Andhra Pradesh CM launches helpline to redress people’s grievances

    [ad_1]

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday launched a new programme, ‘Jaganannaku Chebudham’ aimed at redressing individual grievances pertaining to government services or schemes.

The Chief Minister launched a toll-free helpline number 1902 which allows citizens to directly call and raise their individual problems with the Chief Minister’s Office.

It is an upgraded version of ‘Spandana’ that aims to proactively reach out to citizens, gather their grievances in a focused manner, and address them in a mission mode. The Chief Minister launched this initiative in the presence of over 1 lakh government officials who were connected via a video call that was arranged in all village and ward secretariats across districts.

“Climbing the ladder brings with it great responsibility. I am not here to rule, but to serve. Starting with me, every government official from top to bottom will be at your service through Jaganannaku Chebudham,” Jagan Mohan Reddy said in his address.

Reiterating his government’s commitment to the public, he said: “The government is moving towards finding a solution to every problem that a citizen can have. This grievance redressal helpline under the Jaganannaku Chebudham program aims to resolve individual grievances relating to any government service or schemes in the most effective manner. Calling 1902 brings the grievance directly to my attention and I consider your problem as mine.”

With this toll-free number, individuals can quickly and easily raise governance-related grievances that are impacting them and their families. In addition to lodging grievances, citizens can also make inquiries about government services and welfare schemes from the comfort of their own homes.

The government claimed that through this initiative it has provided an effective option for individuals to simply call and share their concerns directly with the CM’s Office.

The government has also formed PMUs (Project Monitoring Units) to ensure timely and effective resolution of citizens’ issues. These special monitoring teams will work at various levels of government from the state-level to the mandal-level to regularly follow up and monitor the redressal process.

These teams are directly scrutinized by the Chief Minister’s Office, ensuring that every grievance receives the attention and action it deserves. With the support of PMUs, the government aims to address all citizen grievances raised on the helpline to be promptly taken up by the authorities concerned with the utmost care and attention. The citizens are also given a follow-up feedback call after their grievance has been resolved, officials said.

Furthermore, if a citizen feels that their issue needs to be revisited, the government will reopen the case and escalate it to a senior officer to ensure that every concern is addressed in the best possible manner, they added.

PM Modi calls for people’s participation in fight against climate change

    [ad_1]

Washington: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said an idea becomes a mass movement when it moves from “discussion tables to dinner tables” as he called for people’s participation and collective efforts in the fight against climate change.

He also told a gathering of world leaders on Friday that when people become conscious that simple acts in their daily lives are powerful, there will be a very positive impact on the environment.

“People across the world hear a lot about climate change. Many of them feel a lot of anxiety because they do not know what they can do about it. They are constantly made to feel that only governments or global institutions have a role. If they learn that they can also contribute, their anxiety will turn into action,” Modi said while addressing the World Bank-organised “Making it Personal: How behavioral change can tackle climate change” conference.

    MS Education Academy

Citing “Mission Life”, which was launched by him and the UN secretary general last year October, Modi said the programme is about democratising the battle against climate change.

“Climate change cannot be fought from conference tables alone. It has to be fought from the dinner tables in every home,” he told the conference being held on the sidelines of the annual spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

“When an idea moves from discussion tables to dinner tables, it becomes a mass movement”, making every family and individual a part, and their choices can help the planet as well as provide scale and speed, he said.

Prime Minister Modi said when people become conscious that simple acts in their daily lives are powerful, there will be a very positive impact on the environment. The people of India have done a lot in this matter, he said.

“In the last few years, people-driven efforts have improved the sex-ratio in many parts of India. It was the people who laid a massive cleanliness drive, be it rivers, beaches, or roads. They are ensuring public places are free of litter, and it was the people who made the switch to LED bulbs a success. Nearly 370 million LED bulbs have been sold in India,” he said.

This helps in avoiding nearly 39 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year, the prime minister said.

Farmers of India ensure coverage of nearly 7,00,000 hectares of farmland through micro-irrigation. Fulfilling the mantra of per drop more crop, this has saved a huge amount of water, he pointed out.

“Under Mission Life, our efforts are spread across many domains, such as making local bodies environment friendly, saving water, saving energy, reducing waste, and e-wastes, adopting healthy lifestyles, adoption of natural farming, promotion of millets,” Modi said.

These efforts will save over 22 billion units of energy, save nine trillion litres of water, reduce waste by 375 million tons, recycle almost one million tons of e-waste, and generate around 170 million of additional cost saving by 2030, he said.

“Further, it will help us reduce wastage of 15 billion tons of food,” Modi said, noting that the global primary crop production in 2020, according to the Food and Agriculture Organisation, was about nine billion tons.

He said global institutions have an important role to play in encouraging countries across the world.

The World Bank Group is looking to increase climate finance from 26 per cent to 35 percent as a share of total financing. The focus of this climate finance is usually on conventional respects, he noted.

The prime minister said adequate financing methods need to be worked out for behavioral initiatives and a show of support by the World Bank towards behavioral initiatives such as Mission Life will have a multiplier effect.

Amaravati will remain as ‘people’s capital’ of AP: TDP leader Nara Lokesh

    [ad_1]

Anantapuramu: Amaravati will win the battle and remain as the “people’s capital” of Andhra Pradesh, opposition TDP leader Nara Lokesh has said as the agitation by farmers who donated lands to build the greenfield capital touched the milestone of 1,200 days.

