YS Sharmila calls for joint opposition march over TSPSC paper leak

Hyderabad: Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Telangana Party (YSRTP) chief YS Sharmila on Saturday called on opposition leaders for a joint march to Pragati Bhavan over TSPSC paper leak case.

YS Sharmila said she had telephoned Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Chief Revanth Reddy and Telangana Bhartiya Janta Party chief Bandi Sanjay and appealed to join her in the fight against the K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR)-led government that has been deceiving the jobless youth and driving them to suicide and depression.

She said, “It is high time that opposition parties come together, and have a joint action plan to fight against the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) government that is playing with the lives of the unemployed, educated youth.”

“Let us together march towards Pragati Bhavan and bring KCR to the task. If we fail at this moment to come together, then KCR will finish the opposition parties in spirit,” she added.

In the statement, the YSRTP Chief also stated that both the opposition leaders have extended their support.

Responding to the statement, TPCC Vice President Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy said, “Today morning YSRTP President Sharmila has called TPCC President Revanth Reddy in regard to the march towards Pragati Bhavan relating to unemployment issues and the recent paper leak issue. Revanth Reddy has responded and said that he will be talking to the leaders of the Congress party and revert back to her.”

Reacting to the statement of YS Sharmila, BJP Spokesperson NV Subhash said, “As far as the Telangana BJP and our President Bandi Sanjay is concerned, whenever there are issues for the people, he has taken a bold step and gone in support of the people.”

“The Telangana government has literally failed here. The BRS party has promised so many hopes to the people of the state, especially the youth. As far as the TSPSC issue is concerned, it is very unfortunate and we demand a thorough inquiry into it,” he added.

Talking about the investigation, Subhash said, “Definitely, the culprits should be punished. BJP has demanded that around Rs one lakh compensation should be paid to the unemployed youth and there should be an enquiry from a High Court sitting judge.”

“We also demand that KT Rama Rao (KTR) should be sacked from the cabinet. Apart from that, we have heard that YS Sharmila has called for opposition unity on the issue. Definitely, the BJP will discuss it with the state executive members, senior leaders and office bearers. We are expected to call for a meeting and then the party will decide what to do, whether to go on individually or with the other opposition leaders,” he added.

TSPSC on March 15 had cancelled the Assistant Engineers (AE) exam held on March 5, following allegations of the question paper leak.

On March 13, police arrested nine people, including two employees of the TSPSC. Following the arrest of the accused, the Commission cancelled the exam and also postponed other exams scheduled to be held later this month.

TSPSC paper leak: SIT grills key accused for 2nd day

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Telangana Police probing the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) question paper leak case on Monday continued interrogating four of the accused.

Pulidindi Praveen Kumar, Rajashekar Reddy, Lavdyavath Dhakya and Rajeshwar Nayak were brought to the SIT office from CCS office for questioning for the second day.

A city court had on Saturday sent the four accused to police custody for three days. The SIT officials had grilled the accused on Sunday to extract information about the role of the other accused.

This is the second time that SIT has taken the accused into custody. They were also grilled earlier after the court had sent them to police custody for six days.

The SIT, which has already arrested 13 accused, is likely to take some more suspects into custody to widen the scope of investigation.

Praveen Kumar and Rajashekar Reddy, both employees of TSPSC and key accused in the case, were the first to be arrested.

Praveen, who worked as an assistant section officer at TSPSC and Rajashekar Reddy, a network admin at TSPSC, had allegedly stolen question papers of some exams from a computer in the confidential section of the Commission and sold it to other accused.

Along with Praveen and Rajasehkar, police arrested Praveen’s friend Renuka, a teacher and her husband Lavdyavath Dhakya, who took the papers and sold it to others with the help of Kethavath Srinivas, a police constable from Medchal. Kethavath Rajeshwar, Kethavath Neelesh Nayak, Kethavath Rajender Nayak and Pathlavath Gopal Nayak were also arrested on March 13.

Three more accused Shameem, Damera Ramesh Kumar and N. Suresh were arrested on March 23.

Shameem and Rames are employees of TSPSC while Suresh is a former outsourcing employee.

