Hyderabad: 200 buildings to be razed in Bandlaguda Crystal Township

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: As many as 200 buildings in Crystal Township on the outskirts of Hyderabad will be demolished and steps will be taken initially to complete the demolition of the under-construction buildings in this venture.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), while initiating the demolition drive at Crystal Township located in Bandlaguda, said that this 44-acre stretcher is not approved and there are orders of the Telangana High Court regarding this venture and the residents of the area have been continuously issued notices by the municipality.

The civic officials will launch a massive operation in Crystal Township Bandlaguda with the help of several bulldozers under heavy police supervision and said that 200 buildings in this township have been identified and issued notices and no response has been received from them so far. Hence, it has been decided to carry out demolition operations in a big way.

Those who bought the property in Crystal Township and built their houses say that if it is illegal and unapproved, then why did the government departments remain silent at the time of sale, and how these properties were registered? When asked by the residents, civic officials said they were ensuring the implementation of the court’s orders.

Despite heavy police deployment in the township for the demolition, the residents of Crystal Township protested and raised slogans against the GHMC action. The victims expressed their displeasure over the venture sold by Pride India. The company’s officials, saying that in connection with the unapproved layout, the applications had been filed under the LRS to regularize the lands in this venture, but now that 200 buildings have been identified by the civic officials.

Those protesting against the demolition were detained by the police and officials have warned that if anyone tries to disrupt the demolition of the municipality, cases will be registered against them on charges of interfering in government work.

Indore: Bulldozers deployed by the Indore Municipal Corporation on Monday demolished illegal construction at the Beleshwar Jhulelal Mahadev Temple, where last Thursday, 36 people were killed after its floor caved into a stepwell.

District administration officials and police personnel were present in strength as bulldozers rolled in.

The floor of a stepwell of the temple located in Patel Nagar of the city caved in during a Havan on the day of Ram Navami.

The mishap occurred at the Beleshwar Jhulelal Mahadev Temple around 11 am on March 30 when a havan was being organized on the occasion of the Ram Navami festival. The roof of the stepwell on which devotees were sitting collapsed.

Rescue operations began and continued for around 24 hours till Friday afternoon.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced ex gratia for the kin of those who died and compensation for those injured.

A total of 36 persons died and 16 people were rescued in the incident. The bodies were brought from all around to Patel Dharamshala in the city and after that, they were taken to Muktidham (crematorium) by ambulances and Gujarati community buses.

CM Chouhan and his cabinet ministers also inspected the rescue operation at the site of the incident. He said that a magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the incident and action will be taken against those found responsible.

“An FIR was registered, and a magisterial inquiry was ordered into the incident. Action will be taken against those found responsible. The current priority is the rescue operation. The injured will be treated free of cost. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also announced the ex-gratia amount to the victims. We have ordered an inspection of such step-wells and borewells across the state,” Chouhan said.

  • Illegal ‘dargah’ in Mahim sea razed post Raj Thackeray’s threat; AIMIM reacts

Illegal ‘dargah’ in Mahim sea razed post Raj Thackeray’s threat; AIMIM reacts

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Barely 12 hours after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray’s dramatic revelations of an unauthorised ‘dargah’ coming up in the Arabian Sea off Mahim, the BMC rushed a team there and demolished it, here on Thursday.

A team of BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) along with a heavy police bandobast, a JCB and other equipment, swooped onto the so-called ‘mazaar’ (grave) of an unknown person that had quietly manifested on a tiny rocky islet a few metres away from the Mahim sea-shore.

The BMC-police teams examined it thoroughly, removed the flagpoles with green and white flags, other paraphernalia on and around the ‘mazaar’ and then rolled a bulldozer which reduced it to dust.

Earlier, they also discussed the matter with the trustees of the 600-year-old Hazrat Makhdum Shah Baba Radiallahuahhu, Mahim, which offered their full support to curb any illegalities on the islet nearby.

The purported ‘mazaar’, covered with a green cloth, garlands and flower-chadars, used to attract a few devotees who would wade through knee-deep sea-water for a few metres to visit the site and offer prayers there.

The development came the morning after Raj Thackeray pulled the ears of the state government, Mumbai Police and civic administration, and drew their attention to the potential security threat lurking there.

MNS Spokesperson Sandeep Deshpande welcomed the BMC action while state Bharatiya Janata Party President Chandrashekhar Bawankule congratulated Raj Thackeray for highlighting the matter which opened the eyes of the government.

He served an MNS-style ultimatum that unless the ‘dargah’ is demolished within a month, the MNS would go and erect a Ganpati Temple at the same spot.

Hinting at security implications, Thackeray had roared: “The Mahim Police Station is close by, the BMC officials keep moving around there… Yet, since the past two years this ‘dargah’ is blatantly coming up in the sea… Another ‘Haji Ali Dargah’… And there’s nobody to talk about it?”

Returning with his old style of addressing rallies with a visual component — ‘Laav re te video’ (Play that video) after five years — Raj ordered playing a clip, apparently shot with a drone, hovering around and over the tiny islet, clearly showing the ‘mazaar’ that has cropped up in the Mahim sea.

