Airtel Rolls Out 5G Services In Four More Districts Of JK

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: Bharti Airtel, one of the major telecom operators in India, announced the launch of high speed 5G Internet services in four more districts of Jammu & Kashmir UT thereby providing the ultra fast internet service to a total of 13 towns across the union territory.

The four new districts to get 5G services are Katra, Anantnag, Baramulla, and Rajouri.

The 5G services are already live in Jammu, Srinagar, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Akhnoor, Kupwara, Lakhanpur, and Khour.

In a statement, Airtel said the services would be available to customers in a phased manner as the company continues to construct its network and complete the rollout.

Airtel said it will augment its network making its services available across all the cities in due course of time.

“Connectivity to our customers in the Valley is in line with our commitment to bridge the digital divide and connect communities who need it the most,” said Adarsh Verma, COO of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, Bharti Airtel.

“Customers in these thirteen cities can now experience ultrafast network and enjoy speeds upto 20-30 times faster than the current 4G speeds. We are in the process of lighting up all the cities which will allow customers to enjoy superfast access to High-definition video streaming, gaming, multiple chatting, instant uploading of photos and more,” he added.

“Airtel was the first service provider to roll out 5G services in the country in October 2022. Today, Airtel 5G Plus is available across all states in the country,” said the telecom operator, adding that it is well poised to cover every town and key rural areas with 5G services by March 2024.

Telecom service providers in India started providing high-speed 5G services in the country from October 2022 onwards.
The government issued spectrum allocation letters to telecom service providers in August 2022, asking them to prepare for the rollout of 5G services in the country.

Department of Telecom had received total bids worth Rs 1.50 lakh crore from the 5G spectrum auction.

5G is the fifth-generation mobile network capable of transmitting a large data set at a very rapid speed and is also expected to bring more development in remote data monitoring in sectors such as mining, warehousing, telemedicine, and manufacturing, among others.

Meta rolls out its paid verification in Australia, New Zealand

    [ad_1]

San Francisco: Meta has rolled out its paid subscription plan for Facebook and Instagram to users based in Australia and New Zealand.

The subscription plan known as “Meta Verified” offers a verified label, improved reach, better protection from impersonation, access to customer support and exclusive stickers on Facebook and Instagram, reports TechCrunch.

Last week, the company announced that it is testing paid verification for Instagram and Facebook for $11.99 per month for the web and $14.99 per month for mobile.

Moreover, users can look at the benefits offered by the subscription and the procedure to join on the company’s website.

As the company is doing a slow rollout of the plan, many users might not see the option to purchase it right away, said the report.

There are separate plans for Instagram and Facebook, and currently, only the web plan is available for Facebook.

So, if users want to purchase Meta Verified for both platforms, they will have to pay $27 per month.

For Meta Verified, users must be at least 18 years old, have a history of recent activity, such as posting, and have a profile photo that matches the government ID they provide.

As of now, Meta subscribers cannot change their profile name, username, date of birth, or profile picture without unsubscribing and reapplying.

  • Andhra rolls out red carpet to investors

Andhra rolls out red carpet to investors

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Andhra Pradesh, which has been topping the ease of doing business index for the last four consecutive years, has assured prospective investors the fastest single-window clearances, usable coastlines, multiple seaports, quality power supply, abundant land bank, and modern infrastructure.

Addressing an investor roadshow on Monday ahead of the global investor summit slated for March 3-4 in Visakhapatnam, state industries & commerce minister Gudivada Amarnath rolled out the red carpet to India Inc if they are ready to invest in his state.

The state is home to a diversified portfolio of industries such as automobiles, chemicals, aerospace, defence, pharma, textiles etc), and world-class infrastructure in seaports roads, startups and tourism.

On top of it, he said the state, which has the second largest coastline of over 974 km has two major ports and over 40 minor ports, and also boasts of the highest per capita income of USD 3,800 in the country in FY22.

As many as 89 large projects are under active implementation with a total investment of Rs 2.2 lakh crore, with the potential to create 20,000 jobs, he added.

When it comes to project clearance, he said Andhra has been the champion state in ease of doing business for the past consecutive four years.

The state has over 48,000 acres of industrial land banks and is home to 530 industrial estates, 293 industrial parks, 31 MSME parks, six special economic zones, three information technology SEZs, and three of the 11 industrial corridors. All this makes Andhra a competitive investment destination on the East Coast, he said.

State finance minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy said the state is taking big strides as evident from its economic growth at 11.43 per cent GSDP growth in FY22, the state had the highest growth rate all major states. In the past three years, its exports have increased growing 9.3 per cent annually.

Over the past few years, our government has undertaken several reform initiatives to strengthen governance, business environment, policy stability, competitiveness, enhance transparency, to boost the investment climate, said Rajendranath.

Urban development minister Audimulapu Suresh said Visakhapatnam, which is the biggest urban agglomeration of the state with 20 million residents or 5.8 million households.

This vibrant coastal city is a hub for industrial, educational, and tourist activities attracting investments from public and private companies that include oil refinery, zinc, fertilizers, steel, dredging, heavy engineering, ship-building and power generation, he said.

None of the ministers offered any investment targets from the forthcoming summit, though.

