Hyderabad: Nikhat Zareen felicitated by DGP, NMDC

Hyderabad: Nikhat Zareen was felicitated by the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) and the Director General of Police, Anjani Kumar in two separate programmes on Thursday for her recent win at the 2023 IBA World Boxing Championship.
India’s boxing sensation Nikhat defeated Nguyen Thi Tam of Vietnam 5-0 in the final to win a gold medal for the second time on March 28 in New Delhi.
NiKhat was felicitated with a shawl and a flower bouquet by the DGP in the presence of the chief secretary Santhi Kumari at the BRBK Bhavan.

Later in the day the NMDC chairman and managing director (CMD), Amitava Mukherjee, production director, Dilip Kumar Mohanty and Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) B Vishwanath in the presence of other senior executives. Nikhat Zareen is the brand ambassador of NMDC which is supporting her journey to the 2023 Asian Games and the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Amitava Mukherjee said “It‘s a matter of pride for NMDC when its brand ambassador Nikhat Zareen asserted her supremacy at the World Boxing Championship and won the Gold for India. On behalf of NMDC, I wish her the best for her upcoming matches and training for the Olympics”.
Expressing her gratitude to NMDC, Nikhat said, “The unwavering support from NMDC is highly appreciable, who not only believed in my potential but also invested in my dreams. Their encouragement has been the driving force behind my success and I will forever cherish their contribution towards my journey”.

Hyderabad: Singareni CMD Sridhar selected as head of NMDC

Hyderabad: Chairman and managing director (MD) of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), N Sridhar has been selected as the chairman and MD of the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC).
A total of seven applications were received for the post of the head of NMDC while the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) decided to recommend Sridhar’s name to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) in a meeting held on Saturday.
NMDC CMD Sumit Deb retired on February 28 and the responsibilities were temporarily handed over to director (finance) Amitava Mukherjee.
However, applications were later invited for full-time CMD.
Sridhar, an IAS officer from the 1997 batch, was appointed CMD of Singareni in January 2015 and has been serving in the post since then.
He had also served as special secretary to Kiran Kumar Reddy (the last chief minister of united Andhra Pradesh) before he joined the collieries.

Hyderabad: NMDC Steel Limited listed at Bombay Stock Exchange

Hyderabad: NMDC Steel Limited (NSL) was listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Monday. NSL, National Mineral Development Corporation’s (NMDC) 3 Million Tonnes per annum Integrated Steel Plant at Nagarnar in Chhattisgarh, was listed to become a public company on Monday.
The listing ceremony was held at the Bombay Stock Exchange, Mumbai in presence of Chairman-cum-Managing Director of NSL, Sumit Deb.
NMDC Steel Limited was incorporated as a wholly owned subsidiary of NMDC Limited on January 2, 2015, under the Companies Act, 2013 with a registered office at NMDC Iron & Steel Plant Nagarnar Bastar, Chhattisgarh.
The now demerged company NMDC Steel Limited is a central public sector enterprise with a paid-up capital of Rs. 2,930 crores owned by the President of India, under the administrative control of the Union ministry of steel. The government owns a 60.79% stake in this company, said a press release on Monday.
“Nagarnar Steel Plant is in the final stages of commissioning and is likely to be commissioned shortly. This plant will cater to the domestic steel needs and fulfill the vision of the National Steel Policy 2017 of the Government of India,” said Sumit Deb.
