SRINAGAR: National Investigation Agency on Thursday said that it has filed chargehseet against two members of Lashkar-i-Toiba oufit in connection with the Udhampur blast case.

NIA spokesman said that following through on investigations into the Udhampur IED blast cases by the LeT through their Pak based handlers, NIA filed a chargesheet against 2 LeT operatives today.

The spokesman further stated that Aslam Sheikh alias Adil and Mohd Amin Bhat alias Abu Khubaib alias Pinna have been charged for their efforts towards revival of militant activities in Jammu by carrying out recruitments from the pool of OGWs and surrendered militants and activating & motivating them to carry out militant acts.

NIA had taken over investigations into the case in 15th of November 2022 from Jammu & Kashmir Police, he said.

NIA Investigations revealed that Mohd Aslam Sheikh alias Adil was in touch with Mohd Amin Bhatalias Pinna, an ‘individual militant’ of the LeT listed by Government of India, who was now operating from Pakistan. Pinna recruited Adil to carry out the two IED blasts on buses parked in the public areas of Udhampur District of J&K, which had inflicted injuries to two persons, he said.

Mohd Amin Bhat was initially a resident of Doda district in J&K. In 1997, he joined the terrorist ranks of Hizb Ul Mujahideen and was involved in the execution of various militant acts in J&K. He escaped to Pakistan in 2009 and is presently an active LeT handler who is playing a vital role to revive and accelerate terrorist activities in the Jammu region of J&K, he said.

Adil collected the explosives consignment delivered by Pinna’s associates from across the border in Kathua sector. Pinna used drones and dead drop method for this delivery. Pinna trained Adil in cyberspace on how to prime the IEDs. On 28th September, Adil planted 2 IEDs in two different buses, which were plying between Basnatgarh and Udhampur. One blast took place around midnight on 28th and the other in the early hours of 29th September, he said.

After his arrest, Adil made disclosures about hoarding of explosives for future attacks. Two more IEDs, three Sticky bombs, three detonators and two PTD timers were recovered from Adil’s residence. These were part of the consignment that was delivered from Pakistan, he said.

NIA unravelled all these facts and has filed a chargesheet on 28th against Mohd Aslam Sheikh and Mohd Amin Bhat under sections 120B, 121A, 122, 307 and 407 of IPC, sections 3 &4 of the Explosives Substances Act, 1908 and sections 16, 18, 18B, 20, 23, 38 & 39 of the UA (P) Act, 1967, reads the statement.

Karnataka BJP activist murder case: NIA seizes PFI office

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) probing the murder of BJP Yuva Morcha activist Praveen Kumar Nettaru has seized an office of the Popular Front of India (PFI) in Sullia town of Dakshina Kannada district, sources said on Monday.

According to sources, the PFI office in Sullia was used for carrying out terrorist activities. The office was located on the first floor of Tahira complex on Aletti Road in Gandhinagar.

The copy of seizure has been sent to the owner of the property, District Commissioner, Superintendent of Police of Dakshina Kannada district. The order maintains that the property should not be leased or rented out. Directions have been given against shifting any property from the office or taking up renovation work.

Sources explained that the conspiracy to murder Praveen Kumar Nettaru was hatched in the office. Praveen was hacked to death by assailants in their third attempt.

The NIA sleuths had submitted a charge sheet against 20 persons with the Special NIA court in Bengaluru. The charge sheet contains 1,500 pages and statements of 240 witnesses.

NIA had earlier sealed the Mittur Freedom Community Hall in Idukki village near Bantwal town in connection with murder case in February.

Rajasthan: NIA seals two PFI offices, freezes 10 bank accounts

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday said it has sealed two offices of the banned organisation Popular Front of India (PFI) in Rajasthan, and also froze 10 of its bank accounts.

An official said that NIA is investigating the criminal conspiracy hatched by PFI leaders and cadres in Rajasthan to drive a wedge between different communities in the country through radicalisation.

“The banned organisation has also been conducting training of gullible Muslim youth in handling of weapons. They have been raising funds to carry out acts of terror and violence with the ultimate objective of establishing Islamic rule in India by 2047,” the official said.

Earlier, on March 13, the NIA had filed chargesheet against Mohammad Ashif a.k.a. Asif of Kota, and Sadiq Sarraf of Baran in this case.

The official said that during the investigation into the case registered in September 2022, it was learnt that the offices of the PFI at Jaipur and Kota were being used for organising terror training camps.

These trainees, mostly young Muslim youth, were being radicalised and trained in the use of dangerous weapons, such as knives and swords, to attack, assault, and murder by targeting vulnerable points of the body, including the head, neck and chest.

“Therefore, PFI offices at Jaipur and Kota have been attached under the provisions of UA (P) Act as the ‘proceeds of terrorism’. The properties attached by NIA today include the PFI office located at House No. 256, near Punjab National Bank, Moti Dungari Road, District – Jaipur, Rajasthan, and the PFI office, near Arakeen Badi Masjid, Madrasa Furkania, Lalji Ghati Ladpura Kota, Rajasthan,” the official, providing details, said.
