    Srinagar, Feb 1 (GNS): Bodies of two persons have been retrieved from underneath the snow mass, even as four other persons rescued after a massive avalanche occurred at Affarwat peak in famed ski-resort Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said.

    They told GNS that soon after receiving information about the incident, a large-scale rescue operation was launched at the site, during which bodies of two persons were retrieved. “Fortunately, we were able to rescue four other persons”, the officials said.

    The identity of the deceased is being ascertained, they said. The rescue operation is on to find out if there is any other person trapped, they added.

    January: Six persons were arrested for allegedly thrashing a youth after tying him to a tree in Madhya Pradesh’s Narmadapuram district, a police official said on Thursday.

    In a video of the incident, which went viral on social media, the accused are purportedly seen thrashing the victim, identified as Prakash Yadav. The incident took place in the Makhan Nagar police station limits in the district on Wednesday.

    Prakash visited the local police station and lodged a complaint against the accused.

    According to the FIR, a copy of which is with ANI, Prakash said he is a YouTuber and content creator from Khargawali village.

    According to the complaint, he was visiting the Managaon village for some work related to his YouTube channel on Wednesday, January 25.

    After completing his work, he left for Kotgaon village on his bike. On the way, he ran into one of the accused, Narayan Yadav, near Belia bridge, as per the FIR.

    “Prakash had a dispute with Narayan. Invoing the dispute, Narayan started abusing him. When Prakash protested, Narayan’s brother Narendra Yadav and one more associate Omprakash reached the spot. They caught hold of him and thrashed him around. They also threatened to kill him if they found him in their village again,” the FIR read.

    Makhan Nagar police station in-charge Praveen Kumre said, “On the victim’s complaint, a case was registered against the three accused persons. Later, on examining the video, three more accused persons were identified. A total of six accused were identified and the case was registered under IPC sections 294 (obscene acts and songs), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).”

    “All the accused persons were arrested and further investigation is underway,” Kumre added.

    Srinagar, January 21: At least five persons were injured in twin mysterious blast in Narwal area of Jammu on Saturday.

    A senior police officer told GNS that the blasts were reported from two vehicles, leading to injuries to five persons.

    The injured have been evacuated to nearby hospital.

    Hyderabad: Three people are suspected to have got trapped inside the ill-fated commercial building at Secunderabad here where a major fire broke out, police said on Friday.

    Personnel involved in the rescue and relief operation could not go inside the building on Friday as it faced the possibility of collapsing with its slab breaking up, official sources said.

    Authorities used drone cameras to locate the three persons, who were workers in the building, and efforts were on to trace them.

    An official said experts have analysed the structural stability of the building and a decision would be taken on its demolition after they submit a report.

    Police personnel have been deployed to prevent people from entering the scene of accident as experts stated that the building is in a bad condition following the blaze, a police release said.

    As a precautionary measure, the residents of houses in the vicinity of the building have been asked not to stay in their homes. Many of them left for their relatives’ places, while some have been provided temporary shelter.

    Union Tourism and Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy, Lok Sabha member from Secunderabad, visited the residents of the locality on Thursday.

    He said a survey of warehouses and godowns which are located in residential localities in Hyderabad should be conducted and further action taken.

    Meanwhile, Arvind Kumar, Special Chief Secretary (Urban Development) said a meeting a would be held with senior officials on fire safety on January 23.

    “Having a meeting on Jan 23 with @GHMCOnline, addl DG Fire services and Prl secy Home on fire safety, fire audit and statutory compliances required to be complied with depending upon the nature of trade/storage & shall be insisted upon henceforth,” he tweeted.

    A major fire broke out in the five-storey commercial building on Thursday and authorities evacuated residents of the adjoining buildings following the blaze which was brought under control after a seven-hour long operation.

    A blanket of thick black smoke engulfed the area for several hours.

    No one was injured in the incident, and unconfirmed reports on Thursday said two persons were trapped in the building.

    Officials, on Thursday itself, ruled out the possibility of survival if anyone was stuck inside the building in view of severe heat and smoke.

    The CBI on Wednesday said that it arrested two then directors of a private company in a case related to bank fraud.

    In a statement, issued to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said that CBI has arrested two then directors of a private company based at Kathua in the ongoing investigation of a bank fraud case.

    The statement reads that a case was registered on 12.02.2020 against the private company and others including its MD, Directors on complaint from SBI, SAM Branch, Ludhiana.

    “It was alleged that the accused in conspiracy with unknown officials of State Bank of India, had cheated Bank to the tune of Rs. 87. 88 Crore (total amount with interest of around Rs.121.13 Crore) during the period from 2006 to 2019 by illegally removing machinery and other parts without getting prior permission or without informing the Lender Banks,” it reads.

    It reads that the proceeds of such machines, motors etc., had not been deposited in the account. It was further alleged that the accused stealthily removed the imported machinery of Pulp Section and other parts from the factory without the knowledge of the bank.”

    It added that it was also alleged that the accused illegally sold machinery parts as scrap and arranged fake invoices to cover up the said illegal sale.

    “It was found during investigation that the accused had allegedly diverted funds from the loan account. Both the arrested accused are being produced today before the Court of CJM, Jammu,” it reads—(KNO)
