UAE: Boat operator charged with negligence after Indian expat’s death

Abu Dhabi: Following the death of a 38-year-old expat from Kerala in a vessel capsizing incident, police in Sharjah have charged the management of the tourist boat company for negligence and arrested onboard staff members on duty, a media report said.
According to Khaleej Times, authorities in Sharjah have also launched a crackdown on several other tourist boat operators violating security and safety procedures.
Abhilash had gone boating with his colleagues when the accident took place off Khor Fakkan beach last week, killing him and injuring four others, including a seven-year-old child.

“The management of the tourist boat company behind the fatal accident has been charged with negligence and referred to the public prosecution,” the Khaleej Times reported, citing Sharjah Police.
Maj-Gen Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of the Sharjah Police, said that following the incident, an emergency response team was dispatched to the site, and a probe by them revealed that overloading was the cause of the accident.
There were 16 passengers on the boat when the accident took place, whereas the vessel could accommodate a maximum of 10 people.
Multiple rescue teams, including the police and paramedics, rushed to the spot.
The investigation showed that the company took in more people to make higher profits, the Khaleej Times reported.

Following the probe’s outcome, the boat’s management and all staff on duty were arrested.
Police, meanwhile, have issued a warning to all other boat operators in the Emirate to carry out safety checks.
Maj-Gen Al Shamsi ordered the boat operators to strictly follow safety and security guidelines.
Abhilash’s body is presently being kept at the mortuary in Khor Fakkan Hospital.
He is survived by his wife and daughter.

JCB Operator Killed As Avalanche Strike Sinthan Top

SRINAGAR: A JCB operator, engaged with clearance of snow over Sinthan Top, a popular mountain pass located between Breng Valley in Kokernag in Anantnag district and Kishtwar district of Chenab Valley, died after he came under an avalanche on Tuesday, official sources said.
They said that a number of JCBs were engaged to clear snow in the area and suddenly an avalanche occurred, sweeping them away. While a few, working as operators, managed their way out, a few were swept away. Immediately a massive rescue operation was launched under supervision of Tehsidar Larnoo along with SHO Larnoo.
So far the body of one JCB operator has been recovered while searches are underway for possible missing person(s), they said.
An officer of the administration said that initial reports suggest that two persons among those engaged for snow clearance were missing but exact details are still being verified. “Rescue operation is still underway and we are trying to locate any missing person.”
Meanwhile, the officer identified the deceased JCB operator as Javid Ahmad Zagoo (35) son of Abdul Aziz Zagoo of Larnoo. (GNS)

Excavator Slips Into Chenab, Operator Feared Dead

SRINAGAR: A moving soil excavator rolled down into Chenab river in Doda on Friday morning causing apprehension about the death of driver.
Quoting an official, GNS reported that a soil excavator (JCB) rolled down into river Chenab at Shiva Dal bridge near Prem Nagar in Doda this morning.
Identifying the driver as Rahul Sharma, son of Govind Ram, a resident of Dharamthal Chenani, the official said that soon after the accident a rescue operation was launched at the site.
Police along with SDRF and civil administration has launched a joint operation, but the operator who drowned has not been located as of yet.
“Given the nature of the accident, it is highly unlikely that the driver would be alive”, he said adding “We nonetheless are making every possible effort to see if he could be rescued safely.” (GNS)

Ramban Landslide: JCB Operator Dies, Official Regrets Misinformation

Srinagar, Mar 7 (GNS): A JCB operator has died after he came under debris of a major landslide in Seeri area in Ramban district, an official said.
Regretting the misinformation, after earlier having said that the JCB operator escaped narrowly, the official said that they had previously thought there was no causality, however on verification it turned out that one person identified as Surjeet Singh son of Sher Singh of Sumber has died in the incident.
Those injured in the incident were occupying a car, he said adding their identities are as; Mohammad Taj, son of Mohammad Ishaq, resident of Kalakote Rajouri; Abdul Hamid son of Suba; Rubeena Begum wife of Mohammad Shafiq, Sakeena Begum wife of Reyaz Ahmed; Salma Banii, daughter of Reyaz Ahmed, Mohammad Amir, son of Mohammad Shafeeq – residents of Moonglu Rajouri.
All the injured persons are undergoing treatment at a nearby health facility, he further said.
Meanwhile, it has been learnt that the highway remains closed for any vehicular traffic – on filing of this report. (GNS)

Issuance of Admit Cards to the candidates for Computer Based Type Test (Skill Test)
scheduled to be held from 09th February to 11th February, 2023, for the posts of Junior Assistant
and Junior Assistant-and-Computer Operator, advertised vide Advertisement Notification No, 01
of 2022, dated: 27-01-2022.
1. The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) is conducting the Computer Based
Type Test (Skill Test) for the posts of Junior Assistant and Junior Assistant-cum-Computer
Operator whose detail is given in Annexure “A”.
2. Admit Card for the candidates, whose examination(s) is/are scheduled on 09th February, 10th
February and 11th February, 2023 shall be hosted on JKSSB’s official website
(www.jkssb.nic.in) from 01st February, 2023 (04:00 PM). The Admit Card is issued to inform
the candidates about the Name & Address of Exam Centre, Exam City, Exam Date and Exam
Time for the candidate.
3. Candidates can download their Admit Cards from the JKSSB’s official website (www.jkssb.nic.in)
using their Application ID and Date of Birth. They must read the instructions contained therein,
carefully.
4. In case of any difficulty in downloading / issues related to Admit Card, candidate(s) may contact
the JKSSB Help-Desk at 0191-2461335 (Jammu) / 0194-2435089 (Srinagar) or write to JKSSB at
helpdesk.jkssb@gmail.com. Help-Desk will activate on 01st February 2023 till 11th February,
2023, during office hours.
5. The candidature of candidates claiming eligibility by misrepresentation / concealment of any
material facts, impersonation, fraud, etc. shall be liable for cancellation and disciplinary action, as
deemed appropriate.
6. The Board reserves the right to cancel the candidature of any candidate at any stage at which
he/she is found ineligible.
7. The detailed criteria of Selection for the said posts has already been notified in the advertisement
notification and is available on the official website of the Board (www.jkssb.nic.in).

8. The candidates are advised to stay in touch with the JKSSB’s official website (www.jkssb.nic.in)
for the latest updates on the examinations and Admit cards will not be sent by post.
9. Stepwise procedure to download JKSSB E-Admit Card:
i. To download E-Admit Card, first visit the official website of JKSSB,
i.e., www.jkssb.nic.in.
ii. On the homepage, there will be an option to download E-Admit Card.
iii. On that page, click on the link/button – “LOGIN”.
iv. Enter log-in credentials, i.e., Username and Password.
v. Username will be your Application ID & Password will be your DOB
in YYYYMMDD format.
vi. On successful completion of above step, your basic details will be shown, kindly verify the
details, in case of any mismatch, please contact helpdesk via call or email.
vii. Click on the ‘View and Print E-Admit Card’ button.
viii. The JKSSB E-Admit Card will appear on the screen.
ix. Download and Print your JKSSB E-admit card.
Note: CANDIDATE MUST BRING THE PRINTED COPY OF THE E-ADMIT CARD ON THE DAY OF
EXAMINATION.
