Mumbai: Popular singer Arijit Singh, recently got injured during a live concert in Aurangabad after a fan pulled his hand while he was on stage.

Several videos of the concert went viral on social media in which the singer could be seen schooling his fan with patience.

In the viral video, Arijit could be seen saying, “If I am not able to perform, you are not able to have fun. It’s as simple as that. You’re pulling me like that. My hand is shaking. Should I leave?”

    MS Education Academy

The crowd yelled “no,” while the woman apologized to Arijit Singh many times for accidentally hurting him.

Arijit continued, “You have to understand. You are a grown-up, right? You are a mature person, right? Why did you pull me like that? My hand is shaking right now. I can’t move my hand.”

The woman who pulled his hand could be heard saying that since he was coming to the front, she just took his hand. The singer replied, “Obviously I’ll come in front of everybody na. I love everybody here. I will go to everybody.”

Several other videos surfaced on social media in which Arijit could be seen teaching his fan.

Soon after the videos surfaced on social media, fans swamped the comment section with red heart emoticons and praised him for how he handled the situation.

Arijit is known for his amazing songs like ‘Tum Hi Ho’, ‘Channa Mereya’, ‘Pyaar Hota Kayi Baar Hai’, ‘Jhoome Jo Pathaan’, ‘Kesariya’ and many more.

Court pulls up CBI for slow progress in probe into alleged recruitment scam

    [ad_1]

Kolkata: The judge of a special CBI court here on Saturday set a 21-day deadline for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to show the progress it made in its probe into the alleged multi-crore recruitment scam in West Bengal.

The judge was especially critical of the CBI for not arresting the government employees named as beneficiaries in the alleged recruitment scam yet.

“Barring two cases, the progress of the probe in the other related cases is extremely demoralising. Is this a civil matter? How long will you be able to keep the accused behind bars in the name of investigation process? Take some concrete steps,” the judge told the CBI counsel.

    MS Education Academy

When the CBI counsel said that there is evidence of involvement of government officials in the alleged scan, the judge asked why the central agency is yet to question them after taking them into custody.

“You are yet to reveal who received money from the accused persons such as Kuntal Ghosh and Tapas Mondal. A scam of such a nature could not have been possible without the involvement of government officials. Please complete the circle. Show your progress in the investigation in the next 21 days,” the judge told the CBI counsel.

  • Sweet Tooth season two review – this fantasy drama pulls off a miracle

Sweet Tooth season two review – this fantasy drama pulls off a miracle

    [ad_1]

So, there are a bunch of kids imprisoned in a cell, planning their escape. First, they need a scheme to get hold of the keys. What tools do they have at their disposal? The floor is earth, so it’s obvious: the child who’s half-chipmunk should burrow out. The kid with the lion’s mane, the girl with the pig’s nose and the little guy who has the full face and trunk of an elephant all agree. The chipmunk boy starts chewing the ground.

Welcome back to the singular world of Sweet Tooth, the pandemic dystopia drama the whole family can enjoy. If you missed season one: the world has been devastated by the Sick, a virus which sprung up and rapidly spread right at the same moment when babies started being born with animal features. In the absence of any other explanation, these “hybrids” are seen as dangerous vermin, routinely incarcerated or just killed by fearful humans. Previously we have been following Gus (Christian Convery), a 10-year-old boy with the ears, antlers and senses of a deer, as he crossed a ravaged America – at first he was looking for his mother, but he’s recently discovered that no such person exists. He is a scientific experiment, made in a lab, and he might be the key to the story of the hybrids and/or the hunt for a cure for the Sick. But he needs to break out of jail first.

Season two feels, in its early episodes, like more of a kids’ show than ever, albeit with plenty of sly nods to the parents to keep them interested. Imprisonment means Gus has become separated from Tommy “Big Man” Jepperd (Nonso Anozie), his adopted father figure and physical protector. “He’d tell me to grow a pair,” Gus tells the girl with the pig’s nose as he muses on what his pal would say if they were still together. A pair of what, she asks? “I don’t know. He never said.”

When the adults do appear, we are reminded that this is a series for older kids only: any viewer younger than Gus would find the violence of the post-Sick world too scary. Those hybrids are locked up because oddball mercenary General Abbot (Neil Sandilands), an arresting Gaiman-esque visual creation with his bald head, huge grey beard and red-tinted John Lennon specs, wants to experiment on them to help him find a cure. Any tiny inmate hauled off by the guards is unlikely to come back, unless it’s in the form of a hoof or claw worn around one of the bad guys’ necks. Not that Abbot does the evil science himself, since another of his captives is Sick expert Dr Aditya Singh. The second season gains a sense of greater import from bringing together what were, in the first run, disparate storylines: Singh, previously the isolated star of a subplot kept interesting by him being played so brilliantly by Adeel Akhtar, now meets Gus, giving them – and us – intriguing new info.

Big Man, meanwhile, has teamed up with Aimee (Dania Ramirez), formerly the manager of a haven for hybrids that Abbot has now retooled as a prison. Their pairing, one of them motivated by loss to save the kids and the other by guilt, is not the only bit of heavy character drama skilfully woven into the grand adventure. When we get to know Johnny (Marlon Williams), Abbot’s ineffectual younger brother, the psychodrama that develops about contrasting siblings bonded by trauma is certainly one for the grownups.

Aimee and Big Man’s temporary exile in the ordinary outside world brings them into contact with crowds of people who, to Aimee’s bewildered disgust, seem blase about a killer virus that is still very much on the loose. This tilt at the reality into which Sweet Tooth has arrived is a companion to the season one scene that furiously took the mickey out of anti-vaxxers, but the show generally is too confident in its own world to function as an allegory.

