Rajasthan police release pictures of 8 accused in Bhiwani killings

    [ad_1]

Jaipur: Rajasthan police have released pictures of eight out of nine accused reportedly involved in the killing of two men from Rajasthan whose charred bodies were found inside a burnt vehicle in Haryana’s Bhiwani district on February 16.

The police so far have arrested one accused Rinku Saini, while eight accused are still absconding. The Mahindra Scorpio vehicle used in the incident has also been recovered from a cow shelter in Haryana’s Jind.

The police said that Saini was arrested under the case registered at Gopalgarh police station of Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district.

Saini, during interrogation, gave certain clues on the basis of which, eight accused have been identified and raids were conducted in many districts of Haryana to nab the absconding accused.

According to the police, accused Anil and Shrikant are residents of Nuh, while Kalu Kaithal, Monu Rana, Vikas Jind, Shashikant Karnal and Gogi are from Bhiwani.

The raids are being conducted by three teams of Rajasthan police in collaboration with the Haryana police.

Several important clues have come out of the interrogation of accused Saini, officials asserted, adding that the police conducted raids in Haryana’s Jind on the basis of these clues and recovered the vehicle from a cow shed.

This was reportedly the same vehicle in which victims – Junaid (35) and Nasir (28) – were taken to Bhiwani after being beaten up. According to the police, traces of blood have also been found on the seat of the vehicle.

Officials said that samples of both the skeletons found in the Bolero vehicle and blood traces on the recovered Scorpio vehicle have been collected. Further actions will be taken once the report from the collected samples comes.

Interestingly, the name of Monu Manesar, about whom there has been maximum uproar since last one week, has not emerged in the initial investigation by Rajasthan Police.

Even, the eight pictures released by the Rajasthan police do not comprise the picture of Monu Manesar.

The deceased Junaid and Nasir were residents of Ghatmika village of Rajasthan’s Bharpur district. The village is near the Haryana border.

Junaid’s cousin Ismail had lodged a case of kidnapping and assault of both at Gopalgarh police station (Bharatpur) on February 15. On the next day, the charred bodies of both Junaid and Nasir were found in a Bolero vehicle in Loharu town of Bhiwani district in Haryana.

Woman dies in Rajasthan hospital, kin assault medical staff

    [ad_1]

Kota:The kin of a 40-year-old woman allegedly thrashed on-duty medical staff and damaged government property after she died during treatment at the district hospital in Rajasthan’s Bundi, officials said on Sunday.

Mumtaj, a resident of the city’s Mahaveer Colony, was admitted to the hospital’s medical ward late on Saturday. She died within an hour.

Claiming that the doctors and medical staff administered the wrong injection, her family members allegedly assaulted and misbehaved with on-duty doctors and nursing staff and damaged hospital property on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sohanlal Choudhary and Additional Superintendent of Police Kishori Lal rushed to the spot and a police force was called in to control the situation.

Following the alleged assault, the doctors at the hospital briefly boycotted work. A delegation also submitted a memorandum to the sub-divisional magistrate and demanded security deployment at the hospital.

They returned to work at 4 am on Sunday.

The woman’s body was handed over to her family members after a post-mortem during the night, Choudhary said.

He also assured the doctors that adequate home guards would be deployed till the hospital management makes arrangements.

At least seven people have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Rajasthan Medical Protection Act. One person has been arrested in this connection, the police said.

The other accused will be arrested soon as the woman’s last rites were performed on Sunday, Ramesh Chanda, an officer at Bundi city police station, said.

AIMIM leaders visiting every constituency in Rajasthan: Owaisi

    [ad_1]

Jaipur: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi, who has been trying to strengthen his party’s base in poll-bound Rajasthan, on Sunday said party leaders are visiting every assembly constituency in the state to strengthen the organisation.

Owaisi, who is on a two-day visit to Rajasthan, also said that it is too early to announce the number of seats his party will contest in the assembly polls.

Assembly elections in Rajasthan are due later this year.

“We have come to Rajasthan to strengthen our party ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections. My visit was pre-scheduled. Core committee members are visiting every assembly constituency to strengthen the organisation,” the Hyderabad MP told reporters in Tonk.

“Core committee will announce on how many seats the party will contest in the elections. It is too early to comment,” he said.

