A federal jury on Tuesday found that Donald Trump sexually abused and defamed E. Jean Carroll, a writer who accused the former president of attacking her in a department store dressing room in the 1990s.

The verdict in the civil trial marks the first time that Trump, who has been accused of sexual misconduct by more than two dozen women, has been held legally responsible for sexual assault. And it adds fresh tarnish to the former president’s reputation as he seeks to regain the White House amid a tide of legal troubles.

The actor is involved in a legal fight with his wife and other family members and a lot of blame game was covered by media outlets from past three months about his life. Nawazuddin Siddiqui who enjoys a massive fan following has recently made a shocking revelation by hinting that he might leave acting and everything and become a monk.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who is promoting his rom-com Jogira Sara Ra Ra says that he would rather prefer quitting the industry than be stereotyped in a particular role. His statement about a monk left his fans in shock and his future plans are being widely discussed on social media platforms.

The Motichoor Chaknachoor actor stated: “You learn everyday, it’s a new experience which helps enhance your craft. I can’t act the way I used to 20 years ago because today I carry the experience of those many years.”

In an interview with India TV, Nawazuddin Siddiqui also said, “A man advocates for himself throughout his life, becomes a judge for others, and gives judgment. I want to become a monk. He said, “Mai monk hota ofcourse. Mai shayad chala bhi jau, aapko pta bhi chalega. Haan mujhe bda acha lagega. Jahan par kuch ruhani ho, mujhe acha lagta hai hai wahan.”

Well, time will tell whether he will quit the industry and everything in future or not but currently his statement is what has made his fans anxious.

  • British PM Sunak to read from biblical book at King Charles III’s Coronation

British PM Sunak to read from biblical book at King Charles III’s Coronation

    [ad_1]

London: Rishi Sunak will read from the biblical book of Colossians at the Coronation of King Charles III in keeping with the recent tradition of British Prime Ministers giving readings at State occasions, the office of the Archbishop of Canterbury revealed as part of the official Liturgy for the religious ceremony at Westminster Abbey here on May 6.

Sunak, Britain’s first Prime Minister of Indian heritage and a practicing Hindu, reading from a biblical book will resonate with the multi-faith theme being struck for the Christian ceremony.

Lambeth Palace, the office of the Archbishop of Canterbury Reverend Justin Welby, said that members of other faith traditions will play an active role in the service for the first time.

    MS Education Academy

“The Archbishop of Canterbury has selected a new Epistle for this Coronation, which will be Colossians 1:9-17. This passage has been chosen to reflect the theme of service to others, and the loving rule of Christ over all people and all things, which runs through this Coronation Liturgy,” Lambeth Palace said.

“Following recent tradition of British Prime Ministers giving readings at State occasions as Head of the host Nation’s government this will be read by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak,” it said.

By longstanding tradition, the Archbishop of Canterbury authorises a new Liturgy or the form according to which a public religious worship takes place for every Coronation. The three oaths by the King at the heart of the service remain unchanged, including the promise to maintain “the Protestant Reformed Religion”.

The overall theme of the Liturgy is “Called to Serve”, which is intended to reflect the commitment that the King will make to serve God and the people of the United Kingdom.

“I am delighted that the service will recognise and celebrate tradition, speaking to the great history of our nation, our customs, and those who came before us. At the same time, the service contains new elements that reflect the diversity of our contemporary society,” said Welby.

His office said the service has been designed to reflect the changes in the UK since Charles’ mother Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation in 1953, the character of Britain as it is today, and the Church of England’s role in contemporary society. As one of the newer elements, the 74-year-old monarch will pray aloud in the Abbey using words specially written for the occasion that reflect the “duty and privilege of the Sovereign to serve all communities”.

Lambeth Palace confirmed that the Presentation of the Regalia will be made by Members of the House of Lords and for the first time, some of the items which have no Christian meaning or symbolism will be presented by peers who belong to different faith traditions: Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Sikhism.

Buckingham Palace had previously confirmed that Lord Narendra Babubhai Patel, 84, will represent the Hindu faith and hand over the Sovereign’s Ring to Charles. While Lord Indrajit Singh, 90, will represent the Sikh faith and present the Coronation Glove, Lord Syed Kamall, 56, of Indo-Guyanese heritage, will represent the Muslim faith and present the Armills or a pair of bracelets.

