Twitter shuts off internal Slack, employees say didn’t pay bills

    [ad_1]

San Francisco: Twitter has apparently shut off its internal communication system Slack and employees posted on anonymous workplace chat app Blind that the company had stopped paying its Slack bills.

The move left employees baffled and no one worked throughout the day on Friday as they were suddenly unable to communicate, reports Platformer.

Employees also lost access to Jira, a tracking software that allows engineers to ship code and monitor progress on new features.

While some employees communicated over email, some decided to just take the day off and others took two days off.

Jira access was later restored but Slack wasn’t down for “routine maintenance.”

“There is no such thing as routine maintenance,” a Slack employee was quoted as saying.

A Slack spokesperson confirmed that the company did not deactivate Twitter’s workspace or user accounts. Slack rarely shuts down services for maintenance.

“We didn’t pay our Slack bill. Now everyone is barely working. Penny wise, pound foolish,” wrote a Twitter employee.

Another called the disappearance of Slack the “proverbial final straw.”

Twitter did not immediately comment on the report.

Meanwhile, the platform was down for several users for a couple of minutes on Friday, and nearly 55 per cent of users reported problems accessing the platform from mobile.

The outage was brief and the services were restored after some time.

  • 8th Pay Commission: Update on the 8th pay commission

    [ad_1]

8th Pay Commission: There is good news for central employees. After the Seventh Pay Commission, now the government can soon constitute the Eighth Pay Commission. Let’s know the complete details about it.

These days more than one crore central employees and pensioners are eagerly waiting for the announcement of increase in dearness allowance and dearness relief. If everything goes well, this hike will be announced soon i.e. before Holi.

On the basis of the AICPI data released by the Ministry of Labour, it is being estimated that this time also there may be an increase of 4 percent in the dearness allowance. If this happens, the dearness allowance of central employees will increase from the current 38 to 42 per cent.

8th pay commission may be announced before general elections

Meanwhile, once again the discussions regarding the 8th Pay Commission have intensified. If experts are to be believed, general elections are to be held in the country in 2024. In such a situation, before this, the government can give a big gift of the Eighth Pay Commission to the employees. If sources are to be believed, the Central Government may introduce the Eighth Pay Commission in 2024.

And to implement it, its Pay Commission can also be formed. After this it can be implemented in 2026. However, at present no proposal of any kind has been presented by the Central Government regarding the Eighth Pay Commission.

Demand for 8th Pay Commission intensified

Central employees demanding the 8th Pay Commission say that they are getting less salary than what was recommended in the 7th Pay Commission. Meanwhile, the employees unions are preparing for a countrywide movement to press for their demands.

The union says that the government should clear the situation as soon as possible. At the same time, the government has categorically denied any idea on the subject of implementing the 8th pay scale in the House. Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chowdhury has mentioned this in Parliament as well.

    Minimum salary Rs 26,000

It is being told that if everything goes well, the 8th Pay Commission can be planned in the next year 2024. If this happens then there can be a tremendous increase in his salary. According to reports, the minimum pay of government employees will increase from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000 if the employees union’s proposal is approved under the 8th Pay Commission. And the fitment factor will increase up to 3.68 times.

8th pay commission recommendations may be implemented in 2026

Let us tell you that the Pay Commission for the employees is implemented only once in every ten years. The same pattern has been seen in the implementation of 5th, 6th and 7th pay commissions. According to an estimate, the 8th Pay Commission will be set up in the year 2024 and whose recommendations can be implemented in 2026.

Will the government end the pay commission?

Along with this, news is also coming that after the 7th Pay Commission, its tradition will end. That is, after the 7th Pay Commission, no new Pay Commission will come next.

Instead, the government can implement an automatic increment system. In this, the salary hike of government employees will be done automatically. It can be like increment in private jobs. If there is more than 50 percent DA in this, there will be an automatic revision in the salary.

Bengaluru: Bus conductor fails to return Rs 1; court orders BMTC to pay Rs 3K as compensation

    [ad_1]

The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) was recently ordered to pay a man Rs 2,000 in compensation after he was denied Rs 1 change for a bus ride by the Bengaluru Urban District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission.

According to several media reports, in 2019, a man named Ramesh Naik went on a BMTC bus from Shantinagar to Majestic bus depot, during which the conductor issued a ticket for Rs 29. The complainant paid Rs 30 and was not given the change.

Keeping up the fight, Naik then complained about the conductor to BMTC’s high authorities. To his surprise, the authorities made fun of him and drove him away.