The trio had allegedly scored over 100 marks in Group-I Prelims held in October last year after procuring question papers from the main accused. The SIT has sought custody of three accused for six days.

Prashant Reddy, brother-in-law of Rajashekar Reddy, was arrested on March 25. Prashant Reddy, a contract employee under the rural employment scheme at MPDO office in Nawabpet mandal in Mahabubnagar district, is among those suspected to have illegally accessed the Group-I preliminary paper. Prashant along with three others are suspected to have spent Rs 15 lakh to procure the paper.

The SIT is also questioning all candidates of the Group-I preliminary exam who scored 100 and above marks out of a total of 150 marks.

TSPSC paper leak: 15 who scored over 100 in Group-1 prelims questioned

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: 15 candidates, who scored above 100 marks in the Telangana State Public Service Commission’s (TSPSC) Group 1 preliminary exam were questioned by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Sunday, suspecting them of having access to the leaked papers.

Police officials called the suspects on the mobile numbers submitted by the candidate during the one-time registration (OTR) of TSPSC.

However, no arrests were made on Sunday, confirmed officials.

While speaking to the media, a Group I candidate said, “We were asked to fill out a form with details of our date of birth, occupation, TSPSC one-time registration number and academic credentials.”

“They are checking our background and banking transactions,” the student said after interrogation by the SIT officials.

When asked if he had genuinely scored above 100 marks, he said that it is achievable for those who have prepared for UPSC (civil services) recruitment.

An elderly person, the father of another applicant, revealed that the SIT questioned his son about whether he had any information regarding the leakage before it came to light. He added that his son had estimated a score of 95 marks based on the answer key, but ultimately scored 101 as per the final results.

TSPSC had cancelled the Group 1 preliminary examination after confirming that the question paper was leaked by its staff.

13 persons, including four government employees, in connection with the case, have already been arrested by the police.

TSPSC paper leak: Hyderabad police foils ABVP protest at Osmania univ

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Tension prevails in Osmania University campus after police foiled the rally of Akhila Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) a student organization affiliated to the Bhartiya Janata Party from taking out a rally on Saturday.

Hundreds of students of the ABVP took out rallies to protest against the TSPSC paper leak case demanding the suspension of Dr. B Janardhan Reddy, chairman Telangana State Public Service Commissioner (TSPSC), an enquiry by a sitting judge of Telangana High Court into the alleged paper leak case.

The police had closed all the gates of the Osmania University campus to thwart attempts by ABVP activists. Several activists jumped over the gates to head towards Dharna Chowk where Bhartiya Janata Party leaders are holding a mass dharna on the paper leak case issue.

The police rounded up ABVP leaders and physically bundled them into police vehicles. The activists sat in front of the buses demanding the release of their leaders.

The roads on the campus are closed for general traffic and heavy police force is deployed at Nallakunta, Adikmet, O U police station, Tarnaka, and Vidyanagar.

Hyderabad: The sleuths of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the TSPSC paper leakage case on Saturday served fresh notice to Telangana State BJP Chief Bandi Sanjay at his Banjara Hills residence.

Although SIT served notice to him seeking his appearance on March 24 before the investigating agency, Bandi Sanjay feigned ignorance and denied receiving any notice.

The SIT took cognizance of Sanjay’s statement alleging that several leaders of the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) are involved in the TSPSC exam paper leak that took place over a week ago. He said after obtaining question papers for the TSPSC exams, relatives of chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) managed to get government posts.

In the fresh notice which has been served under CRPC section 91, the SIT has sought Bandi Sanjay’s appearance on March 26 at Himayat Nagar office.

  • Telangana: BJP to stage protest against TSPSC paper leak issue in Hyderabad

Telangana: BJP to stage protest against TSPSC paper leak issue in Hyderabad

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will stage a protest against the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) paper leak issue in Hyderabad on Saturday.

The protest will be held at Indira Park in Hyderabad.

The Telangana High Court on Friday granted permission for 500 people to stage the dharna.

