Uddhav criticism in Pawar’s book: Wrong information, says Sanjay Raut

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Thursday termed the criticism of Uddhav Thackeray in Nationalist Congress Party supremo Sharad Pawar’s autobiography as “wrong information” and downplayed the issue by claiming books are read for two days and then put into libraries.

He also said Thackeray would soon respond to what has been written about him in the book.

In his revised autobiography Lok Majhe Sangati’, which focuses on events post-2015 and was released on Tuesday, Pawar wrote it was difficult to fathom why Thackeray as chief minister chose to visit Mantralaya, the state secretariat in south Mumbai, only twice during the coronavirus pandemic.

    MS Education Academy

“This is wrong information. He (Thackeray) was regularly going to office. His visits (to Mantralaya) reduced during coronavirus pandemic because there was a central government directive to work from home,” Raut said, adding that the prime minister, Union ministers and other chief ministers too were not going to office during the pandemic.

In his book, Pawar also blamed Thackeray for failing to to quell the discontent within his own party and for resigning as Maharashtra chief minister without putting up a fight.

A rebellion by Eknath Shinde in June last year brought down the Maha Vikas Aghadi government under Thackeray. Shinde went on to become CM with the support of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Pawar wrote that a CM needs “political acumen” and must remain well-informed about political goings-on, and “we all felt that these things were lacking”.

Speaking on the issue, Raut said, “I have not read the book. I will read it. People read a book for two days and then it goes into the library. Let it go. Shiv Sena (UBT) chief (Uddhav Thackeray) is giving an interview on this very soon. He will respond to the what is written about him.”

  • BJP does not enjoy public support, it wins elections by rigging EVMs: Sanjay Raut

BJP does not enjoy public support, it wins elections by rigging EVMs: Sanjay Raut

    [ad_1]

Belagavi: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Wednesday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) does not enjoy the support of people and it wins elections by rigging the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

Addressing a poll rally here to campaign for Murlidhar Patil, a Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) candidate from Khanapur, Raut also accused the BJP of being a “Maharashtra hater” and said whenever the Marathi manoos gets stronger, it hatches a conspiracy – be it against Maharashtra or Marathi-speaking border areas of Karnataka.

He also asked people not to entertain the BJP, the Congress and the Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde when the leaders from these parties from Maharashtra come for campaigning.

    MS Education Academy

While the Congress is the principal opposition party seeking to dislodge the BJP government in Karnataka, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has fielded candidates for the Assembly polls in the state.

“Guard the EVMs. BJP wins with the help of EVMs. You vote for the stool (MES candidate’s symbol) in the morning and in the evening it gets changed to something else. This has to be taken care of. They (the BJP) don’t have people’s support and win by indulging in scams. This is the picture everywhere in the country,” he said.

He said be it Uddhav Thackeray or NCP president Sharad Pawar, they always had affection towards the Ekikaran Samiti and the Marathi manoos in Marathi-speaking areas of Karnataka.

The MES is a body fighting for the rights of the Marathi-speaking areas in Belagavi-Karwar areas of Karnataka, where Assembly elections will be held on May 10.

Maha BJP blows off Sanjay Raut’s ‘pipe-dreams’ of change of CM

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday sniggered at Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut’s claims that a change of Chief Minister in Maharashtra was allegedly being plotted out in Delhi.

Taking a sharp jibe, BJP spokesperson Ram Kadam said here that Raut is clearly rattled’ and is day-dreaming like ‘mungerilal ke sapne’ with such comments.

“All that’s left for him now is to get a parrot and predict peoples’ fortunes on the roadside,” said Kadam, evoking much mirth in political circles.

    MS Education Academy

Earlier on Monday, Raut contended that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has not lived up to the BJP’s expectations and moves are reportedly underway in Delhi to topple him.

Nationalist Congress Party national spokesperson Clyde Crasto also claimed on Monday that a ‘role-reversal’ was probably in the offing in the state between Shinde and the Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, with ‘hush-hush meetings in Delhi’.

Ahead of the Supreme Court verdict, Maharashtra politics has been agog with rumours of a couple of ‘political earthquakes’ expected in the next fortnight or so with speculation on the fate of Shinde, a change of guard in the state, prominent leaders from the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi switching sides, etc.

However, all top MVA leaders like NCP president Sharad Pawar, state Congress president Nana Patole, Sena (UBT)’s Leader of Opposition Ambadas Danve, Raut and others have dismissed all such reports, asserting that the alliance is intact and strongly united.

