Hyderabad braces for rainfall today as IMD issues yellow alert

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has issued a yellow alert for the entire state of Telangana, including Hyderabad, as heavy rainfall is expected to lash many parts of the state today.

All six zones in Hyderabad, including Charminar, Khairatabad, Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Secunderabad, and Serilingampally, are likely to experience a generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers, and at times intense spells accompanied by gusty winds (40-50 kmph).

The yellow alert issued by IMD Hyderabad will remain valid till May 6, 2023. The forecast suggests that light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers are very likely to occur at many places over Telangana, with thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, hailstorms, heavy rain, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) expected to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, and Mahabubnagar districts of Telangana.

    MS Education Academy

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining districts of Telangana.

    Hyderabad receives heavy rainfall yesterday

Yesterday, Hyderabad received massive rainfall, with Bandlaguda receiving the highest rainfall of 29.3 mm. Other areas that received heavy rainfall in Hyderabad are Bahadurpura, Charminar, and Saidabad.

Many areas in Hyderabad witnessed heavy traffic due to heavy rainfall. Some areas in the city also witnessed power outages.

Due to the forecast of heavy rainfall, the maximum temperature in the city is likely to remain below 36 degrees Celsius till May 5, 2023.

Power cut, heavy traffic during rainfall

While the rainfall brings much-needed relief from the scorching summer heat, it also poses challenges for the residents of Hyderabad. The electrical infrastructure in the city is not always able to handle heavy rainfall, and outages take place, disrupting daily life.

The roads in Hyderabad also witness clogging with vehicles due to rainfall, making it challenging for commuters to travel.

In view of the forecast made by IMD Hyderabad, residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions.

Hyderabad to witness intense rainfall, hailstorm today; IMD issues orange alert

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has issued an orange alert for Hyderabad and other districts of Telangana due to intense rainfall and hailstorm expected on April 27, 2023. After a day’s break, the city is expected to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds and hailstorms towards the evening or night.

According to the IMD Hyderabad, all six zones in Hyderabad, namely Charminar, Khairatabad, Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Secunderabad, and Serilingampally, are likely to experience a generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers.

Neighbouring districts of Hyderabad to witness heavy rainfall, hailstorm

Apart from Hyderabad, other districts of Telangana, including Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityal, Rajanna Sirsilla, Karimnagar, Siddipet, Rangareddy, Medchal Malkajigiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, and Mahabubnagar, are also expected to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, hailstorm, and gusty winds with heavy rainfall.

    MS Education Academy

The Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) has also forecasted light to moderate rainfall in the city today.

However, there will not be a significant difference in temperature in Hyderabad, with the maximum temperature expected to be in the range of 36-40 degrees Celsius.

Power cut, heavy traffic during rainfall

Though rainfall in Hyderabad brings respite from the summer heat, it also possesses a lot of challenges, especially when it comes to power cuts and heavy traffic.

As electrical infrastructure in the city is not always able to handle the heavy rainfall, outages take place that can last for hours.

Another problem that arises during rainfall in Hyderabad is heavy traffic. The city’s roads are often clogged with vehicles, and the situation worsens when it rains. The traffic snarls can cause long delays, making it difficult for people to reach their destinations on time.

In view of the forecast made by both IMD Hyderabad and TSDPS, residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions to avoid any unforeseen situations. It is recommended to avoid traveling during the heavy downpour and stay indoors if possible.

Eid Sales Plunge 50% Amid Record Rainfall, Traders Say

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: Rains drenched valley plains for the third day in a row on Thursday, with traders expressing disappointment over a “50 percent” dip in sales, ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Mohammad Yaseen Khan, a senior trade leader and chairman of Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) – an amalgam of various trade bodies said that the markets were struggling for quite some time now to gain sales momentum, but the rains ahead of Eid festival played a spoilsport.

“It is just not like that our sales dipped due to rains only; we have been struggling for multiple reasons,” Khan said. “However, we were hopeful of picking up good sales ahead of Eid, but the continuous rainfall adversely impacted our sales.”

KEA chairman said that ahead of the Eid festival, people mostly buy bakery and mutton products for which rains can hardly hamper people from coming out, but in other areas of the market, it made an effect. “The overall impact it made on sales is around 50 percent,” he added.

“Clothing, footwear, communication, and other items which used to witness good sales on Eid witnessed sluggish sales due to rains,” he said.

Mehraj-ud-Din Ahmad, general secretary of All Kashmir Wholesale Mutton Dealers Association said that although the rains did not make any negative impact on their sales, the brief closure of the Srinagar-Jammu national highway impacted the supply of stock.

“On festivals, be it any situation, people come out to buy mutton,” he said, adding, “Rains did not make any such impact on their sales; however, a brief closure of the highway hampered the supply, and the stock which was scheduled for the day came another day.”

Bashir Ahmad, who owns a prominent telecommunication showroom in Srinagar, said they were already struggling to stay afloat in the market but that the incessant rainfall for the last few days dampened the market spirit.

“Rains prevented people from coming out and when there are fewer people in the market, there are fewer sales. Rains played a spoilsport. We were expecting good sales. It is just a helpless situation for us,” he rued.

Hyderabad wakes up to cloudy sky, lighting with heavy rainfall likely

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The residents of Hyderabad woke up to a cloudy sky and lighting on Friday, with heavy rainfall predicted for the day. Some parts of the city experienced rainfall in the early morning, with dark clouds hovering over most areas.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has issued a yellow alert for the state for Friday and Saturday, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls.

Hyderabad likely to see rainfall or thunderstorms

According to the weather department, all six zones in Hyderabad – Charminar, Khairatabad, Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Secunderabad, and Serilingampally – are expected to have partly cloudy sky till April 17. Light rain or thundershowers towards the evening or night are also expected.

    MS Education Academy

Despite the rainfall, the maximum temperature in Hyderabad is forecasted to remain between 36 and 40 degrees Celsius until April 16. It is likely to increase to 41 degrees on April 17 and up to 45 degrees in the following days.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and plan their travel accordingly in view of the rainfall forecast made by IMD Hyderabad.

IMD predicts normal rainfall during southwest monsoon

On Tuesday, the IMD predicted normal rainfall in Hyderabad and other parts of the country during the southwest monsoon season despite the evolving El Nino conditions. The El Nino is the warming of the waters in the Pacific Ocean near South America. It is generally associated with the weakening of monsoon winds and dry weather in India.

The El Nino conditions this year follow three consecutive La Nina years. In La Nina, good rainfall occurs during the monsoon season.

Normal rainfall is critical for India’s agricultural landscape, with 52 percent of the net cultivated area relying on it. It is also crucial for the replenishing of reservoirs critical for drinking water, apart from power generation across the country.
