Adani debunks reports on repayment of loans against shares

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Adani Group has strongly refuted news reports which makes the baseless and deliberately mischievous claim that the Group has not completed the repayment of USD 2.15 billion in share-backed debt.

Adani has completed full prepayment of margin linked share backed financing aggregating to USD 2.15 billion and all corresponding shares pledged for those facilities have been released.

Adani said all share backed facilities availed by the promoters have been paid off.

After such repayment, ListCo pledge positions for Adani Green, Adani Ports, Adani Transmission & Adani Enterprises have reduced substantially, and only residual share pledges corresponding to Operating Company (OpCo) facilities remained outstanding.

OpCo facilities are availed by respective OpCo, and are part of their existing debt structure, and no new OpCo facilities have been availed since the short-seller report.

OpCo has secured various facilities based on the security of project assets, project cash flow and other such collaterals.

In addition to such security, listed shares have been provided as additional collateral for these OpCo liabilities for additional lender comfort.

Such facilities do not have covenants like cash margin calls, share price linked put option, etc. which exist in share backed financing.

  • Lulu group chairman Yusuffali dismisses reports of ED summons, calls them fake

Lulu group chairman Yusuffali dismisses reports of ED summons, calls them fake

    [ad_1]

Dubai: Lulu Group Chairman Yusuffali M A on Tuesday dismissed reports of being summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the LIFE Mission case and termed them as fake.

He stated that the group would not give in to any “misinformation campaign” and may take legal action against those who spread such rumors against the group and himself.

His name came to the fore after the chat messages between Swapna Suresh and M.Sivasankar, the now jailed former principal secretary to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, got out.

Lulu Group Chairman Yusuffali says his firm is a structural company

On Wednesday, he said that his firm is a structural company having thousands of employees.

In a press meeting held in Dubai, Yusuffali said, “Just ask the people who report that I got the summons and clear it. Mine is a structural company employing 65000 people. 310 crore rupees are paid as monthly salary outside India, and 25 crore rupees inside India. We have no problem with anyone saying anything. I have been in the Gulf for 50 years.”

“We have to live under the rule of law. Will proceed accordingly. Yusuff Ali is not one to run away in fear when there are problems. I will not be afraid even if some social media people accuse me day and night. I will not back down from the cause of the poor and from my business. Lulu’s legal department will look into it if legal action is required,” Yusuffali said while speaking to the media in Dubai.

    Life Mission

The bribery case pertains to Vijayan’s pet project — Life Mission flat project for the weaker sections of the society.

The Wadakkanchery project in Trissur district is mired in controversy, and the work has come to a standstill after the bribery case surfaced.

The funds for the project came from a UAE-based charity organisation — Red Crescent — and Swapna had alleged that a huge commission money had changed hands in the project. She made the allegations after the builder of the project — Santhosh Eapen — was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate.

Lulu Group Chairman Yusuffali’s name figured after it surfaced that he was also a part of the discussion about the project.

  • Reduction Of Troops From JK Not Anytime Soon, Media Reports

Reduction Of Troops From JK Not Anytime Soon, Media Reports

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: The de-induction of the Army from the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir has been put on hold for the time being as the move has faced opposition from different security agencies. Quoting a top officer in the Unified Command, The Tribune reported that the reduction of troops would happen but not at least until next year.

“It has been made clear that there won’t be any talk on the withdrawal as of now,” he said while referring to a security review meeting held by Home Minister Amit Shah in the first week of December.

“We want it to happen but we have told the government that let’s not do it in a hurry. There is a growing militancy threat in Srinagar,” he added.

Srinagar has become a hub of militancy and around 10 foreign militants are active in the city, he said while adding that they are lying low on the directions of their handlers across the border but they certainly are a big threat.

He rejected the notion that the troops would be removed from J&K and shifted to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) to reinforce the Indian position against China.

“We have sufficient forces along the LAC. We are improving the capabilities now,” he said.

Quoting another senior defense officer, The Tribune reported, “There is certainly a pressure on the LAC due to the Chinese aggression. The security situation in Kashmir is under control. Infiltration from Pakistan has also gone down. If the counter-insurgency is handled by the CRPF and the police in Kashmir, I don’t think there is any harm in withdrawing the Army.”

He also said that the Army had been engaged in counter-insurgency operations in J&K for over three decades, having no experience of war.

However, the Unified Command officer said soldiers were involved in live situational training in J&K.

Pertinent to mention, The Central Government has been discussing the proposal to withdraw the Army from hinterland in J&K and hand over the counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations to the CRPF and the police.

