Electric cars under 30,000 euros: what the market offers

    [ad_1]

We certainly don’t find out today that the car world is changing. Higher prices with each passing day, the transition to electricity becoming more hasty and Ecobonus 2023 not distributed according to market trends in our country. Yes, because if it is true that the 2023 funds are exhausted for the 61-135 g/km category, i.e. full hybrids, mild hybrids, petrol, diesel, LPG and methane, it is equally true that there are still 171 million euros available for the 0-20 g/km range, i.e. that of electric cars. Very little used at the moment. This allows those who decide to buy an electric car to access the state eco-incentive by default. To recap, there is a 3,000 euro discount without any scrapping, 5,000 euro with the scrapping of a vehicle from Euro 0 to Euro 4, which must have been owned by one of the cohabiting family members for at least 12 months. It is therefore convenient to take advantage of these discounts to switch to electric. But what does the market offer at reasonable prices, let’s say under 30,000 euros? Not much, but there is something: Dacia Spring, DR 1.0 EV and Renault Twingo Electric are under 30,000 with all the trim levels. In the case of the Fiat 500, MG 4 and Smart fortwo, only the basic equipment or a few others. However, these are high prices, which not all Italians can afford with a calm heart, but it is the most basic that can be found on the market to enter the world of electric vehicles without resulting in minicars. Let’s discover these cars in detail and by calculating the prices with eco-incentives.

  • Turkey bans layoffs, offers salary support in earthquake zone

Turkey bans layoffs, offers salary support in earthquake zone

    [ad_1]

Ankara: Turkey has launched a temporary salary support scheme and banned job cuts in southern provinces hit by the devastating February 6 earthquakes that killed over 42,000 people in the country as well as in Neighbouring Syria, an official gazette said.

The government will provide salary support for employers in provinces under the state of emergency to partially cover the wages of their workers.

Employers will be able to benefit from the allowance if their workplaces are “heavily or moderately damaged”.

In addition, the government also banned layoffs in the earthquake zone, except for reasons of not complying with the rules of morality and goodwill, closure of the workplace, and expiry of the employment contract, said the report.

The move aims to safeguard workers and businesses in the region from the economic impact of the devastating earthquakes.

The earthquakes could cost up to $84 billion, or about 10 per cent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), according to a report from the Turkish Enterprise and Business Confederation (TURKONFED).

A total of $70.7 billion of financial damage will result from housing loss, $10.4 billion from national income loss and $2.9 billion from loss of working days, the TURKONFED said in its preliminary report issued four days after the quakes.

The 10 quake-hit provinces, where some 13.5 million people lived, account for 9.3 per cent of the country’s GDP and 8.7 per cent of Turkey’s total exports, with cereals, pulses, oil seeds and their products, steel, agricultural products, textiles and raw materials, and ready-made clothing products as the leading export items from the region.

However, given a mass exodus from the disaster region, it is unlikely for the factories in the region to find enough workers even if they are able to resume production.

In the southern province of Mersin that neighbours the disaster-affected region, 47 institutions and NGOs made a joint statement on Wednesday, saying the population of the province increased by 40 per cent in two weeks because of migration after the earthquake.

“There are 70,000 families coming from the quake region, and an estimated 40,000 will stay here,” Vahap Secer, Mayor of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, said in a statement, calling for housing projects in his province too.

Turks have already been struggling for several years with rampant inflation and currency turmoil.

The massive earthquakes hitting the country on February 6 have further added to their woes.

  • Andhra offers 48,352 acres of land bank for industrial development

Andhra offers 48,352 acres of land bank for industrial development

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: Andhra Pradesh has showcased its rich natural resources, large investments in infrastructure, land bank, and intensive reforms in rules and regulations at the investors’ meeting held on Tuesday in Bengaluru.

The event is one of many such meets being organised in the run-up to the Global Investors Summit on March 3-4 in Visakhapatnam, a statement noted.

Andhra Pradesh’s Investors Meet in Bengaluru, held ahead of its “Global Investors Summit 2023,” offers 48,352 acres of land bank for industrial development, as well as ready-built infrastructure to shorten the time required to set up new facilities, according to a release.

Speaking on the occasion, Gudivada Amarnath, Minister for Industries, Infrastructure, Investment and Commerce, IT, Handlooms and Textiles highlighted the export potential of Andhra Pradesh.

The Minister said: “According to the LEADS Report 2022, the state’s exports increased by 15.31 per cent from the previous year in 2021-2022, classifying it as ‘Achievers’ in the coastal states. With the completion of new ports and also further development of infrastructure for last-mile connectivity, the state’s share in exports can reach up to 10 per cent of India’s total exports.”

