    SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the marathon organised by Hindustan Scouts and Guides, Dogra Kranti Dal and Kashmir Road Safety Foundation on the eve of 100th episode of PM Narendra Modi’s monologue ‘Mann Ki Baat’.

    100 marathons were organised today across JK to celebrate 100th episode of PM Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat radio programme, and raise awareness and strengthen action and cooperation against drug abuse and drug trafficking.

    The Lt Governor expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inspiring the youth of the country through Mann Ki Baat to overcome challenges and set the ambitious goal in life. Prime Minister has brought together youth from different backgrounds with a single dream of nation building, he added.

    “India’s greatest strength is its unity in diversity. Through Mann Ki Baat programme Prime Minister has inspired the people to take pride in their heritage and acknowledged remarkable contribution of scientists, teachers, litterateurs, artistes in raising India’s stature in the world,” Sinha said.

    Addressing the youth on the occasion, the Lt Governor said, people from different walks of life have joined the fight against drug menace.

    “Today, the youth of Jammu Kashmir have stood up against drug abuse. I am confident that our collective efforts will eliminate the narco-terrorism unleashed by neighboring country and lead the way for realising the goals of building a drug free Jammu Kashmir, observed the Lt Governor.

    Inflation relief camps to be organised in Rajasthan from Monday: CM Gehlot

    Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will inaugurate inflation relief camps, to be organised in the state from April 24 to June 30 with an aim to provide relief to people from rising prices, officials said on Sunday.

    The chief minister will launch the camp at Mahapura village panchayat of Sanganer here on Monday.

    In a statement, Gehlot said that the main objective of these camps is to empower the common people by giving them complete information about their rights, schemes and their eligibility.

    The general public and the deprived sections will be provided relief from inflation by connecting them with the public welfare schemes of the state government.

    He said that the common people will get the benefit of 10 public welfare schemes in the camps, which will provide relief from the rising inflation.

    Registration has been made mandatory in the camps to join the 10 public welfare schemes run by the state government. For the convenience of the common people, a person from any district can register in the camps of other districts also through the Rajasthan government’s Jan Aadhar card, he said.

    In the state, 2,000 permanent inflation relief camps will be set up by the district administration at government offices and public places.

    A two-day inflation relief camp will be organised in 11,283 gram panchayats and 7,500 wards each as per the calendar.

    Adequate counters will be set up in these camps for registration and distribution of the Chief Minister’s Guarantee Cards’.

    In another decision, the state government has made a provision of Rs 592 crore under various schemes for farmers’ welfare.

    Gehlot has approved the proposal for financial provisions to ensure the progress of the farmers, an official statement said.

    Rs 4.50 crore has been allocated for spraying nano urea by drone. At the same time, 5 lakh landless labourers will be given a grant of Rs 5,000 per family to buy manual agricultural machinery. In this, the state government will spend Rs 250 crore.

    In the financial year 2023-24, the state government will provide agricultural machinery worth Rs 250 crore to one lakh farmers. Along with this, a grant of up to Rs 4 lakh will be given to agriculture course graduate unemployed youths for providing 1,000 drones.

    Drones will also be made available to the Farmers Production Organization (FPO) and Custom Hiring Centers. A provision of Rs 588 crore has been made from the Farmers Welfare Fund and Rs 4.60 crore (state share) under the National Agriculture Development Scheme in all these schemes by the state government.

    Visakhapatnam: Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) organised Mock G20 Conclave at Andhra University on Friday.

    Donning the role of representatives of G20 member countries, an army of retired Professors, GVMC brand ambassadors, foreigners and students, attended the mock G20 meeting at Andhra University Convocation Hall that aimed at understanding the work and procedures of the G20 Council, its objectives and structure, etc.

    Ahead of G20 working group committee meeting scheduled to be held on March 28-29 under the G20 India presidency, a host of events have been organised under ‘Jan Bhagidari’ curtain raiser events.

    GVMC Commissioner P Raja Babu said that the GVMC is organising a series of programmes ahead of the global event to engage citizens.