“At the end of the procession at the close of the service, before His Majesty proceeds to the Gold State Coach, the King will receive and acknowledge a spoken greeting delivered in unison by Representatives from Jewish, Hindu, Sikh, Muslim and Buddhist communities,” Lambeth Palace said.

The thousands congregated at the Abbey and millions expected to be watching on screens as the ceremony is telecast live will be invited to say the words: “I swear that I will pay true allegiance to Your Majesty, and to your heirs and successors according to law so help me God”.

The five elements of the historic “English Coronation Rite” will take place in their traditional order: The Recognition; The Oath; The Anointing; The Investiture and Crowning; and The Enthronement and Homage.

These elements will take place within the traditional structure of a service of Holy Communion, including prayers and Bible readings, and King Charles and Queen Camilla will receive Holy Communion during the service.

Han Kang: ‘One year I couldn’t bear fiction and read astrophysics instead’

    [ad_1]

    My earliest reading memory
When I was a child, my father, a young and poor novelist, kept our unfurnished house packed with books. A deluge spilled out from the shelves, covering the floor in disorderly towers like a secondhand bookstore where the organising had been put off for ever. To me, books were half-living beings that constantly multiplied and expanded their boundaries. Despite the frequent moves, I could feel at ease thanks to all those books protecting me. Before I made friends in a strange neighbourhood, I had my books with me every afternoon.

    My favourite book growing up
What I read in my early childhood were children’s books by Korean writers such as Kang So-cheon or Ma Hae-song. I remember being mesmerised by the story of a photo studio that printed pictures of people’s dreams. And the image of a child feeling sorry for the trees sleeping standing up at night and singing: “Oh tree, oh tree, lie down and sleep.” A particularly unforgettable translated children’s book is The Brothers Lionheart by Astrid Lindgren.

In my late teens I was absorbed in reading Russian literature, especially the long, tenacious novels by Dostoevsky. Death of a Poet by Pasternak was also a favourite I’d read multiple times.

    skip past newsletter promotion

The book that changed me as a teenager
At the age of 14, I read Sapyong Station, a short story by Lim Chul-woo. It depicts a rural train station in the dead of a snowy night, and there’s no protagonist; the inner monologues of passengers waiting for the last train combine like a medley. One coughs while another tries to strike up a conversation, and someone else throws sawdust into the stove and looks into the flames. I was enthralled by this lively story and decided to become a writer.

The writer who changed my mind
About 10 years ago, I read WG Sebald’s Austerlitz and came to dwell on the way he penetrated deeply into the inner world to embrace collective memories. Since then, I have read most of his books; The Emigrants is the one I cherish.

The author I came back to
There was a year when I could neither write nor read fiction. I could only watch documentaries because fiction films were unbearable. I spent my time reading mostly astrophysics books. But somehow Jorge Luis Borges was an exception. I revisited and savoured the volumes by him that I’d flipped through in my 20s, such as The Book of Sand and Shakespeare’s Memory.

The books I discovered later in life
The Periodic Table by Primo Levi. Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino. Dubliners by James Joyce. The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy. Nox by Anne Carson.

The books I am currently reading
Dictee by Theresa Hak Kyung Cha and The End of Days by Jenny Erpenbeck.

    My comfort read
Most books I read before bed are about plants, such as Jane Goodall’s Seeds of Hope or Peter Wohlleben’s The Hidden Life of Trees. The book I turn to when I need silence is Glenn Gould Piano Solo by Michel Schneider.

  • Don’t Believe Everything You Read About Tucker Carlson

Don’t Believe Everything You Read About Tucker Carlson

    [ad_1]

The Daily Beast’s anonymous source attributed the firing, in part, to Carlson’s foul language. He allegedly used the “C word” to describe stolen election theorist Sidney Powell, and not just once. This information supposedly surfaced during discovery proceedings in the Dominion Voting Systems defamation lawsuit. The Los Angeles Times relied on an anonymous source to say the firing “came straight from Fox Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch with input from board members and other Fox Corp. executives,” and another alleging that the discrimination lawsuit filed by a recently fired producer on Carlson’s show was the cause.