Unhappy with this, he filed a complaint with the local consumer court, asking Rs 15,000 in compensation.

The court has now ordered the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) to pay the guy Rs 2,000 in compensation. The court also ordered BMTC to pay Rs 1,000 towards the complainant’s legal expenses.

“It is the customer’s right to receive the balance due to him, even if it is Rs 1,” the court said while slamming the managing director of Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) for the incident.

When Naik presented his case in court on his own, the counsel for BMTC refuted the charge, claiming the lawsuit was frivolous.

The judges of the consumer court stated in their judgement announced on January 31, 2023 that the complaint is undoubtedly modest in nature, but the BMTC bus conductor’s ‘inattentive’ and ‘irresponsible’ service is unacceptable.” It is the right of the consumer to collect his money even if it is Re 1 and, thus, he is entitled by the Customer Protection Act, 1986 to receive proper compensation from BMTC for the shortcomings,” the judges underlined.

The court ruled that the BMTC’s MD must repay Re 1 to the bus passenger in addition to providing him Rs 2,000 in compensation for the inconvenience. Court further directed that Naik be given Rs 1,000 for his lawsuit fees, and that all monies be paid within 45 days of the decision, or interest would be assessed as a penalty.

Karnataka Shocker: Unable to pay for iPhone, man kills delivery agent

    [ad_1]

A 20-year-old man in Karnataka has been arrested for allegedly killing and burning the body of a delivery boy from an e-commerce portal. The accused, identified as Hemanth Datta, had ordered an iPhone from Flipkart but was unable to pay for it upon delivery, which led to the horrific incident.

According to police sources, when the delivery boy, identified as Hemanth Naik, arrived at Datta’s residence on February 7, the accused asked him to open the box. However, Naik refused to do so and told him that if he opened it, he would not be able to take it back and asked Datta to pay for the phone. This led to an altercation, and Datta allegedly stabbed Naik to death.

Datta then kept the body at his house for four days before taking it near a railway bridge, pouring kerosene over it, and burning it at an isolated place. Naik’s brother filed a missing complaint on February 8, and after a friend informed him of a body found near a railway bridge on February 16, he approached the police again and filed another complaint.

The police registered a murder case and started tracking Naik’s mobile phone, which was last located at Datta’s residence. Upon raiding Datta’s house, they found Naik’s mobile phone and other articles, leading to the arrest of the accused.

    Flipkart’s reaction to the murder

Flipkart has issued a statement expressing their shock and sadness at the incident and has assured that they will provide full cooperation to the authorities in the investigation. The company has also urged its customers to treat delivery personnel with respect and ensure their safety.

Belarusian leader, a key Putin ally, to pay state visit to China next week

    [ad_1]

    belarus russia 88735

Beijing announced on Saturday that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, will travel to China on a state visit from February 28 to March 2.

The announcement of the trip comes a day after Beijing, looking to play a role in mediating a resolution to the Russian war on Ukraine, published a 12-point “position paper” aimed at ending the conflict.

“At the invitation of President Xi Jinping, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will pay a state visit to China from February 28 to March 2,” the Chinese foreign ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

The Belarusian foreign ministry confirmed the planned visit, saying the Chinese and Belarusian foreign ministers discussed it in a telephone call on Friday.

Lukashenko has backed Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine and allowed its territory to be used in the Russian assault. Lukashenko said last week that his country was prepared to join Russia’s war against Ukraine, if attacked. That prompted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to warn the Belarusian leader not to get directly involved in the war.

Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday said he will visit China in early April and seek Beijing’s help in ending the war in Ukraine. “The fact that China is engaging in peace efforts is a good thing,” Macron said, according to French media reports.

Ukraine’s Zelenskyy also said he would like to engage with Beijing following the proposals unveiled on Friday toward resolving the conflict. Zelenskyy said he was open to considering some aspects of the Chinese “position paper” and would welcome the chance to discuss the proposals with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

A meeting with Xi could be “useful” to both countries and for global security, Zelenskyy said.

  • Telangana govt ordered to pay pensions withheld amid COVID-19 with 6% interest

Telangana govt ordered to pay pensions withheld amid COVID-19 with 6% interest

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana High Court on Monday ordered the state government to pay retired government employees a portion of the pension that was withheld during the COVID-19 epidemic along with six percent interest.

A bench of the Telangana High Court comprising chief justice Ujjal Bhuyan and justice N Tukaramji emphasised that the Telangana government should follow the Supreme Court’s instructions clear out the pension dues with added interest to it.

