provided logistical support to the terrorists who carried out the ambush. The OGWs assisted the ultras by picking up the weaponry sent by Pakistan through drones near the LoC. The arms used in the ambush included steel bullets that penetrated the army truck.

    Hyderabad: Custom officials at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Thursday caught a passenger who was smuggling gold and seized 679 grams of gold from him.

    The passenger who arrived by flight from Riyadh in the afternoon had concealed the gold in the form of four capsules and concealed it in his rectum. On suspicion, the customs officials checked him and recovered the gold.

    The gold seized is valued at Rs 42,26,775. The alleged smuggled gold was seized and further investigation is in progress.

    Srinagar, May 5: Security forces have arrested a person after seizing arms and ammunition from his house during a search operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said on Friday.

    A search operation was carried out in the Lurgam area of Tral on Thursday, they said.

    During the searches, a Kalashnikov rifle, two magazines, and 56 bullets were seized from the house of Bashir Ahmad. He has been arrested, officials said, adding a case has been registered and investigations were underway.–(PTI)

    Hyderabad: Foiling a smuggling bid, Hyderabad Customs seized gold worth Rs 16.5 lakh from two passengers at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport who were coming from Dubai on Tuesday.

    Based on passenger profiling, the Customs Air Intelligence team of Hyderabad Customs intercepted two passengers who arrived from Dubai by flight no EK-526 which landed at 8 am on Tuesday.

    On searching the bags of the passengers, it was found that gold was concealed inside chocolates which were wrapped inside chocolate covers. A total of 13 small cut pieces of gold were found inside the chocolates carried in the carton box. The gold seized weighed around 269 gm having a value worth Rs 16.5 lakh.

    Hyderabad: The Central Industrial Security Force personnel at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Hyderabad caught a passenger who was smuggling gold on Thursday. The officials seized 400 grams of gold worth Rs 25 lakh from them.

    Acting on a tipoff, the officials caught the passenger who had concealed the gold strips in cutting pliers and smuggled them out of the RGI Airport. The man was handed over to customs officials for further action.

    Mumbai: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) busted a gold smuggling racket and arrested 18 Sudanese women as well as an Indian woman with 16.36 kg of the yellow metal in paste form valued at Rs 10.16 crore at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport here, an official said on Tuesday.

    In a follow up search at related premises 1.42 kg of gold valued approximately at Rs 85 lakh along with foreign currency worth Rs 16 lakh and Indian notes of Rs 88 lakh were also recovered, he said.

    Based on specific intelligence that gold in paste form is going to be smuggled into India by a syndicate of passengers travelling from the UAE to Mumbai on Monday, DRI officials mounted a surveillance at the city airport, the official said.

    Passengers suspected to be part of the syndicate travelling in three flights were identified and intercepted by a team of the DRI at the airport, he said.

    During their search, the DRI recovered 16.36 kg of gold in paste form, gold cut pieces and jewellery, collectively valued at Rs 10.16 crore, said the official.

    Eighteen women from Sudan carrying the smuggled gold and an Indian woman who was coordinating the movement of the passengers were arrested, he said.

    Most of the recovered gold was found concealed on the body of the suspect passengers, making it extremely difficult to detect the precious metal, said the official, adding further probe was underway.

    Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police on Wednesday busted massive cricket betting networks, arrested twelve persons in two separate cases and seized property worth more than Rs 1.41 crore.

    According to the police, the accused were cricket bookies of organized online cricket betting rackets for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 matches.

    Rs 50 lakh in cash, 5 betting boards, 8 laptops, 62 mobile phones, 20 smartphones, 1 Tablet, 4 televisions, 1 Router and 4 four-wheelers were seized from their possession.

    In the first case, the police arrested Muthina Vasanth Kumar, Kalidindi Venkata Ramaraju, Ponduri Venkat Sai and Kruthiventi Ramesh. Ayyappa alias Manikanta, the main bookie of Vasanth Kumar is absconding.

    In the second case, the police arrested Chittibomma Karthik, Badam Veeresh, Bandari Shiva Kumar, Middela Manoj Kumar, Chintala Venkata Padma Chandra Mohan Rao, Chandrapati Satish Kumar, Manne Sathyanarayana alias Satish and Patapati Ravi Varma. Kumar, Pandu, Sk Jilani, and Prabhakar, the main bookies, in this case, are absconding.

    Nine of the accused persons in the case are residents of Andhra Pradesh.

    The city police advised the public to be wary of the following Apps: Bet 365, MPL, Betway, Dream Guru, My 11 Circle, Bet 365, Coral, Bwin, 777 Bet, Dafabet, Winner, Cricket Betting 2020, Just Bet, Betfred, and Lotus Cricket Line.