At the Wall Street Journal, “people familiar with the matter” told the paper Fox was disturbed by the derogatory comments he made about the network in the Dominion documents, some of which were redacted but seen by Fox personnel. Anonymous Fox employees told Semafor they thought the discrimination suit and Carlson’s criticism of Fox executives, recorded in the court documents, had played a role. Rolling Stones’ anonymous sources spoke of an “oppo file” the network had kept on Carlson that would be used to retaliate against him if he spoke ill of Fox. The oppo file is said to contain information about workplace conduct, Carlson’s rude comments about Fox brass and colleagues, his lewd comments about women, and so on.

Surely the most fascinating anonymous tidbit appeared in Vanity Fair, where the source said that Carlson had gotten fired because Murdoch was annoyed by a messianic speech Carlson gave at the Heritage Foundation last Friday. “That stuff freaks Rupert out. He doesn’t like all the spiritual talk,” the source told the magazine. Such religious jabber, another anonymous source added in the piece, was behind the recent cancelation of Murdoch’s engagement to Ann Lesley Smith, a reputed Bible thumper who regarded Carlson as “a messenger from God.”

The comic thing about the conflicting anonymous accounts is while they seemed sure they knew why Carlson had been knocked off, Carlson himself is said to not know. How do we know that? From anonymous testimonies in New York magazine and Vanity Fair.

The journalists who were called upon to file quick turnaround stories on the canning of Carlson have our sympathies. “Why” is the most vital component of the Who, What, When, Where and Why formula behind news stories. News consumers want to know abut Carlson’s firing, but after that’s out of the way, they want to know why. An editor either instructs his reporters to find a source who can supply the why, or he allows reporters to pepper their copy with anonymous sources because it makes it look like they’ve answered the “why.”

As we see in the Carlson example, the anonymous sources — who are variously described as a “Fox news source,” “people familiar with the matter,” “a source,” “another source,” “sources,” “eight sources,” “a source briefed on the conversation,” “people familiar with the company’s thinking,” and other fuzzy IDs — don’t fundamentally agree on the reason for his ouster. Now, it could be, as NPR media reporter David Folkenflik said Wednesday on the WAMU show 1a, that the reason for Carlson’s firing is a little like the plot of Murder on the Orient Express: Everybody might be a little bit right. But the variety of early “reasons” throws doubt on the practice of relying on anonymous sources.

When anonymous sources provide documentation or other ancillary proof of their statements such as recordings, they surface information that can be verified and do readers a great service. But in many cases, they get to spout off without taking any responsibility for what they say. Readers are often given no way to judge the credibility of anonymous sources. For all we know, the “Fox news source” cited could be upper management or a spring intern. Does the source have an agenda that is coloring his blind quotations? How hard did the reporter work to verify what the anonymous source said?

In the coming days, we’re likely to learn more about the decision-making behind Carlson’s removal as named sources step up or if documents from the discrimination lawsuit and the Dominion case filter down to reporters. But until then, we can use the early Carlson reporting as a warning for readers not to overinvest in breaking news that depends so heavily on anonymice.

As the investigative journalist Edward J. Epstein once wrote, “Every source who has supplied a journalist with part of a story has selected that bit of information, whether it is true or false, for a particular purpose.” When those sources are anonymous, they can be entirely unaccountable and absolutely wrong. Read all the anonymously sourced stories you like, but be forewarned that they can be detrimental to your news health. Especially when they take a place of primacy in breaking news like the Carlson sacking.

JKBOSE to Skip Practical Exam for Class 10, Read Details Here – TheNewsCaravan

    [ad_1]

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has recently announced that it will not be holding practical exams for Class 10 students. Instead, BOSE will rely on the internal tests conducted by schools during the academic session. According to Lal Hussain, Joint Secretary, Examination, BOSE, the schools will forward the 20 marks internal results, which is already a set procedure.