In addition to this, the court further disposed of a group of petitions and PILs, filed by pensioners demanding 12 percent interest on the unpaid pensions.

However, the government objected to the order while claiming that the choice to postpone payment of salaries and pensions was made because of the unstable financial situation in the state arising from the outbreak of COVID-19.

It further stated that the state had behaved responsibly and that there was no justification for subjecting it to the burden of paying interest.

In 2021, the Supreme Court changed the interest rate on pensions from twelve percent to six percent.

    Wipro offering freshers lower pay

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: At a time when the job market is hit by rising layoffs, Wipro has written to fresh recruits who have been offered Rs 6.5 lakh per annum, asking if they would be able to work for Rs 3.5 lakh per annum.

The move has come from Wipro following delays in onboarding 2022 batch of graduates.

  • 8th Pay Commission will be bigger than 6th Pay Commission

    [ad_1]

8th Pay Commission: Employees across the country are preparing to shout about the 8th Pay Commission. But, there is good news waiting for the central employees.

All the ways of the 8th Pay Commission are not closed yet. There is still hope and the discussion is that after the general elections of 2024, the government can also put it into practice. Means new pay commission can be formed. Salary will continue to increase with dearness allowance. But, salary revision will happen only at the time of 8th Pay Commission.

The great thing is that this increase in 2024 or rather in the 8th Pay Commission can be bigger than the increase in the 6th Pay Commission.

Tremendous benefits will be available in 8th Pay Commission

If sources are to be believed then only after the general elections in the year 2024, there will be any discussion on the formation of new pay commission. But, it is certain that the matter is moving forward. However, in the meantime, the movement of employee unions and many organizations is also moving forward.

Preparations for the nationwide movement have intensified. The union has also warned that the government will have to clear the situation on this. According to the government machinery, there is currently no proposal on the 8th Pay Commission. Union Minister of State for Finance has also mentioned this in the Parliament.

But, the sources of the government departments tell that the time has not yet come for the formation of the Pay Commission. Its deadline will start in the year 2024. After the general elections of 2024, when the new government is formed, a decision will be taken on this.

When can the new pay commission be implemented?

If the 8th Pay Commission is formed by the end of the year 2024, then it will have to be implemented in the next two years. Means the situation can be implemented from 2026. If this happens then it will be the biggest salary hike for the central government employees. According to the sources, according to the 7th Pay Commission, there can be many changes in the 8th Pay Commission. The constitution of the Pay Commission can also be changed once in 10 years.

8th pay commission: Salary will change every year?

After the formation of the 7th Pay Commission, there was the least increase in the minimum salary of central employees. Actually, the salary was increased according to the Fitment Factor. In this it was kept 2.57 times. With this, the basic salary was increased to Rs 18,000.

If this formula is considered as the basis, then the minimum salary will be Rs.26000 under the maximum range of fitment factor in the 8th Pay Commission. After this, salary revision of lower level employees can be done every year on performance basis. At the same time, revision of employees with maximum salary can be kept at an interval of 3 years.

When and how much did the salary of the employees increase?

    • Salary hike of central employees in 4th Pay Commission: 27.6% done. In this, his minimum pay scale was fixed at Rs.750.
    • In the 5th Pay Commission, the employees got a big gift and their salary was increased by 31%. Due to this, his minimum wage directly increased to Rs.2550 per month.
    • The fitment factor was implemented in the 6th Pay Commission. This was kept at 1.86 times at that time. Due to this, the employees got the biggest hike in salary. There was an increase of 54% in his minimum salary. Due to this the basic salary increased to Rs.7000.
    • In the year 2014, 7th Pay Commission was formed. Considering the fitment factor as the base, an increase of 2.57 times was made. But, the increment that happened was only 14.29%.

Estimated increase in 8th Pay Commission?

Now after the formation of the 8th Pay Commission, if the government keeps the salary revision on the old scale, then the fitment factor will be considered as the basis in this too. On this basis, the fitment of the employees can be done 3.68 times. On this basis, there can be an increase of 44.44% in the minimum wage of the employees. With this, the minimum salary of the employees can be Rs 26000.

Will 8th Pay Commission come or not?

Now the question is when will the 8th Pay Commission be formed? At present there is no such proposal. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chowdhary also categorically denied this in the Lok Sabha. However, if sources are to be believed, the Pay Commission will be formed when the time comes.

But, now the government has time to consider the new scale of salary hike. That’s why ways are being searched for this. Experts believe that general elections are to be held in the year 2024. In such a situation, the government would not want to anger the employees. But, it is not correct to say that the next pay commission will not come.
