Atiq’s widow Shaista now officially a ‘mafia’ in UP

Prayagraj: The Prayagraj police has designated slain gangster politician Atiq Ahmed’s widow, Shaista Parveen as a ‘mafia’ for the first time in an FIR lodged on May 2 in connection with the arrest of one Mohd Atin Jafar, who was arrested for sheltering her and Sabir, a listed shooter of Atiq gang.
Besides the Umesh Pal murder case, Shaista has been named in seven other cases, including five of forgery and cheating, lodged at different police stations of the state.
Both Shaista and Sabir, also named in the Umesh Pal murder, are supposed to be on the run together and police have announced a cash reward for anyone providing information leading to their arrest.

While Sabir carries a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh, Shaista has a reward of Rs 50,000./
SHO Dhoomanganj Rajesh Kumar Maruya, in his FIR lodged with the Dhoomanganj police station against Mohd Atin Jafar on May 2, claimed that Jafar, who used to stay at Atiq’s slain son, Mohd Asad’s Mahanagar flat in Lucknow, had returned to his house in Prayagraj once police started tightening the noose around the members of Atiq gang, following the killing of lawyer Umesh Pal on February 24.
The SHO further claimed in the FIR that Jafar had allegedly offered shelter to Shaista and her shooters.
After the killing of gangster brothers, Atiq and Ashraf, on April 15, Shaista and shooter Sabir had stayed at the house of Jafar in Prayagraj on April 16 as they wanted to attend the burial of the gangster brothers.
They, however, changed their plan after apprehending their arrest and police action.

The FIR also revealed that Jafar’s father, Jafar Ullah, currently lodged at Lucknow jail in connection with businessman Mohit Agrawal assault case inside Deoria jail, was a close associate of Atiq.
Moreover, Mohd Umar, another son of Atiq, was also lodged at Lucknow jail on the same charges.
Meanwhile, fugitive Shaista continues to give sleepless nights to the sleuths of Special Task Force of UP Police and Prayagraj Commissionerate police since February 24.
Police sources claimed that Shaista had stopped using mobile phones and was continuously changing her location.

Camilla becomes officially known as Queen Camilla on Coronation day

London: Camilla, King Charles III’s wife, will officially become ‘Queen’ from ‘Queen Consort’ on Saturday during a historic Coronation ceremony.
Charles, 74, will be crowned the King of the United Kingdom at Westminster Abbey in London on Saturday in a solemn religious ceremony that dates back almost a thousand years.
Westminster Abbey has been the site of every British Coronation since that of William The Conqueror in 1066 and King Charles III and his wife, Queen Camilla, will follow in the footsteps of this grand tradition in a service themed “Called to Serve”.

Buckingham Palace tweeted late on the eve of the coronation, using “Queen Camilla” for the first time on the monarchy’s official account.
Sharing footage of the floral splendour and scene set in the coronation theatre, the post read: “Westminster Abbey is ready for the #Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla”.
The 75-year-old former Parker Bowles will be anointed and crowned in Westminster Abbey during a historic ceremony.
The official invitation to the day, the order of service, the Church of England’s prayers and Royal Collection souvenirs all hailed Camilla as the Queen or Queen Camilla.
Charles and Camilla got married in 2005.

The late Queen backed Camilla to be Queen Consort in a Jubilee masterstroke, and the former Duchess of Cornwall has been referred to by the Palace as such since the King’s accession.
The wife of a king automatically becomes a queen and only a change in legislation would have prevented Camilla from being so.
“Queen Camilla” appeared officially for the first time on the coronation invitations, with Buckingham Palace saying the May 6 ceremony was the appropriate time to start using the title in an official capacity.
Camilla was blamed for the breakdown of the prince’s marriage to Diana, Princess of Wales.
Camilla has gradually taken on a more prominent position within the royal family, including riding next to the Queen in her Diamond Jubilee carriage procession.
She also began to attend the State Opening of Parliament.

