Andhra Pradesh to witness huge spike in investments next month: Minister

    [ad_1]

Velagapudi: Minister Chelluboina Venugopala Krishna praised chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy for creating industrial-friendly policies and succeeding in attracting investors to the state.

He was speaking to reporters during the investor summit in Visakhapatnam. He said, “Andhra Pradesh is the fastest-growing state in the country with a GSDP of 11.43% in 2021-22, which is 2.73% higher than the national growth rate. Even in covid times, when the Centre’s growth rate was declining at -6.6%, Andhra Pradesh recorded a positive growth rate of 0.08%. Another remarkable statistic is that Andhra Pradesh’s per capita income is 38.5% higher than the rest of the nation.”

He further said that ever since Jagan donned the chief minister’s hat, AP is ranked number one in the country in ease of doing business for four consecutive years.

“We are proud of what Andhra Pradesh has achieved despite what happened to us during bifurcation. We are a shining example of development despite the debts we are still paying off taking by the previous TDP regime,” he said.

Elaborating on CM Jagan’s extended support to the MSME (medium and small medium enterprises) sector, the minister said, “Andhra Pradesh is the only state to give wide market preference to MSMEs in all government procurements. CM Jagan government has extended a restart package to MSMEs to overcome the financial crisis that kicked off during the COVID-19 crisis.”

Andhra Pradesh CM may shift to Vizag next month

    [ad_1]

Visakhapatnam: A week after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy declared that Visakhapatnam will be the state capital, authorities have begun arrangements to shift the administrative capital to the port city from Amaravati.

Visakhapatnam district administration is busy identifying suitable buildings including a building for the Chief Minister’s official residence.

Though the district authorities are yet to receive formal orders about shifting of the state capital, the officials were doing the ground work to keep everything ready in advance. The orders are likely to be issued anytime.

A building for the Chief Minister’s official residence is likely to be finalised on Beach Road, a key landmark area in the city. The official circles are abuzz with the talk that if everything goes well, the Chief Minister may perform the house warming ceremony on March 22 or 23.

Officials were also busy identifying buildings for the government offices and residences of the minister and senior IAS and IPS officials.

Addressing a meeting in New Delhi on January 31, Jagan Mohan Reddy had announced that Visakhapatnam will soon become the state capital.

He was addressing a curtain raiser event for the global investors’ summit in Visakhapatnam on March 3 and 4.

“Here I am to invite you to Visakhapatnam, which is going to be our capital, in the days to come. I myself would also be shifting over to Visakhapatnam in the months to come as well,” said Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is currently running the government from Amaravati.

Though several ministers had been speaking about this, it was the first time that the Chief Minister made a categorical statement about shifting the administrative capital to Visakhapatnam.

It was in 2019 that the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government mooted the idea of three state capitals with Visakhapatnam as the administrative capital. However, protests by farmers of Amaravati over shifting of the capital and the High Court order directing the government to develop Amaravati as the state capital had delayed the process.

On December 17, 2019 Jagan Mohan Reddy had announced in the state Assembly that three state capitals will be developed reversing the decision of the previous TDP government to develop Amaravati as the state capital.

The YSRCP government mooted Visakhapatnam as administrative capital, Kurnool as judicial capital and Amaravati as legislative capital.

This triggered massive protests by farmers of Amaravati who had given 33,000 acres of land for the capital and the previous government had also undertaken the works on some components of the mega project.

On March 3, 2022, Andhra Pradesh High Court had directed the state government to develop Amaravati as the state capital in six months. A bench of three judges had pronounced the judgment on 75 petitions filed by Amaravati farmers and others challenging the government’s move on three capitals.

However, the state government filed an appeal in the Supreme Court. In November last year, the Supreme Court stayed the High Court order saying that the court cannot act like a town planner or an engineer.

Send DGP to Andhra Pradesh, demands Telangana BJP MLA

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao on Sunday demanded Director General of Police Anjani Kumar be immediately sent to his cadre state, Andhra Pradesh.

He alleged that injustice was done to the Indian Police Service (IPS) officers from Telangana by the state government as it posted four IPS officers from Bihar in key positions.

The MLA told reporters that in the recent transfer of 93 IPS officers, Anjani Kumar, Sanjay Jain, Swati Lakra and Shahnawaz Qasim were given key posts.

He alleged that not even one IPS officer from Telangana was given an important post.

He said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao appointed officials from Bihar to key posts like Chief Secretary and the DGP, which gives credence to the doubt that he hails from Bihar.

He alleged that CM KCR gave key posts to officials who were obeying the government’s orders by arresting leaders of opposition parties.

The BJP leader slammed AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi for his statement in the Assembly that AIMIM would win 15 Assembly seats but would work under Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) led by KCR.

Raghunandan Rao said this proved their allegation that AIMIM is ‘B’ team of BRS.

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy made a gala pitch in New Delhi on Tuesday calling global nations to invest in the state and be part of its economic growth.

Addressing the International Diplomats Alliance Meet during a preparatory meeting for the Global Investors Summit to be held in Visakhapatnam on March 3 and 4, CM Jagan said, “As a fastest growing state in the country with a GSDP of 11.43%, Andhra Pradesh has achieved the number one rank in the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) and has retained it for the third successive year.”

Elaborating on the facilities and resources available in the state for industrial growth, CM Jagan said that out of the eleven industrial corridors being developed by the Centre across the country, AP shares space for three of them- Hyderabad to Bengaluru, Visakhapatnam to Chennai and Chennai to Bengaluru.

“We have a single desk portal facility. You will get all kinds of permissions in 21 days. In terms of electricity, industries can be set up at affordable prices. AP has ample resources in terms of renewable energy too. There is an opportunity for 33,000 MW pumped storage projects,” he said.