When asked whether his party has any big face to contest against Congress’ Sachin Pilot, the AIMIM chief said, “There are several faces. When he can land through parachute, then we can also.”

Speaking about the deaths of Junaid and Nasir who were allegedly abducted by cow vigilantes from Bharatpur and their charred bodies were found in Haryana, Owaisi said, “Both Haryana and Rajasthan governments are not serious. Haryana government is saving the accused. If Rajasthan government is serious, then it should send police and arrest the accused.”

Rajasthan govt committed to overall development of tribal regions, says CM Gehlot

    [ad_1]

Jaipur: The Rajasthan government is committed to the overall development of tribal regions and the state Budget includes “many important gifts” for the area’s overall development, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Saturday.

The chief minister was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Government Community Health Centre at Dhariyavad assembly segment in Pratapgarh district where he inaugurated projects worth Rs 11.74 crore. He also laid the foundation stone of 10 projects worth Rs 59.68 crore.

“The state government has not kept any shortfall in the Budget for the welfare of the tribals.

“The state government has given a major share in the Budget to the Mewar region under the irrigation sector as there is a strong potential for irrigation projects here,” Gehlot was quoted as saying in a statement.

Gehlot presented the 2023-24 Budget at the Legislative Assembly on February 10.

During his address, Gehlot announced that the state government would also open medical colleges in Pratapgarh, Rajsamand and Jalore districts.

Claiming that Rajasthan has emerged as a model state, the chief minister said, “The state government is effectively implementing the schemes up to the grassroots level. In the Budget 2023-24, the amount of Chief Minister Chiranjeevi Health Insurance has been increased from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.

“Along with this, the insurance amount has also been increased from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh under the Chief Minister Chiranjeevi Accidental Insurance Scheme.”

He added, “In order to give relief to the common man from inflation, now 1 crore NFSA (National Food Security Act) consumers would be given free ration and free Annapurna food packets every month… 100 units per month free electricity will be made available to domestic consumers.”

The chief minister said the Old Pension Scheme, re-implemented in Rajasthan from a humanitarian point of view, would secure the futures of government employees.

He also appealed to the Centre to re-implement the Old Pension Scheme in the interest of its employees.

Water Resources Development Minister Mahendrajit Singh Malviya and Cooperative Minister Uday Lal Anjana were present at the ceremony.

Men found charred in car: Owaisi targets Congress govt in Rajasthan, BJP

    [ad_1]

Jaipur: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday alleged that “delay” by the Rajasthan government in acting on the missing complaint lodged by the family of two men in the Bharatpur case allowed the accused to flee the state.

Charred bodies of Junaid (35) and Nasir (25) were found in a car in Haryana after the two men from Bharatpur district of Rajasthan were allegedly abducted by cow vigilantes.

Owaisi also alleged that such incidents occur because “BJP supports and shelters such organisations due to which police do not take immediate action against them”.

The Rajasthan Police had on Friday arrested one of the five persons named in the FIR lodged by family members at Gopalgarh police station.

“Had the Rajasthan government taken immediate action on the missing complaint related to Junaid and Nasir, then they (abductors) would have not been able to cross the Rajasthan border,” Owaisi who is on a two-day tour of the state told reporters in Alwar district.

He said it was a painful incident.

“If the BJP keeps sheltering such radicals then it is not right for the country.”These incidents occur, only and only, because the BJP helps such organisation, gives them strength and shelters them due to which police and administration do not take immediate action,” Owaisi alleged.

He said that it is not a matter of Muslims, but of all those people who believe in rule of law and the Constitution.

“Nobody has the right to take the law into their hands otherwise there will be the need of police, administration and courts,” he said.

Junaid had a criminal record of cattle smuggling and five cases were registered against him at different police stations, a police officer said.

The last rites of the two, who were related to each other, were conducted on Friday after authorities announced a financial aid of Rs 20.5 lakh to each of the affected families.

Rajasthan’s Minister of State for Education Zahida Khan had met the affected family members.

The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Friday demanded a CBI probe into the matter and alleged that the Bajrang Dal’s name was being dragged into the case due to “political bias”.

Bajrang Dal is the youth wing of the VHP.

On the victims’ families alleging the Bajrang Dal’s role in the killings, the Rajasthan BJP said it is not justified to malign an organisation before the investigation is completed.

