Telangana: Tehreek Muslim Shabban seeks eight pc reservations to Muslims before polls

The Tehreek Muslim Shabban, a city-based organization, on Tuesday, urged the Telangana government to allot eight percent reservations to Muslims before the next Assembly elections in the State.
“Eight years have passed since the formation of Telangana state, but the promise of 12 percent reservations for Muslims stands unfulfilled by the government. If not 12 percent, the BRS must at least approve eight percent reservation for Muslims,” said Tehreek Muslim Shabban president Mushtaq Malik.
Mallik questioned the government for ignoring Muslims and said “the State government has increased the reservation quotas for STs from six percent to 10 percent but no such announcement was made in regard to Muslim reservation.” he stated.
The BRS government had assured 12 percent reservation in its Election Manifesto but failed to implement or fulfill the promise”, Mustaq Malik added.
He further questioned the lack of Muslim representation and appointment of Muslims in crucial government departments and the Public Service Commission. He said the government has appointed 10 Vice Chancellors in different universities, but none from the Muslim community.
Except the appointment of 66 Urdu officers, very little has been done by the government for the welfare of Muslims. Not even four per cent Muslims are part of the 2BHK apartments allotted by the government while only 1.43% Muslims have been able to secure Gazetted officers posts in the State, he added.
He urged the government to “prioritize sanctioning of financial aid of one lakh rupees per head to more than 2, 16,000 applicants which have been pending for a long time” and help the youth fight joblessness. Mustaq Malik also requested the government to expedite construction of mosques inside the Telangana Secretariat complex, appoint a Musim candidate as the Minority Commission Chairman and increase their representation in the Public Service Commission.
He said “Sudhir commission was constituted to analyze the educational and financial status of Muslims, and approved its recommendations but Muslims are still awaiting this, ” he said.

The Tehreek Muslim Shabban will visit Karimnagar, Jagtial and Siddipet and campaign to create awareness, garner support and remind the government about its reservation promises”,he added.
Vice President of organization Abdul Haq, social activist Dr. Aleem Khan Falki, Saleem Al Hindi, Saleem Ilahi and others were also present on this occasion.

Minorities panel received maximum complaints from Muslims in last 5 yrs from UP

New Delhi: As incidents of violence against minority communities in the past few years across the country have seen a spike, what specifically raises eyebrows is the fact that a bulk of complaints, or 71 per cent of total complaints and petitions received by the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) in the past five years are related to the Muslim community alone.
Uttar Pradesh has been the only state for the last five years, from where the maximum number of complaints related to the Muslim community have been received by the commission.
According to the Ministry of Minority Affairs’ data, of the total 10,562 complaints received by the commission related to all the minority communities, namely Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Parsis, Jains and Buddhists between 2017-18 and 2022-23 (till January 31, 2023), 7,508 pertain to the Muslim community alone. This is 71 per cent of total complaints received by the minorities’ panel from all the minority communities.
As per Section 9(1) of the NCM Act, 1992, among its various other functions, the commission is required to look into specific complaints regarding deprivation of rights and safeguard of minorities and taking up such matters with the appropriate authorities.
The complaints now being received by it are mostly related to police atrocities, service matters, minority educational institutions and encroachments to religious properties.
Reports are sought from the concerned authorities under the Union and state governments. On receipt of the reports, the commission makes appropriate recommendations to the respective authorities for redressal of the grievances.
A closer analysis of the data pertaining to the total complaints received in the last five years by the NCM, a majority of them come from the Muslim community.
In 2017-18, of the total 1,498 complaints received by NCM, 1,128 of them or 75 per cent of the complaints came from the Muslim community. Of these, 529 complaints were from Uttar Pradesh alone from Muslims.

Similarly in 2018-19, 1,344 complaints of the total 1,871 complaints (72 per cent) received by the commission, belonged to the Muslim community. Here, too, Uttar Pradesh led with 810 complaints from the Muslim community.
This pattern could also be seen in 2019-20, when 73.7 per cent of the total complaints received by NCM, were from the Muslim community, with Uttar Pradesh leading with 728 complaints.
In 2020-21, too, 75.5 per cent or 1,105 out of the total 1,463 complaints received by the panel pertained to the Muslim community, with 646 from Uttar Pradesh alone.
In 2021-22, 68 per cent of the total complaints came from the Muslim community to the NCM, 659 being from Uttar Pradesh.
During the current fiscal (2022-23) till January 31, 2023, the NCM received 1,984 complaints, of which 1,279 or 64.4 per cent came from the Muslim community, with 662 from Uttar Pradesh.
According to the Ministry’s data, complaints received by the panel from other minority communities have been very few during the last five years, if the figures are to be compared to those sent by the Muslim community.
However, with maximum complaints lodged with the NCM coming from the Muslim community and that, too, mainly from Uttar Pradesh, which is easily miles ahead of other states in terms of sheer number of complaints received from there, indeed shows the growing level of intolerance towards a particular community, especially in a state considered to be one of the most politically conscious and significant.

