Telangana: HC gives go-ahead to RTC employee union elections

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday gave orders to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) management to conduct elections to the employees’ union.
The TSRTC employees on April 10 approached the HC in regards to the union elections that had not been conducted since 2018.
The employees union also demanded a revision of the pay scale of the employees and bring it on par with the salaries of the State government employees.

“After sending numerous letters to the government, labour commission, and RTC management and not receiving any response from them, we had to approach the court in this matter,” stated a press release by the employee union leaders S Babu and K Rajireddy.
“We informed the court that there had been elections to the employees union in RTC since 1977 for every two years. It has been 5 years since the last elections. Even though the Returning Officer had been appointed, not conducting elections for so long is illegal,” it stated.
The employees union demanded that the government and the RTC management conduct the elections following the court orders without any delays.

Telangana: Sajjanar directs RTC officials to prepare for summer

Hyderabad: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) Managing Director, VC Sajjanar directed the officials to ensure that proper facilities are available to passengers for the summer season.
Sajjanar connected online with the RTC officials in Bus Bhavan, Hyderabad to conduct a review meeting and asked the officials to be prepared for the upcoming summer season.
He said that drinking water should be made available at bus stands and facilities such as fans, coolers, benches and so on should be present.
He directed the officials to solve passengers’ issues at the earliest and take proper precautions to ensure that the passengers do not suffer. He said that the main objective of providing better service to people must not be forgotten.
He said that there are many weddings and festivities in the month of March and asked them to have buses available to serve the increase in demand.
He said that the discounts available to the people in advance bookings should be highlighted.
RTC is providing a 10 percent discount on renting buses, 10 percent discount on ticket bookings made 46 to 60 days in advance and 5 percent for ticket bookings made 31 to 45 days in advance.
He urged people to take advantage of the discounts provided and use TSRTC services.

Telangana: RTC bus-auto rickshaw collide in accident, 4 women dead

Hyderabad: Four women died after meeting with a road accident in Dandumalkapuram village of Choutuppal mandal from Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district while several others were severely injured.
The tragic incident took place when a private bus collided with an auto rikshaw carrying the victims.
The persons injured in the accident were rushed to a hospital in Hayathnagar. They have been identified as D. Nagalaxmi (28), Varakantham Anasuya (55), Chiluveru Dhana Laxmi (35), and Devarapally Sirisha (30).
The police said that the victims were working in a company industrial park.
The police said that the condition of another labourer was said to be critical. They also said that a total of 12 labourers were travelling in the auto rikshaw at the time of the accident.