“Whether the accused have links with the Bajrang Dal or are cow vigilantes, it is a matter of investigation. It is not justified to malign any organisation. It will be better if the police take action against those who are guilty,” state BJP spokesperson Ramlal Sharma told reporters on Friday.

  • Centre committed to ensuring regular supply of water in 13 Rajasthan districts: PM Modi

Centre committed to ensuring regular supply of water in 13 Rajasthan districts: PM Modi

    [ad_1]

Dausa: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the Centre is committed to ensuring a regular supply of water for drinking and irrigation purposes in the 13 districts of eastern Rajasthan.

He said a draft plan for a major project, combining the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) and the old Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal link, has been shared by the Centre with the governments of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

“The draft has been included in the list of priority-based projects by the special committee on rivers. The Centre will definitely think of advancing it when the governments of both the states agree on it,” Modi said at a public rally organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rajasthan’s Dausa district.

Earlier, at another programme held a few kilometres away, where Modi inaugurated the first phase of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot reminded the prime minister that he had promised to accord priority to the ERCP at his election rallies in the past.

Addressing the gathering through a video link from the chief minister’s residence in Jaipur, Gehlot said during his election rallies in Jaipur and Ajmer in the past, Modi had said a decision would be taken on giving priority to the project. “It is expected that you will say something on the ERCP,” the Congress leader said.

Modi said the people of Rajasthan have showered a lot of affection on the BJP but their progress would have been fast if there was a “double-engine” government in the state.

He asserted that solving the problem of drinking water in Rajasthan is the priority of the BJP-led government at the Centre.

The prime minister said the work on the Ken-Betwa river-linking project between Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh is about to start and similarly, the Centre is also committed to ensuring a regular supply of water for drinking and irrigation purposes in the 13 districts of eastern Rajasthan.

The ruling Congress in Rajasthan has been demanding that the Centre accord the status of a national project to the ERCP, which was conceptualised by the previous BJP government in the state led by Vasundhara Raje.

Dausa is one of the 13 districts covered under the project.

In his address, Gehlot also raised other demands related to infrastructure development in the state.

He said it was agreed in principle that 50 roads in Rajasthan will be converted into national highways, but a gazette notification to that effect is yet to be issued. The chief minister also said the detailed project report (DPR) of an elevated road in Jodhpur has been prepared and the project needs to be taken up further.

He said it is expected that the pending proposals of the state government will be cleared by the Centre.

Gehlot also highlighted the efforts of his government towards road and infrastructure development. He said 54,000 kilometres of roads have been laid in the state in the last four years and the work for an additional 46,000 kilometres is on.

Besides, a budgetary provision of Rs 20,000 crore has been made for infrastructure development, Gehlot added.

He said as a result of these efforts, investment is increasing in Rajasthan and his government is developing industrial areas at the block level.

The chief minister also pointed out that according to a survey conducted by the Centre, Rajasthan ranks second in the country in terms of growth rate.

Recalling the contributions of former prime ministers Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Manmohan Singh as regards highway construction and infrastructure development, Gehlot also lauded Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari for the initiatives taken by him in this sector.

Later in the day, Gehlot also took to Twitter to highlight the issue of ECRP.

“Honourable Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, you missed a good opportunity today. The people of the state would have welcomed you had you fulfilled the assurance made before the last Assembly polls that the status of a national project would be given to the ERCP.

“Availability of water for drinking and irrigation purposes is very important for 13 districts in Rajasthan. The state government is taking forward the work related to the ERCP with its own resources. The prime minister should declare it a national project so that the work gets momentum and people get water,” he said in a series of tweets in Hindi.

Former Rajasthan deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot also tweeted on the issue.

“The prime minister came to Rajasthan for the second time in 15 days, but no step was taken even today towards giving the status of a national project to the ERCP. The project is a lifeline for 13 districts and a question of prosperity for lakhs of people. It is not right to refrain from giving it the status of a national project,” Pilot wrote on Twitter.

The Assembly polls in Rajasthan are due later in the year.

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday said that they have made the third arrest in connection with the Rajasthan PFI case.

“Sohail, alongwith PFI cadres, had conspired to radicalise Muslim youth to commit violent and unlawful activities,” the official said.

Earlier, the NIA had arrested two accused – Sadiq Sarraf and Mohammed Asif in the case, registered on September 19 last year.