However, BOSE will hold external practical exams for Class 11 and 12 students. The decision to skip practical exams for Class 10 students comes after the Jammu and Kashmir government decided to provisionally promote them to the next class in a bid to avoid academic loss. As per the “Uniform Academic calendar,” students who appear in Class 10 and 11 exams shall be provisionally admitted to Class 11th and 12th, respectively, after the conclusion of the board exam.

The Class X exam in soft zones of Kashmir concluded on Wednesday, and more than 63,500 students appeared for the matriculation exam. The exam for Class 10 in hard zones started from April 8. Hard zones are those areas that are snowbound and not reachable. Since access to the area was difficult during March, the government decided to hold their exam separately.

Following the board’s decision, the admission process to the next classes has begun in Kashmir, with several schools already issuing admission forms to students. Private schools have also completed the admission process. This decision by BOSE is expected to provide some relief to students as they can avoid additional stress and focus on their regular studies.

  • Azad’s Book Out, Read the Revelations

    [ad_1]

    by Raashid Andrabi

SRINAGAR: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who recently launched his autobiography “Azaad”, has made explosive claims about his former party, Congress, its leadership and more. In his book, Azad provides a personal account of his political journey spanning five decades and offers insights into the evolution of India’s political landscape. The revelations in Azad’s autobiography have stirred up a storm in political circles; with many wondering about the impact they will have on Congress and Indian politics. The book is sure to cause ripples in the Congress party, which is already struggling to remain relevant in Indian politics.

The Launch of “Azaad: An Autobiography”

Ghulam Nabi Azad’s book “Azaad: An Autobiography” was launched on April 5 in New Delhi in the presence of several prominent political leaders drawn from various parties. The book offers a personal account of Azad’s political journey spanning five decades, tracing the remarkable evolution of India’s political landscape. The book launch was attended by former Union Minister Dr Karan Singh, who released the book.

In a tweet, Azad said, “With candid reflections on my life and career alongside some of India’s and the world’s most influential leaders, ‘Azaad’ captures the essence of the great Indian story. I hope my readers will enjoy reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it”.

    Dealing with Mufti’s Backdoor Entry

Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi Azad, has spoken about the behind-the-scenes events leading up to the formation of the state government in 2002. Azad claimed that he had offered the opportunity for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to join the government, believing that it would make the government more stable. However, he alleges that PDP leader Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had other plans.

After initially agreeing to join the government, Mufti suddenly demanded to be made the Chief Minister, causing a rift between the parties. Ultimately, despite having the support of 42 MLAs, Azad was forced to return to national politics, while Mufti became the Chief Minister. Azad’s revelations have shed new light on the contentious events that unfolded in Jammu and Kashmir nearly 20 years ago.

Azad has claimed in his autobiography that late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed misused his generosity to become the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir in 2002. Azad said that he offered Mufti Muhammad Sayeed to be part of the government when he had a letter of support from 42 MLAs to become CM. In the book, Azad reveals that he trusted Mufti and did not spot his deviousness. He also mentioned that Mufti confirmed his participation in his government when he and Dr Manmohan Singh, the then leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha, met him in Srinagar. Azad claims that Mufti wanted to hijack the government and become the chief minister of the state.

PDP calls Azad’s book “blatant lies” and “cock and bull story”

‘Azaad’ reveals an alleged attempt by former J&K Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to hijack the government during the 2002 PDP-Congress government formation.

But the PDP has dismissed Azad’s claims as “blatant lies” and accused him of trying to engineer defection and split Muslim votes. Senior PDP leader Naeem Akhtar also accused Azad of conspiring with the Governor, leading to unrest in 2008, and distorting facts to appease PM Modi. The PDP’s response has been critical, questioning Azad’s credibility and legacy in J&K, The Hindu Reported.

Akhtar’s sharp reaction came after reading the book excerpts produced in the newspapers, which he said looked like “to appease Modi and distort the facts about Kashmir.” He also accused Azad of taking dictation from somewhere else and said that he was performing duty in J&K, perhaps to retain his bungalow in Delhi and secure a Rajya Sabha seat.

    Azad’s Revelations on Rahul Gandhi

In an interview with the media, Azad claimed that Rahul Gandhi is the primary reason why he and many others are not in the Congress today. He asserted that one has to be “spineless” to remain in the grand old party. Azad claimed that it is not in the hands of Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi or even Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to ensure his return in the party fold even if they wanted.