Lokesh, who is the general secretary of TDP, made these remarks expressing confidence about Amaravati continuing as the state’s capital, during his padayatra called ‘Yuva Galam’ at CK Palli in Raptadu assembly constituency of Anantapuramu district.

“Your sacrifice will not go waste and Amaravati will certainly remain as the people’s capital,” Lokesh said as per a statement shared to media on Friday.

Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had recently announced that the state administration would be functioning from the port city of Visakhapatnam. The ruling YSRCP had also moved the Supreme Court over the trifurcation of state capitals following the Andhra Pradesh High Court’s verdict in March 2022 directing the state government to develop Amaravati as the state’s capital. The matter is currently pending in the apex court.

Incidentally, some senior citizens complained to Lokesh in CK Palli that their pensions were withdrawn owing to monthly power bills crossing a limit set by the incumbent government. Reacting to this complaint, Lokesh observed that six lakh people “lost” their pensions while another six lakh people are likely to suffer the same fate soon, but promised that the TDP will reinstate them on returning to power in the state.

Likewise, representatives from the Valmiki and Boya communities have appealed to the opposition leader to include them in the Backward Classes (BC) list as their lives were impoverished whereas Kuruba community members complained that Rs 2 lakh loan facility was withdrawn by the dispensation.

Meanwhile, Lokesh asserted that sand is illegally being transported to Bengaluru with the support of a ruling party MLA and claimed that apparel company Jockey exited the southern state resulting in job loss for nearly 6,000 people.

People’s Interest ‘Top Priority’, Doors Open For Dialogue: LG Sinha On Property Tax

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: While reiterating stand on recently imposed property tax in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said “People’s interest is the top most priority of the government and has been duly taken care of”. He said the administration has issued a toll free number and people have been asked to put forth their suggestions if any as “doors are yet open for a dialogue”

Talking to media persons in Jammu, the Lieutenant Governor Sinha said “I do not speak on political issues. I reiterate that people’s concern is the top most priority of present dispensation. Their concerns have been well taken care of. The rate of tax in J&K is less than Ambala, Dehradun and Shimla”.

“There are 1,01,000 commercial properties in J&K out of which less than 40,000 are those who have to pay 700 rupees annually as property tax. Further there are 36,000 properties who have to pay 2000 rupees annually, which however is much less than states like Ambala, Dehradun and Shimla,” Sinha said.

“People’s concern is our priority. We have issued a toll free number to get feedback and suggestions from people, if any. Doors are yet open for dialogue,” LG Sinha said.

About uproar on APTECH Ltd. the LG Sinha said court has intervened into the matter who gave a verdict on yesterday. (KNS)

  • Administration‘s Ugly Designs Unacceptable: Peoples Conference

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference on Tuesday held a provincial meeting at its party headquarters in Srinagar.

The meeting was organized by the Provincial Committee headed by Provincial President Mohammad Khurshid Alam and attended by senior leadership, members of the youth wing, women’s wing, and student wing of the party. In the course of the meeting, the leaders deliberated on a host of issues concerning the people of J&K and subsequently adopted a resolution.

The PC leaders stressed that the need of the hour is for the party workers to fan out across J&K to reach out and interact with the people at every level.

“It is at this time of need, when the people of J&K are feeling isolated and alienated, that political forces must extensively reach out to the people to fill the void”, the leaders emphasized during the meeting, as per a statement issued to the news agency GNS.

The leaders once again appealed to the J&K administration to stop needling the people of J&K on every issue and let them live in peace.

“Not a day goes by when there is not some new sinister experiment by this administration. The people of J&K have gone through a lot of turmoil. It is perhaps the only place in India that does not have a popular government”, the leadership noted.

PC leaders also expressed their grave apprehensions about the shortlisting of recruitment company Aptech by the SSRB. They implored the administration to stop playing with the future of the youth of J&K and spare them from any further experimentation.

“If APTECH is blacklisted by seven states, how can the J & K administration have the audacity to hire the same company? Even any transparent selection in the future will be tarnished because of a tarnished recruitment agency”, the statement added. (GNS)

  • Rampant Demolition Drive Blind To People’s Miseries: NC

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani on Tuesday called an end to the rampant demolition drive, saying administration’s face in Kashmir should be marked by compassion, not bulldozer.

This he said while interacting with party functionaries here at the party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar. Peer Afaq Ahmed, Imran Nabi Dar, Dr Sajad Shafi Uri, Syed Tauqeer, Ahsan Pardesi, Ifra Jan, Pirzada Faroz, Danish Iqbal were present on the occasion.

Nasir said that these everyday demolition drives without serving mandatory notices to the alleged encroachers and denying them the right to defend themselves is a cause of worry. “Administration’s claims have done little to assuage the residents of the Valley, who are perpetually living under fear of their properties and business establishments being the next target of the ongoing drive. Outside Jammu and Kashmir, the government is providing homes to the homeless but here it is doing exactly the opposite by making people homeless. It’s vindictive. It has sparked panic and anxiety among the poor,” he added.

The paradoxical attitude of the government, Nasir said, is the clear physical manifestation of policy paralysis within J&K administration.
