  • Baghi Mehtab Prostitution Racket Fallout: District Admin Srinagar Orders Property Owners/Landlords to Furnish of Tenant Details

Baghi Mehtab Prostitution Racket Fallout: District Admin Srinagar Orders Property Owners/Landlords to Furnish of Tenant Details

    [ad_1]

Srinagar, Apr 5: Coming close on the heels of busting of a rough trade in Bagh-e-Mehtab locality, District Magistrate Srinagar on Wednesday ordered the property owners/landlords to furnish details of tenants putting up in the properties anywhere in the district, within a period of ten days.

Citing a letter by Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar the District Magistrate said that the recent incident in Bagh-e-Mehtab has necessitated conducting the verification of the tenants as the district has a good number of people from other places putting up all across.

“Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar, vide his letter No. 01-23/12741-42 dated: 03-4-2023 and No. CS/01-23/12910-12, dated: 04-04.2023 has reported that Srinagar being a capital city, a good number of people from other places are putting up in the District Srinagar in the rented accommodation. Investigation in multiple incidents of social crime including theft/burglary has revealed that the persons involved in such activities have been staying as tenants in Srinagar city which poses a danger to the ordinary Citizens. On April, 3rd, 2023 an incident of immoral trafficking came to the fore in the Bagh-i-Mehtab area of Srinagar city falling within the jurisdiction P/S Channapora. During the preliminary investigations it has been divulged that accused persons hail from outside of District Srinagar and had hired a private house in the said area. Further, the house-owner, where the illicit racket was busted, had not conducted tenant verification and whereas, the surfacing of the racket has evoked outrage among the public circles having a tendency to become a law and order issue thus necessitating putting in place measures for stopping such illicit / immoral activities”, reads the content of the order, a copy of which lies with GNS.

“Whereas time and again it has also been brought to the notice of undersigned that few incidents of acid attack/eve teasing have occurred in the recent past in the District which are in turn damaging the social fabric of society thus calling for putting the deterrence measures in place. SSP, Srinagar vide above mentioned communication/s has requested that there is an imminent need to conduct verification of tenants staying in rented accommodations in various parts of the city as there have been instances of social crimes and illicit activities”, it reads.

“Whereas, SSP, Srinagar vide above mentioned communication/s has requested that there is an imminent need to conduct verification of tenants staying in rented accommodations in various parts of the city as there have been instances of social crimes and illicit activities. It is necessary that some steps are taken to make the landlords, property owners accountable before renting out or making available their premises to tenants, so that such criminals / anti-social /anti-national elements in the guise of tenants do not succeed in the Commission of crime in the Community.”

“Whereas, I consider the threat being posed by such anti-social elements as an imminent apprehended danger to public safety and security that warrants immediate preventive measures”, the order reads.

“Now, therefore, for the reasons stated in the preceding paras, and in exercise of powers vested in me under various Sections of Cr.P.C, I, District Magistrate, Srinagar do hereby order and require all landlords, owners of properties, attorney holders, persons in-charge of premises in any capacity (hereafter called as building owners) located in the entire jurisdiction of District Srinagar to comply strictly with the following directions: a) All Building Owners shall after the issuance of this order and within ten days of letting/ sub-letting / renting out his/her house or part thereof to any tenant(s), submit without fail the detailed particulars of the tenant(s) to be signed by both the owner and the tenant(s) to the concerned Police Station, either in person or by registered post addressed to the concerned Station House Officer; b) The Building Owners who have already let/sub-let/rented out their house(s) or part(s) thereof to any tenant on any date prior to issuance of this order, shall within ten days after the issuance of this order submit without fail the detailed particulars of the tenants to the concerned police station; c) All arrangements of letting or sub-letting the property like “paying Guest” tenants etc, shall be covered by this order; d) Every SHO in Srinagar District shall maintain a separate register for such purpose.”

“This order shall come into force with immediate effect and it shall remain in force for a period of 60 days, unless withdrawn earlier. Any violation of this order shall invite punitive action under Section 188 of Indian Penal Code, 1860 and other relevant sections of the Cr.P.C”, reads the order adding the Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar will implement this order. Court Orders Probe Into Srinagar Resident’s Fraud Complaint Against Conman

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: A court in Srinagar has ordered “preliminary enquiry” into an application by a resident of Rambagh Srinagar, alleging defrauding of Rs 18 Lakh by three persons including Kiranbhai Patel who posed as a PMO official and enjoyed high security protocols prior to his arrested last month.

