Srinivasa Reddy to resign as YSRCP regional coordinator

    [ad_1]

Amaravati: Senior leader of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and former minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy has decided to quit as the regional coordinator of the party.

Srinivasa Reddy, who was serving as the YSRCP coordinator for Chittoor, Nellore and Tirupati, sent his resignation to the party office.

He was reportedly unhappy ever since he was dropped from the cabinet last year. The senior leader also suspected that some leaders within the party were working against him.

    MS Education Academy

Balineni Srinivasa Reddy is a key leader from Prakasam district and is a relative of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He was unhappy after Jagan Mohan Reddy dropped him from the cabinet last year and was reported to be even planning to quit as MLA.

Srinivasa Reddy, who had served as a minister in the cabinet of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy in the undivided Andhra Pradesh, was angry over Jagan Reddy dropping him while retaining many others who are junior to him. He was miffed over Jagan retaining Adimulapu Suresh, who also hails from the same district, in the cabinet.

The chief minister, however, had pacified him and appointed him the regional coordinator of the party.

However, Srinivasa Reddy was unhappy over not getting due respect in the party. He was also not sure of getting a party ticket in the 2024 elections. He had expressed the fear that a woman might be given the MLA ticket from Ongole in the next elections.

On April 12, Srinivasa Reddy had taken strong objection to security personnel not allowing him to reach the helipad in his vehicle in Markapuram of Prakasam district when Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy was visiting the area.

Srinivasa Reddy left the place in a huff but attended the chief minister’s programme only after the latter spoke to him over phone.

When ministers and other leaders were heading towards the helipad to receive the chief minister, the security personnel stopped Srinivasa Reddy’s car and asked him to get down and walk to the helipad. Taken aback by this, the senior leader pulled up police officials. Angry over the behaviour of police, he returned from there in his vehicle even as Suresh, district SP and other leaders tried to pacify him.

Meanwhile, minister Kakani Goverdhan Reddy described Srinivasa Reddy’s issue as a storm in teacup. He claimed that the former minister is getting due respect in the party.

WFI sexual harassment: ‘Won’t resign’, says Brij Bhushan as protests grow

    [ad_1]

Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh stated on Saturday that stepping down from his position, as demanded by protesting wrestlers, ‘isn’t a huge matter for him’, but he won’t do it ‘as a criminal.’

“The wrestlers’ demands change all the time. They initially requested my resignation as WFI chief, which I refused because doing so would imply admitting the claims against me. Resignation isn’t a huge thing, but I’m not going to do it as a criminal. I am not a criminal,” he remarked.

He further stated that it is not a difficult moment for him because he has always faced challenges.

Brij Bhushan Singh asserted his innocence and stated that he will help with any investigation since he believes in the courts and the investigative authorities.

“I’ve been subjected to abuses and allegations for months. This grieves my family and supporters, but I need an unbiased investigation. For four months, they encouraged people against me and constantly brought fresh people to make allegations. I’ve always admired the government; they’re the ones that take risks. They say I should be locked up, he said adding that his Lok Sabha seat is not due to “the generosity of Vinesh Phogat (one of the wrestlers leading the protest),” but to the people who support him.

He went on to say that ‘one family’ and ‘one akhada (wrestling arena)’ were behind the plot. He accused Congress of attempting to smear his name and said ‘one businessman’ was involved in the plot.

Six days after India’s top wrestlers marched to the streets to demand that a First Information Report (FIR) be filed against Brij Bhushan, Delhi Police agreed to file the FIR on Friday, handing the wrestlers their “first victory in their quest for justice.” The police, backed by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, declared the same before a bench of Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha.

Two FIRs were filed against Brij Bhushan at the Connaught place police station.

Delhi police registered two FIRs against Brij Bhushan on Friday. One FIR was filed under sections 354, 354(A), 354(D) and 34 of IPC, a copy of which was received by the wrestlers. Another FIR was filed under the POCSO act, copy of which will be only given to the victim’s family. Vinesh Phogat and other wrestlers reached the Connaught Place police station on Saturday afternoon, news agency ANI reported.

Will resign if proven I dialled Shah over TMC’s national status: Mamata

    [ad_1]

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said she will resign if it is proven that she dialled Union Home Minister Amit Shah after the Trinamool Congress lost the national party status.

Banerjee, who was speaking to reporters at West Bengal’s state secretariat, said that her party’s name will remain the All India Trinamool Congress.