The video showed images of some green and white flags, fluttering on a tall pole and on strings around, a handful of men and women ‘devotees’ paying their respects at the makeshift grave of the unknown person reportedly resting there.

AIMIM questions intention behind razing of illegal dargah:

The All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) state President and MP Syed Imtiaz Jaleel has fully supported the BMC’s act of razing an illegal “dargah” which was coming up in the Arabian Sea off Mahim, here on Thursday.

However, he questioned the honesty of the intentions behind razing the ‘dargah in the Mahim sea and said it appeared to be an “understanding” between the ruling Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), just as the holy month of fasting, Ramzan, starts.

“We have no objections if the structure ‘dargah’ was illegal and it has been demolished… But what about hundreds of other similar unauthorised constructions of various communities that keep cropping up all over the state? They should also be dealt with similarly,” Jaleel told the media.

On the ‘dargah’ demolition issue today, he pointed accusing fingers at Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and their “puppet” MNS President Raj Thackeray of acting in tandem to build up passions on Ramzan-eve.

He wondered how, if the alleged “mazaar” on a tiny islet was coming up openly since the past two years, the state government, BMC, Police and elected representatives remained silent, doing nothing to stop it.

“I feel that Fadnavis may have asked Raj to raise the issue in his Gudi Padwa rally, and he would get it (dargah) removed the next morning… This way Raj’s stature would go up before his supporters, and simultaneously the Sena-BJP wouldn’t spoil its image before the Muslim community,” Jaleel claimed.

He raised doubts over “Raj’s real motives” behind raising the issue of mosque loudspeakers just before Ramadan month and keeping quiet the rest of the year, and asking for the Muslim community’s stand on such issues.

“But, what’s his locus standi…? Is he the CM, Deputy CM, a Minister, MP, MLA? Who is he…?” asked Jaleel, who has recently made overtures to the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance of Congress-Nationalist Congress Party-Shiv Sena (UBT).

Tipu Sultan razed temple to build Jama Masjid, claims Karnataka BJP

    [ad_1]

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national secretary C T Ravi claimed that the Jama Masjid in Srirangapatnam town of Mandya district, Karnataka is built over an ancient Anjanaya (Hanuman) temple, which was ‘razed down’ by Mysuru ruler Tipu Sultan.

Addressing reporters, Ravi, flanked by senior BJP leader KS Eshwarappa, demanded an archaeological survey of the mosque in order to prove his point.

“There’s a Kote Anjaneya temple that has been turned into a Masjid. Let the archaeology department survey it. If there is any evidence of a temple then they (Congress) must accept the fact that Tipu was a fanatic, if not, we will tender an apology,” said Ravi.

The 18th-century Mysuru ruler is a constant target of the saffron party.

Last year, state chief minister Basavaraj Bommai had said that the people of the state wouldn’t forgive Congress leaders for displaying a soft corner for terrorists and for talking about Tipu Sultan in order to appease the minority vote bank. He made the remarks while addressing a Jan Sankalp Yatra that was attended by former CM B S Yediyurappa in Pandavapura.

On February 10, Ravi accused the Congress party of doing politics on the policies of Tipu Sultan. “Congress is doing politics on the policies of Tipu Sultan. We are doing politics on the policies of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar,” he said.

On February 15, Karnataka BJP president Nalin Kateel Kumar, while addressing a public rally, asked them to “kill” all “ardent followers” of Tipu Sultan.

“I ask the people here whether you offer prayers to Lord Hanuman or Tipu. Then will you send those who are ardent followers of Tipu to the forest? Think about it. Do you think Karnataka needs Hanuman devotees or descendants of Tipu? I am issuing a challenge — those who are ardent followers of Tipu should not remain alive on this fertile soil,” Kateel said.

  • Maharashtra: ‘Langar’ that fed 2 mn during lockdown razed, Sikh baba evicted

Maharashtra: ‘Langar’ that fed 2 mn during lockdown razed, Sikh baba evicted

    [ad_1]

Yavatmal: In a sad and shocking development, a ‘langar’ which fed over two million hungry migrants during the first lockdown year, has been demolished ostensibly owing to certain disputes among the landlords, on a remote corner of Yavatmal National Highway.

The 84-year-old Sikh ‘sevak’ Karnail Singh Khaira, who managed the ‘langar’ to serve the masses for the past 35 years on the Yavatmal NH-7, has been rudely evicted and is practically living on the street.

The ‘langar’ — which became the saviour for lakhs of poor villagers, tribals and migrants on the move during the lockdown period starting March 24, 2020 — was famed as ‘Dera Kar Seva Gurdwara Langar Sahib’, or simply ‘Guru Ka Langar’ near Karanji village.

It was run by Khaira, who is revered as ‘Khaira Baba’ in the region, and immediately after the first nationwide lockdown was clamped, he fed droves and hordes of hungry people landing there, 24×7, free of cost, running only through donations.