Addressing the investors, Buggana Rajendranath, Minister for Finance, Planning, Commercial Taxes, Skill Development, Training and Legislative Affairs, assured the investors of the fast-paced implementation of projects in the state.

“We strongly believe reducing the time to start a business will have a significant impact on the manufacturer’s profitability. The state is building numerous plug-and-play facilities which will have ready-built factory sheds with quality power and water supply and help speed up the setting up of manufacturing units,” said the minister.

Amarnath added that in the last three-and-a-half years, the state has approved investments to the tune of Rs 1.9 lakh crore.

“That would go on to create employment for around 90,000 people in the state in the future,” he said.

Key functionaries from various departments, ministries, and state government institutions had open interaction with the investing community in Bengaluru.

Manufacturing, food processing, ports, IT and Electronics, handlooms, and textiles sectors attracted significant interest at the event.

National Archives offers personal tours to anti-abortion activists who sued

    [ad_1]

    ap23027703347992

The Archives issued a statement last week apologizing for the incident.

“Early indications are that our security officers quickly corrected their actions,” the statement said, acknowledging the irony of the activists being told to cover up their protest garb while touring documents proclaiming free speech and freedom of religion.

Another group of young attendees at the annual March for Life filed a similar lawsuit last week against the Smithsonian Institution, alleging that during a visit to the National Air and Space Museum on the same day, they were harassed and told to take off matching ski hats reading “Rosary PRO-LIFE.”

The interim deal filed with the court on Tuesday in the Archives case will not resolve that lawsuit, but offers the plaintiffs a preliminary injunction similar to the one they planned to seek from the court, court papers say. The agreement needs approval from the judge assigned to the case, Timothy Kelly, an appointee of former President Donald Trump. According to a footnote, the deal is not intended to affect the Archives’ ability to regulate “clothing containing profanity.”

No similar agreement has been filed in the suit stemming from the events at the National Air and Space Museum, but the Smithsonian has apologized for its guards’ actions and promised retraining.

  • DU invites applications from startup innovators, offers incubation

DU invites applications from startup innovators, offers incubation

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Delhi University’s Cluster Innovation Centre (CIC) is inviting applications from people with startup ideas with “commercial viability” to help them see through their execution.

The applications will remain open till March 13.

“Anybody from the university or in fact outside the university with a promising idea can apply,” said CIC Director Shobha Bagai.

The university is planning to take in four startups and provide them with assistance. No stipend or financial support will be offered, Bagai said.

“We are trying to help these young minds. We are starting startups which have certain ideas but are at the very very basic stage… they need working space and they need a certain mentor to take them to the next step,” she said.

Bagai said the CIC wanted to formalise the initiative hence it advertised the offer. “Mentors will be from our faculty and people from outside.”

Under the initiative, the university will offer co-working space and mentoring support for 3+3 months, Bagai said.

The promoters must have the technical skills for prototyping for converting their idea into a product.

There are certain parameters on which an application will be judged by a committee led by CIC faculty.

“We have already asked them to fill up a form. In that form, they have to give all the details, whether they are receiving any kind of funding and at what stage is their product. We have asked them about the flow chart about their plans,” Bagai said.

The Cluster Innovation Centre – or CIC as it is popularly known – has been designed to seek and derive innovations from industrial clusters, village clusters, slum clusters, and educational clusters.

“Under Cluster Innovation Centre, we used to design an incubation centre funded by the Ministry of Education. There were some successful startups under the DIC.

“During the COVID, these things came to a standstill. We are now restarting that. We are focusing on start-ups,” the director said.

  • How a new treatment for diabetes offers hope for millions | podcast

    [ad_1]

More than 100,000 people with type 1 diabetes in England will be offered an “artificial pancreas”, in a revolutionary new treatment for managing the condition.

The so-called closed-loop system uses an algorithm to determine the amount of insulin that should be administered to the user and reads blood sugar levels to keep them steady. For thousands of people in the UK, living with diabetes means regular finger-pricking, insulin injections and blood monitoring. But those time-consuming and sometimes stressful processes would become automated by the new treatment, which is being called a “holy grail” for those with diabetes.

Hannah Moore hears from those living with diabetes, such as Jade Byrne and nine-year-old Eddie Haigh, with his father Ian Haigh. She also hears from Dr Charlotte Boughton, who helped conduct the research trials, and the NHS diabetes specialist Prof Partha Kar.
