How our police usually solves bomb blast cases

    By Justice Katju

Whenever a bomb blast occurs in India there is great pressure by politicians and the public on the police to solve the crime.

The problem for our police is that it is not usually trained in scientific investigation nor is given the equipment for the same, so it can rarely catch the real culprits.

Criminal investigation is a science. If one reads the stories of Sherlock Holmes one reads how Holmes scientifically investigates a crime. Similarly if one sees on YouTube ( see FBI Files, True Crimes, Crime Reporter, etc ) how the American police solves a crime, by going on the spot and gathering the evidence—fingerprints, blood stains, tyre tracks, fibres, cartridge shells, semen, etc, and then sending it to scientific laboratories, one will understand what is scientific investigation of crimes. The fingerprints are fed into a national database, DNA tests are held on blood, semen, etc.

In India, on the other hand, our police is rarely trained in scientific investigation nor is provided the equipment for it, and yet the police inspector is threatened with suspension if he does not solve the crime. So what does he do ? He catches hold of some young Muslims who had given fiery speeches in a meeting denouncing atrocities on Muslims in India, chargesheets them, and then manufactures false evidence against them. The real culprits are rarely caught.

Many people regard most Muslims to be fanatics, who have been religiously indoctrinated to commit acts of terrorism, so they are often the scapegoats.
Even if they are ultimately found innocent by the Court they often have to spend years in jail before they are released, as they are usually denied bail. Numerous instances can be given of this, as in the links below

Link 1 : This Muslim Man Spent 23 Years Of His Life Locked Up In Jail On False Terror Charges

Link 2 : 127 Indian Muslims charged with ‘terror’ acquitted after 19 years

Link 3 : 2005 Hyderabad suicide blasts ten muslims declared innocent after 12 years jail surprise

    Is this justice?

I regret to say that this is a mockery of justice, and this is one reason why Muslims, who constitute 16% of our population, often feel alienated in India

Hyderabad: The Intelligence Bureau was keeping a close watch on the 16 persons who were detained in a predawn operation in Madhya Pradesh and Telangana for allegedly maintaining links with an International radical organization.

The agency in coordination with the counter-intelligence wing of the Telangana police and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Madhya Pradesh police detained 11 persons in MP and five others in Hyderabad city of Telangana.

The Intelligence agencies are keeping a close watch on the people who were directly or indirectly in contact with the members and sympathizers of Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT), an alleged terrorist group after the arrest of Ziyavudeen Baqavi of Tamil Nadu was arrested in February 2022 for allegedly radicalising vulnerable Muslim youths to establish an Islamic state and enforce a constitution written by a radical preacher.

“The case pertained to the conduct of secret ‘bayaan’ classes by members of HuT, an offshoot of ISIS, a proscribed terror organisation, for radicalizing youths to establish an Islamic state or caliphate and enforce the constitution written by radical Islamic preacher Taqi al-Din al-Nabhani,” the NIA had stated in a press release issued then. Al-Nabhani is the founder of HuT.

Three of the persons who were detained in the operation are revert-Muslims. One of them is well known for his Islamic classes and actively involved in helping new revert Muslims in administrative matters. He was also on the radar of the Telangana police and central law enforcement agencies.

According to various agencies, HuT has avoided global scrutiny radar while spreading its ideology and was becoming a more dangerous ‘terrorist group’ than ISIS. India had inputs from global security agencies about its expansion plans. HuT is alleged to have a support base in nearly 50 countries.

Founded in Jerusalem in 1952 and headquartered in London, the group has branches in Central Asia, Europe, South Asia, and Southeast Asia, particularly in Indonesia, where it has managed to garner great influence, say agency reports.

In South Asia, HuT has a significant presence in Pakistan and Bangladesh. HuT claims to have organised a demonstration in 2010 at Batla House in Delhi in protest against Israel’s alleged atrocities. This was said to be one of the last reported HuT activities in India, according to security experts. The detained individuals are being questioned for more details.

  • Hyderabad police to restore historic Kotwal building in Old City

Hyderabad police to restore historic Kotwal building in Old City

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The historic Kotwal office building in the Old City’s Purani Haveli, currently being used as a camp office, is being restored to its full glory. City police commissioner CV Anand on Tuesday inspected the structure and unveiled the plaque to mark the beginning of restoration works of the heritage building, which is symbol of the city’s 176-year-old police history.

The restoration project is being sponsored by Greenco, and carried out by Deccan Terrain Pvt, which renovates heritage buildings. The latter will work on restoring the old Hyderabad Police Kotwal building with materials like lime, hydrated lime, raw gum extracts, fibres and other materials that were widely used hundred years ago in construction.

Officials from Deccan Terrain gave a pictorial presentation to Hyderabad City police’s top brass about the current condition of the building, the outcome after its restoration etc, said a press release from CV Anand’s office. The commissioner also thanked Anil Kumar, Director Ace Urban group – Greenco, for sponsoring this project. The work is expected to be completed within 6 months, the release added.

    MS Education Academy

The old Kotwal building was constructed a century ago and functioned as office of the Kotwal (police head in Hyderabad) from 1920 to 2002. Post relocating Hyderabad commissioner’s office to Basheerbagh in 2002, the structure was being used as the camp office for the south zone deputy commissioner of police (DCP).

“Nevertheless the City police decided to restore this structure since its existence is intertwined with the history of the City and served as an essential landmark. GreenKo company came forward to sponsor this restoration project,” said the release from the city police.

“From an operational stand point and its close proximity to many iconic structures, religious places and other crowded areas , many of my predecessors preferred to camp in here while monitoring Friday prayers, large scale events and other processions etc., I had been continuing the same tradition and noticed that it’s condition is deteriorating till one day the roof caved in,” said Anand.

“But being a Hyderabadi, I felt it is our responsibility to conserve and revive these heritage structures,“ the Hyderabad commissioner added. Mr.Mir Barkatullah Khan, MD of Deccan Terrain, AR Srinivas, Addl. Commissioner of Police (Crimes & SIT), P.Sai Chaitanya, DCP south zone and other officers attended the program.

“Back then also there was the state and city police. Director General was responsible for the entire state (Hyderabad). As far as I remember, Kotwal was for the city police, who directly worked under the Nizam,” said Sajjad Shahid, historian and activist from the city.