“I will resign if it is proven that I called up Amit Shah over TMC’s national party status,” she said, rejecting Bengal’s leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari’s claim that she had made the call.

    MS Education Academy

Adhikari on Tuesday claimed that Banerjee had dialled Shah after the Election Commission revoked TMC’s national party status to request him to repeal the decision.

Banerjee asked will the BJP leader resign if his claims are proven wrong.

She said the media will get defamation notices if they do not cross-check before running what BJP leaders are claiming.

The TMC supremo said, “It was the norm to review the national party status of all parties after 10 years. That would mean the next review should have been in 2026 But they did it in 2019.”

“My party’s name will remain the ‘All India Trinamool Congress’. If the BJP has any problem, they can approach the Election Commission and we will approach the common people,” she thundered.

The ECI withdrew the national party status of the TMC, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Communist Party of India (CPI) last week.

Reacting to Adhikari’s assertion, TMC on Tuesday also said there is not even an iota of truth in it.

“Suvendu Adhikari is a habitual liar. We have seen how he has earlier brazenly lied about several political developments. Having a national party status or not is notional, it does not impact the growth of the TMC,” party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh had said.

Banerjee said she has asked for the resignation of Shah who asserted that if the BJP wins 35 plus seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha seats from West Bengal, the Mamata Banerjee government will not survive beyond 2025.

” I demand the resignation of Shah for misusing his constitutional post and breaking the federal structure of our country, through attempts to topple a democratically-elected government,” she said.

Taking on the BJP, Banerjee claimed that it will not be able to get more than 200 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“Will they use ED, CBI, BSF, CRPF and other such agencies to manipulate elections? We don’t even know what is going on with the Electronic Voting Machines,” she said.

The TMC chief described the BJP as the “biggest corrupt party” and said that “instead of questioning others, they should first respond to the Vyapam Scam.

“Whenever elections approach, BJP leaders bring the same old narrative of CAA-NRC, Pulwama and other fake and false stories. These are old tactics,” she said.

She also alleged that BJP has the money to spread fake news and urged people not to trust them.

The chief minister said that the state administration will look into the missing complaint filed by veteran politician Mukul Roy’s son Subhrangshu about his father.

Roy, who his family says is suffering from dementia and Parkinson’s disease, surfaced dramatically in Delhi after the missing person complaint was filed, and claimed that he is a “BJP MP and MLA” and wants to meet Amit Shah.

“Mukul Roy is BJP’s MLA, it’s his affair if he wants to go to Delhi,” Banerjee said.

Roy had won the 2021 West Bengal assembly elections on a BJP ticket after defecting from TMC, but had later crossed back to the party he helped found complaining of ill-treatment at the hands of the saffron party’s leadership.

To a query on the non-BJP parties uniting for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Banerjee said they will “come together” before the polls.

“We believe that silence is golden, hence we are all quiet now. But before the polls, we will come together like a tornado,” she said.

On the CBI collecting partially burnt documents from an open field in Bhangar in South 24 Parganas district, Banerjee questioned the authenticity of the documents and whether the entire matter was planted or not.

Who will resign for this?: Cong on conman posing as PMO official in Kashmir

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Congress on Saturday expressed concern over the case of a conman posing as a PMO official and getting requisite perks, saying if the government is serious about the country’s security then it must make it clear who will resign for the lapse.

Kiran Bhai Patel from Gujarat has been arrested by police from a five-star hotel in Srinagar for posing as an ‘additional secretary’ in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and enjoying security cover besides other hospitality.

He had three cases registered against him in his home state, police said on Friday.

At a press conference, Congress’ media and publicity department head Pawan Khera said it was a very serious matter pertaining to the country’s security and the government probably was not focussed on such matters as it was “busy protecting the prime minister’s best friend”.

“If anyone asks questions to the Modi government, he is anti-national. Which national interest are you serving? If you are at least a little serious about the security of the nation, then tell me that at the political level who will resign in this matter?” Khera said.

“Our three essential questions are — can a PMO officer get Z+ security, should Z+ security be given and is Z+ security availed so easily. It is very important to know from which level the instructions to give security to a thug came?” he said.

In a sensitive area like Jammu and Kashmir, a person has been cheating the security forces for five months and is roaming in those areas with Z+ security by making a PMO card, where common citizens cannot go, he said and raised questions over the government’s intelligence mechanism.

Khera said the government must answer whose resignation will be taken for this lapse.

The ruling party has such a toolkit that the one who asks questions of them is an anti-national while one person takes Z+ security by printing fake cards of the PMO, the Congress leader alleged.

