    Hyderabad: The South Central Railway will operate four special trains between Secunderabad and Banaras to clear rush of passengers during Ganga Pushkaram.

    These trains will operate from April 29 and May 5. On April 29. The special Ganga Pushkaram trains will depart from Secunderabad at 9.40 p.m. and reach Banaras 06.30 a.m. on May 1. In the return direction, the train will depart from Banaras at 08.35 a.m on May 1 and reach Secunderabad at 6.15 p.m. on May 2.

    The second special train from Secunderabad will depart at 9.40 p.m. on May 3 and reach Banaras at 06.30 a.m. on May 5. The pairing train will depart from Banaras at 8.35 a.m. on May 5 and reach Secunderabad at 6.15 p.m. on May 6.

    These special trains will stop at Jangaon, Kazipet, Peddapalli, Ramage dampener, Bellampalli, Sirpurkagazhnagar, Balharshah, Nagpur, Italian, Pipariya, Jabalpur, Katni junction, Santa, Manipur and Prayagraj Chheoki stations in both the directions.

    IndiGo offers to operate chartered flights under Operation Kaveri

    New Delhi: IndiGo on Wednesday said it has offered services for chartered flights to Jeddah to bring back Indians evacuated from Sudan.

    Under the evacuation mission ‘Operation Kaveri’, India is taking the evacuees from Sudan to the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah from where they are returning home.

    As per official data, the total number of Indians evacuated so far from Sudan stands at 534.

    “We have offered our services for charter flights to Jeddah under the Indian Government’s Operation Kaveri rescue mission of our citizens from Sudan.

    “We are still awaiting details from the ministry to launch these flights, nothing has been confirmed as of yet,” the airline said in a statement.

    Chandigarh: In a historic decision, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday announced change in the timings of government offices from the existing 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to 7.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in larger public interest.

    Announcing the decision, Mann said that the revised timings will come into effect from May 2 and will remain in place till July 15.

    The Chief Minister said the decision has been taken to benefit the common people for easily getting their work done at government offices during the scorching heat in the ensuing summer season.

    Mann said the decision has been taken after due consultation with all the stakeholders so that the welfare of all can be ensured.

    Giving more details, the Chief Minister said that the move will also enable the common man to finish his work early morning without taking leave from his work.

    Likewise, he said that the decision will also facilitate the employees as they will be able to attend social functions after office hours. Similarly, Mann said that the employees will also be able to spend more time with their children who will also come home from school around the same time.

    The Chief Minister said that this decision will be applicable to all the offices of Punjab government.

    He envisioned that this will also help in saving around 300-350 MW power, as a considerable chunk of power is being consumed by government offices.

    Mann said that as per the data of PSPCL, the peak load of the board starts after 1 p.m.

    The Chief Minister also said that the new timings will ensure that maximum sunlight is utilised by the masses.

    The state government will take more such citizen-centric decisions in the coming days, Mann said.

    New Delhi: Indian carriers will operate a total of 22,907 weekly domestic flights during the summer schedule starting from March 26.

    The number of flights to be operated is 4.4 per cent higher compared to 21,941 weekly flights operated in the winter schedule, according to aviation regulator DGCA.

    The summer schedule is from March 26 till October 28.

    As many as 11 airlines will be operating domestic services, with maximum weekly flights by IndiGo at 11,465.

    In the 2022 summer schedule, the airline’s number of flights is 10,085 flights.

    Among the 11 airlines, Alliance Air, Air Asia, SpiceJet and Vistara will be operating fewer flights in the upcoming summer schedule compared to the 2022 winter schedule, which is from October 28, 2022 to March 25, 2023.

    SpiceJet will be flying only 2,240 weekly flights in the summer schedule. This is nearly 30 per cent lower than 3,193 weekly flights in the winter schedule.

    In a release on Friday, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said 22,907 departures per week have been finalised to/from 110 airports for the summer schedule compared to 21,941 departures per week from 106 airports in the winter schedule 2022.

    “Out of these 110 airports, Jeypore, Cooch Behar, Hollongi, Jamshedpur, Pakyong and Mopa (Goa) are the new airports proposed by the scheduled airlines whereas operations from Ziro and Hindon airport are not proposed in the summer schedule 2023,” the release said.

    Tata Group-owned Air India will operate 2,178 weekly flights, which will be 9.45 per cent more than 1,990 flights in the winter schedule.

    Its group airlines — Vistara and AirAsia — will be flying fewer flights compared to the winter schedule. While Vistara will be operating 1,856 weekly flights which will be 4.38 per cent lower as against the winter schedule number of 1,941, Air Asia will be flying a marginally lesser number of flights at 1,456.

    In the winter schedule, the number of weekly flights of Air Asia was at 1,462. No-frills carrier Go Air, now rebranded as Go First, will be operating 10.65 per cent more weekly flights at 1,538 in the summer schedule.

    Akasa Air will operate 751 weekly flights in the summer schedule.

    In the summer schedule, Alliance Air will be flying 14 per cent less weekly flights at 887.

    According to the release, Star Air and Fly Big will be operating a higher number of weekly flights in the summer schedule at 234 and 220, respectively.

    IndiaOne will be the new operator in the 2023 summer schedule and it will operate 82 weekly flights.

    After being significantly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, the country’s aviation sector is on a strong recovery path and domestic air traffic has been on the rise in recent times.

    Hyderabad: The Director of School Education in Telangana on Monday issued a circular announcing that half-day schools will be implemented from March 15 until the last working day of the academic year 2022-23, which is April 24.

    It will be applicable to primary, upper primary, and high schools under government, government-aided, and private management.

    Timing of the schools in Telangana

    As per the circular, schools in Telangana will operate from 8 am to 12:30 pm, and midday meals will be provided at 12:30 pm. However, the special classes for Class X students who are preparing for the SSC Public Examination in April 2023 will continue as scheduled, with schools that have SSC Examination Centres operating from 1 pm to 5 pm.

    The circular has directed all Regional Joint Directors of School Education and District Educational Officers to inform schools under all managements about the new order and ensure that it is implemented accordingly.

    Summer holidays for schools

    Earlier, the Director of Schools Education announced that schools in Telangana will have their summer holidays starting from April 25. The holidays will be followed by the reopening of schools on June 12 to begin the next academic year.

    The class X exams will now take place from April 3 to 13, while other exams originally scheduled for April 10 will now begin on April 12.
