Liquor to cost less in Telangana as special cess removed

Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Friday has given a sign of approval for the proposition of the Telangana State Beverages Corporation Limited to decrease the current Exceptional price of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and Foreign Liquor (other than beer).
Beginning on Friday, the stocks shipped from the bottling units will be subject to the revised Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rates.
The revised rates anticipate a reduction of Rs.10 on liquor bottles of 90 and 180 millilitres (ml), Rs.20 on bottles of 375 ml, and Rs.40 on bottles of 750 ml.

As of Friday, the liquor manufactured that is still in depots or stores, which includes stock in transit and waiting trucks before the depots, will be sold at the current MRP.
At a teleconference with officials on Friday, Prohibition and Excise Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmad stated that the liquor manufactured from May 5, 2023, is directed to bear price stickers with new MRP and sold at new rates.
The commissioner further ordered to display of a new MRP in all wine retailers.

According to recent reports, ‘Inshallah’ is back on track, and this time it may star the King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan. The news went viral among SRK fans, with many taking to social media to express their joy at the possibility of seeing their favourite actor in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film.
According to sources, Bhansali was able to convince Shah Rukh Khan to join the project. While neither the director nor the actor has confirmed anything, SRK fans are already anticipating a blockbuster collaboration between the two. If the rumours are true, ‘Inshallah’ will be Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Shah Rukh Khan’s second collaboration. The film is also expected to star Alia Bhatt as the female lead, who previously collaborated with Bhansali on Gangubai Kathiawadi.

Interestingly, Alia previously revealed in an interview that Bhansali had promised her four films after he completed three projects with Deepika Padukone. With Inshallah back on track, Alia’s dream of working with Bhansali again appears to be coming true sooner than she expected.
The news of Inshallah’s revival with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead has created a frenzy in the Bollywood world, and fans can’t wait to see what Bhansali has in store for them.

154 stones removed from kidney of a patient at Hyderabad’s AINU

Hyderabad: Urologists at Asian Institute of Nephrology & Urology (AINU), Secunderabad have successfully removed 154 stones from the right kidney of a 45-year-old male patient.
The patient, a resident of Ramagundam area in Telangana, was presented with CT scan report showing few calculi in the kidney, the largest calculi measuring approximately 62mm x 39mm.
This large calculi is extending into all calyces of the kidney. He was diagnosed with uncontrolled blood sugars on evaluation.

After obtaining his blood sugar levels under control, he underwent endoscopic surgery – Per Cutaneous Nephrolithotomy.
The large stone measuring 62 mm x 39 mm was fragmented and retrieved in multiple pieces.
All the secondary stones were retrieved intact. The number of stones removed including the largest stone were 154 in total.
Speaking about the patient, Raghavendra Kulkarni, Consultant Urologist, AINU, said: “Staghorn calculi are complex renal stones that occupy the majority of the renal collecting system. These stones are associated with high morbidity, which can be in the form of recurrent urinary tract infections, kidney injury and neglected / untreated cases can end up with need for dialysis. Managing patients with staghorn calculi can be challenging, especially in diabetes mellitus patients. Advances in technology and techniques have enabled effective treatment with minimal morbidity.
“The patient underwent multi tract PCNL to achieve complete stone clearance. The largest stone measuring about 62mm x 39mm was fragmented and retrieved in multiple pieces. All the secondary stones from all the calyces were retrieved intact. Secondary stones numbered approximately 153 and the size of the stones varied from as small as 2-3 mm to approximately 10mm. The blood loss was very minimal with no transfusions, and the patient recovered well from Anaesthesia,” Kulkarni added.

PCNL has evolved as the first choice of treatment for patients with complex or large renal stone burdens.
Numerous studies have certified the safety and efficacy of PCNL for renal stones.
The presence of diabetes mellitus increases the incidence of post-operative complications, especially infectious complications.
Dr. Raghavendra Kulkarni also thanked his team of experts that included Dr. Gopal Ramdas Tak, Dr. Suraj Pinni and anaesthetist Dr. Srinivas.

Hyderabad: Temporary mosque removed after complaint from Hindutva groups

Hyderabad: Authorities here on Saturday removed a temporary mosque set up using a container truck cabin on the banks of River Musi at Amberpet. The structure was illegal and had no permission from the authorities concerned.
Some local groups had objections to the mosque and lodged complaints with the district collector and GHMC after which the local Revenue authorities and police acted and removed the structure.
The matter came to light after some Hindutva groups and social media accounts shared the news on their pages and websites about it.