The action thriller film witl be directed by the ‘Jersey’ maker Gowtam Naidu Tinnanuri and also stars Sreeleela, who is known for her work in films such as ‘Kiss’, ‘Pelli SandaD’ and ‘Dhamaka’.
The official Twitter handle of Sithara Entertainments shared a slew of pictures featuring Vijay, Sreeleela, Gowtam and many more. A picture of the film’s clapboard was shared as well.

Finland is now officially a NATO member

BRUSSELS — Finland formally joined the North Atlantic Treaty Organization on Tuesday, becoming its 31st member on the same day as NATO’s 74th anniversary.
The country applied to join NATO last May in a foreign policy U-turn prompted by Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Finland’s entry brings to the alliance a new 1,340-kilometer border with Russia — as well as its own significant military capabilities.
Finland and Sweden initially planned to join the alliance together. But Turkey and Hungary dragged out the ratification process for the two countries, ultimately signing off on Finland’s bid last week but leaving Sweden hanging in the wind.
On Tuesday this week, Turkey and Finland completed the final steps in the process, handing over accession documents to U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Standing alongside NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg and Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Blinken declared: “With receipt of this instrument of accession, we can now declare that Finland is the 31st member of the North Atlantic Treaty.”
The Finnish flag was then raised outside NATO headquarters.
“The era of military nonalignment in our history has come to an end,” Finnish President Sauli Niinistö said at the accession ceremony, which was attended by senior officials and the alliance’s foreign ministers. “A new era begins,” he continued.
“Finland’s membership,” the president emphasized, “is not targeted against anyone.”

But Niinistö also underscored the importance of Sweden soon joining the alliance.
“Finland’s membership is not complete without that of Sweden. Our persistent efforts for a rapid Swedish membership will continue,” the Finnish leader said.
In his speech, Stoltenberg also made a nod to Stockholm’s ongoing accession bid.
“This has been the fastest accession process in NATO’s modern history,” he said at the ceremony. “I look forward to welcoming Sweden into the alliance as soon as possible.”

Humza Yousaf officially elected as Scotland’s new First Minister

Edinburg: Humza Yousaf has been officially elected as Scotland’s sixth First Ministe, with a majority of 71 out of 128 votes in Parliament.
The 37-year-old is Scotland’s youngest-ever head of government, first from an ethnic minority background as well as the first Muslim to lead a major UK party, reports Xinhua news agency.
Shona Robison, the current Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, will be Yousaf’s Deputy First Minister.
He will be sworn into office at a ceremony on Wednesday.
He replaces Nicola Sturgeon, who announced her resignation last month.
Sturgeon formally stepped down on Tuesday morning as the longest-serving First Minister in Scotland, after more than eight years in office.
She was also the first woman to hold the position.
Following the vote on Tuesday, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called Yousaf to congratulate him, reports the BBC.

He said he wanted to continue “working constructively with the Scottish government” to deliver on what he argued were the “people’s priorities across Scotland, including the need to half inflation, delivering growth, and cut waiting times.”
Yousaf has pledged to push for another referendum on Scottish independence, saying that the government’s priorities will be delivered more effectively when Scotland is independent.
He said in his victory speech that he will make Scotland a “fairer and wealthier” place.
He became the head of the Scottish National Party, Scotland’s ruling Party, after winning the leadership election on Monday.

Gallego officially launches bid for Sinema’s seat

Sinema has not yet said whether she’ll run for reelection, but a three-way general election clash with Gallego and a to-be-determined Republican candidate could become one of the most high-profile races across the country. No Republican has yet announced a bid to unseat Sinema, though top contenders include former gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake and former Senate candidate Blake Masters.
Gallego, a 43-year-old former Marine who served in Iraq, would be Arizona’s first Latino senator if elected. He announced his candidacy with a video that featured him talking to veterans at an American Legion post in Guadalupe, Ariz.
“You’re the first group of people that are hearing this besides my family. I will be challenging Kyrsten Sinema for the United States Senate, and I need all of your support,” Gallego said in the video.
Gallego’s campaign will force the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and others in the party to choose whether or not to defend Sinema as an incumbent. Though she’s opposed key portions of the White House’s agenda, Sinema has largely voted in favor of most Democratic legislation and to confirm President Joe Biden’s nominees.