Nevertheless, Pawar on Sunday confounded political circles by claiming how he could predict whether the MVA will contest the future elections together or not at this moment.

Ruling ally Shiv Sena spokesperson Deepak Kesarkar slammed Raut for being a ‘fake astrologer’, while Fadnavis said that people now don’t take Raut’s daily morning ‘drug-intoxicated’ ramblings seriously.

  • A vote for BRS is a vote for Congress: Bandi Sanjay

A vote for BRS is a vote for Congress: Bandi Sanjay

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Amid ongoing efforts by Telangana Chief Minister Bandi Sanjay to rally Opposition forces around the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre ahead of next year’s Lok Sabha elections, BJP state president Bandi Sanjay on Sunday said “a vote for the BRS would amount to a vote in Congress’s kitty”.

The firebrand BJP state president made the remark at a press conference in state capital Hyderabad on Sunday.

Earlier on Sunday, Sanjay also lashed out at Asaduddin Owaisi-led All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) for speaking in favour of slain gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed.

    MS Education Academy

The jailed gangster and his brother Ashraf, who were accused in the murder of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Raju Pal, and subsequently, in the killing of a key witness in that case, Umesh Pal, were shot dead in police custody while being brought for a medical in Prayagraj.

The chilling murder in full view of surrounding media crews drew censure from Opposition forces, who voiced concern over the prevailing law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh.

A day after the gangster siblings were sprayed with bullets by three gunmen posing as journalists, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi had said Atiq was the second former MP from the Muslim community to be “murdered with impunity”.

He even compared Atiq’s assailants with Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi.

“People in police custody were killed. Those who killed them are terrorists and are part of a terror module. They might kill more people. Why did they not slam UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act) on the assailants? Who gave automatic weapons to the killers? Who gave firearms worth Rs 8 lakh to them?” Owaisi had said.

“They were radicalised people, following in the footsteps of Godse. They must be stopped or else they will kill more people,” Owaisi had said.

Coming down hard on the AIMIM chief over his remarks, Sanjay said it was shameful that the leader of the minority outfit spoke in favour of the slain gangster and his son Asad, who was killed earlier in an exchange of fire with a team from the UP STF in Jhansi.

Questioning the silence of the BRS and the Congress in the matter, Sanjay said, “Why haven’t the BRS or the Congress not condemned it (Owaisi’s statement)? Was Atiq Ahmed a patriot? He looted the poor and committed atrocities on them.”

He alleged further that Owaisi’s party nurtures “terrorists”.

Sanjay has stepped up his offensive against the ruling BRS government in Telangana since he was picked up past midnight hours from his residence and arrested on April 4 in connection with the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) paper leak case.

He was granted bail by a magistrate’s court in Warangal on April 6. The court allowed bail on the payment of Rs 20,000 as surety.

Sanjay has led to doom of MVA and Shiv Sena (UBT), says Shirsat

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: The Shiv Sena on Wednesday accused Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut of leading the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and the Shiv Sena (UBT) to their doom.

Talking to reporters, Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Shirsat also said that Raut had a war of words with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar, who will not tolerate it.

“Sanjay Raut has led to the doom of the MVA and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena,” Shirsat said.

    MS Education Academy

Ajit Pawar on Tuesday slammed Raut without taking the latter’s name and said spokespersons of other parties were behaving like NCP’s spokespersons.

The NCP leader was apparently upset over Raut’s weekly column ‘Rokhthok’ in his party mouthpiece ‘Saamana’, in which he claimed NCP president Sharad Pawar recently told Uddhav Thackeray that his party would never join hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) even if anyone takes an individual decision to do so.

  • Aaditya, Sanjay Raut oppose defamation plea filed by Maharashtra MP in Delhi HC

Aaditya, Sanjay Raut oppose defamation plea filed by Maharashtra MP in Delhi HC

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leaders Aaditya Thackeray and Sanjay Raut on Monday opposed before the Delhi High Court a defamation plea filed against them by Maharastra MP Rahul Ramesh Shewale for allegedly levelling frivolous corruption charges against him and the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction.

While Raut’s counsel submitted that they have a right to criticise in a democratic space, former Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray said there was nothing slanderous about the political statements made by him.

Pursuant to an earlier high court order, former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, his son Aaditya Thackeray and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut made their appearances in the court through their respective lawyers.

    MS Education Academy

The three defendants filed their replies to the plaintiff’s application seeking an interim relief to remove the alleged defamatory content from social media platforms.

Justice Prateek Jalan listed the suit for the completion of the pleadings before the joint registrar on May 10.

