Nagpur: A 15-year-old girl, an alleged victim of sexual exploitation, delivered a girl at her home in Nagpur city of Maharashtra after watching YouTube videos and killed the newborn, police said on Sunday.
A police official said the girl was sexually exploited by a man she got acquainted with on social media.
“She hid her baby bump from her mother by telling her that she was having some health issues,” the official said.
To maintain secrecy, the girl, a resident of Ambazari area, hit upon the idea of home delivery and started watching YouTube videos. “On March 2, she gave birth to a girl at her home and immediately strangled the newborn to death. She hid the body in a box in her home,” the official added.
When her mother returned home, she questioned the girl about her health condition. “The girl narrated her ordeal to her mother, following which she was taken to a hospital. The body of the newborn was sent for postmortem,” he said.
A case was registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The charge of murder will be invoked after receiving a postmortem report, the official added.
Bengaluru: A shocking incident of a newborn wrapped in a plastic bag being run over by several vehicles came to light in Bengaluru on Sunday.
The incident took place in Pampa Layout of Amruthahalli locality of Bengaluru. According to police, the baby, aged four to five months, was wrapped in a plastic cover and thrown into a BBMP garbage truck.
The bag containing the baby fell down from the truck and the vehicles plying on the road ran over it.
The police said that since the body was disfigured, they have not been able to determine whether it is a boy or a girl. It is suspected that the culprits abandoned the baby to conceal the birth.
Some people, who noticed the cover with the dead body inside, informed the police. More details are awaited.

Hyderabad: A 29-year-old woman and her nine-day-old twins were found dead on Sunday night and their bodies were recovered from the sump located at her house.
The woman who is identified as B Sandhya Rani reportedly ended her life after throwing her twins into the sump as she was worried about their health complications.
As per the details of the case, Rani got married to Narsingh in 2012. After five years, she gave birth to twins in 2017. However, they died within a few months.
In 2018 too, Rani lost her newborn baby girl. Again on February 11, 2023, she gave birth to twins, a boy, and a girl.
As the boy was weak, he was kept under observation. A few days later, he was discharged from the hospital.
Though the boy was discharged from the hospital, Rani was worried thinking that she might lose twins due to health complications as happened the last two times.
Fearing the death of the twins, she reportedly threw them into the water sump and ended her life by jumping into it.
Later, her family members found their bodies and informed the police. Alwal police registered a case and started investigation.
Saharanpur: A man was arrested for allegedly raping and impregnating a teenage girl and throwing their newborn baby in a forest area here, police said.
The 17-year-old survivor lodged a complaint at Deoband police station in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, alleging that she was raped several times by one Salman, who had promised to marry her.
The accused allegedly threw the girl born four days ago in a forest area and threatened the teen of dire consequences if she informed anyone about the act, Additional Superintendent of Police, Rural, Suraj Rai said.
An FIR has been registered against Salman under IPC section 376 (rape), 377 (sodomy) and POCSO Act, police said.
The newborn was recovered by a farmer and is now being treated at a hospital, Rai said.
The baby will be handed over to the child welfare committee, police said.
