If PM Modi was nominated, India could have won one more Oscar: KTR

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana industries minister and BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Wednesday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi by saying that India could have won one more Oscar award if the PM was nominated under the best actor category.

Speaking on the Oscar win by the RRR movie team for the ‘Naatu Naatu’ song, the BRS leader mocked the Prime Minister for being a ‘great actor’ for making promises like delivering Rs 15 lakh to every Indian’s bank account.

He also said that the Prime Minister is ‘looting’ the country for the sake of Adani. He also called the BJP the ‘misfortune’ for Telangana.

KTR made these remarks during a public meeting held at the Jukkal constituency in Kamareddy district.

“What did the Congress do for the state in the last 55 years? Why should a chance be given to leaders who haven’t done anything when they had the chance? The BJP had also promised many things for Telangana during the bifurcation like the Kajipet coach factory and the Bayyaram steel plant but has terribly failed in delivering them. Alas, they still come here and speak shamelessly,” he remarked.

The minister also attacked PM Modi-led centre for a hike in the LPG prices. “Centre increased the petrol price from Rs 70 to Rs 115 per litre. The gas cylinder is now Rs 1200 from the earlier Rs 400. Prices of all essential commodities went up. So, is Modi God for doing all these injustices? He is only God to Adani but not for the people of Telangana,” KTR said.

Earlier, KTR laid the foundation stone for Nagamadugu lift irrigation project and also inaugurated a bridge built on the Manjeera river.

Piyush Goyal links RRR’s Oscar win to PM Modi; Congress mocks

    [ad_1]

Leader of Opposition and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge while congratulating the Oscar winners – The Elephant Whisperers Netflix documentary and Naatu Naatu song from the Telugu-movie RRR – in Rajya Sabha on Monday in a lighter note ‘requested’ Central Government not to take the credit for the wins.

Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Kharge said, “I also join to congratulate both the awardees – Naatu Naatu and Elephant Whisperers – both of them come from South India. It is a great pride for us. We are also very proud of whatever you have said, we are with you.”

“But my only request is that the ruling party should not take credit saying we have directed, we have written the poem, Modiji has directed the film. That is my only request. It is a contribution of the country,” Kharge said.

His sarcastic remarks were met with roaring laughter from the House, including BJP leaders like Food Minister Piyush Goyal who had earlier drawn a parallel between the Academy Awards and PM Modi’s choice for the Rajya Sabha nominations. Piyush said that the PM’s chose “outstanding personalities” for Rajya Sabha with his “stamp of quality” in the nominations.

In a Facebook post titled “Rajya Sabha Nominations – An Oscar for Prime Minister’s Office”, Goyal listed the names of the nominees for the Rajya Sabha.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji has left his stamp of quality in nominating members to the Rajya Sabha by choosing outstanding personalities who have made a mark in diverse fields such as Indian culture, social work and sports,” the minister wrote.

“Shri V. Vijayendra Prasad, the scriptwriter of the film RRR, is one of the several exceptional people whom the Prime Minister nominated to the Rajya Sabha in July 2022. The scriptwriter from Andhra Pradesh has been associated with the creative world for decades. Last year, Prime Minister Modi ji recognised his greatness and said “his works showcase India’s glorious culture and have made a mark globally.” Today, the global spotlight is on ‘RRR’ for winning an Oscar for the original song ‘Naatu Naatu’. This is a global endorsement of the Prime Minister’s choice,” he elaborated.

  • Oscar winner Guneet Monga’s teacher recalls her as ‘highly creative’

Oscar winner Guneet Monga’s teacher recalls her as ‘highly creative’

    [ad_1]

Lucknow: Oscar winner Guneet Monga has a Lucknow connection.

Prof Govind Pandey, the Dean of the department of mass communication and journalism of the School of Media and Communication at Dr Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, was proud to share that he taught Guneet at Madhu Bala Institute of Communication and Electronic Media (MBICEM) affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in 2002.

“Guneet Monga was a student of Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication at MBICEM where I taught television journalism and was supervising the short films at the institute as well,” Prof Pandey said.

He further said, “She was creative since college days and actively participated in cocurricular activities. I pray Guneet motivates others to make meaningful documentaries. As a teacher, I pray that she gets more and more awards and motivates many more young filmmakers to make meaningful documentary films. Her Oscar-winning film is a great example of the peaceful living of humans, and animals in their natural habitat.”

Zoologist Gyaneshwar Shukla said, “Elephant Whisperers” that won Guneet an Oscar, is a very informative documentary depicting our wildlife heritage and man-animal especially pachyderm coexistence and sustainability of social eco-system. Unfortunately, our universities are producing hundreds of graduates, postgraduates and doctorates in zoology but not a single zoologist can match this production. This can serve as an eye-opener to change and modify curricula to encourage more such productions as we have the richest biodiversity and legacy of living with our animals.”

    This is Monga’s second Oscar.

Earlier, she had won it in 2019 for ‘Period. End Of Sentence’, in Documentary Short category. Monga was the executive producer for ‘Period’.

Why did “Lightyear” fail according to Pixar? It failed at the box office and lost the Oscar.

    [ad_1]

The “Toy Story” spin-off “Lightyear” slumped sharply after its second week in theaters. The tape never went back to come back and the hopes of making more sequels disappeared.

“Lightyear”, the new Disney-Pixar movie, brought back the world of “Toy story”. The choice of Chris Evans as the lead had raised hopes and the nostalgia factor seemed like a trump card in favor of the production. However, the result was completely different than expected.

“It settles for being a fairly conventional origin story rather than reaching for the stars,” the reviewer on Rotten Tomatoes ruled. “It doesn’t measure up to ‘Toy Story,’ lamented the public. Ultimately, the Academy of the Oscars decided that it would not have a chance to compete for its awards.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=

In this regard, the head of Pixar, Peter Docter, spoke about the failure that “Lighyear” meant for the company. Although they liked the story and the characters, it had been difficult for the public to see a project outside the ‘Toy Story’ canon.

“We concluded that what’s probably gone wrong is that we’ve pushed the audience too hard. When they hear Buzz, they’re like, ‘Great, where’s Mr. Potato Head and Woody and Rex?’ And then we give them this sci-fi movie, so they say ‘what?’” he detailed in an official statement.

Director of “Lightyear” against the haters

Through Twitter, the director Angus MacLane broke his silence on the situation and made it clear that he is tired of the controversy, as well as the attacks on social networks. Despite this, he is happy with the work that the production has done:
