    [ad_1]

Kanpur: More than 2,000 people were booked in three FIRs for offering namaz without permission on a road outside the Eidgah here on Eid last week, police here said on Thursday.

The FIRs were registered separately at Bajaria, Babu Purwa, and Jajmau police stations on Wednesday. No arrests have been made so far.

A video of the people offering namaz on road was made by the police.

“People offering namaz will be identified on the basis of video after which legal action will be taken against them,” said an officer requesting anonymity.

Angry with the police action, Mohammad Suleman, a member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board, told the media that they were being targeted on the basis of religion.

He said that a few people did pray on the road outside the Eidgah because they were late and there was no space left inside the premises.

One of the FIRs was lodged at the Bajaria Police Station against 1,000-1,500 unknown persons including some members of the Eidgah management committee at the complaint of Senior Sub Inspector (SSI) Omveer Singh.

Omveer Singh in his complaint said a large number of people got down to offer namaz on the road as soon as a call for it was made on Eid, violating Section 144.

About 300 people were booked by Jajmau Police, while the third FIR was made at Babu Purwa Police Station in which over 50 people were charged with offering prayers on a public road without permission.

The people were booked under IPC sections 186 (Obstructing public servant in discharging duties), 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 283 (Danger in public way), 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint), and 353 (criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty).

Another police officer said that guidelines on Eid prayers had been issued after a meeting with the peace committees and strict instructions were given that prayers should not be held on the street.

UP: Controversy around ‘namaz’ in school erupts in Hathras

    [ad_1]

Hathras: A controversy has erupted over namaz allegedly being offered during a cultural event at a private school in this Uttar Pradesh district, a claim rejected by officials.

However, the school management has suspended the principal and two teachers in view of the controversy and a two-member team has been formed to look into the incident.

A group of people recited the Hanuman Chalisa outside the school on Friday.

Hathras District Magistrate (DM) Archana Verma said the news being circulated on social media platforms that namaz was offered on the school premises is factually incorrect.

She said it was a part of the preparations for an all-faith event in which the participants enacted the roles of the followers of different religions.

Verma said a two-member team has been formed to probe the incident.

The inquiry team headed by the sub-divisional magistrate (urban) has been asked to submit its report in five days, the DM told PTI.

She said the district administration would try to circulate the video of the event for everyone to see the truth.

On a report of right-wing activist Vyas Deoki Nandan threatening to launch an agitation over the incident, Verma said he has been informed about the facts.

Sources said namaz was not offered on the school premises, but there was a performance of Mohammad Iqbal’s Urdu poem, “Lab Pe Aati Hai Dua Banke”.

Iqbal is the writer of the famous song, “Saare jahan se achha”.

    [ad_1]

Lucknow: The Lucknow police have registered a case against AIMIM leader Uzma Parveen for offering namaz at the Metro station in Hussainganj.

The matter came to light after the AIMIM leader posted a photograph on Twitter.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, Aparna Rajat Kaushik, said that Uzma had falsely shown the place of offering prayers to be Vidhan Bhawan which is misleading.

Last year, eight people were spotted offering namaz inside a prominent mall in a video that had gone viral on social media days after the inauguration of the international chain outlet.

Later, all of them were arrested.

Kaushik said that Uzma offered prayers at metro station and later tweeted that “one is free to offer prayers at any place as one is free to express his/her view”.

“A case under charges of IPC 153 A (promoting enmity), IPC 200 (giving false information), and IPC 283 (obstruction of public way) has been registered against Uzma,” said the DCP.

  • Fact Check: Did SRK’s son AbRam offer Namaz in THIS viral video?

Fact Check: Did SRK’s son AbRam offer Namaz in THIS viral video?

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is known for enjoying a secular household. He has always been vocal about secularism. SRK is a muslim by birth, but he believes in worshipping and respecting all other religions. The actor is married to Gauri, who is a Hindu, and they’ve raised their three children Aryan, Suhana and AbRam with both faiths.

In a 2005 documentary — The Inner and Outer World of Shah Rukh Khan, Khan revealed that his kids are open to all religions and that they recite Gayatri mantra and offer Namaz with equal faith and enthusiasm. And because of his secular ways of life, fans love him a lot more.

Last year, a video of a child offering Namaz went viral and SRK fans claimed that it is King Khan’s little one. The video was widely circulated and again this year, the same clip was shared by one of the actor’s fan pages on Instagram.

In the video an adorable small child is seen offering Namaz. He can be seen chanting Surah Al-Fateh and Surah Al-Ahad. The fan page under the name of srkbeedcfc claimed that it is SRK’s son AbRam offering Namaz in the video.

