“Country is in safe hands”: Kangana Ranaut reacts to Salman Khan receiving death threat

Haridwar: Actor Kangana Ranaut on Sunday reacted to Salman Khan receiving death threats, saying that the country is in the safe hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah and therefore there is nothing to fear about security.

She said, “We are actors. Salman Khan has been provided with security by the Centre. He is getting protection from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, then there is nothing to fear.”

“When I was threatened, I was also given security by the government, today the country is in safe hands. We have nothing to worry about,” she added.

Ranaut visited Haridwar on Sunday and performed Ganga Aarti. She would also be visiting Kedarnath Dham after this.

The actor said, “I always wanted to visit Kedarnath Dham and finally that is happening.”

Salman Khan has been provided with Y+ category security by the Mumbai Police amid the death threat.

On Saturday, Salman shared his experience and how he is dealing with it at India TV’s show ‘Aap ki Adalat’ that, “Security is better than insecurity. Yes security is there. Now it is not possible to ride a bicycle on the road and go alone anywhere. And more than that, now I have this problem that when I am in traffic, then there is so much security, vehicles creating inconvenience to other people. They also give me a look. And my poor fans. There is a serious threat that’s why there is security.”

He added, “I am doing whatever I have been told. There is a dialogue ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ ‘they have to be lucky 100 times, I have to be lucky once’. So, I got to be very careful.”

Salman continued, “I am going everywhere with full security. I know whatever is going to happen will happen no matter what you do. I believe that (points towards god) that he is there. It is not that I will start roaming freely, it is not like that. Now there are so many Shera’s around me, so many guns are going around with me that I am myself scared these days.”

Following the death threat, few days ago, a minor was arrested by Mumbai Police for allegedly threatening to kill Salman.

Mumbai Police said that a threat call was made to the Mumbai Police control room on April 10. The caller, who identified himself as Rockey Bhai from Jodhpur in Rajasthan, said he was a Gau Rakshak (cow-vigilante). The caller threatened to “eliminate” Salman Khan on April 30.

Mumbai Police added revealed the caller was found to be a minor. “As of now, we don’t think the call should be taken seriously. But we are probing why the minor behaved in such a way,” an officer said.

On March 26, one person identified as Dhakad Ram, a resident of Luni in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur district, was arrested for sending a threat mail to Salman. He was apprehended and taken into custody.

A case was registered at Bandra police station. The accused, in his mail, alleged that the superstar will meet the same fate as “Sidhu Moosewala.”

“A case has registered at Bandra police station with regard to emailed threats to kill Salman Khan. In a joint operation, Mumbai Police and Luni police teams caught the accused, Dhakad Ram, a resident of Luni in Jodhpur district,” Ishwar Chand Pareek, an officer at Luni police station of Jodhpur told ANI earlier.

Khan has been provided with Y+ category security by the Mumbai police after assessing threat perceptions. The Maharashtra government assigned security escorts to the superstar after the actor received a threat letter from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Hamas stops receiving donations via Bitcoin

    [ad_1]

Gaza: Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian militant group Hamas, announced its decision to stop receiving donations via the digital currency Bitcoin.

The group said in a statement that the decision was taken “within the framework of ensuring the safety of the donors and not subjecting them to any harm”, reports Xinhua news agency.

“We took the decision, especially in light of the intensification of the pursuit and the doubling of the hostile effort against anyone who tries to support the resistance (Hamas) through this currency,” said the statement.

Hamas called for the continuation of donations in various available ways other than donating funds with Bitcoin.

Israel Radio reported that the Israeli counterterrorism office for economic affairs last week seized funds in crypto-currency which amounted to more than half a million shekels.

According to the report, more than 80 digital accounts of exchange companies working to serve Hamas in the Gaza Strip were seized.

The Al-Qassam Brigades previously called for providing financial support through digital currency to help it to deal with financing challenges.

Bitcoin, the worldwide cryptocurrency and digital payment system, was released as open-source software in 2009.

The system works without a central repository or administrator, and the transactions take place between users directly.

KCR govt can’t take credit for Telangana villages receiving awards: BJP leader

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vice-president NVSS Prabhakar on Tuesday said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao-led government cannot take credit for the villages in Telangana receiving more national gram panchayat awards.

Talking to ANI, Prabhakar said, “The national awards for gram panchayats have been announced. Telangana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh are some states that bagged these awards. These awards have been given for the proper implementation of central government schemes in rural areas. This award is not given to the KCR government. This is not for the activities or schemes they (state government) have brought in.”

“It has been given for the work of the gram panchayats in regard to individual toilets, cleanliness, the Swatch Bharat project and others. This award is given for the proper implementation of these programs which helped the rural areas. We congratulate the sarpanches of these villages for this achievement”, Prabhakar added.

Earlier on Monday, CM KCR appreciated Telangana gram panchayats on receiving 13 out of the 46 national awards.

The awards were presented by President Droupadi Murmu in Delhi on Monday.

KCR congratulated the village administration and other officials for receiving the ‘National Conference on the Promotion of Panchayats – Awards ‘ held at the Vigyana Bhavan in Delhi on Monday.

The Chief Minister said that these awards are testimony to the rural development activities, implemented by the state government.

Hyderabad: KCR to skip receiving PM Modi again

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will once again skip receiving Prime Minister Narendra Modi when the latter arrives here on April 6 to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various projects.

