Owaisi slams ‘Maqbara lag raha hai’ remark over Telangana secretariat

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi responded to ‘Maqbara lag raha hai’ remarks on the new Telangana secretariat and said that the Prime Minister ‘could not build something like this’.

Owaisi congratulated state chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao on completing the new secretariat building named after Babasaheb Ambedkar, which was thrown open on Sunday.

Owaisi tweeted and said that the building must remain a symbol of Telangana’s inclusive growth story.

    MS Education Academy

A Twitter user replied to the post saying that the structure looks like a mausoleum and asked whether it was built for a funeral. Slamming the comment, the AIMIM president said that the new secretariat building design was inspired by various temples.

“Design was inspired by temples of Neelakanteshwara Swamy temple in Nizamabad, Rajaprasads of the Wanaparthy Samsthanam, and Hanuman temple in Sarangapur, Gujarat,” said the MP asking the commenter whether he will still say that the building looks like a mausoleum.

Owaisi also said that during the construction of the building, a waqf-registered mosque was illegally demolished and has now been reconstructed. He said that this was the ‘first instance of a reconstruction of a demolished Masjid’.

He said that the building was beautiful but the Prime Minister could not build something like this.

Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday reiterated its claim that the new secretariat resembles a mosque and has failed to resemble the ’emotions of 85 per cent Hindus’ in the state.

In a graphic tweeted out by @BJP4Telangana Twitter handle, the saffron party called the construction a ‘distortion of history’ as it allegedly doesn’t represent the culture of either the Kakatiyas or the Shatavahana rulers.

This is not the first time that the state BJP went after the style of construction of the new Secretariat.

State BJP chief Bandi Sanjay on February 10 issued a threat to demolish domes of the new Secretariat building if his party was voted to power in the next elections. He says the domes of the new Secretariat reflect the culture of Nizam.

Sanjay, who is known for making controversial statements, alleged that CM KCR turned the secretariat into a tomb like the Taj Mahal to please AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi.

The state government has also issued a clarification stating that the building has been modelled on the lines of various temples, including the Hanuman temple in Gujarat’s Sarangapur.

FIR filed against Shekhawat for his ‘Ravana’ remark against Gehlot

    [ad_1]

Jaipur: An FIR was registered against Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh on Saturday over his alleged remarks against Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot at a rally two days ago, police sources said.

The FIR was registered on a complaint filed by Congress leader and former MLA Surendra Singh Jadawat.

At the BJP’s ‘Jan Aakrosh’ rally in Chittorgarh on Thursday, Shekhawat had allegedly described Gehlot as the “Ravana of politics in Rajasthan” and asked people to “resolve to establish Ram Rajya in the state”.

    MS Education Academy

Jadawat told PTI, “I have filed a police complaint tonight against Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for using such derogatory language against the chief minister of Rajasthan. He tried to outrage religious feelings while addressing a BJP rally.”

The FIR has been registered under sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, etc.), 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage reli gious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or reli gious beliefs), 500 (defamation) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the Indian Penal Code, the police sources said.

According to the FIR, the BJP organised a meeting at a public place on April 27 where Shekhawat was the key speaker and he gave a speech to “incite” people.

The minister spread false information about “popular” Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and spread hatred. Shekhawat insulted the chief minister by addressing him as the “Ravana of politics” with the intention of tarnishing his reputation, the FIR stated.

BJP’s ‘Vishkanya’ remark for Sonia shows the rot in politics: Ashok Gehlot

    [ad_1]

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday slammed a Karnataka BJP leader for calling former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi a ‘Vishkanya,’ saying the use of the term was a reflection of the vitiated political discourse in the country.

“Remarks made by a Bharatiya Janata Party leader in Karnataka against Sonia Gandhi reflect the rot in politics. Sonia Gandhi is respected across the country, by both ruling and the opposition parties,” Gehlot told reporters in Hanumangarh.