Netizens seem divided after watching the video as a few claim that it is the son of SRK while others are of the opinion that the video features actor Ajaz Khan’s son Alexander Khan. After doing a lot of research to know the truth behind the video, we have finally found that it is Alexander Khan who is offering the Namaaz in the video. The video features the son of Bigg Boss fame Ajaz Khan and the actor has earlier last year also confirmed it via tweet.

To clear the air that it is not AbRam but Alexander Khan offer Namaaz in the viral video, Ajaz Khan wrote, ”Abram is a very cute child n we all love him a lot..but the child in the video offering namaz is NOT Abram but my son Adan..m sure Abram looks equally cute while praying..Adan is a big fan of @iamsrk and is blushing at the moment.”

Video: Controversy in Noida society over Namaz, police deployed

    [ad_1]

Noida: Police were deployed at a group housing society near Noida on Tuesday after a controversy erupted between Hindus and Muslims over “some outsiders” reciting Namaz there, officials said.

The row erupted on Monday evening around 8.30 pm at the Supertech Ecovillage 2 society, under Bisrakh police station limits, after around 30-40 Muslim residents of the society were offering prayers in a vacant room on the third floor above the commercial market of the society, they said.

“On being informed about some controversy in the society, officials of the local Bisrakh police station went to the spot and the Hindu community said we have no objection to all the people of our society offering Namaz but we have an objection to the fact that 6-7 people from other societies are coming to offer Namaz,” the police said in a statement.

“On this objection, the Muslim community itself decided that Namaz will not be offered at that place. Both sides agree on this. Peace and order is maintained on the spot,” the police added.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Rajeev Dixit said additional force was deployed at the site as a precautionary measure in view of the episode.

“There is no law and order situation. The matter has been resolved. The deployment of police is part of precautionary measures,” Dixit told PTI.

  • Entry of women into mosques for offering namaz permitted: AIMPLB to SC

Entry of women into mosques for offering namaz permitted: AIMPLB to SC

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) on Wednesday told the Supreme Court that the entry of women into mosques for offering namaz inside is permitted.

The board said a Muslim woman is free to enter a mosque for prayers and it is her option to exercise her right to avail such facilities as available for prayers in a mosque.

The AIMPLB said this in an affidavit filed in the apex court which is seized of a plea relating to the entry of Muslim women into mosque for offering namaz.

“It is submitted that the questions raised in the present petition are not in the background of state action. The practices of religion in the places of worship (which in the present matter are mosques) are purely private bodies regulated by ‘Muttawalis’ of the mosques,” the affidavit, filed through advocate M R Shamshad, said.

One Farha Anwar Hussain Shaikh has filed a petition in the top court in 2020 and has sought a direction that the alleged practices of prohibition of entry of Muslim women into mosques in India are illegal and unconstitutional. The plea is likely to be heard by the apex court in March.

The affidavit said the AIMPLB, being a body of experts without any state powers, can only issue advisory opinion based on Islamic principles.

It said the AIMPLB and the apex court, for that matter, cannot enter into the arena of detailed arrangements of a religious place, which is completely privately managed entity for religious practices of believers in religion.

“Considering the said religious texts, doctrines, and religious beliefs of the followers of Islam, it is submitted that entry of women into mosques for offering namaz inside mosques is permitted,” it said.

“Thus, a Muslim woman is free to enter into a masjid (mosque) for prayers. It is her option to exercise her right to avail such facilities as available for prayers in a masjid,” the affidavit said.

It said the AIMPLB does not want to comment on any contrary religious opinion to this effect.

The affidavit said that Islam has not made it obligatory on Muslim women to join daily five times prayers in congregation nor is it obligatory for woman to offer weekly Friday ‘Namaz’ in congregation, though it is so on Muslim men.

“The Muslim woman is differently placed because, as per doctrines of Islam, she is entitled to the same religious reward (sawab) for praying as per her option, either in masjid or at home,” it said.

The affidavit said there is no religious text authorising “free intermingling” of genders in any masjid.

“It is submitted that the Masjid An-Nabawi in Medina has separate spaces/chambers for men and women inside the mosque. In the area surrounding the Masjid An-Nabawi, designated and separate spaces are available for men and women worshippers with temporary barricades in place demarcating them,” it said.

The affidavit said when it comes to performing namaz around the Kaaba in Mecca, there are temporary arrangements by putting barricades to provide separation between men and women worshippers during the prayer.

“The etiquettes of prayer, particularly no free inter-mixing of both sexes, are adhered to willingly, strictly, and sincerely by all worshippers whether men or women,” it said.
