Sanjay Raut quizzed on death threats, accused’s wife files complaint

Mumbai: A Thane police team on Wednesday recorded statement of Shiv Sena-UBT MP Sanjay Raut on his allegations that MP Shrikant Shinde, the son of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, had hired mafia goon Raja Thakur to kill him.

Simultaneously, Thakur’s wife, lawyer Pooja Thakur filed a police complaint against Raut for making defamatory remarks against her husband.

On Tuesday, Raut had created a sensation by claiming that the CM’s son and Thane MP Shrikant Shinde had contracted alleged goon Raja Thakur to “finish him off”.

He had written letters to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and top officials seeking protection as his security cover was removed after the change of power in the state last year.

Raut’s contentions were dismissed outright by both Shinde and Fadnavis, and while they assured a probe into his allegations, but cautioned that he (Raut) could face action if he was indulging in any “political stunts”. He was accorded security cover.

After submitting her complaint with the Kapurbavdi Police Station, Pooja Thakur told media persons: “Who has given him (Raut) the right to call my husband a goon… I have lodged a complaint against him under IPC’s Section 211.”

Besides Raut, other Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders like former Congress CM Ashok Chavan and Nationalist Congress Party ex-Minister Dr. Jitendra Awhad have also raised apprehensions of death threats in the past few days.

Case against Sanjay Raut on charge of making derogatory remarks against Maha CM Shinde

    [ad_1]

Nashik: Nashik Police have registered a case against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, an official said on Monday.

Shinde faction officer-bearer Yogesh Beldar lodged a complaint at Panchavati police station here late Sunday night, alleging that during an interaction with a TV channel, Raut used derogatory words against CM Shinde and maligned his image, he said.

Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against Raut under Indian Penal Code Section 500 (defamation), the official said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during his visit to Pune on Saturday, said those who chose to “lick the soles” of people with opposite ideologies have found which side truth was on after the Election Commission declared the faction headed by CM Eknath Shinde as the real Shiv Sena and gave it the ‘bow and arrow’ symbol.

When asked about Shah’s remark, Rajya Sabha member Raut on Sunday said, “What is the present chief minister licking? Maharashtra doesn’t give importance to what Shah says.”

Raut in a tweet on Sunday also claimed that a “deal of Rs 2000 crore” has taken place so far to “purchase” the Shiv Sena party name and its ‘bow and arrow’ symbol, a charge dismissed by the Shinde faction and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

  • Rs 2,000 cr deal to ‘purchase’ Shiv Sena name and symbol, claims Sanjay Raut

Rs 2,000 cr deal to ‘purchase’ Shiv Sena name and symbol, claims Sanjay Raut

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday claimed a “deal of Rs 2000 crore” has taken place so far to “purchase” the Shiv Sena party name and its ‘bow and arrow’ symbol.

However, MLA Sada Sarvankar from the camp led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde dismissed the claim and asked, “Is Sanjay Raut a cashier?”

Raut in a tweet claimed the Rs 2,000 crore was a preliminary figure and this was 100 percent true. He also told reporters that a builder close to the ruling dispensation shared this information with him.

The Rajya Sabha member said his claim was backed by proof which he would disclose soon.

The Election Commission on Friday recognised the Eknath Shinde-led faction as the real Shiv Sena and ordered allocation of the ‘bow and arrow’ poll symbol to it.

In a 78-page order on the protracted battle for control of the organisation, the EC allowed the Uddhav Thackeray faction to keep the “flaming torch” poll symbol allocated to it till the completion of the Assembly bypolls in the state.

Raut on Sunday said Rs 2,000 crore is not a small amount to “purchase” the name Shiv Sena.

“The EC’s decision is a deal,” he alleged.

“I have reliable information that there has been a deal of Rs 2000 crore to get the Shiv Sena name and its symbol. This is a preliminary figure and is 100 percent true. Many things will be revealed shortly. Never before this has happened in the country’s history,” Raut tweeted.

To a question on Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s attack on former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray with “licking soles of those with opposite ideology” jibe, Raut asked, “What is the present chief minister licking? Maharashtra doesn’t give importance to what Shah says. The current chief minister has no right to take Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s name.”

Shah on Saturday said those who chose to “lick the soles” of people with opposite ideologies have found which side truth was on after the EC declared the faction headed by Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde as the real Shiv Sena and gave it the ‘bow and arrow’ symbol.

Without naming Uddhav Thackeray, Shah also reiterated there was no agreement on sharing the chief minister’s post in the run up to the 2019 Assembly polls.

