Manipuris organise protest in Guwahati against violence in home state

    [ad_1]

Guwahati: Natives of Manipur, including a large number of students, held a protest in Guwahati on Friday in the wake of the violence that paralysed the state for the last few days.

The protesters said that unauthentic information has been peddled which is causing a state of confusion.

“We are very worried about the situation there. As the internet services snapped off in many parts of Manipur, wrong information has been circulating in the social media that is creating a state of panic among us who are living far from home,” a student who took part in the protest said.

    MS Education Academy

The protesters demanded that the government must ensure that peace returns in Manipur at the earliest.

Meanwhile, a section of protesters alleged that the Manipur government’s intention to implement National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the state is behind the outbreak of the violence.

A protester said: “The issue is not with granting ST status to the Meitei community. The NRC is the basic cause of the recent conflict.”

Notably, following the High Court’s directive to grant Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to non-tribal Meitei community in Manipur has reopened a decade-old faultline between the hill tribes and Meitei community.

A protest march organised by All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM) turned violent in the border area of Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts when the demonstrators clashed with a group of local people there.

According to reports, following the clashes, a few unidentified miscreants set ablaze houses belonging to a particular group. After that, unrest spread in many locations including the state capital Imphal.

  • Telangana: T-SAVE to organise hunger strike on April 17

Telangana: T-SAVE to organise hunger strike on April 17

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The Telangana Students’ Action for Vacancies and Employment (T-SAVE), that was proposed and floated by YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) as an umbrella organisation, announced a daylong hunger strike by all opposition parties at Indira Park on April 17.

The hunger strike was announced at its inaugural roundtable meeting on Monday in Hyderabad.

Speaking at the event, Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Telangana Party (YSRTP) chief YS Sharmila blamed both the state and central governments for allegedly failing to meet the expectations of the students and the unemployed youth. “KCR has failed to generate a single job during this term, and despite carving new districts and mandals, there has been no effort made to fill vacancies and address the growing administrative needs,” she added.

    MS Education Academy

“This figure stands at close to 4 lakhs, while the Biswal Committee’s recommendation to fill up 1.91 lakh vacancies has fallen on deaf ears. Inside the Assembly, the CM puts the vacancies at 80,000, then the notification is issued for barely 40,000 jobs and finally exams are held for 8000 posts. The fate of these too are indefinite after the paper leakage,” said the YSRTP president.

Sharmila added that her party will stage a hunger strike for a day at Indira Park to “bring this government to task” and put pressure and force it to deliver justice to the youth.

She also demanded that the Biswal Committee recommendations be immediately implemented, and a CBI enquiry be called to look into the paper leakages. “If KCR fails, why doesn’t the BJP government launch the CBI probe?” she added.

Listing the demands of T-SAVE Sharmila said, “Skill development should be prioritised, Nirudyoga Bhruthi (pension for the unemployed youth) be immediately disbursed, fees reimbursement dues be cleared, and corporation loans be facilitated to turn youth into self-made entrepreneurs”.

T-SAVE also demanded that the Central government give clarity on its commitment to 2 crore jobs annually. “They have deceived Telangana on IIM, coach factory, steel factory, tribal university and many other bifurcation related promises. These would have generated employment for the state youth,” Sharmila said.

Speaking on the occasion, TPCC official spokesperson Addanki Dayakar lashed out at the KCR government for “concentrating” on liquor business rather than students’ future. “His failure and recklessness in paper leakage is unpardonable, while his son is a classic case of inefficiency. The vacancies stand at 2.20 lakhs in the state and KCR’s tall talk about Rs 4 lakh crore budget is a sham and ham,” alleged Dayakar.

“KCR’s rule is all about corruption, scandals, and scams. We support T-SAVE and stand by the side of the youth,” he said.

  • BJP to organise protests across Rajasthan to corner Cong govt

BJP to organise protests across Rajasthan to corner Cong govt

    [ad_1]

Jaipur: The BJP will organise protest demonstrations in all districts of the state against various issues including paper leaks, law and order and women safety in coming days.

Newly appointed BJP state president CP Joshi said the party will create a movement against the “anti-people policies” of the Congress government.

The issues and strategy to corner the Ashok Gehlot government were discussed in a meeting of office-bearers held at the party’s state headquarters here on Sunday.

    MS Education Academy

It was the first state party meeting after Chittorgarh MP CP Joshi took charge as the state unit president, succeeding Satish Poonia.

“The Congress party has always done the politics of division. It was under the Congress rule that the massacre of Sikhs took place in 1984. Terrorists also got patronage and protection during the Congress government,” Joshi alleged in the meeting.

He said that in peace-loving Rajasthan, the government over the past four-and-a-half years has given protection to people who have been spoiling harmony.

Joshi also accused Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot of doing politics of appeasement.