According to court documents, Patel was on his third visit to the Kashmir valley and was subsequently nabbed by alert security officials on March 3.

Patel had claimed he had been given a mandate by the government to identify buyers for apple orchards in south Kashmir and a couple of IAS officers were in awe of him as he had been dropping names of high-ranking bureaucrats and politicians in the national capital.

Maha: Shinde minister challenges Sanjay Raut to resign from RS and get re-elected

    [ad_1]

Thane: Thane Guardian Minister Shambhuraj Desai on Wednesday challenged Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut to resign from Rajya Sabha and get re-elected, claiming that the legislators of the undivided Sena had voted for him then.

Desai was talking to the media here after attending a district planning committee meeting here.

His comments come amid a bitter exchange between the Sena’s two factions after ex-minister Aadtiya Thackeray dared Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to contest against him from Worli in Mumbai.

Desai said all Sena MLAs had followed party chief Uddhav Thackeray’s diktat to back Raut, now a fierce critic of the Shinde faction.

“He had given us specific instructions on the voting for the MP elections which we meticulously followed. Let him (Raut) resign now and win the elections to the Rajya Sabha,” said Desai.

The Sena split after a rebellion by Shinde, who joined hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party to become the CM. He now leads the Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena (BSS), while Uddhav Thackeray is the head of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray).

The BSS on Tuesday termed as “childish” Aaditya Thackeray’s comments challenging Shinde to contest from the Worli assembly seat.

On the tussle between the groups over the Sena’s name and symbol (bow and arrow), Desai, who belongs to BSS, said they will abide by the Election Commission’s decision.

Desai said he will meet the CM and try to get more funds for the Thane district. They have sought Rs 850 crore for the district in fiscal 2023-24, he said.

Model schools, which are a success in Sangli and Satara districts, will be replicated in Thane as well, he said.

Modular operation theatres will be set up in 10 government hospitals in the district, said the guardian minister.

Majority of New Yorkers want Santos to resign, new poll shows

    [ad_1]

    20230111 santos 2 francis 1

The poll is the first large survey on New York voters’ attitudes about Santos, who has refused to step down since a bombshell report in The New York Times in December revealed he had fabricated most of his resume, including his professional background and college education.

Earlier this month, Santos said only the voters could get him to step down.

“I am going to outwork any of the pundits and talking heads that are out there saying I should resign, that I’m unfit for office,” Santos told reporters earlier this month. “When 142 people ask me to resign, I’ll resign.”

He later clarified that he meant to say 142,000 people, a reference to voters in his district.

As more allegations have mounted, some of which he has admitted were exaggerated, Santos has drawn widespread condemnation from within his own party, including Republican officials in Nassau County, who pledged to cut off local support to their colleague in the House.

But House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has largely ignored calls for his resignation because he needs to maintain his slim majority in the chamber.

Santos has received low-level committee assignments, but he also faces a slew of federal and local investigations.

“I Will Resign If Found…”, Says Pak PM Shahbaz Sharif On Allegations Of Involvement In The Attack On Imran Khan

    [ad_1]

Shahbaz Sharif, the prime minister of Pakistan, has stated that he is ready to resign if there is any evidence of the attack that would accuse him or the interior minister. Imran Khan’s claims were denied as baseless by Sharif. He said, “India is celebrating because the institution has been subjected to dirty and offensive attacks on social media,” according to reports.

In a dramatic addition, the prime minister says that God would protect his reputation and that he is offended by Imran Khan’s accusations.

Imran has been in turmoil for a very long period, and Pakistani politics have also been very turbulent. Imran was forced to resign as Pakistan’s prime minister a while back. Imran Khan was the target of gunfire in the interim. The injured man was Pakistan’s previous prime minister. During the Freedom Rally, Imran was the target of firing. In many different areas, there is a lot of pressure and rumour concerning who shot Imran that day. Imran Khan, however, has fueled new allegations that the Pakistani Prime Minister is responsible for the attack.

In a press conference in Lahore, Shahbaz said, ‘I request the Chief Justice of Pakistan to form a full court commission including senior and junior judges. Chief Justice (Umar Atta) Bandyal, I request you to constitute a full court commission. Will also send you a letter about this and I hope you will consider this request. If you do not respond to my request, such complaints will come again. He also said that if Imran Khan gives proof that I or the Home Minister or an army officer is involved in the conspiracy, then I will not be the Prime Minister from that moment. He said, ‘I will resign.’