Telangana: Nearly 39K Muslims to benefit under state govt schemes, says Koppula Eshwar

Hyderabad: Telangana minorities welfare minister Koppula Eshwar, in the legislative assembly on Thursday said that nearly 39,000 Muslim minorities benefited under different schemes of the state this year.
“Committed towards the welfare of Muslim minorities, the state government through the Muslim Minorities Finance Corporation, bank-linked subsidies under the Economic Support Scheme, Driver Empowerment Scheme and Own Your Auto programme have made an effort towards the welfare of its beneficiaries,” said the minister.
The minister informed the council that nearly 12,000 beneficiaries were identified through committees this year and Rs 120 crore were sanctioned for the same purpose accordingly this fiscal.
He further said the state government, in the new budget, has proposed Rs 270 crore, which would benefit 27,000 applicants.
“39,000 beneficiaries would benefit in the next 10 months,” said the minister.

Rajasthan police launch enquiry into Ramdev’s remarks on Muslims, Christians

Rajasthan police on Saturday launched a suo moto enquiry into the controversial remarks made by Yoga guru Baba Ramdev about Muslims and Christians at an event in Rajasthan’s Barmer, according to reports.
The renowned yoga guru Ramdev Baba made a bigoted speech against Muslims and Christians and claimed that while Muslims are busy ‘making terrorists in the name of namaz’, Christians are performing religious conversions.
He was addressing a crowd in the Barmer district. “Ask any Muslim what your religion teaches, and they say, ‘keep reading namaz every day and do whatever you want’ even if that means kidnapping Hindu women. This is their definition of Islam. They are sinners, our Muslim brothers,” Ramdev said.
“Read the namaz daily and then do whatever you want, even if that means becoming a terrorist,” he added.
He said that the idea of Islamic heaven is beautiful angels and alcohol. “All these people have to do is shave their moustache, wear a white kurta-pyjama and a topi,” he said, further clarifying that though Islam or the Quran does not say such things, this is what is being spread. “I am not saying that Islam or the Quran ask them to do it but they are doing it anyhow,” he said.
He said that such a concept of heaven is worse than hell.
Coming to Christians he says, “What does Christianity say? Go to church, light a candle, and then stand in front of the Lord Jesus, all your sins are washed away.” He talks about the cross. a holy sign in Christians as well as the Rosary necklace (Rosary means a chain of roses and each rose is a prayer).
“They have some cross-like sign on their neck and then other chains that looks alike like ours,” he said.

He again clarifies that he is not against any religion in particular and then goes on to mention religious conversions. “Muslims want the whole world to convert to Islam and Christians want the whole world to accept Christianity as their major religion,” he said.

Muslims keeping Assamese language alive, says Badruddin Ajmal

Guwahati: All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal on Sunday said that Muslim people in Assam are keeping the Assamese language alive.
Speaking at a function in Dhubri, he said: “The Assamese language’s heritage has been preserved, and it has also been protected by Muslims residing in Assam. I can challenge that. But even after that, Assamese people refer to us as Bangladeshis in a fraction of a second.”
Ajmal commented that Assamese is not taught in Bangladesh.
“Then how can a Bangladeshi learn that language,” he questioned.
The AIUDF leader further said that in Char areas of Assam, Muslim people send their children to Assamese-medium schools.
“The problem is that our (Muslim) people send the children to Assamese medium schools, but they don’t have the habit of speaking Assamese at home,” he added.
Meanwhile, Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika has criticised Ajmal for his remarks.
He said: “This is a ridiculous claim. I have noticed that even Badruddin Ajmal speaks half Assamese language and mixes Bengali and Hindi into it.”

Hazarika also asked Ajmal whether he could really speak Assamese like him.
“There is absolutely no need for Badruddin Ajmal to protect our language since Assamese people know it well enough to protect and preserve it,” the BJP

KCR cheated Muslims on 12 pc reservations: Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President Revanth Reddy visited Warangal Assembly Constituency on the second day of his ‘Haath Se Haath Jodo Yatra’. He started the campaign from Daulatabad at 10 am and met the people. A meeting of key leaders of Daulatabad mandal was convened in which the campaign was reviewed.
While addressing the public meetings, Revanth Reddy highlighted the failures of the BRS and BJP governments. He urged the party workers to start preparing for the elections from now on as the next government will be of the Congress. He said the BRS government was harassing Congress leaders through false cases.
Revanth Reddy said that Muslims and tribal communities have been cheated in the name of reservation. “KCR had promised 12 percent reservation to Muslims, but no serious action was taken in this regard, even the existing four percent reservation for Muslims was not being implemented”, he alleged.
Revanth Reddy said the BJP and the BRS were creating an atmosphere of hatred in the country while the Congress had launched a Haath Se Haath Jodo Yatra to end hatred.
He said that the development works he had carried out as an MLA in Kodangal remain the same even today. However, the KCR government has ignored Kodangal’s development, he alleged.
He said Sonia Gandhi has given him the opportunity to sign B-forms for 119 assembly constituencies. He said Congress workers must be ready to fight against the failures of the government. There has been a secret understanding between the BRS and the BJP to weaken the Congress.
Revanth Reddy claimed that Congress will form government in Telangana from January 1, 2024. He said congress workers should prepare for the struggle against the injustices of the government.
