    Saudi: Last date for pilgrims to get vaccines before Haj season

    Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah confirmed that the last date for pilgrims to receive vaccinations is ten days before the Haj 1444 AH.

    Receiving vaccinations is a condition to enable them to perform the rituals of Haj.

    This came in response to an inquiry on the ministry’s Twitter account, asking if receiving the third dosage of COVID-19 was a requirement for performing the Haj.

    In response, the ministry of Hajj and Umrah stated that receiving all recommended vaccinations is necessary in order to issue the Haj permits.

    Below is a list of the COVID-19 vaccines approved by Saudi Arabia

    • Pfizer/BioNTech — 2 doses
    • Oxford/AstraZeneca— 2 doses
    • ​Covovax​​— 2 doses

    A certificate of vaccination with quadrivalent meningitis vaccine (ACYW135), issued three years ago and not less than ten days prior to arrival in Saudi Arabia, is also required from pilgrims.

    On January 5, Kingdom announced the start of the registration period for the Haj pilgrimage 2023 for citizens and residents in the Kingdom.

    On January 10, Kingdom announced that it will no longer impose limits on the number of pilgrims for this year’s Haj after three years of restrictions to curb the COVID-19 pandemic.

    On April 14, that the ministry had set the tenth of Shawwal as the last date for domestic pilgrims to pay the third and final instalment of their Haj ritual reservation.

    The final instalment is 40 percent of the set fee for packages approved during this pilgrimage season.

    This year, the issuance of official permits will start on May 5, which is the 15th of Shawwal.

    SRINAGAR: Around 50,000 pilgrims are expected to visit Kheer Bhawani and other places across Jammu and Kashmir this year, as announced by the Mata Kheer Bhawani Yatra Welfare Society on Tuesday.

    During a news conference, the Mata Kheer Bhawani Yatra Welfare Society stated that arrangements are being made for the pilgrims at Kheer Bhawani and other places ahead of the Mela.

    They further said that the administration has geared up to take adequate measures and ensure elaborate arrangements for the pilgrims, as they do every year.

    Mata Kheer Bhawani Yatra Welfare Society expects at least 40,000-50,000 pilgrims to visit and do darshan this year. However, there is a need to restore both ladies and gents toilets at Kheer Bhawani, which have been defunct for the past two years, and some other renovations need to be done at Kheer Bhawani.

    “The district administration has been directed to restore the facilities. We are expecting speedy work in this regard and hope that the work will be completed ahead of the Mela,” said Mata Kheer Bhawani Yatra Welfare Society . (KNO).

    Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Haj and Umrah has announced the 10th Shawwal as the last date for domestic pilgrims to pay the final instalment of the upcoming Haj 1444 AH.

    The final instalment is estimated at 40 percent and the reservation’s status will be confirmed when completing all the instalments at its specified times.

    As per a report by the Arabic daily Okaz, it noted that the reservation will be cancelled if the instalments are not completed.

    It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Haj and Umrah allowed the option of paying the costs of the Haj package in instalments.

    The ministry has set 20 percent for the first instalments, as pilgrims were obligated to pay the first instalment within 72 hours from the date of registration.

    The second instalment payment of 40 percent of the total cost was scheduled for Rajab 7.

    The third and final instalment must be paid no later than the 10th of Shawwal, less than two months before the start of the pilgrimage season due in late June this year.

    The issuance of official permits will begin on the 15th of Shawwal corresponding to May 5.

    Rudraprayag: A maximum of 13,000 pilgrims can visit Kedarnath per day when the annual pilgrimage to the Himalayan temple in Uttarakhand begins on April 25.

    The government has set the daily limit this time and a token system has also been introduced for the convenience of the pilgrims, Rudraprayag District Magistrate (DM) Mayur Dikshit told a press conference here on Tuesday.

    These are meant for a smooth conduct of the yatra, the DM said.

    Dikshit and Rudraprayag Superintendent of Police (SP) Vishakha Ashok Bhadane, who reviewed the arrangements for the forthcoming yatra, held a joint press conference.

    The pilgrims will get better medical care this time with the deployment of 22 doctors and an equal number of pharmacists along the yatra route.

    There will be three physicians and two orthopaedic surgeons among them, Dikshit said, adding that 12 medical relief points have also been set up along the route.