“With such lowly and despicable statements about her, I think a new form of BJP is emerging,” he said .

    MS Education Academy

During an interaction with the media in poll-bound Karnataka, BJP MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal Thursday night called Sonia Gandhi a ‘Vishkanya,’ apparently responding to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s comparison of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a ‘poisonous snake.’

Gehlot in his turn accused the BJP of distorting its opponents’ remarks in order to mislead the public.

“I think their countdown is starting from Karnataka. If we make any comment on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he distorts it and presents it in front of the public to win the election, we have seen that many times,” he said.

All the same, the Congress leader said he will personally write a letter to Modi and ask him to take action against Yatnal.

He said if the PM or Karnataka CM don’t take action then it will be clear they share the opinion of the BJP MLA.

  • Rahul to address rally tomorrow in Kolar where he made remark on Modi surname

Rahul to address rally tomorrow in Kolar where he made remark on Modi surname

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will address a party rally on Sunday in Kolar, the same place where he made a remark on the Modi surname for which he was convicted of criminal defamation and also stripped of his Parliament membership.

According to state Congress sources, the former AICC president will arrive in Bengaluru on Sunday morning, and travel to Kolar where he will address the ‘Jai Bharat’ rally organised by the party.

In the evening, Gandhi will inaugurate the newly constructed ‘Indira Gandhi Bhavan’ – office and auditorium with a seating capacity of 750 people – near Karnataka PCC office in Bengaluru.

    MS Education Academy

Several senior Congress leaders including AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, General Secretary in-charge of Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala, KPCC chief D K Shivakumar, legislature party leader and former chief minister Siddaramaiah are expected to participate in the events.

The rally was first scheduled on April 5, which was then postponed to April 9, and finally to April 16, due to poll preparation and candidate selection process, among other reasons, Congress sources said.

Gandhi was on March 23 sentenced to two years in jail by a court in Gujarat’s Surat in a 2019 criminal defamation case over his “why all thieves have the Modi surname” remark. A day later, he was disqualified from the Lok Sabha from the date of his conviction in the case. The Gandhi scion had made those remarks at Kolar in April, 2019 during the Lok Sabha poll campaign.
His visit on Sunday is important for the party ahead of the May 10 Assembly elections in Karnataka.

Kolar is significant as Siddaramaiah has expressed his wish to contest from there, as his second seat. He has already been fielded from Varuna in Mysuru district.

Congress has not yet named its candidate for the Kolar seat.

Uorfi Javed issues clarification on her ‘go to hell’ remark against Ranbir Kapoor

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Uorfi Javed and controversies go hand-in-hand. She recently made headlines for saying “go to hell” to actor Ranbir Kapoor.

The whole incident spiralled after Ranbir expressed his views on Urfi Javed’s fashion statement while speaking to Kareena Kapoor Khan on her show ‘What Women Want’ last month.

On the show, Ranbir said he did not like Uorfi’s fashion choice, terming it as “bad taste”. On the other hand, Kareena in one of the interviews heaped praises on Uorfi’s fashion sense.

    MS Education Academy

Uorfi recently spoke to Humans of Bombay, wherein she opened up on Kareena hailing her confidence.

“I was blown away, I couldn’t believe it at first. I thought she might have said something bad and these people are joking with me that she has said something good. But then I saw the video and that day I felt that I have achieved something in life. Kareena Kapoor complimented me, I was like I have achieved a lot,” she said.

She also “sarcastically” took a dig at Ranbir.

“Kareena Kapoor ne meri tareef ki hai! Kareena Kapoor ne! Woh jo gum tha ki Ranbir Kapoor ne bola ‘bad taste,’ maine bola ‘bhaad main jaaye Ranbir Kapoor (I was upset about Ranbir’s comment, but then after Kareena’s compliment, I was like ‘Ranbir can go to hell’). Kareena Kapoor ne meri tarif kar di hai fir kya hai Ranbir ki aukat (Kareena has praised me, I don’t need anyone’s validation or anything)” she added.