Speaking to ANI, BJP spokesperson NV Subhash said, “The BJP is always with the people and we always raise our voice for the people. We have been constantly raising voices for 8 years that there are so many shortfalls and gaps in the job notifications. There are 30 lakh aspirants who have been preparing for government jobs.”

Unfortunately, the K Chandrashekar Rao government deliberately delayed job notifications because there were no funds in the government departments, the BJP leader said.

He said, “In order to support the 30 lakh job aspirants who are in the doldrums as TSPSC has deliberately leaked the paper, we are staging a dharna. They have been preparing for competitive exams for almost 3-4 years. They are looking forward to getting into government jobs but due to this paper leak, the exams are postponed for four months. In order to support the unemployed youth, the BJP wanted to hold a dharna.”

But the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government as usual, Subhash said did not want the opposition parties to come into the light and support the people.

“We have gone to the High Court and the Court has given us permission from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday for around 500 people. As law-abiding citizens, we will honour and respect the court verdict. A peaceful dharna will be organized where all the state leaders will be coming,” he said.

On Thursday, Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan sought a status report of the alleged TSPSC paper leak case from the top officials of the state.

As per Governor’s instructions, Raj Bhavan wrote to the Telangana Chief Secretary, the TSPSC Secretary and the Director General of Police seeking the latest status of the case within 48 hours.

In the letter, it was asked to furnish a status report on the alleged paper leak case including Special Investigation Team’s investigation status.

The TSPSC was also asked to furnish the details of its regular and outsourcing employees who appeared for examinations with or without permission from the Commission and their performance in the exams and preparatory leave etc.

The Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) on March 15 cancelled the Assistant Engineers (AE) exam held on March 5, following allegations of the question paper leak.

On March 13, police arrested nine people, including two employees of the TSPSC. Following the arrest of the accused, the Commission cancelled the exam and also postponed other exams scheduled to be held later this month.

TSPSC paper leak: Telangana Governor seeks status report

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Thursday sought the latest status report, within 48 hours, on the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) question paper leak case.

On the Governor’s instructions, the Raj Bhavan wrote to the Chief Secretary, the TSPSC and the Director General of Police (DGP) seeking the latest status within 48 hours.

In the letter, it was asked for intimating status report as at present on the alleged leakage including Special Investigation Team’s investigation status, the Raj Bhavan said.

The TSPSC was also asked to furnish the details of its regular and outsourcing employees who appeared for examinations with or without permission from the Commission and their performance in the exams and preparatory leave etc, apart from the present status of the case.

This came a day after the opposition Congress urged the Governor to exercise her special powers to take action in the case.

A delegation of state Congress leaders led by its state chief A. Revanth Reddy had urged her to dissolve the TSPSC until the investigation in the case is completed.

Revanth Reddy had stated that under Article 317 of the Constitution, the Governor has the powers to suspend those in TSPSC who are involved in the paper leak. “Only then can the probe into the case be transparent,” he said.

He said the Governor told the delegation that she will look into the issue and take necessary action after seeking legal opinion.

Paper leak case: KTR sends legal notice to Congress, BJP leaders

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana’s cabinet minister K.T. Rama Rao on Thursday sent legal notice to state Congress chief A. Revanth Reddy and BJP president Bandi Sanjay for making baseless allegations against him in the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) paper leak case.

KTR said he sent legal notice to Congress and BJP leaders for dragging his name into the paper leak case to drive political mileage and defame the government.

The minister slammed both the leaders for being ignorant of the fact TSPSC is a Constitutional body and it works independently.

KTR said TSPSC was formed to independently conduct exams for recruitment of government employees with no role for the government but ignoring these facts, Bandi Sanjay and Revanth Reddy hatched a conspiracy by projecting as if the exams are conducted by the government.

The minister made it clear that he would not tolerate such cheap attempts to drag his name into the case for political mileage.

The BRS leader said with their ridiculous statements in the past both Bandi Sanjay and Revanth Reddy had become a laughing stock in the public.

KTR alleged that Congress and BJP were spreading lies with a conspiracy to stop the process of recruitment of employees.

He said the same leaders had earlier stated that the job notifications issued by the government are a conspiracy and had appealed to youth to leave the exams and join them in politics.