During the hearing, senior advocate Devdutt Kamat, appearing for Raut, said for the first time in the history of common law, a political party is suing for defamation.

He claimed that the plaint was not maintainable and it was an attempt to gag free speech.

“Is it that in a democratic space there can’t be any criticism?” the counsel asked and said there was no question of any interim relief to be given to the plaintiff.

To this, the judge said, “We will see what is the nature of the criticism. We will see what the statements are and surely, I have due regard for freedom of speech.”

The high court issued summonses to Uddhav Thackeray, Aaditya Thackeray and Raut on March 28 and asked them to file their written submissions within 30 days.

It had also asked Google and Twitter to file their written statements within 30 days on the plea.

In his reply to the application for interim relief, Aaditya Thackeray said it is a regular practice for politicians to comment upon each other’s conduct in a political discourse and as a public figure, the plaintiff ought to take the “bouquets as well as brickbats” and that “public figures cannot be allowed to be thin-skinned as it would entirely stifle all criticism of them”.

“The entire suit is nothing but a malicious attempt at clamping down on free political speech, which ought not to be permitted by this court. It is submitted that the allegedly slanderous statements made by defendant no. 3 (Aaditya Thackeray) are nothing but political speech and the same is protected under the right to freedom of speech under the Constitution of India,” the reply filed through advocate Naman Joshi stated.

It said the plaintiff has filed the suit in his personal capacity and not as an office-bearer of either his own political party — Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) — or the Election Commission and has made no whisper as to how he, his party or the EC has been defamed and in whose eyes.

Shewale was represented in the court through senior advocate Rajiv Nayar and lawyer Utsav Trivedi.

In the suit, Shewale has sought a permanent injunction and damages against the defendants on account of alleged false, malicious and unsubstantiated allegations levelled and circulated on social media platforms and other offline and online media.

He has said the allegations are libellous, unfounded and misconceived and tainted with collateral objectives, which were made knowingly and deliberately to harm the dignity of the plaintiff and his political party.

“The present plaint demonstrates that the defendant nos 1 to 3 have conspired with each other and with other unknown individuals or organisations to launch a series of scathing and belligerent attacks against the plaintiff and the political party which the plaintiff belongs to, that is, Shiv Sena, with the oblique motive to malign, defame and injure the plaintiff’s reputation, based on a series of blatant falsehoods and gross misrepresentations,” the plea has said.

The court recorded his statement and fixed April 25 as the next date for hearing, an advocate said.

  • Will file criminal defamation case against ED officials: AAP MP Sanjay Singh

Will file criminal defamation case against ED officials: AAP MP Sanjay Singh

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Thursday said he will file a criminal defamation case against the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials for “falsely” naming him in their excise policy case chargesheet.

Addressing a press conference here, Singh alleged that the ED is “involved in making false cases without any facts or evidence”.

Responding to the Singh’s allegations, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva said it seems that the fear of arrest is haunting the AAP MP with each passing day.

    MS Education Academy

The AAP leader also invited those who have been victimised by the agency to come forward and inform him.

“As the Privileges Committee of Parliament has asked me to expose how the ED is fabricating false cases, I will bring your case and information before the Privileges Committee. It’s time to hold the ED accountable for their abuse of power and false accusations,” he added.

Singh accused ED of targeting him after he raised his voice against the agency’s actions in the Parliament. He said he had given a speech on ED-CBI in the Parliament on December 12 last year, and his name appeared in ED’s chargesheet on January 6 this year.

“I will file a criminal defamation case against ED director S K Mishra, officer Bhanu Priya who signed the chargesheet, and IO Joginder Singh,” he said.

The AAP leader also alleged that he had sought an appointment with ED 11 times to give information on the Adani issue. However, the facts and documents were received by the ED after two months.

Reading out the contents of the chargesheet, Singh said it claimed that on October 1, 2022, Dinesh Arora had told the ED that the transfer of a liquor shop of Amit Arora was done by Manish Sisodia on the direction of Sanjay Singh.

Singh alleged that the “ED created a false chargesheet by creating a fake case, simply because he was speaking out against Modi-Adani corruption”.

Singh presented Arora’s statement, which ED had recorded on October 1, 2022 which mentions that Excise Commissioner Rahul Singh transferred Amit Arora’s shop in a routine manner. There was no mention of Sanjay Singh’s name even remotely in Arora’s statement recorded by the ED, he claimed.