He asserted, “It was too late” for him to do so even if Rahul Gandhi sought his return. The veteran leader, who has since floated the Democratic Progressive Azad Party, said no one is “untouchable” in politics today and he could go with any party to form a Government as he did not rule out going with the BJP, to be a part of a Government in Jammu and Kashmir if both win once elections are held there.

Azad also noted that had Rahul Gandhi not torn the ordinance brought out by the UPA Government in 2013, he would not have been disqualified today and described the then Union Cabinet as “weak” by not going ahead despite Gandhi tearing the ordinance.

    Azad’s Views on Congress Leadership

Ghulam Nabi Azad is not mincing his words when it comes to his criticism of the current Congress leadership. In a recent interview, he slammed them for “running the show on Twitter” and claimed to be “24-Carat Congress” compared to their “18 Carat”. He also lamented the party’s tendency to project incapable leaders and the prevalence of sycophancy within the party.

Azad also had some advice for party leaders facing probe agencies, suggesting they should not be forced to appear and instead cited former prime ministers who voluntarily went along with their leaders when facing inquiries. Despite his loyalty to the party, Azad questioned whether the Congress truly wants people like him, or just those who are fast on Twitter and make grandiose claims.

Azad’s Scathing Criticism of Senior Party Leaders

Ghulam Nabi Azad has also taken a swipe at senior party leaders Jairam Ramesh and Salman Khurshid in his autobiography, “Azaad”.

Azad criticizes senior Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh and Salman Khurshid in his autobiography “Azaad”. He accuses Ramesh of not protesting against the repeal of Article 370, while he takes issue with Khurshid’s comments calling “Rebels with Cause” traitors. Azad also bemoans the downfall of the Congress party, blaming the leadership’s inability to recognize potential leaders and the prevalence of sycophancy within the party.

MC Stan’s team breaks Abdu Rozik’s car, read details here

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Tajik singer Abdu Rozik is one of the most loved celebrities in India. He rose to fame after participating in the TV reality show Bigg Boss. During the season 16 of the Bigg Boss, Abdu remained part of Mandali (a group of various contestants) which was loved by most of the audience. One of the Mandali members, MC Stan emerged as the winner and these members were often seen partying after coming out of the house too.

After Stan suddenly started ignoring Abdu Rozik, the young singer recently revealed that his friendship with Stan has ended. Abdu’s team also issued a statement in this regard which reads that on March 10, Sajid Khan visited Abdu and called MC Stan but he hung up saying he will call later.  According to the statement, Abdu had also sent Stan a voice note to the Bigg Boss winner to which the latter didn’t respond.

A day after MC Stan did not respond to Abdu’s voice note, Tajik singer spoke to rapper’s manager saying he “wanted to support his brother by attending, not performing” at his show. Chota Bhaijaan according to the statement was told by the security team and organizers that Stan didn’t want Abdu at the venue.

“Abdu then thinking this was a mistake from Stan’s team, tried to go to the venue as a normal guest with a ticket only to be sworn at very bad words by Stan’s management and to be turned away at the normal entrance. Abdu’s car was also damaged ,” the statement further reads.

As per the statement, Stan’s team has informed the independent two record labels that Stan did not want to collaborate with Abdu after they wanted the duo to work on one of the label’s projects. “Abdu was naturally disappointed and saddened due to the response as he believed he and MC Stan are friends. Abdu at first wanted to discuss with Stan privately and sort out the differences before admitting publicly that they are not in good terms,” added the statement.

It also reads that the mandali members had informed Abdu earlier that Stan was offended after Chota Bhaijaan didn’t take a picture with Stan’s mother at the Bigg Boss finale.

“As little or large an issue may be, respect is so important between brothers and between fans and their idols. We condemn anyone who is being racist, body shaming, bullying, height shaming, and defaming Abdu and will take action against the specific group of accounts who are doing this,” the statement concluded.

MC Stan, Abdu Rozik, Sajid Khan, Shiv Thakare, Sumbul Touqeer Khan, and Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia were the members of the mandali during the Bigg Boss season 16.
