    Ex-IAS officer B V R Subrahmanyam takes charge as NITI Aayog CEO

    New Delhi: B V R. Subrahmanyam joined as Chief Executive Officer of the NITI Aayog on Saturday, an official said.

    An Indian Administrative Service officer of the 1987 batch (Chhattisgarh cadre), Subrahmanyam has held important assignments over the last three decades in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Jammu & Kashmir, along with a stint at the World Bank.

    He has been the Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry; Chief Secretary of Jammu & Kashmir; Principal Secretary of Chhattisgarh, and has held positions in the Prime Minister’s Office.

    On the occasion of taking charge of the public policy think tank of the Central government, Subrahmanyam said, “I am humbled by the trust and responsibility reposed in me by the Prime Minister and will try my best to rise up to his expectations.”

    SRINAGAR: The government on Monday approved the appointment of IAS officer B.V.R. Subrahmanyam as the new CEO of NITI Aayog, replacing Parmeswaran Iyer.

    Iyer has been appointed as Executive Director of World Bank at the institution’s headquarters in Washington DC for a period of three years, from the date of assumption of charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

    His World Bank appointment was cleared by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet according to an order issued on Monday.

    Iyer would be replacing Rajesh Khullar at World Bank headquarters. Khullar is a Haryana cadre IAS officer of 1988 batch, who has been repatriated to his home cadre at the request of the state government, the order said.

    Iyer had been appointed as NITI Aayog CEO in July 2022.

    Subrahmanyam, a 1987 batch IAS officer of Chhattisgarh cadre, has previously served as Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, and is an expert on internal security.

    He was Additional Chief Secretary, Home, in Chhattisgarh before he was deputed to J&K after Governor’s rule was imposed in the state in June 2018 following the break-up of the PDP-BJP coalition government in the state. (IANS)

    Technology, innovation critical factors for improving healthcare infrastructure: NITI Aayog CEO

    New Delhi: Technology and innovation are the critical factors that will play a crucial role in improving the healthcare infrastructure of India, NITI Aayog CEO Parameswaran Iyer said on Monday.

    Addressing 9th Edition of the International Patient Safety Conference (IPSC) organised by Apollo Hospitals, Iyer said artificial intelligence has transformed the way healthcare sector is performing now.

    From diagnosis of the disease to providing treatment, the use of artificial intellgience is proving beneficial in transforming India’s healthcare system, he added. In the coming years, Iyer noted that there will be a significant amount of increase in the number of digital healthcare solutions.

    “To bring an effective change into the healthcare system of India, we must focus more in fostering public-private partnerships,” he said.

    Speaking at the event, Apollo Hospitals Group’s Joint Managing Director Sangita Reddy said as India moves closer to achieving universal health coverage, patient safety and digital health should be given high consideration.
