    Ten policemen, one civilian killed in blast carried out by Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada, reported news agency PTI quoting officials.

    Maoists planted an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that detonated on a vehicle transporting District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel near Aranpur in Dantewada district.

    The incident took place under Aranpur police station when a team of the state police’s District Reserve Guard (DRG) was returning after an anti-Maoists operation, a senior official said.

    New Delhi: A Delhi Police Head Constable and a Constable have been placed under suspension after they were allegedly found running sextortion racket with the help of a girl who used to trap boys through a dating app.

    According to the information, a departmental inquiry has been initiated against the accused police personnel, identified as Constable Ankit posted at Nihal Vihar police station and Head Constable Mukesh posted with the PCR unit.

    They had taken a room on rent where the girl would bring the victim boy, and later they would extort money from him.

    A source said that on April 17, they got a PCR call regarding extortion by two police personnel. After receiving the call, a team was sent to record the testimony of the victim, a resident of Gurugram.

    “The victim was terrified. He was with three of his friends. He told the police that he met a girl through dating app, Bumble. Both had been in touch for a week. The girl took him to a room where Rs 27,000 Rs were extored from him,” the source said.

    According to the police report accessed by IANS, the girl called Pandey to meet her at Peera Garhi crossing on April 16. Later, the girl took him to her room by e-rickshaw in ShivRam Park, Nihal Vihar which was allegedly taken on rent by the accused police personnel to trap boys.

    “The accused police personnel reached over there (the room). They told the boy that they received a PCR call that he had done something wrong with the girl. The victim was threatened that strict action would be taken against him. Later, they demanded money to sort out the matter,” the source said.

    The accused police personnel took Rs 27,000 from the victim. They also threatened the boy not to disclose the incident to anyone, else they would implicate him in a false rape case, the report noted.

    On enquiry, it was also found that both police personnel were in touch with the girl involved in the matter.

    “Later, the victim narrated the incident to his friends and made a PCR call out of fear of being implicated in a false case. The act of the accused police personnel constituted gross misconduct, indiscipline, negligence towards their duties and also diminishing the image of Delhi Police,” the report reads.

    Quetta: An intelligence-based operation in Pakistan’s Quetta city turned deadly on Tuesday, with at least four police officers losing their lives in a gunbattle with terrorists, according to the police.

    Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) in Quetta Capt (retd) Zuhaib Moshin said that the operation was launched to neutralise terrorists who had been involved in past attacks on security forces in Kuchlak, reports Dawn news.

    The operation was conducted in conjunction with Frontier Constabulary personnel.

    During the operation, law enforcement personnel surrounded a house in Kuchlak, from which the terrorists opened fire on the officers, resulting in the tragic loss of four of them, the SSP said.

    In response, the personnel retaliated, resulting in the death of one of the terrorists.

    Police officials recovered weapons and ammunition from the deceased terrorist, prompting the SSP to suggest that he could have been involved in an attack on police officers two days prior, as well as an attack on the Frontier Constabulary a week ago.

    The body of the alleged terrorist was taken to a Quetta hospital to establish his identity, while the remains of the four officers were transported to Police Lines Quetta, Dawn reported.

    On Monday, at least four people were killed and 21 wounded in two attacks targeting the police in Quetta.

    According to police, the target of the attack was SP Investigation Naseer Shah of Quetta police whose vehicle was parked at the Kandahari Bazaar.

    The SP was not in the vehicle at the time of the attack, Dawn reported.

    Several homes belonging to the Muslim community as well as mosques were attacked by an angry mob at Dharharwa village in Sitamarhi district of Bihar.

    Many were reportedly injured and are currently being treated at a local hospital. No loss of live has been reported yet.

    It is alleged that when police tried to calm the mob down, they were attacked in return. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Subodh Kumar and Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Dayashankar Sah were injured.

    The reason for the attack is still not certain. When Siasat.com tried to contact the concerned police station, they refused to comment.

    Srinagar: The Jammu Kashmir administration has renamed several educational institutes, bridges and stadiums to the names of Government force personnel killed in the line of duty.

    According a notification,the Manoj-Sinha-led admin on Monday ordered the renaming of several educational institutes, bridges and other public places in the valley.

    Government Girls Middle School at Khoshipora in Anantnag has been renamed after Constable Rameez Raja Itoo, Constable who was killed in March 2021.

    A graduate in Science, Rameez Raja had joined the Jammu Kashmir Police as his father Abdul Salam Itoo died five years ago while serving the Jammu Kashmir Police.

    In March 2021, suspected Militants barged inside the house of a BJP leader in Srinagar and the alert sentry which included Rameez fired on the attackers who escaped from the spot, however, Rameez was injured in the attack and rushed to the SMHS hospital in Srinagar, he succumbed to his injuries there.

    Republic Day: Over 6,000 policemen deployed in New Delhi

    New Delhi: Delhi Police have deployed over 6,000 police personnel in and around the New Delhi district amid adequate security arrangements for the safe conduct of the Republic Day parade, an official said on Tuesday.

    Deputy Commissioner of Police, New Delhi, Pranav Tayal said that the police have made arrangements for around 70,000 people and the total deployment will be more than 6,000 police personnel.

    Both static and mobile Quick Response Teams will remain alert to handle any untoward situation, he said,

    “We have intensified the anti-terror measures in coordination with other agencies. Teams of National Security Guard will also be deployed,” the DCP said.

    The city is already under a heavy security cover after intelligence agencies received inputs of a possible terror attack in the run-up to the Republic Day. Vehicles are being thoroughly checked at all the entry and exit points of Delhi.

    “Delhi has always remained a target for anti-social elements. Threat perception is very high during such occasions. There are threat inputs and we have strengthened our security apparatus,” the DCP said.

    The police have also installed 150 new CCTV cameras with some even having a feature of face recognition to keep an eye over the movement of every unsocial element.

    This time the police have also introduced a new security feature in the entry pass of the Republic Day parade. “Every pass or ticket has a QR code. The entry will only be given when that code is scanned and the person carrying it is identified and verified,” the DCP said.

    He said that no person without a pass or a ticket will be allowed to gain entry at the Kartavya Path.

    The Delhi Police on Monday banned the flying of sub-conventional aerial vehicles over the national capital for security and safety reasons.

    Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora issued the order, prohibiting the flying of aerial vehicles such as para-gliders, para-motors, hang-gliders, UAVs, UASs, microlight aircraft, remotely-piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, small-sized powered aircraft, quadcopters or even by para-jumping from aircraft till February 15.
