  • Leh Resident Hangs Self To Death In Srinagar

    SRINAGAR: A man from Leh allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself to death at a local hotel in summer capital Srinagar on Friday.

    An official said that a man identified as Youtan Kunskyap son of Rinchan Nurboo, a resident of Benzom house Sakti in Leh UT allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself to death at a local hotel here.

    The body was shifted to SMHS hospital where medico legal formalities are being conducted, he said.

    The reason behind his action could not be ascertained immediately, the official said adding, that proceedings have been launched in this regard. (KDC)

    Online applications are invited on prescribed forms from the eligible candidates (MBBS Passed Outrs Only) for engagement as Stipendiary Junior Residents in various disciplines on tenure basis initially for a period of six months .

    ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

    MBBS degree from a recognized College/University

    State/Central Medical Registration.
    Domicile of J&K.

    FINANCIAL EMOLUMENTS:
    The appointee shall be paid revised stipend of Rs. 43700/- plus other usual allowances

    RECEIPT OF APPLICATION:
    Candidates who are interested in applying for Junior Residency at SKIMS have to apply online on SKIMS website (www.skims.ac.in). The link for filling of online application shall be available from of 10th of March, 2023 11:00 A.M to, 17th of March, 2023 5:00 P.M.

    The candidates have to bring hard copy of print-out of filled application form along with Demand Draft of Rs. 1000/- from any branch of J&K Bank pledged in favor of Director Finance, SKIMS with copies of following self-attested certilicates on the date of Interview.

    Srinagar, Feb 20: The Department of Wildlife Protection (Wetlands Division, Kashmir), is conducting the census of Migratory/resident Birds in the valley wetlands on 21st of February-2023.

    The participants from Kashmir University, SKUAST-K, Central University, various colleges, Wildlife Conservation Fund, National Development Foundation, Biodiversity Management Committees, Kashmir Bird Watchers Club, Wildlife SOS, Wildlife Researchers, Society for Environment Education and Development, Wildlife Conservation Foundation, Volunteers and freelancers are taking part in the said census.

    Meanwhile, in this milieu an orientation programme was conducted at Camping Ground, Hokersar Srinagar to inculcate the census techniques amongst the participants and to add valuable suggestions received from the participants. Different teams/groups were established on spot for different locations so that comprehensive estimation will be ensured.

    The aim of the bird count is to monitor the population fluctuation trends of migratory birds and to collect overall figures to incorporate the same with the general bird count throughout India.

    The census is being conducted on 21st of February-2023 not only in eight protected wetlands managed by the department like Hokersar, Shalabugh, Hygam, Mirgund, Chatlum, Kranchoo, Manibugh, Freshkhoori but also in other 25 water bodies of the valley which harbor sizeable number of migratory birds during winter migration.

    The Wildlife Warden, Wetlands Division Kashmir, Ifshan Deewan, stated that coordinated efforts by the Department of Wildlife Protection to conduct the Annual Water bird Census (AWC) this year shall go a long way in creating a sound database of various water bird species particularly the migratory waterfowl that visit the wetlands of the Valley during winter months—(KNO)

    SRINAGAR: Reports said that a resident was charred to death in an early morning fire incident in Srinagar’s Qamarwari area.

    Local news gatherer KDC identified the person as Bashir Ahmad Baba, son of Abdul Gani.

    Though the details are yet to emerge, initial reports said the death occurred due to a fire that started with a Kangri, Kashmir’s traditional fire pot.

    Baba was rushed to SMHS Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

    The news gatherer quoted a police officer confirming the incident, insisting the cause of the fire is being investigated. FSL has been associated with the investigations process, the report added.