The miracle Sweet Tooth performs is in keeping everyone happy. It’s a brutal post-apocalyptic drama that successfully harnesses the cute innocence of children, but is also a fantasy series grounded in the harshest of truths about what adults can do when times are tough, so it never falls into the trap of making the viewer feel as if nothing is real and nothing really matters. Season two builds skilfully to a showdown with several bravely uncompromising payoffs, delivered in a way that its younger viewers can easily appreciate, not least because it tends to be grownups who meet their fate. Sweet Tooth knows that kids – with or without horns, paws or tails – are not to be underestimated.

  • White House pulls its punches over GOP judicial nomination blockade

White House pulls its punches over GOP judicial nomination blockade

    [ad_1]

Jean-Pierre’s reluctance to enter the fray of the debate around blue slips is just the latest illustration of Biden’s own deference to Senate procedure. But it comes amid growing agitation among Democrats over the White House’s hands-off approach.

There are currently nearly 40 judicial vacancies that Biden could seek to fill in courts in red states. But the blue slip custom generally dictates that if a home-state senator doesn’t return the blue slip, the majority party halts the nomination.

Republicans moved 17 Trump administration circuit court judges without Democrats’ blue slips, according to Demand Justice, a liberal advocacy group. That was a change from prior practice and now progressives want Democrats to do the same with trial court-level judges.

But Biden has not joined that chorus. Nor has Senate Judiciary Chair Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), who remains noncommittal about moving the Colom nomination in light of Hyde-Smith’s refusal to return a blue slip.

Durbin “is extremely disappointed in Sen. Hyde-Smith’s lack of communication and ultimate obstruction of a highly-qualified nominee,” said his spokesperson, Emily Hampsten. “In the coming days, he’ll be assessing and will respond more fully.”

Durbin previously said he would abide by the blue slip custom unless they were used to block candidates because of their race, gender or sexual orientation. Colom is Black. Mississippi’s other Republican senator, Roger Wicker, returned his blue slip on Colom.

So far, Senate Democrats are generally deferring to Durbin on whether to ignore the blue slip. They are balancing reluctance to further erode Senate norms — including one that Biden as a former Judiciary chair is intimately familiar with — alongside growing frustration with Republican stonewalling. But in certain Democratic quarters on the Hill, there is a growing appetite to see Durbin do away with the custom and a belief that if Biden publicly embraced reform the Illinois Democrat would follow.

While Colom’s nomination is one of the first to be blocked by a blue slip in the Biden administration, it is not the only one. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) refused to return a blue slip on district court nominee William Pocan, brother of Rep. Mark Pocan. With Republicans in control of the House, much of Biden’s focus will likely move toward getting nominees through the Democratic-run Senate. And with a growing portion of the judicial vacancies coming in red states, the blue slip issue is likely to grow more prominent.

There are 66 district court vacancies and nearly 40 of them are in states with a GOP senator who could try to block it, according to a tally kept by Demand Justice.

Demand Justice has been calling on Democrats to play hard ball on the nominations, arguing that the “Biden rule” allows them to ignore blue slips. That “rule” is a reference to the policy Biden used when he was Judiciary Committee chair himself following the election of George H.W. Bush. Back then, blue slips were a “significant factor” for the committee but didn’t serve as a de facto veto measure.

“Blue slips have not always been a unilateral veto on judicial nominees, and Chair Durbin should not allow Republicans to wield them in bad faith today,” said Demand Justice Chief Counsel Christopher Kang. “Instead, he should follow Biden’s policy when he was Judiciary chair.

But there is also some public history — including from not too long ago — of top Democrats insisting that blue slips be respected. Then-Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) urged the Trump administration to abide by them when the former president was pushing nominees to the Ninth Circuit.

But progressives argue that Republicans themselves have abandoned deference to these customs and it would be foolish for Democrats to not do the same.

“If Durbin does not grant Colom a hearing, he would be abetting Republican obstruction instead of choosing the Biden rule,” Kang said.

  • Parl panel pulls up govt over lack of basic amenities in Anganwadi centres

Parl panel pulls up govt over lack of basic amenities in Anganwadi centres

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: A key financial panel of the Parliament has pulled up the government for paying poor remuneration to Anganwadi workers and helpers, asking it to revise their wages in a manner which is commensurate with their work.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC), a key financial panel of Lok Sabha, has also directed the government to provide facilities like drinking water and toilets in Anganwadis in a time-bound manner.

In its report, presented to the Parliament on Wednesday, the Ministry for Women and Child Development has been asked to revise and increase the remuneration of Anganwadi workers and helpers appropriately.

    MS Education Academy

It expressed dismay over the fact that despite earlier reminders about salaries of Anganwadi workers and helpers being low and unattractive, the ministry had not done much about it.

The committee noted that there are large number of vacancies in the posts of Anganwadi workers and helpers on account of meagre wages being paid to them.

“The critical role played by these Anganwadi workers and helpers during the Covid period cannot be ignored as they were tasked with distributing rations along with carrying out their main responsibilities pertaining to primary health care and immunisation, supplementary nutrition, educating families about family planning measures etc. The committee, therefore feels that it is high time that the Anganwadi workers get due recognition for the selfless and continuous services they have been providing,” it noted in its observations.

In this context, the panel, which is headed by Congress’ Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, has asked the government to revise their wages in such a manner that the benefits and salaries being paid to them should be commensurate with the work that they have been performing and for this, the ministry should seek necessary budgetary support also.

The panel further noted that as many Anganwadi centres are functioning from temporary structures and semi-pucca premises, which may not have toilets or drinking water facilities, the ministry should moot a proposal for providing mobile toilets in states where the Anganwadi centres don’t have them.