    He announced that most of the beautification works in the city are near completion. Babu said that it is a very prestigious moment for Visakhapatnam to host the G20 working group committee meeting.

    Bengaluru: To create awareness on kidney health, the Manipal Hospitals in Bengaluru organised a second edition — bean-shaped (kidney) Cyclothon 2.0 in Bengaluru on Sunday.

    Divided into two loops covering 100 km, the Cyclothon was completed in 2.5 hours, where the first loop covered 47 km, starting from Old Airport Road, passing through Millers Road, Malleshwaram, Yeshwanthpur, Hebbal, and returning to Old Airport Road.

    The second loop covered 53 km, starting from Old Airport Road, and on to Whitefield, Varthur Road, Sarjapur, Jayanagar, and back to Old Airport Road.

    The cyclothon was joined by over 600 participants including doctors, 10 celebrities, and 23 influencers who participated and used their voice to spread the message of kidney health, preventive interventions, and enhanced accessibility to kidney care across the city.

    Prominent Sandalwood celebrities, including Praveen Tej, Manvita Kamath, Vikky, Arun, Nagabhusana, Sonu Gowda, Vasuki Vaibhav, Shwetha Shrivastav, Kushee Ravi and Amrutha Iyengar stepped forward to support the cause.

    Dr. H. Sudarshan Ballal, Chairman, Manipal Hospitals flagged off the event at Manipal Hospital Old Airport Road, followed by Hospital Directors in their respective units across Bengaluru.

    “We have a large number of hospitals in different parts of the city that could connect the dots in the shape of a kidney. And what better form of awareness event could be other than a cyclothon to promote kidney health?” he said.

    The cyclothon concluded with a pledge to support kidney health.

    This event also expressed gratitude towards the collaborative efforts of nephrologists and urologists who work together to provide the best possible care.

    SRINAGAR: Prayers were organised in all the major mosques, shrines and imambarahs of the valley including the historic Central Jamia Masjid Srinagar, for those who lost their lives in the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria earlier this week.

    The devastation following the massive earthquake continues to spread, as the death toll in Turkey and Syria crosses 21,000.

    At Jama Masjid Srinagar, the prayers were led by Imam Hai Moulana Ahmad Saeed Naqshbandi, who on behalf of the people of Kashmir, expressed sympathy and solidarity with the people of Turkiye and Syria and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls and speedy recovery to those injured.

    He also expressed strong resentment against the authorities for keeping the valley’s top religious leader Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq continuously under detention for the last three and a half years, and termed it extremely unfortunate and condemnable, Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid said in a statement.

    He said that due to the continued detention of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, the mimbar-o-mihrab (pulpit) of the Central Jama Masjid has been constantly silent for all these years and he is also unable to discharge his religious duties towards the people.

    Imam Naqshbandi appealed to the authorities to end the prolonged and unjustified detention of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir and release him before Shab-e-Mehraj-ul-Nabi- PBUH.

    On the occasion, the people who had come from various parts of the valley to perform Friday prayers in the Jama Masjid also expressed great anger against the continued detention of Mirwaiz and protested against the ‘dictatorial behaviour of the authorities’, the statement added.

    Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police arrested eight people for ‘procuring women” from across India and luring them into prostitution at different hotel rooms in the city.

    The accused were involved in four cases of prostitution and used websites like Skokka.in, Locanto, Vivastreet etc and operated their business out of Hyderabad. Further, the accused used WhatsApp to promote organised prostitution.

    The accused have a past record of being involved in cases under Section 370 (A) (Buying or disposing of any person as a slave) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections 3, 4, 5, 6 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.

    The anti human trafficking unit arrested accused Mohit Satpal Garg, Jai Saha, Zanwar Vishal, Sohail Ahmed, Mohammed Khaleel, Muntha Srikanth, Mulla Nasrin and Mehedi Das.

    The above accused are have been booked under the Madhapur and Gachibowli police station limits. 31 smart phones, four keypad phones, five laptops, two Aadhar cards, pan cards and other bank cards were taken from them.
