    Hyderabad: Well known socialite and casino organiser Chikkoti Praveen, who was held in Thailand during a raid on an alleged illegal casino at a hotel in Chon Buri province of the country, said that he was ‘misinformed’ about the event.

    “The organizers told me that it was a Poker tournament and international players were participating in the event. Within 15 minutes after we stepped inside the premises, the police raided the place,” Chikkoti Praveen told news reporters in Thailand where he was produced before the court along with other persons held in the case.

    The Thailand police had caught 93 people – 83 Indians, six Thais and four Myanmar nationals. They seized four baccarat tables, three blackjack tables, 25 sets of cards, 209,215,000 chips, 160,000 Indian rupees, eight closed-circuit television cameras, 92 mobile phones, three notebook computers, one iPad and three card dealer machines during the raid. A logbook in which gambling credits were recorded, showing about ‘1,000 million rupee’ worth of credits in circulation, wewas also seized.

    Some of the accused claimed that they were told by the organizers of the trip that gambling is legal in Thailand. “I know casinos are illegal in Thailand. In the invite extended to us, we were told it is poker tournament. Fee for participating in the event was paid by us for the event. The court let me off with a fine,” said Chikkoti Praveen.

    The local media reported that more than 500 million Rupees, or about 200 million Baht, was gambled each day and the activities were ‘live streamed’ to India. “A Thai organizer of the gambling trip, “Sitranan”, reportedly admitted that she rented the hotel’s conference hall at a rate of 120,000 baht a day, as she insisted that the hotel has nothing to do with the gambling activities,” a report on ‘www.thaipbsworld.com’ stated.

    Parveen, is a well-known figure in the elite circles in India. He is known for organising casinos in different countries including Nepal, Thailand and Malaysia. The Enforcement Directorate registered a case against him and investigating for money laundering.

    New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a wanted criminal, who was carrying a reward of Rs five lakh on his head in connection with the murder of Karnataka BJP Yuva Morcha leader Praveen Nettaru.

    According to information, the arrest was made Saturday night in Bengaluru. The accused was identified as Taufil. The agency has not commented on the matter as of now.

    Nettaru was allegedly killed by the members of the now banned PFI.

    In January, the NIA charge-sheeted 20 accused in the matter before a Special NIA court in Bengaluru.

    Nettaru was murdered by PFI members on July 26 last year in Bellare village in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district, “with the intention to strike terror in the society and create fear among the people,” the agencies had said.

    Bellare Police lodged a case and was looking into the matter but later on the Union Ministry of Home Affairs handed over the NIA.

    “Investigations revealed that the PFI, as part of its agenda to create terror, communal hatred and unrest in society and to further its agenda of establishing Islamic rule by 2047, formed secret teams called ‘Service Teams or Killer Squads’ to carry out killings of its ‘perceived enemies’ and targets. These Service Team members were given arms as well attack training, and training in surveillance techniques in order to identify, list out and to mount surveillance on leaders belonging to certain communities and groups. These Service Team members were further trained to kill identified targets, on the instructions of senior PFI leaders,” the NIA has said.

    The charge sheet says that meetings of the PFI members and leaders were held at Bengaluru city, Sullia Town and Bellare village. The head of District Service Team, Mustafa Paichar was instructed to recce, identify and target a prominent member of a particular community.

    The PFI members as per instructions, recced and identified four persons and among them was Praveen Nettaru. They killed him in full public view with lethal weapons to create terror among the people at large and especially among the members of a particular community.

    The accused Mahammed Shiyab, Abdul Basheer, Riyaz, Mustafa Paichar, Masud K.A., Kodaje Mohammed Sherif, Abubakkar Siddik, Noufal M., Ismail Shafi K., K. Mahammad Iqbal, Shaheed M., Mahammad Shafeek G., Ummar Farook M.R., Abdul Kabeer C.A., Muhammad Ibrahim Sha, Sainul Abid Y., Shekh Saddam Hussain, Zakiar A., N. Abdul Haris and Thufail M.H. have been charge-sheeted under sections of 120B, 153A, 302 and 34 of IPC and sections 16, 18 and 20 of the UA (P) Act, 1967, Section 25(1)(a) of the Arms Act.

    Among the charge-sheeted accused, Mustafa Paichar, Masud K.A., Kodaje Mohammed Sherif, Abubakkar Siddik, Ummar Farook M.R. and Thufail M.H. are currently absconding and rewards have been declared for information leading to their arrest.

    Further investigations in the matter is on.

    Dakshina Kannada: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken into custody a community hall in Idukki village near Bantwal town in connection with murder case of BJP Yuva Morcha activist Praveen Kumar Nettare, sources said on Thursday.

    According to the sources, Mittur Freedom Community Hall in Idukki village was used to carry out terror activities. The probe agency has taken the entire premises of 20 guntas into custody.

    Cadres attached to the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) used to get trained here to carry out anti-national and subversive activities, they said.

    Besides, a plan for the murder of Hindu activists and revenge killings was also carried out here.

    An order has been issued to the District Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Dakshina Kannada district. The owner of the community hall has also been given official communication in this regard and stated that the community hall can’t be rented out or given to someone. The NIA has also prohibited the movement of any articles or carrying out any work in the hall.

    NIA, which is probing Praveen Kumar Nettare murder case, has submitted a charge sheet against 20 accused persons to the NIA Special court in Bengaluru. They have arrested 14 persons and have launched a hunt for six others who are absconding.

    It had submitted a 1,500-page charge sheet, including statements of 240 witnesses.

    The Socialist Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has announced the ticket for Shafi Bellare, an accused in the murder case of BJP Yuva Morcha Activist Praveen Kumar Nettare, to contest in upcoming Assembly elections in Karnataka. The development has raised debate in the state.

    Shafi Bellare is presently lodged in prison in connection with the murder of Praveen, which made national headlines.

    Bellare had been arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and in its custody.

    New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a charge sheet against 20 members of the now-banned Popular Front of India (PFI) in connection with the murder of BJP Youth leader Praveen Nettaru in Karnataka last year.

    The charge sheet has been filed before a Special NIA court in Bengaluru.

    On Friday, the counter-terrorist task enforcement agency declared a reward of Rs five lakhs on two PFI members — Kodaje Mohammed Sheriff and Masud K.A.

    Nettaru was murdered by PFI members on July 26, 2022, in Bellare village of Sullia Taluk in Dakshina Kannada district, with the intention to strike terror in society and create fear among the people.

    Bellare Police lodged a case and was looking into the matter which was later handed over to the NIA by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