The government has not provided figures that indicate a draw-down but there is the possibility of removing the Army’s nearly 60,000 Rashtriya Rifles soldiers, who are mainly engaged in counter-insurgency operations since mid 1990s, from J&K.

Nearly 1.3 lakh soldiers are deployed in J&K of which around 80,000 are deployed on the Line of Control (LoC).

As per the proposal, the Army would continue to dominate the LoC with Pakistan but would be withdrawn in a phased manner, starting from the relatively peaceful districts.

Flawed reports causes more damage to credibility of poll management bodies: CEC KumarB

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has flagged “flawed” reports of some agencies and organisations, saying they cause more damage to the credibility of election management bodies as the pioneering work done by them finds no place in such surveys.

Kumar urged the EMBs to come up with essential parameters and standards which should guide such surveys and rankings.

He was addressing the 3rd International Conference on the theme ‘Inclusive Elections and Elections Integrity’ on Thursday in a virtual format.

The CEC along with fellow election commissioners were in Bengaluru where they also assessed the poll preparedness of poll-bound Karnataka.

He lamented that countries with low inclusivity are ranked high.
“The flawed report causes more damage to the credibility of EMBs,” he added.
The CEC urged the participating EMBs to come up with essential parameters and standards which should guide such surveys…countries with low inclusivity are ranked high,” the poll panel said in a statement.

Talking about inclusivity, the CEC pointed out that India has 460 million women voters, which is almost equal to the number of men voters.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, more women than men voted. “This is the level of inclusion that India has been able to achieve,” he said.

In his address, Election Commissioner Anup Chandra Pandey said the Election Commission of India has been working for inclusive elections under the premise of ‘No Voter to be Left Behind’.

“Our flagship voter education programme SVEEP connects with over 950 million voters spread over more than one million polling stations across the country,” he said.

Election Commissioner Arun Goel said inclusive elections are a critical building block of ‘Elections Integrity’.

A total of 59 participants from 31 countries/ EMBs including Angola, Armenia, Australia, Canada, Chile Costa Rica, Croatia, Denmark, Dominica, Georgia, Guyana, Kenya, Rep. of Korea, Mauritius, Moldova, Norway, the Philippines, Portugal, Romania, St Lucia, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland and Zambia, as well as representatives of two International organisations, participated in the Conference.

Ileana D’Cruz banned in Tamil industry: Reports

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Ileana D’Cruz is touted as one of the few actors who are bold and beautiful actresses we have in the Indian film industry today. She has been a part of Indian cinema for around 17years now. She made her silver screen debut with the Telugu film Devadasu in 2006 and in 2012, she made her Bollywood debut in Anurag Basu‘s Barfi.

According to latest reports, Ileana has been banned from Tamil industry. Yes, you read that right. As per various Tamil news portals, it all began after a complaint was filed against her by a Tamil producer who claimed D’Cruz took an advance payment for a film but then failed to appear for the shoot. This resulted in financial losses for the producer and, eventually, a ban on Ileana appearing in Tamil films as of now.

However, an official word from the actress and her team is still awaited.

Her last Tamil film, ‘Nanban,’ was released in 2012 and received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. Her performance in the film was critically acclaimed.

Speaking about her professional front, Ileana is back with a bang after a brief break. She recently wrapped production on ‘Unfair & Lovely,’ an upcoming Indian Hindi-language social comedy film about India’s obsession with fair skin. The film is directed by Balwinder Singh Janjua and produced by Sony Pictures Films India. Randeep Hooda plays male lead in the movie.

Gate Locked, Prayers Barred: Anjuman Auqaf Reports Shab-E-Baraat Prohibition At Jamia Masjid

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: On Tuesday, the Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid reported that authorities have prohibited Shab-e-Baraat prayers at the Jamia Masjid in Kashmir. The main mosque of the region had its gates locked, leaving thousands of worshippers unable to pray. The Anjuman stated that officials from the police and administration arrived at Jama Masjid Nowhatta at 5:30 pm and informed them that, as per the orders of DC Srinagar, no Shab-e-Barat prayers would be permitted to take place at Jama Masjid that day. The Hurriyat Conference tweeted about the incident, condemning the disallowance of prayers at Jama Masjid Srinagar

The tweet strongly protests the authorities’ highhandedness, calling it a clear violation and interference with the religious rights of the people. Earlier in the day, the Anjuman announced that Isha prayers would take place at the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar at 10:00 pm, followed by night-long prayers. The Anjuman also demanded the release of chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who has remained under house detention since August 5, 2019.