The Shiv Sena broke its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party after the results of the 2019 Assembly polls were declared, claiming the latter had reneged on a promise to share the CM’s post with it.

Uddhav Thackeray subsequently teamed up with the Nationalist Congress Party and the Congress to lead the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), till it fell in June last year after Shinde rebelled.

Maha: Shinde minister challenges Sanjay Raut to resign from RS and get re-elected

    [ad_1]

Thane: Thane Guardian Minister Shambhuraj Desai on Wednesday challenged Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut to resign from Rajya Sabha and get re-elected, claiming that the legislators of the undivided Sena had voted for him then.

Desai was talking to the media here after attending a district planning committee meeting here.

His comments come amid a bitter exchange between the Sena’s two factions after ex-minister Aadtiya Thackeray dared Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to contest against him from Worli in Mumbai.

Desai said all Sena MLAs had followed party chief Uddhav Thackeray’s diktat to back Raut, now a fierce critic of the Shinde faction.

“He had given us specific instructions on the voting for the MP elections which we meticulously followed. Let him (Raut) resign now and win the elections to the Rajya Sabha,” said Desai.

The Sena split after a rebellion by Shinde, who joined hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party to become the CM. He now leads the Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena (BSS), while Uddhav Thackeray is the head of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray).

The BSS on Tuesday termed as “childish” Aaditya Thackeray’s comments challenging Shinde to contest from the Worli assembly seat.

On the tussle between the groups over the Sena’s name and symbol (bow and arrow), Desai, who belongs to BSS, said they will abide by the Election Commission’s decision.

Desai said he will meet the CM and try to get more funds for the Thane district. They have sought Rs 850 crore for the district in fiscal 2023-24, he said.

Model schools, which are a success in Sangli and Satara districts, will be replicated in Thane as well, he said.

Modular operation theatres will be set up in 10 government hospitals in the district, said the guardian minister.

  • Rahul Gandhi capable to be India’s PM: Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut

Rahul Gandhi capable to be India’s PM: Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut

    [ad_1]

Jammu: Shiv Sen (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Saturday said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi leading the Bharat Jodo Yatra is capable to be the prime minister of India and no third front will be successful sans the grand old party.

He said the purpose of Gandhi’s Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir is to remove the hatred and fear and not to unite the opposition parties under the banner of his party.

“Ideological and political differences apart, he (Gandhi) will show his leadership qualities and will be a big challenge (for the ruling BJP in 2024 general elections). He will make a miracle,” the Member of Parliament told reporters here.

Raut, who walked for nearly 13-km alongside Gandhi between Hatli Morh and Chandwal amid rain on Friday, said the BJP has spread a wrong notion about the Congress leader but this Yatra has busted all their myths about him.

“Why not?” he said when asked whether Gandhi is capable of becoming the prime minister of India.

“Not everyone can walk from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, covering a distance of over 3,500 kms. It needs a lot of determination and love for the country. He has shown his concern for the country and I do not see any politics in this Yatra,” the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader said.

However, he said Gandhi himself has been saying that he is not willing to be the prime minister but “when people want to see him on the top post, he will be left with no choice”.

Rejecting the idea of a third front without the Congress, Raut said the grand old party has a lot of weight and has presence in every nook and corner of the country. “No third front can be successful without Congress, this time it has a low number of MPs but the situation is going to change in 2024. Without the Congress, no front can be successful is a reality and this needs to be taken into account.”

“The main purpose of my visit to J and K was to join the Gandhi-led Yatra at the direction of my leader and I had a good experience walking alongside Gandhi. It is not a political Yatra,” he said.

Raut, who reached here on January 19 and also visited protesting Kashmiri Pandit and Dogra employees seeking relocation from Kashmir over the past six months following the targeted killings, said he was surprised to find out that J-K is faced with the same issues which were discussed by him over a decade ago.

“Governments changed and so the politics but whether it is an issue of Kashmiri Pandits, refugees, law and order situation, security concerns of the people and terrorism, the questions are still same,” he said, slamming the BJP for its “failure to turn Kashmir back into paradise” over the past eight years.

He said four years have passed but there is no assembly election even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government promised large scale investment, creation of jobs for unemployed and return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits.

About the party’s strategy for the next assembly elections whenever held in J-K, Raut said his party is open to a grand alliance provided it gets a respectable place. “Otherwise, we will go for polls alone as J-K is full of public issues which have remained unresolved for years.”

He said the BJP under Modi is a big party but “If you see barring a few states, it is dependent on other parties or divided its own coalition partners to stay in power.”