However, Uorfi’s remarks on Ranbir did not go down well with his fans. A section of social media users slammed Urfi over the “go to hell” comment.

On Monday, Uorfi took to Instagram Story and shared a string of posts, explaining that she was being sarcastic and didn’t mean that Ranbir Kapoor should literally “go to hell” for his earlier remark on her style being in “bad taste”.

“I never said go to hell Ranbir. I mean… I said it in a very sarcastic and humorous way with no disrespect meant to anyone. And bhaad is not equal to hell,” Uorfi said in a video clip.

In another video, Uorfi Javed said, “Mera sarcasm kisi din mujhe pitwaygi… (laughs)… in short meinkisi din pit jaungi yaar, ya toh mere kapdo ke wajah se ya toh mere baaton ke wajah se (I will be beaten someday either because of my words or outfits.).”

Uorfi rose to fame after featuring in ‘Bigg Boss OTT’ in 2021.

CM Khattar expresses regret, withdraws remark on judge

    [ad_1]

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday expressed regret and withdrew his remark on a judge after it sparked a political row with opposition Congress dubbing the statement “an attack on the country’s judiciary”.

In a video posted by Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala on Sunday, Khattar could be heard assuring someone during a “Jan Samvad” programme in Bhiwani district that “Wo hal ho jaayegi, chinta mat karo. Ek judge hai…. (Your issue will be resolved, don’t worry. There is a judge…”

Khattar had made the remark on Sunday. He is currently on a visit to Bhiwani district where he is holding interaction with the villagers on their grievances.

    MS Education Academy

Surjewala had claimed that Khattar made an objectionable remark against a high court judge and termed it “an attack on the country’s judiciary”.

“It is an attempt to influence the high court proceedings,” Surjewala had said, while condemning the CM’s remarks. He had demanded that the Chief Justice of India and the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court take cognisance of the matter and issue a contempt notice to Khattar.

He had also demanded that CM apologise to the judiciary for his remarks.

He claimed that Khattar was talking about the recruitment of constables in the Haryana Police over which a case is pending before the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

With opposition training guns at Khattar over the remark, the chief minister said on Monday he believed the comment should not have been made.

“I respect courts of law. I immediately also said that whatever the courts rule is the final verdict and there is no doubt about that,” Khattar told a private channel in Bhiwani when asked about Surjewala’s tweet.

Khattar also said that things move forward by maintaining a balance among the judiciary, executive and legislature and the three organs work for the public welfare.
“It was a question pertaining to an inordinate delay. An examination took place, and the result was also announced, but a stay was imposed (by the court). Thus, an ‘Aswabhavik si tippani’ (uncharacteristic comment) came out. I also feel it should not have been made. Even if a thing might have reached a particular judge, I withdraw my words.

“But, I intended to say that thousands of people are affected due to this delay, and they are not getting adequate time for their training. Daily we are asked about this. In Sunday’s public meeting too, all such people who could not join their jobs also came… Thus, an uncharacteristic comment was made which I regret,” Khattar added.

Meanwhile, at a press conference here, when former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was asked the comment, he said said, “Those who are sitting in responsible positions should not speak irresponsibly”

Remark against Uddhav: Raigad court discharges Union minister Rane

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: A magistrate court in Raigad district of Maharashtra on Saturday discharged Union minister and BJP leader Narayan Rane in a case pertaining to his controversial remark against the then chief minister Udhav Thackeray.

Rane was discharged from the case by Chief Judicial Magistrate ( Raigad-Alibaug) S W Ugale. A detailed order is not available yet.

An FIR was registered against Rane at Mahad in Raigad district under sections 189 (threat of injury to public servant), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of public peace) and 505 (statements conducive to public mischief) of the Indian Penal Code in 2021.