“Owing to some disputes among the land owners, a few days ago, the authorities came and demolished the entire 3,000 sq ft ‘langar’ which I had started from scratch, nurtured and built for 35 years,” the dejected Khaira Baba told IANS.

Shiv Sena (UBT) farmers’ leader Kishore Tiwari rushed there for a spot assessment and pointed fingers at the state administration for bringing down the ‘langar’ linked to the historic Gurudwara Bhagod Sahib in Wai, some 11 km away in a forested area.

“There was some bickering among the owners, but this ‘langar’ has been working undisturbed for over 35 years… It rendered yeoman services to millions of hungry people before, during and after the lockdown. The present state government came just seven months ago and ordered its demolition,” fumed Tiwari.

The Sena (UBT) leader assured Khaira Baba that he would demand a proper rehabilitation in the same vicinity, a suitable compensation for all his losses and ensure that the ‘langar’ resurrects again to serve the poor.

On his part, Khaira Baba claimed that it is surprising that although the matter among the owners was pending in the court, the government ordered the demolition and ousted him from there.

“This is a very sensitive issue that has been rashly handled by the state administration. We shall take up the matter seriously with the concerned departments and ministers,” said Tiwari.

It may be recalled that after IANS first highlighted Khaira Baba’s humanitarian services (May 31, 2020), he and his small team attained global fame for the selfless ‘seva’ provided non-stop to the snaky queues of starving people for months, with nothing available for around 450 km on that desolate highway stretch.

The ‘langar’ was linked to the historic Gurdwara Bhagod Sahib, where the 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, had stayed in 1705, while enroute Nanded, around 250 km away, where he was assassinated on October 7, 1708.

Nearly 125 years after his martyrdom, the world-famous ‘Gurdwara Takht Hazuri Sahib Sachkhand’ (Nanded) came up and is one of the five Takhts of Sikhism, visited by lakhs of devout Sikhs from all over the world every year.

“As the main Gurdwara Bhagod Sahib is in the jungle, in 1988 this ‘langar’ came up here on the highway and I was assigned to manage it, with the guidance of the Nanded Gurdwara Sahib’s Baba Narinder Singhji and Baba Balwinder Singhji,” recalled Khaira Baba.

After getting the eviction order late in January, Khaira Baba ran helter-skelter, sought the help of FDA Minister Sanjay Rathod in Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Cabinet, besides other officials.

“The minister and the officials promised that they would save the ‘langar’, but in the past fortnight, a demolition team with police forces bulldozed the entire place to rubble,” said Khaira Baba, who has nowhere to go now.

Tiwari said that if it was a matter of restoring a tribal property to the owners, as claimed, “then why the huge lands belonging to tribals that have been illegally usurped by many politicians are spared of the government’s bulldozer while a small charitable ‘langar’ of a Gurdwara was singled out for action”.

Senior police inspector of Pandharkawada, Jagdish Mandalwar, confirmed the development but said “we were merely following orders” and had no knowledge about any other issues.

When asked what inspired him to serve millions at the ‘langar’ for 35 years, the Meerut-born Khaira Baba looked at the sky and said: “It’s the Wahe Guru’s ‘marzi’ (decree)… I am only his instrument to serve humanity. I lived and slept at the ‘langar’, ate the same food given to all the people, and my sole belongings on earth are three sets of clothes. Everything came in selfless donations.”

The man who fed millions for 35 years is now himself surviving on the dole of some kindly locals. He sleeps in his vehicle at night but remains optimistic that Tiwari and others shall help him restart the ‘langar’ at the earliest.

  • Hyderabad: Secundrabad building gutted in fire being razed at brisk pace

Hyderabad: Secundrabad building gutted in fire being razed at brisk pace

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Around 10 to 15 percent of the commercial building at Secundrabad that was gutted in fire on January 19, was reportedly brought down with the help of a long breaker hydraulic crane by evening on Friday.

With the demolishing team working at a brisk pace since Thursday, the process is expected to be completed within five to six more days.

The work started from the top floors with around 15 workers employed for the task.

A hydraulic crane with a diamond cutter, equipped with a water sprinkler facility, is being used to demolish the building.

The Deccan Knitwear Sports Accessories complex is being pulled down without much human interference, with a foolproof plan with none from the demolition team stepping afoot the building.

Since the corners and joints of the complex building were gutted completely in the fire mishap, they were the first to be pulled down.

Later, cranes started pulling down columns and beams of the structure.

The main roads which lead to the complex were also closed to traffic, as a precautionary measure.

No person was allowed near the demolition site, and other commercial establishments located nearby have been cordoned off for safety.

    Massive fire story

A massive fire broke out on January 19 in the building housing the garment store at Nallagutta on Minister Road in Secunderabad.

Two fire service officers were injured while trying to douse the fire, which raged for almost two days.

Three workers Waseem, Zaheer and Junaid were reported missing after a huge fire broke out in the building. Some survivors said the three persons had gone to collect their belongings but were trapped.

Nearly a week after the fire incident, the rescue workers continued to look for remains of the missing persons in the huge rubble.

The skeletal remains of one person were found on January 21 and the same were preserved at Gandhi Hospital for DNA analysis.
