    Two Injured In Road Mishap In North Kashmir

    Srinagar: Two persons including a driver were injured in a road accident in Sopore area of North Kashmir Baramulla district on Saturday.

    An official said that the accident took place at new colony Amargarh Sopore when an alto vehicle bearing registration number JK05K-6191 collided with a fence wall of a residential house.

    In the incident driver and passenger were injured and were shifted to SDH Sopore for treatment.

    They have been identifies as Ab Hamid Sofi son of Haji Gh Ahmad resident of Azad Gunj Baramulla and Sheikh Aman son of Manzoor Sheikh resident of Jalal Sahib Baramulla.

    A case FIR number 39/2023 U/S 279, 337 IPC has been registered and further investigation has been taken up. (KS)

    SRINAGAR: At least six persons including five tourists were injured after a vehicle skidded off road in Pahalgam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday.

    Quoting an official, KNO reported that five tourists and a local driver were injured after their vehicle skidded off road in Pahalgam.

    He said soon after the incident all the injured were taken GMC Anantnag for treatment. “All the injured are stable,” he said.

    Hyderabad: Teenage girl dies on the spot in road accident at Langar Houz

    Hyderabad: A road accident in Hyderabad has claimed the life of an 18-year-old girl, while her father and younger sister sustained injuries. The incident occurred on Thursday night at Langar House when the victims were traveling on a two-wheeler to their residence located at Brundavan Colony, Tolichowki.

    The victim, Syed Nasreen Begum, and her family were on their way home when a truck hit their vehicle from behind. While Nasreen Begum died on the spot, her father and younger sister, aged 10 years and a student of class VI, were injured.

    According to preliminary reports, the truck driver, Venkataiah, was driving at high speed and lost control of the steering, leading to the accident. The Langar Houz Police have registered a case and arrested the truck driver.

  • RTO Penalises Parents Of Two Boys Involved In Parimpora Road Rage

    SRINAGAR: Regional Transport Officer Srinagar has penalised parents of two boys and also suspended registration of a two-wheeler involved in creating nuisance, attacking and harassing a family on road in Parimpora area of Srinagar on March 27 this year.

    According to two separate order copies, RTO Kashmir has penalised parents of two boys for Rs 5,000 each for being involved in a heinous crime and creating nuisance on the road.

    As per the order, RTO Kashmir has penalised Hilal Mehraj of Mir Mansoor Colony Srinagar and Abdul Hamid Bazaz of Rampora Chattabal for allowing their juvenile sons to drive two-wheelers without possessing a valid license.

    “In exercise of powers under section 180 of MVA, 1988, a penalty of Rs 5000 each is imposed upon Hilal Mehraj and Abdul Hamid Bazaz, owners of the vehicle used in offence, for causing and permitting his vehicle to be driven by a person who did not possess a valid driving license,” reads the order.

    It also added in exercise of powers under section 53 of MVA, 1988, the registration certificate of vehicle No: JK01AS-7723 is hereby suspended with immediate effect, with the direction to surrender the original Registration certificate in this office.

    Meanwhile, RTO Kashmir said the action has been taken so that it would act as a deterrent for others and such incidents are prevented from happening in the future.

    Notably, on March 27 Srinagar police had arrested nine persons for harassing and attacking a family on road in Srinagar. Video of the incident had also gone viral on different social media platforms. (KNS)

    SRINAGAR: A landslide has occurred in the Rezan area of Gund in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Thursday, officials said.

    Quoting an official, news agency Kashmir Dot Com  reported that a landslide occurred in the Rezan area on Srinagar-Sonamarg road, fortunately no loss of life, property has been reported so far.

    The District administration Ganderbal along with police and SDRF are monitoring the situation, he said, adding that the landslide has also blocked the Srinagar-Sonamarg road and the traffic has been diverted via Zirpora.

    New Delhi: In his first political programmes in Karnataka after nomination filing ends on Thursday, Home Minister Amit Shah will hold road shows in Davanagere and Devanahalli on April 21 and 22 and attend several organisational meetings in Bengaluru as the BJP’s campaign to retain power in the state goes into a higher gear.

    Party sources said Shah will be in the state between April 20-23 and will leave for Telangana on the last day to attend political programmes in Telangana’s Chevella Lok Sabha seat.

    Shah’s road shows are expected to give a fillip to the party’s mass connect in Karnataka.

    His several meetings with the state party leaders tasked to spearhead the campaign are expected to fine-tune the poll strategy.

    The 224-member assembly is scheduled for the polls on May 10.

    Srinagar, Apr 17 (GNS): A motorcyclist was killed and two of his pillion-riders injured after a two-wheeler they were plying on collided with a tipper Pahalgam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

    Reports reaching GNS said that an accident took place between Tipper bearing registration number JK 13C 0290 and motorcycle bearing number JK03K –1852 at Lidroo Pahalgam, resulting in critical injuries to the motorcyclist Manzoor Ahmad Bhat and two pillion riders namely Abdul Ahad Mir son of Ali Mohd Bhat and Rouf Ahmad Bhat son of Gh Rasool Bhat – all residents of Krashangam Aishmuqam.

    The injured trio was evacuated from the site to PHC Pahalgam, where the motorcyclist Manzoor Ahmad Bhat succumbed to his injuries.

    Confirming it, a police official told GNS that they have taken cognizance into the incident for further investigations. (GNS)

  • Bandipora-Gurez Road To Remain Closed On April 16

    SRINAGAR: Authorities in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district have ordered the closure of traffic movement along Bandipora-Gurez on Sunday in wake of the fresh weather advisory, officials said.

    Quoting an official, KNO reported that the road to Gurez that passes through Razdan Pass has been closed for the traffic movement today.

    “In view of the forecast for snowfall and as a precautionary measure, today on 16-04-2023 traffic shall remain suspended on Bandipora Gurez road,” he said.

    Notably, the area remains cut off from rest of the valley during winter months due to the accumulation of snow on the road.