The state government on Thursday named Animal Husbandry Minister T. Srinivas Yadav as minister-in-waiting for the Prime Minister’s visit, and he will receive Modi on his arrival at Begumpet Airport.

This is the fifth time in the last 14 months that the Chief Minister will not be receiving the Prime Minister on the latter’s visit to the state.

    MS Education Academy

The Prime Minister is scheduled to flag off Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express at Secunderabad railway station and later attend a public meeting at Parade Ground to inaugurate or lay foundation stone for various projects worth over Rs 11,300 crore.

The latest visit by Modi comes at a time when Telangana police have arrested state BJP President and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar in 10th class question paper leak case.

After Sanjay’s dramatic arrest late on Tuesday night, he was sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

BJP leaders have alleged that Sanjay was arrested deliberately on the eve of the PM’s visit.

KCR, as the Chief Minister is popularly known, had not received Modi when he had arrived on November 12, 2022 to dedicate Ramagundam fertiliser plant to the nation.

The ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) had taken exception to the PMO not extending a proper invitation to the Chief Minister.

Earlier, KCR had skipped welcoming Modi on July 2 when the latter had arrived for BJP’s National Executive meet.

In May, KCR had avoided welcoming Modi when the latter was in Hyderabad to attend 20th annual celebrations of the Indian School of Business (ISB).

Just before the Prime Minister’s arrival, the Chief Minister flew to Bengaluru to call on former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda.

In February last year, KCR had stayed away from receiving Modi on his visit to the city to unveil the statue of equality.

This had evoked strong reaction from BJP leaders, who alleged that the Chief Minister is insulting the office of the Prime Minister.

  • Karnataka: Muslims at the receiving end of politics of polarisation

Karnataka: Muslims at the receiving end of politics of polarisation

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: Muslims form one of the largest communities with a 13 per cent population in Karnataka. Leaked reports claimed that the census during the tenure of the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government put them ahead of the Lingayats and the Vokkaligas in terms of numbers.

The Karnataka legislature has seven MLAs from the Muslim community and all are from the Congress party. This is the lowest Muslim representation in the last decade. In 2008, nine Muslim MLAs were elected in the state.

In 2013, 11 Muslim candidates won, nine from the Congress and three from the JD (S). The highest Muslim representation (16 MLAs) was in 1978 and the lowest (2) was in 1983.

In spite of the numbers, Muslims are not being considered for tickets to contest the upcoming assembly elections in proportion to their numbers, even by the Congress party.

Analysts say that polarisation by the ruling BJP and Hindutva forces is the main reason for it. Starting from the hijab crisis, boycotting of Muslim traders to Azaan calls, the Muslim community has been targeted by the BJP.

The involvement of individuals and radical organisations of the Muslim community in the murders of Hindu activists in different parts of Karnataka and the cooker bomb blast case, has only made the situation worse for the community.

According to political analysts, Muslims can win in 21 assembly constituencies and play a deciding role in a large number of seats across the state.

Dr Chaman Farzana, a retired professor and national secretary of the All India Mahila Congress, told IANS that the Muslims have the largest population after the SC/ST communities in the state. They are more in numbers when compared to the Lingayats, Vokkaligas and Kuruba communities.

“Lingayats are demanding tickets to 71 seats from the Congress. The BJP will not even consider giving a ticket to any Muslim candidate and no other party is considering Muslim candidates generally. They can’t do anything as the BJP has polarised the society,” she explained.

“Earlier my grandfather won the Chitradurga MP seat. There was no polarisation then. People didn’t consider caste as a criterion to cast their votes. The community’s concern now is to defeat the communal BJP and the RSS in the elections by ensuring the victory of the Congress party,” she maintained.

The community is unhappy that representation is not given to them to contest the elections. “But, we have to sacrifice to ensure the victory of the Congress,” Farzana stated.

Congress MLA and former minister U.T. Khader told IANS that the concern of the community is that the government should act according to the Constitution. Every community and individual should be treated equally without government discrimination.

The present government is spreading hatred in the state. Once the government is formed it should not discriminate against people on the basis of religion. Only hate speeches are heard from the ruling party’s leaders. The government itself is making hate speeches. The communal issue has to be taken care of by the government. When the government itself becomes communal, who will care? Khader asked.

The feeling of alienation is there among the Muslim community but they are reposing faith in the Constitution and feel that the Congress is the only hope for them, Khader stated.

  • Man orders iPhone, kills the delivery agent while receiving it: Report

    [ad_1]

A 20-year-old man allegedly killed a Flipkart delivery partner who came to deliver an iPhone at Karnataka’s Haasan district, reported The Hindu.

The accused stabbed the delivery person as he did not have money to pay for his order.

According to the report, Hemant Datta, the resident of Lakshmipuram in Haasan district’s Arsekere ordered an iPhone through Flipkart in the beginning of February. Hemanth Naik who works as a delivery agent with the e-commerce site came to the house of the accused on February 7 to deliver the phone. While delivering the phone, there was an argument over the payment and unboxing the mobile phone between the two and Datta allegedly stabbed Naik with a knife in his house. Police said that Naik died on spot and Datta had hidden the dead body in a gunny bag. Two days later, Datta threw the bag on a nearby railway track and later buried the body with petrol.

As the deceased went missing from February 7, his brother Manju Naik filed a police complaint with Arsekere police station. The police found the dead body at a railway track and the accused was arrested on Saturday. A case has been filed on the accused and police are investigating the matter further.