Singh also presented Dinesh Arora’s statement to the court under section 164, which states that when Amit Arora insisted that Dinesh Arora bring up the matter of his shop’s transfer, neither did Dinesh Arora talk to the then Deputy CM nor to Sanjay Singh.

“The ED’s attempt to implicate me in a fabricated case is nothing but a political move to suppress my voice against the Adani row. It is evident that the ED is creating a false case to fulfil its own agenda. I won’t be silenced by their baseless accusations and intimidation tactics,” he said.

Meanwhile, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said it seems that the fear of arrest is haunting MP Sanjay Singh with each passing day as he is realising that summons of ED may strike his door any day now.

Sachdeva claimed that Singh was speaking in favour of liquor baron Dinesh Arora because he knows that Arora’s evidence will not only nail Manish Sisodia but also him (Singh) and sooner or later Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal too.

Bandi Sanjay to kickstart protest march against Telangana govt on “unemployment”

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Days after being released on bail in the alleged “paper leak” case, Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Bandi Sanjay will launch a mega agitation against the “unemployment” in the state.

The launch of the “Nirudyoga March” from Warangal on April 15 can be seen as Sanjay’s strong retaliation against the state government, as this was the same place from where he was arrested recently.

The next leg of his march will be from Mehboobnagar on April 21 followed by Khammam, for which the dates are still being finalised.

    MS Education Academy

“I will be doing 10 rallies across the state and then conclude with a mega rally in Hyderabad,” Bandi Sanjay told ANI.

“There are three demands. IT Minister KT Rama Rao should resign following the paper leak. We demand an inquiry into this by a sitting High Court judge and also compensation of Rs 1 lakh for all the students affected by the leak,” Sanjay further elaborated.

The Telangana BJP chief was arrested by police from his Karimnagar residence late on April 4 in the paper leak case. He was granted bail by a magistrate court on April 6.

The court allowed bail on the condition of Rs 20,000 surety from a magistrate’s court in Warangal.

  • My mobile phone is with CM KCR, claims Bandi Sanjay

My mobile phone is with CM KCR, claims Bandi Sanjay

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: A day after complaining to the police that he lost his mobile, Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Monday alleged that his phone is with Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

He said that CM KCR was shocked to look at his phone call list as several MLAs of ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) were in touch with him.

Sanjay, who is also Member of Parliament, said KCR was worried that if the call list becomes public he may lose ministers and MLAs to BJP and hence he started demanding him to hand over his phone.

    MS Education Academy

The BJP leader was referring to the direction of Warangal Police Commissioner A. V. Ranganath to give his phone to the police for investigations into 10th class exam paper leak case.

Sanjay was arrested by the police from a relative’s house in Karimnagar on the intervening night of April 4 and 5. He was produced by a magistrate at Hanamkonda on April 5 and was remanded to judicial custody.

However, he was released on bail the next day. Sanjay was named accused number one in the case, in which nine others including a minor were included.

While addressing a press conference on April 5, the Warangal Police Commissioner had said that Bandi Sanjay was refusing to give his mobile phone to police for investigations.

Ranganath said that if Sanjay’s call and chat data are analysed, this will provide evidence that he was in regular touch with one Prashanth, who got the Hindi question paper leaked from an exam centre in Kamlapur on April 4 when the exam was still on. Prashanth had shared the same with many people including Sanjay.

The BJP leader on Sunday lodged a complaint with Karimnagar II Town Police Station that he lost his mobile phone when was detained by the police. He claimed that he had brought this to the notice of police officials who were travelling with him in a van to Bommala Ramaram Police Station of Rachakonda Police Commissionerate.

Meanwhile, the state government has requested the Telangana High Court to cancel the bail of Bandi Sanjay.

During the hearing of a petition filed by the BJP leader challenging the case registered against him, Advocate General B.S. Prasad brought to the court’s notice that Sanjay is not cooperating in the investigation. The court was told Sanjay has not given his mobile phone to police. AG submitted that if the mobile phone data is analysed, it will reveal many details behind the conspiracy.

The court asked the government to file an affidavit and adjourned the hearing to April 21.

In another related development, BJP MLA Eatala Rajender on Monday appeared before Warangal police in response to the summons for questioning. The former minister told reporters that the police officials analysed his mobile phone and found that he did not receive any call from Prashanth.

Rajender also disputed the police claim that it was a paper leak. Stating that the exam began at 9.30 a.m. and the paper came out after 11 a.m., the MLA said it was not a leak but a case of malpractice. He alleged that Chief Minister KCR was trying to implicate them in a false case.
