    SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has formed a committee to evaluate bids for the development of a ‘world-class’ amusement park at Tattoo Ground in Srinagar, officials said on Tuesday, The Tribune reported

    “Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of a committee for evaluating bids of the project development of world-class amusement park at Tattoo Ground, Srinagar,” reads the order

    The nine-member committee will be headed by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri.

    Earlier in November 2015, former Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, laid the foundation stone of a citizens’ park in the middle of a 200-acre military garrison at Tattoo Ground.

    Hyderabad: The Nehru Zoological Park experience in the city is going to become more expensive, as the forest department seeks to raise revenue by increasing the admission price.

    The decision was taken during a meeting of the Zoos and Parks Authority of Telangana (ZAPAT) on Tuesday, which was presided over by forests minister A Indrakaran Reddy.

    Adults will now pay Rs 70 on weekdays and Rs 80 on holidays and weekends, while children will pay Rs 45 on weekdays and Rs 55 on holidays and weekends, according to the new pricing system.

    Previously, tickets for adults were priced at Rs 60 on weekdays and Rs 75 on weekends and holidays, while children’s tickets were priced at Rs 40 on weekdays and Rs 50 on weekends and holidays.

    The Forest department, however, has decided to raise the admission price across the board in order to produce more revenue.

    Information on when the new prices will come into effect is not yet known.

    Bhopal: One of the cheetahs translocated to Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park (KNP) from South Africa died on Sunday, a senior forest official said.

    The deceased cheetah ‘Uday’ aged six years.

    Notably, this is the second such incident at KNP in almost a month. Earlier, Namibian cheetah Sasha died due to a kidney ailment on March 27.

    “During the inspection in the morning, a cheetah brought from South Africa was found dull with head down following which veterinarians attending him alerted senior officials and the feline was taken out from the large enclosure for treatment. Unfortunately, around 4 pm, the cheetah passed away,” principal chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) Wildlife, J S Chauhan told PTI.

    The dead cheetah was identified as Uday, another forest official said.

    SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated Tulip Garden at Sanasar, the first such park for Jammu Division, on Saturday.

    Congratulating the tourists and local residents on the occasion, the Lt Governor said the Garden spread over 40 Kanals with 2.75 Lakh Tulip Bulbs of 25 different varieties, situated amid lush green woods in Ramban district will provide major impetus to tourism and trade activities.

    Observing that the tourism potential of Jammu is unique in many ways, the Lt Governor said with breathtaking natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, magnificent cuisine and warm hospitality, it can create a niche for itself on global tourism map and administration is committed to ensure all the necessary infrastructure & resources.

    “As a “Tourism Mission” initiative 75 new destinations, 75 Sufi/religious sites, 75 new cultural, heritage sites and 75 new tracks are being developed in JK UT to open up new economic avenues for fulfilling the aspirations of the people,” said the Lt Governor.

    Development of water parks at twin cities of Jammu & Srinagar, establishment of cultural centres at Ramban, Udhampur, Kathua, Jammu, Rajouri & Poonch will help in building local capacities, boost employment & favourable climate to entrepreneurship, he added.

    There is no dearth of budget for development under the leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji. All the citizens should work together for the progress of the society with a positive approach to build a modern, industrialised and prosperous J&K UT, the Lt Governor said.

    “The administration is working for the Aam Aadmi & inclusiveness is in the centre of our journey to high growth. With participatory governance approach & people’s cooperation we will create better future for the generations to come,” he added.

    LG Sinha said that Rs 447 crore has been allocated to the tourism sector this year to develop JK as a modern and smart tourist destination. Samba Fort, Hari Parbat and General Zorawar Singh Palace will also be renovated to revive the ageless cultural legacy, he added.

    The Lt Governor urged the people, PRI representatives and the youth to actively participate in the Gram Sabha meetings, being organized in all Halka Panchayats of Jammu Kashmir on 10th April to prepare development plan for the Gram Panchayats, he added.

    The Lt Governor said that the construction of the 2.5 km long road from Sana Village to Sanasar will be approved in two months.

    Bengaluru: A young woman, who was sitting in a park with her male friend, was forcibly dragged into a car and gang-raped, police said on Friday.

    The case has been reported in the Koramangala police station limits.

    The police have arrested a gang of four persons in connection with the case. The arrested accused have been identified as Satish, Vijay, Sridhar and Kiran.

    According to police, the incident took place late night of March 25. The young woman was sitting with her male friend at the National Games Village Park. The accused persons threatened her male friend and dragged her into the car.

    The victim told police that she was gang-raped in the moving car. The police said that the accused drove the car to Domlur, Indiranagar, Anekal and Nice Road and committed the crime throughout the night.

    The accused later left her near her residence in the early hours of March 26. After reaching home at 4 a.m, the victim was taken to a hospital, and later lodged a complaint with the police.

    The victim was with her male friend inside NGV when the accused tried to moral police them. Post an argument, the girl’s friend left the spot.

    The accused then dragged the girl into his car with 3 others, raped her all night & dropped her back to her home near Ejipura

    Sheopur: Two more Namibian cheetahs were on Wednesday released into the wild at the Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park (KNP) here, where the felines were translocated from the African country in September 2022, a forest department official said.

    With this, four of the eight cheetahs brought from Namibia have been released into the wild in the park in Sheopur district.

    Elton and Freddie, popularly known as “Rockstars”, were successfully released into the free range area of the park from a large enclosure at around 6.30 pm, Sheopur’s divisional forest officer (DFO) P K Verma told PTI.

    “Both are healthy and doing well,” he said.

    On March 11, two cheetahs — Oban and Asha — were released into the wild, almost six months after they were brought to the KNP.

    Eight Namibian cheetahs — five females and three males — were brought to the KNP as part of a reintroduction programme aimed at reviving the species’ population in India, where they became extinct more than 70 years ago.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi had released the cheetahs — the world’s fastest land animal — in a special enclosure at the park on September 17 last year.

    They were first moved to acclimatization enclosures from quarantine bomas (animal enclosures in November last year. They were later released into hunting enclosures of the park.

    A dozen more cheetahs – seven males and five females were brought to the KNP from South Africa on February 18, 2023. The KNP is now home to 20 cheetahs.

    The Disneyland type amusement park will be spread over 100 acres and will act as a boon for tourism sector in Kashmir

    News18 has reported that the Jammu and Kashmir government wants to hire an international renowned consultancy firm to advice it for development of a theme amusement park in Srinagar. The consultant will do a tour of theme parks managed globally by the likes of Disney, Universal and Ramoji, and study the best practices.

    The vision behind this is “to catalyse growth in tourism sector and attract tourists from across the globe,” the document accessed by News 18 says.

    The site is expected to be the prime location of 100 acres in Srinagar’s Tattoo Ground. JK Directorate of Industries and Commerce will undertake the project and may set up a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for it, News 18 reported.

    The document says the selected consultant in order to gather an understanding of the best practices being adopted by the theme parks across national as well as the global level would prepare a ‘Theme Park Benchmarking Study Report’. For preparing this report, references may be taken from the global and national theme parks.

    “To undertake this exercise and prepare a comprehensive study report a team comprising of government officials and a team of three consultants would visit two global and two national theme parks,” the document says.

    The Festival features a range of activities, like food fairs, and arts and crafts exhibitions, among other activities. Visitors can experience the local traditions, taste the unique cuisine, and explore the natural beauty of the historical Badamwari Park.
