  • BJP leaders to beat themselves as a part of Muslim outreach programme

BJP leaders to beat themselves as a part of Muslim outreach programme

    [ad_1]

BJP to kickstart Muslim outreach programme across India next month. As a part of the programme, the Bhartiya Janta Party has identified key areas of improvement of sentiments about BJP among Muslims. Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the party to make an outreach to “deprived and downtrodden” sections in all communities. PM Modi also asked the party leader to perform activities that makes the community feel better.

Reportedly, in order to appease the minority community, the BJP leaders are going to beat themselves up. Speaking to The Fauxy, a BJP leader said “The community is very much against the party and they wish harm on the party leaders, hence, if we harm ourselves, the community people will be happy to see that“.

Another BJP leader said “If we beat ourselves they will feel that we are one of us as it is one of their essential religious practices“.

Sources suggest that the Modi led government is deliberately delaying the CAA and NRC process to appease the Muslim community ahead of 2024 General Elections.

  • Blinken meets Wang Yi in Munich, says Chinese balloon programme ‘exposed’ to world

Blinken meets Wang Yi in Munich, says Chinese balloon programme ‘exposed’ to world

    [ad_1]

Washington: Amidst strained ties over an alleged Chinese spy balloon, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Saturday met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi and raised “the unacceptable” violation of American sovereignty and warned that Beijing’s material support to Moscow over Ukrainian war would attract sanctions.

The meeting on Saturday between the two top American and Chinese diplomats took place on the margins of the Munich Security Conference.

“The Secretary directly spoke to the unacceptable violation of US sovereignty and international law by the PRC high-altitude surveillance balloon in US territorial airspace, underscoring that this irresponsible act must never occur again,” State Department Spokesperson Ned Price said.

“During the meeting, Blinken made clear the United States will not stand for any violation of our sovereignty, and that the Chinese high-altitude surveillance balloon programme which has intruded into the airspace of more than 40 countries across five continents has been exposed to the world,” he said.

Blinken also raised the Russia-Ukraine war during the meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

“On Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine, the Secretary warned about the implications and consequences if China provides material support to Russia or assistance with systemic sanctions evasion,” Price said.

Blinken condemned the ICBM test by North Korea as the latest destabilizing act carried out by Pyongyang, and emphasized the need for responsible powers to respond to such significant international challenges.

During the meeting, Blinken reaffirmed there had been no change to the longstanding ‘One China’ policy of the US, and he underscored the importance of maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, the spokesperson said.

“The Secretary reiterated President Biden’s statements that the United States will compete and will unapologetically stand up for our values and interests, but that we do not want conflict with the PRC (People’s Republic of China) and are not looking for a new Cold War,” Price said.

Blinken underscored the importance of maintaining diplomatic dialogue and open lines of communication at all times, he said.

  • Why is the Prevent counter-terrorism programme review so controversial? – podcast

    [ad_1]

Since its inception two decades ago, Prevent, part of the UK government’s counter-terrorism strategy, has attracted controversy. Its aim is to ensure that those at risk of radicalisation can be stopped and turned away from extremist ideologies, reducing terrorist attacks.

For many years there have been criticisms that Prevent has impinged on civil liberties, and has discriminated against Muslims. And, the Guardian’s crime correspondent, Vikram Dodd, tells Nosheen Iqbal, with increasing numbers of referrals to Prevent concerning the far right, there have been growing criticisms it has lost its way.

Now an independent review has been published, offering recommendations that the government says it will accept in full to overhaul the programme. But with the review itself mired in controversy after human rights and community groups boycotted it, will it make Britain safer?

  • Mallikarjun Kharge to launch Congress’ mass outreach programme in J’khand on Saturday

Mallikarjun Kharge to launch Congress’ mass outreach programme in J’khand on Saturday

    [ad_1]

Ranchi: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will visit Jharkhand on Saturday and launch the state unit’s Haath Se Haath Jodo’ mass outreach programme, a party leader said on Friday.

He will roll out the 60-day Haath Se Haath Jodo’ (Join Hands Together) campaign from the Gumani Ground in Pakur assembly constituency in Sahebganj district, around 400 km from state capital Ranchi.

Party workers will conduct a door-to-door visit during the campaign, which will “expose the BJP-led central government’s anti-people policies”, Jharkhand Congress chief Rajesh Thakur told PTI.

The programme will kick start from the Santhal region, comprising Sahebganj, Pakur, Dumka and Deoghar, among other districts, he said.

The region holds significance for both the UPA and NDA ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha and assembly elections.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah had visited Deoghar on February 4 and addressed the BJP’s Vijay Sankalp’ rally, where he asserted that the saffron party will win all 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state in next year’s elections.