    MS Education Academy

Rane was arrested from the coastal Ratnagiri district for his remark that he would have slapped Thackeray over the latter’s ignorance of the year of India’s independence.

“Rane allegedly made a statement on the (then) chief minister’s conduct. He didn’t make any statement which was promoting enmity between different groups on the ground of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, caste or community or any other ground whatsoever,” his lawyer Satish Maneshinde had submitted during the hearing of the discharge application.

Furthermore, the alleged statement was not likely to cause any disharmony or feelings of enmity, hatred or ill-will between religious, racial, language or regional groups or castes or communities, the advocate had argued.

He had said the case was politically motivated and hence, bad in law.

Rane faces four FIRs across Maharashtra over his controversial remark.

“It is shameful that the chief minister (Uddhav Thackeray) does not know the year of independence. He leaned back to enquire about the count of years of independence during his speech. Had I been there, I would have given (him) a tight slap,” Rane had said.

He had claimed Thackeray forgot the year of independence during his August 15 address to the people of the state.

Rane had defended his remarks against Thackeray, saying he hasn’t committed any crime by making them.

Thackeray had served as the chief minister from November 2019 to June 2022.

Justin, Hailey Bieber’s remark on Ramzan fasting irks Gauahar Khan

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Actor Gauahar Khan called out celebrity couple Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber for their comments on fasting during the holy month of Ramzan after they laughed over the aspects of ‘Roza’. In an online interview, Justin and Hailey made fun of people who observe fast during Ramzan. Justin was saying that fasting “deprives your body of nutrition.”

After watching the interview of Justin and Hailey, Bigg Boss fame Gauahar Khan took to her Instagram stories to call out the celebrity couple for making such an insensitive remark.

Justin and Hailey are seen discussing the concept of fasting in an interview shared by a page named Hijab Modern on Instagram. “I gotta really think about that, I have never really done it…I think our bodies need nutrition to think properly.” starts Justin.

Hailey then said that without having food for the whole day does not “make sense to her,” and further said, if you want to fast off the TV, fast off your phone, I think I believe in that more, but fasting off food… it never really made sense to me… or if you are fasting sweets or fasting sugar.”

“We’re totally like yeah, that’s why you are stupid!” she concluded.

The comments made by Justin and Hailey did not go well with Gauahar Khan and she posted the video on her Instagram Stories and wrote in the caption, “Just proves how dumb they are. Only if they knew about the science behind it. And the health benefits from it! Get an education @Justinbieber and @haileybieber. Its okay to have an opinion btw! Pawar steps in amid row over Rahul’s Savarkar remark, asks Cong to tone down attack

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Amid strains in the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi alliance over Rahul Gandhi’s strident criticism of V D Savarkar, NCP chief Sharad Pawar has stepped in to play the peacemaker by conveying the Shiv Sena’s concerns on the issue to the Congress leadership.

Opposition leaders said Congress has agreed to tone down its criticism of Savarkar, which has led to unease among the NCP and Shiv Sena, its alliance partners in Maharashtra.

Pawar raised the issue during a meeting of opposition leaders convened by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday evening and made it clear that targeting Savarkar, a revered figure in Maharashtra, would not help the opposition alliance in the state, two leaders who attended the meeting told PTI.

Former Congress Presidents Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were present at the meeting along with leaders of opposition parties.

Pawar also told Rahul Gandhi that Savarkar was never a member of the RSS and underscored that the real fight of the opposition parties was with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP.

As the BJP stepped up attack on Rahul Gandhi and sought his apology for “maligning” India on his recent tour to the UK, the former Lok Sabha member from Wayanad had said that he was not Savarkar and would not apologise.

Former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray had slammed Gandhi for his attack on Savarkar and said his outfit will not tolerate any insult of the freedom fighter.

The Thackeray faction of the Shiv Sena had skipped the meeting convened by Kharge as a mark of protest against Gandhi’s remarks targeting Savarkar.
