Sale Of Jobs Not Allowed In Jk Anymore: LG Sinha On JKSSB Controversy

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: Taking a jibe at the mainstream parties that ruled JK over the past seven decades, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Monday said that those who gave jobs to militants and their family members have no right to talk about “fair recruitment.”

Addressing the function regarding laying of foundation stones of various projects related to Jammu Smart City at Jammu Convention Centre, LG Sinha  said that many people don’t want fair recruitment to take place in the UT.

“Those who gave jobs to militants and their family members are raising fingers at the ongoing recruitment processes. These people have no right to do so,” the LG said, adding that “one lakh backdoor appointments were made by these people have made it difficult the administration.”

The LG said that the SSB recruitment issue was raised and complaints were found true after which the administration handed over the case to the country’s premier investigating agency—CBI.

“CBI is still probing the case and so far many arrests have been made. No matter how influential the people involved in the fake recruitments and irregularities, they won’t be spared at all,” he said.

He said that people should remain assured that strict action will be taken against those who are found in irregularities or any other misconduct in the SSB exams.

“Gone are the days when jobs were sold on roads and shops. Jobs will be given to those who have competence and the process of all recruitments will be fair and transparent,” the LG said.

He said that if anyone feels or sees any sort of misconduct in any exam or recruitment process, the same should be brought to the notice of the administration. “I assure a very strict action will be taken against those found involved,” he said.

He said a series of developmental projects are being taken up in Jammu under the Smart City Project. “The face of Jammu will change and the people of Jammu will feel a great and big change in the days and months ahead. The life of Jammuites will be made safe, secure and hassle free through the huge developmental activities that are under way at present,” he said. (KNO)

  • Assets Of JK Put On Sale: Mehbooba Mufti

Assets Of JK Put On Sale: Mehbooba Mufti

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday slammed the Jammu and Kashmir government’s decision to outsource a golf course located in Srinagar, alleging that the assets of Jammu Kashmir were being put on sale.

Reacting to the latest order on the Srinagar Golf course, Mufti said that the sale of Royal Golf Spring is another example of how the administration is “developing” this region post August 5, 2019, a PDP statement read.

There were speculations that the Jammu Kashmir admin is going to outsource the Royal Springs Golf Course in Srinagar. “Everything has been put on ‘sale’ “; she alleged and said, “This is yet another step to sell our assets to non-local businesses”.

The former Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister said that Kashmir is the oldest golfing destination not just in South Asia but perhaps East of Suez. Gulmarg, Kashmir Golf clubs are the second oldest after Calcutta. Our golf clubs are not merely real estate as the Government of India is treating the state as an essential part of our identity and heritage.

She said, if the present administration finds the maintenance difficult because of its inherent inefficiency and agenda, it should focus on improving the organization running golf courses and hire experts from anywhere.

“Whether in Jammu or Kashmir, selling golf courses is unacceptable, as we’ve witnessed that this outsourcing generally ends up in ownerships and is irreversible”, she added.

Tourism being our key sector, the order says, many properties of JKTDC and the tourism department are being given out. This happens at a time when they are not renewing the leases with the local hoteliers, in Gulmarg, she alleged.

She said this looks like taking every important avenue from our hands. On the one hand, poor people are being hounded out of what has been theirs for generations, and on the other premier assets are up for sale.

“The August 5 decision led to rampant exploitation of land resources, jobs, and rivers in the region, with outsiders being given preference over locals. This has resulted in a rise in unemployment, drug abuse, mafia activities, environmental degradation, and above all dispossession and dis-empowerment of locals”, she added.

  • Sale Of Gold Jewellery Hallmarked Without 6-digit Code To Be Banned After March 31 – Kashmir News

    [ad_1]

NEW DELHI: Sale of gold jewellery and gold artefacts hallmarked without six-digit alphanumeric HUID unique identification number shall not be permitted from April 1, the government on Friday said.

Food and consumer affairs minister Piyush Goyal on Friday chaired a meeting to review the activities of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).

To promote quality culture in micro scale units, it has been decided that the BIS will provide 80 per cent concession on the certification/minimum marking fee across various product certification schemes.

Gold hallmarking is a purity certification of the precious metal. It was voluntary in nature till June 16, 2021.

After that, the government decided to implement mandatory gold hallmarking in a phased manner. In the first phase, it was made mandatory in 256 districts and 32 more districts were added in the second stage, taking the total number to 288 districts. 51 more districts are being added.

“starting from 1st April 2023, the sale of only gold jewellery with HUID shall be permitted,” an official statement said.

Nidhi Khare, additional secretary in the department of consumer affairs, said that “in consumers interest, it has been decided that after March 31st, sale of gold jewellery and gold artefacts hallmarked without HUID will not be permitted.”

At present, she said four digits as well as six-digit HUID are being used currently.

She said the hallmarked gold jwellery items are being sold across the country, even in those districts where it is not mandatory yet because of consumers demand for quality product.

Hallmark Unique Identification (HUID) number is a six-digit alphanumeric code consisting of numbers and letters.

HUID will be given to every piece of jewellery at the time of hallmarking and it is unique for every piece of jewellery.

The jewellery is stamped with the unique number manually at the Assaying & Hallmarking Centre (AHC).

In the meeting, Goyal directed the BIS to augment the testing infrastructure in the country.

The BIS was told to increase the frequency of product testing and market surveillance depending on the criticality of components used for the consumer safety.

BIS should also increase the frequency of lab inspection.

BIS has been directed to enhance market surveillance for different products such as pressure cooker, helmets, and other consumer products to ensure product safety.

BIS has proposed Quality Control Orders (QCO) for 663 products in the coming time.

Currently, there are 462 products covered under QCOs, the statement said.

“In an effort to promote quality culture in micro scale units, BIS is providing an 80 per cent concession on the certification/minimum marking fee across various product certification schemes of BIS,” the statement said.

Additionally, units located in the northeast will continue to receive an extra 10 per cent concession.

“We are committed to ensuring that all products in India meet the highest quality and safety standards,” Goyal said.

These measures shall promote micro scale units, enhance the testing infrastructure, and develop a culture of quality consciousness among citizens, he added. (Agencies)