He said Chief Minister Gehlot talks about winning 156 seats in the 2023 assembly elections, while Congress MLAs and ministers have raised question marks on his current tenure. “So there is no possibility of repeating a Congress government”.

“The Congress could win only 21 and 56 seats in the assembly after the two terms of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. The people of Rajasthan will give an answer to the Congress government in the 2023 assembly elections. The BJP will get a huge mandate,” he said.

BJP national general secretary and state in-charge Arun Singh shared the party’s poll action plan with the office-bearers presidents of various state party units, district in-charge and district presidents.

Co in charge Vijaya Rahatkar and other leaders were also present in the meeting.

A meeting of BJP legislators and core committee was also held later.

Kerala: UDF, Congress organise marches across Wayanad constituency

    [ad_1]

Wayanad: Members of the United Democratic Front (UDF) on Sunday took out a torch march in Thiruvambady in Kerala’s Wayanad constituency against the Central government in the wake of the disqualification of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha who was representing the seat in Parliament.

Several protest marches are being organised by Congress and UDF across the constituency against Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification.

In Kozhikode, Muslim Youth League also conducted a light march.

The procession inaugurated by IUML state president Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal was carried out with the slogan ‘democracy in danger, support Rahul’.

MYL is the youth wing of the major political party in Kerala, IUML.

The Congress on Sunday began a day-long nationwide “Sankalp Satyagraha” in support of Rahul Gandhi following his disqualification from the Lok Sabha.

Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, senior leaders KC Venugopal, P Chidambaram and Salman Khurshid were among the party’s top brass taking part in the satyagraha at Rajghat.

Congress organised various protests in several states including Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.

In Karnataka also, Youth Congress Workers hold a ‘Mashal March’ in Bengaluru against the Central government in the wake of the disqualification of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha.

However, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra from Delhi Raj Ghat trained her guns on the ruling BJP and vowed to keep fighting for the people at the party’s Sankalap Satyagraha to protest against the move to disqualify her brother and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

“Who thinks that they can silence us by scaring and humiliating us? Listen, we will not stop, I will see to it that the hard-earned money of the public is not being looted and given to few people,” Priyanka Gandhi said in a hard-hitting attack on the ruling party at the Centre.

“It was my family (Nehru-Gandhi) who nurtured the democracy of this country with their blood,” she said.

Rahul Gandhi, on Friday, was disqualified as a member of the Lok Sabha, a day after a Surat court sentenced him to two years imprisonment in a defamation case filed against him over his ‘Modi surname’ remark.

The decision came pertaining to his remark made in April 2019, where he had said “how come all the thieves have Modi as the common surname” at a Lok Sabha election rally at Kolar in Karnataka. The court approved Gandhi’s bail on a surety and stayed the sentence for 30 days to allow him to approach the higher courts.

“My brother went to PM Modi and hugged him in the Parliament and said he has no hatred for you. We might have different ideologies but we do not have the ideology of hatred,” the Congress General Secretary said at Raj Ghat.

“You (BJP) talk about ‘Pariwarvaad’, I want to ask who was Lord Ram. Was he ‘Pariwarvaadi’, or were the Pandavas ‘Pariwarvaadi’ just because they fought for the culture of their family? Should we be ashamed because our family members fought for the people of the country?” she said.

Male activists in Bangalore organise special ‘puja’ for Elon Musk

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: A group of male activists from the Save Indian Family Federation (SIFF) NGO, which fights for men’s rights, organised a special ‘puja’ here for Tesla and Twitter CEO Elon Musk and thanked him for purchasing the micro-blogging platform “allowing men to express their views against the oppression of authorities”.

The video of the incident that took place in the city’s Freedom Park has gone viral on social media.

In a Twitter post on Monday, the NGO said that “men’s Activists of SIFF used to be often shadow banned from Twitter by previous woke admins of the company”.

“After Elon Musk fired them, the MRAs have got back their right to free speech.”

The “special worshipping” was done on the sidelines of a protest against PILs on marital rape in the Supreme Court.

The post by the activists stated “SIFF members are worshipping guru Elon Musk in Bengaluru, India for purchasing Twitter and allowing men to express their views against the oppression of authorities”.

The activists were seen in the video with banners that read “mens lives matters” and “men have a right to peaceful existence”

The members lit incense sticks before a portrait of the tech billionaire and chanted “Elan Muskaya Namaha”, “Elon Musk ki Jaia, “Elon Musk se kuch seekho Adani, Ambani”.

SIFF members maintained that laws on rape, domestic violence and dowry are biased against men which are leading to lodging of false cases against them.

“The law is twisted to create fear among men rather than delivering justice to the victims. The members clarified that at the same time they are not against the laws relating to sexual violence in marriage or relationship, they are concerned with the abuse of laws,” they added.