    Six ambulances have been deployed along the route, of which three have been kept in reserve, and an air ambulance has also been arranged by the government for any emergency.

    Sulabh International has been given the responsibility of keeping the yatra route clean, while the Kedarnath Nagar Panchayat has been assigned the task of keeping the temple premises clean.

    Permanent toilets are being built by Sulabh International and for waste management, a QR-code system is being implemented for plastic and water bottles. Health examinations of horses and mules are also being conducted by the animal husbandry department along the yatra route.

    Jal Sansthan has installed nine water purifiers from Sonprayag to Kedarnath Dham to provide pure drinking water to the pilgrims.

    The DM said 2,500 people would be accommodated in Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) guesthouses from Guptkashi to Badi Lincholi.

    Besides, two tent colonies with 80 beds each are being set up at New Ghoda Padav and Himlok Colony in Kedarnath Dham, which will accommodate 1,600 people.

    The SP said 450 police officers and employees have been deployed to conduct the yatra in an orderly manner and arrangements for 150-200 police personnel from outside the state are being made.

    A lost-and-found centre will also be operated during the yatra. Along with this, signboards have been prepared in different languages for the pilgrims coming from various states.

    Additional parking lots have been identified to deal with the frequent traffic snarls during the pilgrimage, the officials said.

    Hyderabad: Telangana Haj Committee (TSHC) chairman Md Saleem and the body’s executive officer Shafiullah informed in a joint statement that April 12 is the last date of remittance of advance Haj amount for provisionally selected haj pilgrims for Haj – 2023.

    Md. Saleem requested that the Haj pilgrims must pay the first advance amount of Haj-2023 by the end of the deadline.

    Required documents

    The selected Haj Pilgrims in the draw of lots (Qurrah) must submit the original passport along with a photocopy, downloaded Haj application and declaration form, medical fitness certificates of prescribed proforma of Haj Committee of India signed by a government medical officer or government doctor, payment receipt (Rs. 81,800 each) after bank reference number is generated online by Haj Committee of India, 2 photos with clear white background, COVID-19 certificates and bank details etc. before 14th April, 2023.

    The Intending pilgrims are requested to be ready to proceed for Haj in the month of June 2023, a press release said.

    The Haj pilgrims may download bank payment challan through the online website of the State Bank of India or Union Bank of India. The next payment will be informed shortly along with other details.

    The selected Haj pilgrims may be noted that their original passports have to be submitted to Telangana State Haj Committee on or before 14th April, 2023as per Circular – 8. This may be strictly adhered to and followed by, the press release further said.

    The Telangana State Haj Committee is not responsible for the passports received after the due date i.e., 14th April 2023 for their endorsement of visa for Haj-2023, it informed.

    Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of the Interior has issued updated guidelines for the safety and security of pilgrims and worshippers in Makkah and Madinah during the last ten days of Ramzan, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

    The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has strengthened its preparations and increased security, health, emergency and volunteering efforts to provide services that help pilgrims easily perform their rituals during the holy month.

    Here are the guidelines

    • Pilgrims can use public buses from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, or buses from the car park in Makkah Al-Mukarramah to reach the Grand Mosque.
    • Pilgrims can also use taxis, as well as trains from Al Haramain Station from King Abdulaziz International Airport to Al Rusaifa Station in Makkah Al Mukarramah.
    • Pilgrims can walk if they live in the central area or next to the Grand Mosque, or they can take a private car which must be driven by non-Umrah pilgrims.
    • Non-Umrah pilgrims are allowed to stay in the parking lot located at the beginning of Makkah Al-Mukarramah. Pilgrims can use public transportation to reach the Grand Mosque.
    • The General Syndicate of Cars also provides a free public transportation service at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to transport Umrah pilgrims to Makkah Al-Mukarramah.
    • Inside the Grand Mosque, pilgrims must abide by the instructions set by the security services.
    • The green light on the main gates means that pilgrims can enter through that gate as there is room for pilgrims to pray, but a red light indicates the entry is denied due to all sites being full.
    • Collecting donations is prohibited in the Grand Mosque, adding that pilgrims are not allowed to smoke, beg, or engage in commercial activities such as buying and selling.

