Teachers’ scam: ED directs salon owner to return Rs 50L taken as loan from Kuntal Ghosh

Kolkata: Soma Chakraborty, the beauty salon owner in Kolkata who purportedly took a loan of Rs 50 lakh from youth Trinamool Congress leader Kuntal Ghosh arrested in connection with the multi-crore teachers’ recruitment scam in West Bengal, will now have to return the money to the government immediately.
Sources said that Chakraborty was on Friday summoned to the ED’s office at central government office (CGO) complex at Salt Lake on the northern outskirts where she was asked to return the amount she took as loan from Ghosh. Sources said that she will have to return the money in the form of a demand draft within the next five days.
Chakraborty’s name surfaced, when the central agency sleuths while examining the bank account details of Ghosh and transactions there traced that an amount of Rs 50 lakh was transferred to her account from that of Ghosh in different phases.
During questioning, Chakraborty told ED officials that she owns two beauty salons, one in south Kolkata and the other in Lake Town area in north Kolkata and she took the amount as loan from Ghosh for the purpose of expansion and infrastructure improvement of those salons.
Sources said that ED officials found an extent of reliability because of her clear-cut submission on this count and then asked her to return that money as it is perceived that the amount she received purportedly as loan was part of the proceeds of the scam collected by Ghosh.
Now the question arises whether the ED will also ask Tollywood actor Bonny Sengupta aka Anupriyo Sengupta, who claimed to have received Rs 40 lakh as loan from Ghosh for purchasing a high-end premium vehicle, to return the money.
Sengupta also claimed that the loan given was adjusted against his performance fees for performing in different events organised by Ghosh. However, at the same time, Sengupta said that the entire arrangement was based on mutual trust and there was no paper-agreement on this count.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is no more owner of his bungalow in Mumbai

Mumbai: All is not well in Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s personal life. The actor is in a legal tussle with his wife Aaliya Siddiqui and it seems that indifferences between the couple is rearing its ugly head again after Aaliya and her children were barred from entering Nawazuddin’s house.
The actor’s estranged wife had shared a video on Thursday on Instagram in which she claimed that Nawazuddin Siddiqui had barred her and her children from entering his house. Reacting to the allegations of her wife, the actor, through his spokesperson, has issued a clarification on the matter.
Actor’s spokesperson has said that Nawazuddin Siddiqui has “already registered the property in his ammi, Mehrunisa Siddiqui’s name”. He said that the decision to not allow Aaliya to enter the house was made by Mehrunisa’s caretaker. The spokesperson added that the house belongs to Mehrunisa and not Nawazuddin.
“Nawaz is devoid of any decision-making power on anyone’s entrance in the property. But the caretaker of Ammi has said that only kids are allowed in the property and only Aaliya is not allowed as the property belongs to Ammi now,” the spokesperson further added speaking to media.
According to the spokesperson’s statement, Aaliya’s claim that she and the kids were barred from entering the house by Nawazuddin is baseless and false as the kids are welcome in the house anytime.The spokesperson also informed that Nawazuddin has brought a flat for Aaliya in Mumbai that she has given for rent.

Hyderabad: Four arrested by police for attacking hotel owner

Hyderabad: The Jawaharnagar police arrested four people on a complaint filed by a fast food joint owner after being attacked allegedly for not serving food on the steel plates.
The accused were identified as Aakash, Vivek, Kalyan, and Amul Raj who had gone to the fast food center on Yapral road for food. After being served in the disposable plates they demanded the workers serve in the steel plates.
On being refused to serve the food on the steel plates, they attacked the hotel workers Vivek and Soya, and the owner, Vikas, and exchanged unpleasantries. The workers received injuries in this incident. Vivek received bleeding injury on his face, and Soya was injured on her head, face, and left leg.
“A case was registered against all the accused and they were taken under custody after identifying them with the help of a closed circuit camera network feed,” said Jawaharnagar Inspector, K Chandrasekhar.