“From the contents of application as well as from the material on record, it appears that the complainant has been cheated by the accused and on false pretensions has been made to pay amount of Rs 18 lakhs in two installments at Pratap Park Srinagar and Chai Jai Restaurant Srinagar,” court of City Judge Srinagar said.

“In view of the nature of allegations leveled against the accused, it appears that cause of justice will be reserved if concerned police station is directed to conduct detailed P.E (preliminary enquiry) before formal investigation for veracity of the facts projected in the application,” the court said in an order, a copy of which lies with GNS, and directed the SHO of Police Station Kothibagh to conduct preliminary enquiry in the matter and submit detailed report before it by or before the next date on April 15. The two other persons named in the compliant include Shailesh Jain and Piyush Jain, both residents of Kolkata.

According to the complaint filed through advocate Amir Masoodi, Patel revealed his name as Chetan Prakash resident of Begumpur, North West Delhi and projected himself as managing partner at the particular company dealing in areca nuts.

The resident has alleged that he paid Rs.18 lakh in two instalments following the interactions with Patel at Pratap Park Srinagar and at the Chai Jai restaurant in Srinagar last year.

Patel was arrested on March 2 for posing as a senior official in the Prime Minister’s Office. He had managed to get Z-category security protocol during his visits to the valley and attended several official meetings. Patel had also visited many sensitive areas, including the Line of Control in Uri sector.

Pertinently, on March 29, the government ordered inquiry into the various aspects related to the visits of “Kiran Patel” who conned the security establishment in J&K into believing him to be a PMO official and enjoyed five star protocol “brazenly” for a considerable period of time prior to his arrest.

The inquiry is being conducted by Divisional Commissioner Srinagar and he is required to submit a report within a week.

Bahraich: Four persons, including an in-charge inspector, have been booked on court orders for corruption among other allegations, an official said on Saturday.

The Superintendent of Police (SP) has handed over the investigation of the case to police Circle Officer Payagpur, it said.

Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Kunwar Gyananjay Singh told PTI that in compliance with an order from the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), an FIR has been registered against four people, including SHO Rajesh Kumar Singh, a police constable and two others on Thursday at Jarwal Road police station.

    MS Education Academy

They have been booked under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation), 452 (house trespass) and 427 (mischief causing damage) of the IPC and sections 7 and 13 of the prevention of corruption act.

The Circle Officer of Payagpur has been entrusted with the investigation of the matter, he said.

According to Kulbhushan Mishra, the counsel for Sunita, a resident of Gram Panchayat Bambaura, she had filed a case in the CJM Court stating that she has a land dispute with the Bambhora Cooperative Sugarcane Society, which is pending in the High Court, but the secretary and staff of the committee tried to forcefully evict them from their land despite the pendency of the case.

The counsel for Sunita alleged that on March 1, 2022, sugarcane committee secretary Deepak Verma and employee Awadhesh Kumar tried to forcefully evict Sunita and her husband from their house and land.

When Sunita approached the police station, instead of helping, the station in-charge inspector Rajesh Singh and police constable Pratap Singh etc. abused her husband and beat him.

  • Italy orders OpenAI to stop processing users’ data else face fine

Italy orders OpenAI to stop processing users’ data else face fine

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Italian regulators have ordered Microsoft-owned OpenAI to immediately stop the processing of Italian users’ data to general AI models.

The Italian regulator Garante said it’s concerned that the ChatGPT maker is breaching the European Union’s (EU) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and has opened a probe.

OpenAI will have to notify the Italian regulators within 20 days of the measures implemented to comply with the order, otherwise a fine of up to 20 million euros or 4 per cent of its total worldwide annual turnover may be imposed.

“There is no way ChatGPT can continue to process data in breach of privacy laws. The Italian SA has imposed an immediate temporary limitation on the processing of Italian users’ data by OpenAI, the US-based company developing and managing the platform. An inquiry into the facts of the case was initiated as well,” the regulator noted.

OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, late last month admitted that some users’ payment information may have been exposed earlier this week when it took ChatGPT offline owing to a bug.

It’s worth noting that OpenAI does not have a legal entity established in the EU.

Any data protection authority can intervene under the GDPR if it sees risks to local users.

Finally, the Italian regulators emphasised that the lack of age verification mechanism exposes children to receiving responses that are absolutely inappropriate to their age and awareness, even though the service is allegedly addressed to users aged above 13 according to OpenAI’s terms of service.

OpenAI was yet to respond to the Italian regulator’s order.