    In addition to employing 200 qualified Saudi supervisors to follow up on field work for 4,000 male and female workers.

    The fieldwork included washing the Grand Mosque 10 times a day and preparing 7,000 bottles of Zamzam water, which are distributed to visitors through 800 workers.

    Riyadh: The authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) have opened more entry and exit points at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, to reduce crowding and deal with the increase in the number of worshippers during Ramzan, local media reported.

    The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques provided five other entrances to the chapel on the ground floor at the site, an entrance to the Ajyad Bridge, three other entrances to the stairs, and another entrance to the places of prayer on the first floor and the surface.

    “The entrances and exits have been opened to prevent over-crowding inside the prayer areas,” head of the Worshipper Crowd Department Khalaf Al Otaibi was quoted as saying by Arabic daily Okaz.

    He added that when the prayer places inside the mosque reach their full capacity, the worshipers are directed to the chapel of the third expansion of the mosque as well as its outer courtyards.

    Due to an increase in the number of worshipers at the mosque, home to the Kaaba, the Saudi General Directorate of Public Security on Friday advised worshipers to perform their weekly noon prayers at other mosques near their homes to help ease crowding at the holy site.

    The month of Ramzan usually marks the peak of the Umrah season at the Grand Mosque.

    In recent months, Saudi Arabia has revealed a large number of facilities for Muslims wishing to come to the country to perform Umrah.

    Amritsar: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee on Sunday sent a ‘jatha’ (group) of Sikh pilgrims to participate in a religious congregation to be organised on Khalsa Sajna Diwas (Baisakhi) at Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib in Pakistan.

    Besides the SGPC, Sikh devotees sponsored by Haryana Gurdwara Management and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee also crossed over to Pakistan on Sunday through the Joint Check post of Attari border (JCP), officials said.

    The total strength of Sikh pilgrims who crossed over to Pakistan was 2,500.

    SGPC secretary Partap Singh said this ‘jatha’ has departed to participate in the main congregation of Khalsa Sajna Diwas (Baisakhi) to be organised at Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib.

    He said the ‘jatha’ will reach Gurdwara Sri Nankana Sahib on April 9, and after paying obeisance at Gurdwara Sacha Sauda Sahib, Mandi Chuharkana, on April 10, it will return to Nankana Sahib.

    The jatha will reach Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib on April 12, and participate in the main congregation on April 14, he said.

    On April 15, the ‘jatha’ of Sikh pilgrims will reach Gurdwara Dehra Sahib, Lahore, and visit Gurdwara Rori Sahib, Eminabad, as well as Gurdwara Sri Kartapur Sahib on April 16. After staying at Gurdwara Dehra Sahib, Lahore, on April 17, the ‘jatha’ will return to India on April 18, he said.

    Hyderabad: The provisionally selected Haj pilgrims must pay the first installment of Rs 81,800 by or before April 7, 2023, the Haj Committee of India (HCI) notified on Tuesday.

    The Haj Committee of India’s accounts are held with SBI or UBI, and pilgrims may pay the required amount online or at any branch of that bank with a core banking system by entering the Bank Reference Number on the designated pay-in-slip on the website.

    The Deposit receipt must include each cover’s distinct Bank Reference Number.

    The Haj Committee informed the provisionally chosen pilgrims that they must submit a copy of the pay-in slip, along with a medical screening and fitness certificate (format available on the website), and an original international machine-readable passport to the concerned State Haj Committee by or before April 15, 2023, after depositing the advance amount.

    Thus, to avoid any delays in submitting the passports of tentatively selected pilgrims of Haj 2023 to the High Commission of India by 15 April 2023, State/UT Haj Committees must submit the pilgrims’ documentation on a daily basis.

    The Haj Committee of India stated that the following payments will be determined after the finalisation of the airfare cost and other charges in Saudi Arabia, and that they would be announced shortly.

    Telangana State Haj Committee chairman Mohammad Saleem stated that candidates must be permanent government workers who have already done Haj or Umrah and have a solid understanding of Haj-related activities, with preference given to those who are fluent in Arabic.

    “Children must get all necessary doses of authorised Covid-19 vaccinations,” he stated.

    He further stated that senior officials such as Class-A officers of the Central or State Governments or their equivalents are ineligible.