“A cabin made of iron was brought here and given the form of a mosque. Namaz prayers were also offered at this mosque. Three days later, when Bajrang Sena came to know about this, they informed other Hindu organisations. All the Hindu organisations together gave a letter to the District Collector, Commissioner of the Corporation, and Divisional Commissioner requesting the removal of the illegal mosque. The Administration removed the mosque subsequently,” reported sanatanprabhat.org on its website.
Following the development, the police posted a picket in the area.

‘Negative content’ needs to be removed from history textbooks: Maha BJP chief

Mumbai: Amid a row over the removal of certain references in NCERT’s new class 12 textbooks, BJP’s Maharashtra chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Wednesday said some people had deliberately written “negative content” in history textbooks and there was a need to drop it.
He also said that although he was against some “negative descriptions” in textbooks, facts need not be removed from them.
“Gandhiji’s death had magical effect on communal situation in the country”, “Gandhi’s pursuit of Hindu-Muslim unity provoked Hindu extremists” and “Organisations like RSS were banned for some time” are among the portions missing from the class 12 political science textbook for the new academic session.

A political row has erupted over it with the Congress accusing the government of distorting history and “whitewashing with a vengeance”. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), however, claimed that no curriculum trimming has taken place this year and the syllabus was rationalised in June last year.
Answering a query on the issue during a press conference, Bawankule said, “Some people have deliberately written negative content in our history books. It needs to be removed.”
“Our country is marching ahead, progressing and going to be the greatest country in the world. There is no need for negative content,” he said.
After the press conference, when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was asked about his remarks on the issue, he said he was making a general statement over it and not referring to any specific issue.
Replying to a question about why historical facts were being removed from textbooks, he said, “I am talking in general and not particularly about the omission of some chapters or issues. Facts need not be removed from history. My objection is about some negative descriptions.”

Hyderabad: Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Thursday hit out at Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and said that KCR has removed Telangana from his party, why should he not be removed from this state?
“When the Chief Minister does not give place for the people in his main responsibilities, why should we bear him? Tolerate him? When KCR has removed Telangana from his party, why should he not be removed from this state?” the BJP leader said in a tweet.
“We will not give 3 acres to Dalits, will not give CM post to Dalits, will not fill the job vacancies, will not give unemployment benefits, will not give double bedroom houses, will not give funds to panchayats and municipalities, will just announce, but not give funds to temples – KCR,” he added.
Earlier in October 2022, CM KCR launched the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), marking the first step towards becoming a national party to counter the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) itself was launched in April 2000.

Mehul Choksi’s name removed from Interpol’s ‘red’ notice list

New Delhi: In a major setback to Indian probe agencies, the Interpol removed fugitive Mehul Choksi, accused of committing a Rs 11,356.84 crore loan fraud case with the Punjab National Bank (PNB), fron its ‘red’ notice list.
Choksi was added to red notice list in December 2018. As per sources, authorities concerned of the Indian government objected to the move of Interpol but it didn’t budge on the decision
This is a setback to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) which were waiting for his deportation.
However, officials probing the matter said that it will not much affect Choksi’s extradition from Antigua.
Choksi is currently in the Caribbean island nation and Indian authorities have asked Antiguan authorities to extradite him so that he could be prosecuted.

Hyderabad: 5 kg ovarian tumour removed from 64 yr old woman

Hyderabad: City doctors surgically removed an ovarian tumour weighing 5 kg from the abdomen of a 64 year-old woman.
The Renovo Hospitals, Langer Houz announced on Tuesday that the surgery was performed by a group of specialists led by onco-surgeon Dr Sanjay Yadagiri, Dr Padmavathi and general surgeon Dr Gangadhar, and anesthesiologist Dr Pradeep.
The woman was suffering from abdominal pain for a long time after she underwent uterus removal surgery 25 years-ago.
Gynecologist Dr Padmavathi said that clinical examination has indicated a huge mass weighing in the abdomen and imaging tests revealed Mucinous cystadenoma, a benign cystic tumour, in the ovary.
The hospital said that the woman was in healthy condition after the surgery.

The president of the Colombians appointed this same Monday in the position Astrid Rodriguez.