Various states have been holding global investor summits and claiming to have sewed up investments worth billions of dollars. At the recently held one such summit in Lucknow, the UP administration has claimed to inked investment MoUs worth over Rs 33.5 lakh crore, while Karnataka’s held in November had claimed close to Rs 10 lakh crore of investment commitments.

Maharashtra and Gujarat, which lead in industrialisation and foreign direct investments, have not held their summits since the pandemic. Many analysts say vast majority of such MoUs die naturally as the average conversion of such commitments into actual investments are only in high single-digit across the states.

“A woman’s age doesn’t define her either personally or professionally,” Lemon tweeted. “I have countless women in my life who prove that every day.”

“He made that comment,” Haley said. “I wasn’t sitting there saying sexist, middle-aged CNN anchors need mental competency tests, although he may have just proven that point.”

Haley, who is 51, called for mental competency tests for politicians over the age of 75 during her campaign launch earlier this week.

“I have always made the liberals’ heads explode,” Haley said. “They can’t stand the fact that a minority, conservative, female would not be on the democratic side because they know I pull independents, they know I pull suburban women, and they know I pull minorities over to what we’re trying to do.”

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp, in its latest update to iOS, has rolled out the ability to create personalized avatars and use them as stickers and profile pictures.

Some users may already be able to configure an avatar on the previous update, but it is rolling out to even more people, according to WABetaInfo.

Users will need to open WhatsApp Settings in order to discover if the feature is already enabled for their account.

Moreover, in the latest update, the messaging platform introduced the ability to record videos hands-free by swiping left inside the WhatsApp camera.

Users also get the ability to undo “delete for me” for a few seconds in the latest update.

Further, the report mentioned that some accounts may receive the new feature over the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to pin messages within chats and groups.

The feature is useful as it will allow users to pin important messages to the top of the chat, reports WABetaInfo.

If a message is pinned and the recipient is using an old version of the application, then the app will show a message in the conversation to ask to upgrade to the latest version available on the store.

High Court Rolls Out Virtual Case Hearing For Ladakh

    [ad_1]

JAMMU: Under the effervescent patronage and guidance of Acting Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Tashi Rabstan, the High Court today rolled out an initiative of taking up the Judicial matters of UT of Ladakh through virtual mode by allowing the parties and lawyers to appear and plead their cases from Ladakh itself.

In its first kind of initiative, the Court of Justice Tashi Rabstan today heard the matters of UT of Ladakh virtually, in which the lawyers and government representatives who were petitioners and the respondents in the listed cases appeared on virtual mode from Leh and pleaded their cases.

As many as, six (6) matters of the UT of Ladakh were listed today before the Bench, in which the virtual proceedings were conducted.

In the today’s era of technology, conducting the proceedings of a case virtually by connecting different locations on one platform is going to be a big boon in the judicial dispensation. Rolling out such a facility for the people of Ladakh by the High Court is aimed at easing out the sufferings of the litigants and the lawyers who earlier had to physically travel to Jammu and Srinagar for appearing in their respective matters. This will save time besides being financially viable for both parties of the case.

“In future, hearing of the matters of Ladakh willl be done virtually by allowing the parties to appear and plead their cases from the UT itself and it will be a regular feature”, stated Anoop Kumar Sharma, Registrar Computers (IT), High Court of J&K and Ladakh.

  • DeSantis rolls out sweeping criminal justice package

DeSantis rolls out sweeping criminal justice package

    [ad_1]

“One juror should not be able to veto that,” DeSantis said Thursday. “I don’t think justice was served.”

DeSantis also wants lawmakers to crack down on colorful fentanyl pills that look like candy and are commonly referred to as “rainbow fentanyl.” His proposal would make it a first degree felony to possess, sell, or manufacture fentanyl that resembles candy. It would also make it a $1 million penalty for trafficking those pills to children. It’s the second year in the row DeSantis focused on fentanyl. Last year, he championed increased mandatory minimum sentences for fentanyl trafficking.

Crafting policies that are tough on crime has been one of DeSantis’ hallmarks in recent years as he has risen through the ranks of the national Republican Party and eyes a likely 2024 presidential bid.

In what amounts to a jab at mostly Democratic-run areas that have done away with cash bail, DeSantis also wants to limit who can be released prior to a first court appearance after being arrested. DeSantis wants to give judges more discretion over those decisions.

“We have rejected in the state of Florida the idea you get rid of cash bail like they did in New York,” DeSantis said. “When the policy first went into effect…there was a woman that was arrested, released, and re-arrested four times in seven days.”

DeSantis also wants to consider allowing the death penalty for child rapists and at least make sure they serve life in prison. He also wants to eliminate “gain time,” which offers reduced sentences for good behavior, for those convicted of attempted sexual misconduct or battery.

Under his proposal, which is not yet a filed piece of legislation, law enforcement agencies would be required to report missing persons in the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System rather than just the Florida Crime Information Center and the National Crime Information Center. He also wants to set aside $5 million for strike forces he created last year to try and crack down on human trafficking and to seize illegal weapons.

The proposal, once filled, would be another in a long line of high-profile proposals DeSantis has pitched focused on changing law enforcement.

Last year, he also secured funding for $5,000 bonuses to attract police officers to move to Florida. Officers who come to Florida from another state or those who are native to Florida but have become police officers for the first time are eligible.
